Safe to retry Flex Web Service calls on HTTP request failures?

I'm using Flex's web services layer to make SOAP calls to a back-end server. Once in a while, those calls fail with a generic RPC fault that looks like this:
faultString="HTTP request error"
faultCode="Server.Error.Request"
faultDetail="Error #2032: Stream Error..."
When this happens, is it safe to assume that the server didn't get the message and retry an otherwise non-idempotent request?

Anyone have any ideas?

  • Web service calling in HTTPS, certificate, hostname wrong

    Hi
    Im triying to call a web service running in WSO2 Carbon and I cant do it because I was geting a exception asking for a certificate.I had success importing a valid certificate, but now I get the following exception
    HTTPS hostname wrong: should be <10.36.15.100>
    this ip is the one where the WSO2 Carbon is running with the web service Im calling.
    When I consume services running in other places I gat no problem and I can consume the service running in the WsO2 with the SOAP UI, so I dont Know what happend?
    Thanks
    Ray

    Glad to help.
    I actually had a similar problem a few weeks ago. I created a remote enabled FM in our R/3 system that was called by a program in our SRM system. When I ran the FM in R/3 it worked, but from SRM, no joy.
    Eventually, I found that I had mispelled a parameter in the calling program. Since, the FM didn't exist in SRM, the calling program couldn't report any syntax error or give a dump. I corrected the spelling and it finally worked.

  • Script example trigger web service call and populate request from adobe

    Hello,
    I'm trying to make a adobe interactive form that needs to be populated by a web service. I have one field : In the dataconnection that is the input for the web service request and this is bound to the request. I have a button that is connected to my web service. After filling in a new value and pushing the button I want the web service request to be triggered.
    Thus anyone has a coding example or more information about using web services directly from within a Adobe Interactive form ?
    thnx, Jasper

    Hi Jasper,
    You may refer the Adobe ddevelopment center for the docs related to the execute property of the button to trigger a web service.
    <i>Alternatively, if you do not want to create a button to execute a call to a Web Service, you can do it via Script.
    Assuming your Data Connection is named ‘LeasePayment’
    For JavaScript:
    xfa.connectionSet.LeasePayment.execute(0);
    For Form Calc:
    $connectionSet.LeasePayment.execute(0);
    execute(0) indicates no data merging
    execute(1) indicates all the data in the data DOM will be remerged.</i> - Adobe doc.
    hope this will help.
    Thanks andRegards,
    Anto.

  • Each WebI RESTful web services call brings HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found

    Hello,
    What could be the reason that each call into the WebI RESTful api delivers a HTTP 404 Not Found?
    We have the RESTful url and can connect to the web service.
    We see that when the WACS is not running we get a connection refused.
    We see that when the WACS is running but disabled the connect call hangs until timeout (after 1+hours).
    We think that the HTTP 404 we get with each WebI RESTful call (e.g. URL/raylight/v1/documents/12345678/variables, or links, or properties, or dataproviders ...) has something to do with an installation/configuration issue of the WebI RESTful api.
    It does not seem to be an access right problem.
    We found many patterns how the WebI RESTful api behaves when the access rights are not sufficient. Neither of them had the HTTP 404 in each call.
    How can we prove that the WebI RESTful web services functionality is installed and configured correctly?
    So far we checked the settings in the WACS, and the settings in CMC.Applications.RESTful Web Service. The settings there seem to be ok.
    What else can we check?
    Thanks,
    Bernd

    Hi Bernd,
    You can send a request to:
    [GET] http://<server>:6405/biprws/raylight/v1/about
    (this call doesn't need authentification)
    I don't really understand what is your problem. Is the hanging intermittent?
    Best regards,
    Anthony

  • Special Character XML Web Service call from Flex

    Hi,
    Let me first give a little background.
    I have to query and return data in XML format. To do so, I have created a custom DSC component. In cases where XML has special characters, LC throws error saying that XML is not properly formed. To over come this issue I used CDATA tag at DSC component. Now LC works as it should and I returns correct result.
    I have a web service call from Flex to get this XML result. Every time i trigger this web service I get an error message saying </document> tag is missing.
    I understand in Flex, web service returned data is wrapped in CDATA tag, thats what i causing all this issue.
    I am not sure, how to handle this situation, I am sure this is a common problem and there should be ways to work around it.
    I would really appreciate if any one could point me in the right direction.
    Thank you ..

    The web service has four operations in it, I need pingQuery operation execution code since it doesnot need any input value.
    I have used code something like this.. Any one please correct me if I am wrong..
    <mx:WebService
    <mx:WebService> id="webService" wsdl=""https://hydrogen.csd.sc.edu/axis2/services/AcademicHistoryService?wsdl
    >

  • Problem with java and flex web service

    Hi,
    I have a basic web service written in java using jax ws 2.1
    ri. I need to call it from Flex using the WebService class
    Annotations for the java web method :
    @WebMethod
    public void Login(
    @WebParam(name="server") String serverURL,
    @WebParam(name=AUTHENTICATE_HEADER,header=true,mode=WebParam.Mode.INOUTHolder<Authenticate Header>
    authHeader)
    When I try and call the service from Flex , it can't find the
    login method and attempts to call it fail. If I set the web service
    to RPC based using @SOAPBinding , the method is found but then
    there are issues with the authentication header.
    What do I need to do to get flex web services communicating
    succesfully with java ?
    Are there are any known compatibility issues ? Or guidelines
    for going about this ?
    Any help would be appreciated

    well Shay,
    i've used JDev's tools to developer and to deploy the web service: the war and ear files are automatically generates you to the end of the process.
    I have included all the files java and the compiled classes, but I do not have files jar.
    But don't works: if i create only one java class with all code inside then it works fine!!

  • Web service call - works locally but not on mobile?

    Hi,
    I have a web service call (the service is hosted on the cloud so it's an external, permamnent domain) which works fine when I'm testing it locally using the Flex Buritto built in emulator or directly using my browser.
    But when trying from an android phone (tried a few of them - nexus one, nexus s and galaxy tab) the service is being called but never returns anything.
    Is there a good way to trace to call / understand the problem?
    Thanks,
    Nir

    Oh. well that would explain alot of it. its not a stupid question we are all learning. You have to put a crossdomain xml in server on the root directory. there are alot of different ways to implement it.
    this should point you on the right direction.
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/articles/crossdomain_policy_file_spec.html
    here is a very basic format basically allowing anyone to call my service.
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <!DOCTYPE cross-domain-policy
      SYSTEM "http://www.macromedia.com/xml/dtds/cross-domain-policy.dtd">
    <cross-domain-policy>
      <allow-access-from domain="*" />
    </cross-domain-policy>

  • Communication Warnings for Web Service Calls

    The Flex 3 documentation states:
    "SWF files that are assigned to the local-with-networking
    sandbox forfeit their local file access. In return, the SWF files
    are allowed to access data from the network. However, a
    local-with-networking SWF file is still not allowed to read any
    network-derived data unless permissions are present for that
    action, through a cross-domain policy file or a call to the
    Security.allowDomain() method."
    However, when we embed an SWF with a sandbox type of
    local-with-network in a PDF file, when that PDF file is read off
    disk we get a large volume of warning dialogues -- one for each web
    service call that the Flash makes. Since the SWF is
    local-with-networking, we assumed that these communications were
    allowed but the prompts create a very poor user experience. We have
    an appropriate crossdomain file set up. What else do we need to do
    to avoid these prompts?
    Terry. ([email protected])

    Folks, any thoughts?
    I appreciate your help.

  • LCDS web service call throwing error for valid XSD URL

    Hi,
    I am trying to call a web service which is deployed on a J2EE application[ Project name : WebServiceApplication ] through a different LCDS application [ Project name : lcdsTestWebService] But while loading of mxml following error comming into console.
    Can any one explain that why Flex application is looking for DocTypeTestService_schema1.xsd  into lcdsTestWebService application when this xsd is
    present in WebServiceApplication project.
    One intresting point which i found that if i place this xsd into root of lcdsTestWebService application so that it is accessable through
    url = "http://localhost:9080/lcdsTestWebService/DocTypeTestService_schema1.xsd" than there is no issue and web service call sucessfully
    happen.

    I received a workaround by an internal message.
    The how to guide is :
    -Download the wsdl file (with bindings, not the one from ESR)
    -Correct it in order that the schema corresponds to the answer (remove minOccurs or other things like this)
    -Deploy the wsdl file on you a server (java web project for exemple). you can deploy on your local
    -Create a new logicial destination that point to the wsdl file modified
    -Change the metadata destination in your web dynpro project for the corresponding model and keep the execution desitnation as before.
    Then the received data is check by the metadata logical destination but the data is retrieved from the correct server.

  • Is it possible to make synchronous web service calls?

    Hi all,
    Is it possoble to get a web service call to block and wait
    for a response rather than doing it asynchronously using
    flex/action script?
    thanks

    In support of the flash player's design I'm going to have to
    disagree with you here. It is completely normal in any multi
    threaded environment to make all functionality non blocking by
    default. Blocking by design can be implemented with semaphores, and
    is not a hack. To implement simply create a flag such as
    'hold:bool' init it to false when your application starts. Set it
    to true just before the web services send() method is called. In
    the result handler you set it back to false.
    In this way you have complete control over what should be
    blocked and what should not be blocked, by simply testing the
    'hold' semaphore. In this way the GUI itself, and all non dependent
    functionality stays alive. A timeout value would arbitrarily block
    all functionality for a fixed amount of time if the request was
    never filled. Although a semaphore could be used to do this as
    well, it has far more flexibility, and users have notoriously
    shorter timeout values than developers.

  • Synronous Web Service Call

    Is there a way to make a web service call synchronously? In
    other words, I want to call the web service an wait for the result
    before continuing.
    Thanks!

    What are you trying to accomplish here? Are you trying to
    keep the user from doing anything until the return of the service?
    Or are you trying to stop all processing until the return of the
    service? Becuase Flex 2 is an event-driven architecture, I'm not
    too sure you can do the second one. However, if you want to keep
    the users from doing thing, you could put the cursor to a wait
    cursor and disable your forms until the service returns.
    It really depends on why you need the web service call to be
    synchronous.

  • Weblogic app server wsdl web service call with SSL Validation error = 16

    Weblogic app server wsdl web service call with SSL Validation error = 16
    I need to make wsdl web service call in my weblogic app server. The web service is provided by a 3rd party vendor. I keep getting error
    Cannot complete the certificate chain: No trusted cert found
    Certificate chain received from ws-eq.demo.xxx.com - xx.xxx.xxx.156 was not trusted causing SSL handshake failure
    Validation error = 16
    From the SSL debug log, I can see 3 verisign hierarchy certs are correctly loaded (see 3 lines in the log message starting with “adding as trusted cert”). But somehow after first handshake, I got error “Cannot complete the certificate chain: No trusted cert found”.
    Here is how I load trustStore and keyStore in my java program:
         System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStore",”cacerts”);
         System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStorePassword", trustKeyPasswd);
         System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStoreType","JKS");
    System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStoreType","JKS");
    System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStore", keyStoreName);
         System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStorePassword",clientCertPwd);      System.setProperty("com.sun.xml.ws.transport.http.client.HttpTransportPipe.dump","true");
    Here is how I create cacerts using verisign hierarchy certs (in this order)
    1.6.0_29/jre/bin/keytool -import -trustcacerts -keystore cacerts -storepass changeit -file VerisignClass3G5PCA3Root.txt -alias "Verisign Class3 G5P CA3 Root"
    1.6.0_29/jre/bin/keytool -import -trustcacerts -keystore cacerts -storepass changeit -file VerisignC3G5IntermediatePrimary.txt -alias "Verisign C3 G5 Intermediate Primary"
    1.6.0_29/jre/bin/keytool -import -trustcacerts -keystore cacerts -storepass changeit -file VerisignC3G5IntermediateSecondary.txt -alias "Verisign C3 G5 Intermediate Secondary"
    Because my program is a weblogic app server, when I start the program, I have java command line options set as:
    -Dweblogic.security.SSL.trustedCAKeyStore=SSLTrust.jks
    -Dweblogic.security.SSL.ignoreHostnameVerification=true
    -Dweblogic.security.SSL.enforceConstraints=strong
    That SSLTrust.jks is the trust certificate from our web server which sits on a different box. In our config.xml file, we also refer to the SSLTrust.jks file when we bring up the weblogic app server.
    In addition, we have working logic to use some other wsdl web services from the same vendor on the same SOAP server. In the working web service call flows, we use clientgen to create client stub, and use SSLContext and WLSSLAdapter to load trustStore and keyStore, and then bind the SSLContext and WLSSLAdapter objects to the webSerive client object and make the webservie call. For the new wsdl file, I am told to use wsimport to create client stub. In the client code created, I don’t see any way that I can bind SSLContext and WLSSLAdapter objects to the client object, so I have to load certs by settting system pramaters. Here I attached the the wsdl file.
    I have read many articles. It seems as long as I can install the verisign certs correctly to web logic server, I should have fixed the problem. Now the questions are:
    1.     Do I create “cacerts” the correct order with right keeltool options?
    2.     Since command line option “-Dweblogic.security.SSL.trustedCAKeyStore” is used for web server jks certificate, will that cause any problem for me?
    3.     Is it possible to use wsimport to generate client stub that I can bind SSLContext and WLSSLAdapter objects to it?
    4.     Do I need to put the “cacerts” to some specific weblogic directory?

  • How can I use web service call for edit a report with SSRS in Java Struts2 web application

    Hello im new in SSRS technologie and I would like make web service call at my SSRS server. Is sombody can help me ?
    - What API should I import in my project ? I use Maven can I found this API on Maven repository ?
    - I would like have an sample of code which initialize the ReportingService, do the call and process result.
    We use the SQL Server ReportingService 2008 R2 and currently we made HTTP call like this : http://<ssr_server>/ReportServer/Pages/ReportViewer.aspx?%2fSSRS_OMB%2fMyReport&rs:Command=Render&MyParam=<value>
    Regards

    Hi ombinte,
    SQL Server Reporting Services provides access to the full functionality of the report server through the Report Server Web service. Because the Report Server Web service is an XML Web service which uses Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) over Hypertext Transfer
    Protocol (HTTP), any SOAP-aware application or development tool can communicate with the SSRS web service.
    There are three primary ways to develop Reporting Services applications based on the Web service, please see:
    Develop applications using Microsoft Visual Studio and the Microsoft .NET Framework SDK.
    Develop applications using the rs utility (RS.exe), the Reporting Services script environment.
    Develop applications using any SOAP-enabled set of development tools.
    For more information about Report Server Web Service, you can refer to the following document:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms152787.aspx
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,

    Your business logic has to be implemented by using OIM APIS. oimclient.jar..
    you can then expose these business functions accordingly using a webservice or rest ...
    for business logic refer:-
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E27559_01/dev.1112/e27150/apis.htm#OMDEV734
    You will basicsally have to deal with UserManager class for managing users.

  • Setting the attachment name in web service call scheduleReport

    Hi there,
    I searched the forum for this, found lots of threads but no useful solution...
    I am using BI Publisher 10.1.3.4.1 and I need to send a PDF report by email using its web service functionality. This works fine but the report is attached as "attachment.pdf" which is far from ideal. Is it possible to specify what the attachment should be called (e.g. "veryimportantreport.pdf")
    See below an example of the web service call I am doing.
    Thanks

    We are using BIP to generate reports from Apex and it works very well, except for this small detail.
    By the way, you sound very sure; are you related to Oracle in any way (I mean, is this an "official" answer)? I can't tell from your profile...
