Safari search field autofill kicking me out

I am sure this has be discussd but I can't seem to find the treads. Perhaps I am not searching for the correct terms. Regardless, when I try and type something in the search field Safari will autofill the word and then kick me out of the address and search bar. For example, I am trying to type pinturest help but safari autofills pinturest (before I am done typing) to pinturest.com and then kicks me out of the field so I can't even finish typing.
Anyone have a solution?

From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.

  • Safari Search History

    I know there is a way to manually clear the history of searches in safari search fields such as google. But is there a setting to change where safari will not automatically keep a history of searches? Thanks.
      Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Setting History to zero items will affect the history of sites visited, but not the history of search items.
    There are actually two separate search history lists.
    One is the list of search terms entered into Google or other search pages. These can be cleared by clicking on Edit beside "Other Forms" under AutoFill in Safari's Preferences. and deleting the entry for those sites. These lists can be eliminated by unchecking "Other Forms" which will also disable autofill in all forms.
    The other is the list of recent searches in Safari's search window. This list can be cleared by either clicking on "Clear Recent Searches" at the bottom of the drop-down list of recent searches and the other is by reseting Safari which will also reset just about everything that can be reset in Safari. I do not know of a way of keeping this list from being created.

  • Cmd+v doesn't paste in the file upload dialogue's search field in Safari

    In Safari 4.0.4 on OS X 10.6.2, cmd+v doesn't paste in the file upload dialogue's search field in Safari. It just makes an audio beep to indicate an error.
    Using a sample file uploader:
    1.) Visit http://upload.youtube.com/myvideosupload
    2.) Click the "Upload Video" button.
    3.) Select file(s) to upload to s.ytimg.com
    4.) Click on the search text field
    *5.) Cmd+V to paste text. Nothing happens.*
    However, if you right-click, "Paste" is not grayed out, and you can paste normally.
    This is for version 4.0.4, but this behavior has been present for as long as I can remember using Safari.
    Can anyone confirm this bug?

    HI,
    I can't confirm a bug but you can report it.
    From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Report Bugs to Apple.

  • Safari kicks me out of ebay after i login and my bank website???

    Safari kicks me out of ebay after i login and try to go to myebay or leave feedback. It asks me to login again and when i do the same thing happens. Same with my bank website too. It wont remember that i logged in even after i checked the box to remember my username. What is wrong with this?

    HI,
    First, go to Safari/Preferences then select the Autofill tab. Make sure; User names and passwords is selected.
    Now, open Keychain Access (Applications/Utilities). Select Passwords on the left.
    Right or control click: "Safari Forms Autofill" and both your "Apple ID" keychains. Then click Delete. Quit Keychain Access
    Relaunch Safari. Click Login. Type in your username and password. When prompted, click: Yes.
    You may also need to empty the Safari cache. From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Reset Safari.

  • Bing hijacking my safari smart search field

    Hi all,
    after updating to Yosemite recently I have noticed that whenever I type a search into the safari smart search field, the results are redirected through the bing search engine.
    I have tried changing it to Google, through the safari preferences and Duckduckgo too but its all to no avail. Everytime, the search returns bing suggestions. I hate bing, but I hate not having control over the search even more.

    I doubt that the uninstaller completely removes the malware. Like "InstallMac" itself, it's distributed by a criminal.
    You installed the "InstallMac" trojan. I suggest the procedure below to disable it. This procedure may leave a few small files behind, but it will permanently deactivate the trojan (as long as you never reinstall it.)
    Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. These instructions are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
    Back up all data before proceeding.
    Step 1
    From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
    Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including one called "Omnibar," and any that have the word "Conduit," "Spigot," or "InstallMac" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
    Step 2
    In the Applications folder, there may be items named "Installer," "InstallMac," "Reset Search," or "Uninstall IM Completer." Drag each such item to the Trash.
    Step 3
    Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.completer.download.plist
    Right-click or control-click the line and select
              Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
    from the contextual menu.
    If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
    from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    A folder should open with a file named "com.genieo.completer.download.plist" selected. There may be other files in the folder with a name beginning in "com.genieo." Move them all to the Trash.
    Move this folder, if it exists, to the Trash in the same way:
    ~/Library/Application Support/com.genieoinnovation.Installer
    Log out or restart the computer and empty the Trash.
    Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install this trojan. Chances are you got it from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad has a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
    You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the Internet criminal behind this attack has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.

    When creating a new window in safari, using command T, the marker have not activated the search field. It means you have to click there every time. Changed after upgrading to Mavericks. Anyone knows how to change this?

    Yes, you can do something like that. What you would do is create a button for each image and then hide them. When I do this type of thing I place all of the buttons on a template page and then hide the template.
    You can then use JavaScript to copy the icon from any of the hidden buttons to the main button that you've set up to display the image. For example, suppose you set up 10 buttons named b1, b2, b3, ...b10. The code to copy the icon from one of them to the button used to display the image (b0) would be something like this:
    // Get the icon from the b3 button
    var oIcon = getField("b3").buttonGetIcon();
    // Get  reference to the b0 button
    var f = getField("b0");
    // Set the icon of the b0 button to the icon retrieved from the hidden button
    f.buttonSetIcon(oIcon);
    // Show the b0 button
    f.display = display.visible;
    This code would go in the Mouse Up event of the smaller button.

  • Google Search Field in Safari

    Is it possible to change the Google Search Field within a Safari browser to be specific to the country you live in? Eg. I want mine to be a Google AU search field as opposed to just Google.
    Thanks.

    If you want to fix your Google search to Google Australia, I recommend that you download and install the free plug-in Glims:
    http://www.machangout.com/
    which not only does that but also much more equally useful stuff!
    (It adds items to Safari Preferences).

  • Where is the search field in Safari 6.0?

    I have completed the Apple Software update today of several programs, but have not yet updated to MT. Lion.  My Safari browser now seems to be lacking a search box/field in the upper right.  I think that prior to the update there was such a box in the upper right of the url address box.  Can this be restored, or am I imagining things?  Thanks.

    The search field is now part of the address bar. Putting anything into it other than a website address will perform a Google search.

  • Separate search field in Safari

    Ugh, I finally got around to updating Safari. I want to add my voice to others saying just how much I HATE not having a separate search field. Seriously, I might as well just use Chrome now. Making this one field is a horrible UX idea...aren't you guys suposed to pretty good at that? I hope the guy that thought that was a good idea is no longer working on Safari.

  • Is URL data in Unified Smart search field in Safari shared with Google?

    I note that Safari 6 now has a unified smart URL and search field.  Does this mean that every URL that is typed into this field is shared with Google?  In other words is this another way for Google to collect data about our online habits and which sites we visit and so on?

    Unfortunately, Google is still an excellent search engine. It isn't quite as good as it used to be, but still better than any competitors. Maybe things will improve. Here are some upstart search engines to try:
    duckduckgo.com
    Ixquick Search Engine
    MillionShort
