Safari wont go full screen

Like some of the other applications on my power book my screen for safari wont go max and cover my whole screen, i have to squint to read. Clicking on the green + thing wont maximize to the fullest.

L,
If your main problem is squinting to read, then you need to increase your font size in Safari and/or go up to the View menu and click on "make text bigger" a few times. You can als use the key combination of command and the plus sign to increase text size. This is a different issue than increasing the size of your browser window to full screen.
You can click and hold on the lower right hand corner of the browser window and drag it down and to the right as far as you want to fill the screen.
Hope this helps you avoid further eye strain.

You can achieve this by going into system preferences>general>uncheck "close windows when quitting applications."  The apps will open fullscreen next time, even after a reboot.  One caveat, the window will open in the last session left...
    Hope this helps!
Thank you, this resolved my question as well.

I just tested that since I hardly ever use full screen mode, this was the first time since I upgraded to Mountain Lion, and it worked fine for me.
Try shutting Safari down and see if that changes anything.
If that doesn't change anything, try shutting down and then rebooting.

  • When Safari is in full screen, the window slides off screen to the right after a short period of time.  How do I fix this?

When Safari is in full screen, window slides off screen to the right after a few seconds.  Does not happen if Safari is not full screen.  How do I fix this?

You are probably inadvertently swiping to another full-screen app. Are you using a magic trackpad? Does this happen without you touching anything?

  • Safari window to full screen.

Yes, a simple user question. How to get my Safari window to full screen?

Drag window's upper left-hand corner to the screen's upper left-hand corner, click and drag bottom right-hand corner resize triangle, and drag to the screen's lower right-hand corner. Why anyone would want to do that is beyond me, but that's it. AFAIK, there's no command shortcut that does it.

  • Bug? Menu Bar Not Accessible in Safari After Watching Full Screen Video

    Hi everyone,
I have had this Not accessible menu bar problem time to time while using Safari, and I finally figured out what caused it. It always happens right after you go to a full screen video mode, and then get back out, and now when you move the mouse curser to the top, menu bar doesn't show. Then a way to fix is by using the 4 finger gesture to go back to the desktop screen, and come back to safari (not too fast) and menu bar is again accessible. Why is apple not fixing this bugs? I have seen more thread about menu bar gone, so it's not just me.

Hit the escape key to exit full screen.
That may be a "works as expected/designed," but once you've exited Full Screen View, then reenter Full Screen View and play a video in full screen mode, the window switches out of Full Screen to display the video in full screen video mode. It doesn't stay in Full Screen view, like it is the first time around.
    EDIT:
Esc exits full screen video mode, but you still cannot access the slide-out menu bar with the button. Repeatedly pressing Esc does not exit Full Screen View, either. This only appears on the first invocation of Full Screen view and video mode. Once you exit Full Screen, the window behaves differently.
Note that we have determined this is only affected by HTML5 video. I have to do some more testing to figure out if it is ClickToPlugin that is causing the issue.
What's a good source for straight HTML5 video?

  • My bookmarks bar and toolbar do not drop down when Safari is in full-screen mode.

I just updated to Safari 5.1.5 this morning as well as OS 10.7.3 and when in full-screen mode, the bookmarks bar as well as the toolbar will not drop down.  Once I escape then I can see them fine.  I'm also having issues with dragging or dropping ANYTHING. A gost image of what I am trying to move shows, and will not go away unless I force quit Mail or Safari. Needless to say, what I ws attempting to drag and drop does not take effect.

    Hi..
I just updated to Safari 5.1.5 this morning as well as OS 10.7.3 and when in full-screen mode, the bookmarks bar as well as the toolbar will not drop down.
Click the title bar one time. The gray area of the window at the very top of your screen in full screen mode.
Not sure what you mean by, "anything", when dragging and dropping. Right or control click the content. There may be an option for saving that data for you from the menu.

  • How does safari open in full screen?

When I open safari, the page doesn't open in full screen, so I have to scroll sideways the entire time. How do change the page settings, so that safari automatically opens in full screen? Help!

You'll find a solution here (from savage-henry), at least it worked for me.

  • Why has my iPad safari changed to full screen

I'm not exactly sure when is happened but it must have been today as I would have noticed it before. I've had my iPad 3 for about 6 months and the entire time I've had it at the top of the screen there is always a black bar with the signal strength, the time and the battery life on it whether you're on the home screen, an app, safari or settings. Just now I've noticed that the bar remains in its place on everything else but when I enter safari the bar disappears and he entire screen is just taken up by the browser. I have no idea how or why this happened or what button I must have accidentally pressed to do that but I'm assuming the iPad didn't do that itself so is there a way to get the bar back?

Safari for iPad deosn't have a user initiated full screen view. Could have been kicked off bya specific web site, I suppose.
Open the Settings app > Safari > Clear History and then Clear Cookies adn Data.

    Hi,
You can try to '''Reset toolbars and controls:''' and '''Make Changes and Restart''' in the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Safe%20Mode Safe Mode] start screen.
If the problem persists, please try a [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles?s=profile&r=0&e=sph&as=s new profile]. You can later copy [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Backing%20up%20your%20information?s=backup&r=1&e=sph&as=s needed data] from the old profile to this.

  • How I do I set Safari Window to "Full Screen"?

Hi - this is a very simple question I am sure. I am using a new MacBook, and when I start using Safari, the window barely fills half the screen, rather than the full screen ( which I would like). How can I set it to do this? It is baffling me. You cannot drag the margins of the window to make the window bigger and the maximise button does not make the window any bigger! Help appreciated!!

Copy and paste this script to your Bookmark Bar.
    javascript:self.moveTo(0,0);self.resizeTo(screen.availWidth,screen.availHeight);
Give it a name like +Full Screen+. When you click on it you goto full screen. Works great. -GDF

  • Safari 2.0 Full Screen

How do I put Safari in full screen mode on my iPhone with 2.0?

    Unlucky so far, I'd say.
So, picking something in particular so we're on the same page... does this refuse to hide the bar too?
Is a New User Account the same ?
