  • Mapping for South Africa

    Hi,
    Does anyone know when we should get good mapping (street level maps, directions, POIs etc.) for South Africa? Especially with the 2010 FIFA World Cup being in SA, surely we are soon on the list of getting good maps?
    Regards,
    Rob

    are you sure ? I have detailed maps on Google Maps from a desktop browser. I can see big street names for example. What you say means that the maps for Google Maps desktop and for Google Maps Mobile are not the same. Very interesting.
    There is no street view though.

  • Issuing Manual Tax Certicates for South Africa

    Hello
    Good Day!
    We are having scenario that an employee has resigned and we need to issue his IRP5 now. We found out from Oracle_HRMS_Supplement_for_South_Africa document that Oracle HRMS for South Africa enables us to create manual tax certificates and to record the manual certificate numbers in Oracle Payroll so that electronic certificates are not also created. We got the information from the document that we need to run the ‘Manually Issued Tax Certificates’ program to record the manual certificate numbers in Oracle Payroll. But this document does not have any information on how to generate the manual tax certificates. I tried to search it in Metalink but could not get the information on this functionality.
    Any help ?
    Thanks

  • Import Process for South Africa

    Dear All,
    My client KLT Automotive is based in India.It has plants in India at several locations.They have put a new plant in South Africa.The procurement process will take place from India as well as South Africa.South Africa  will also Import goods from KLT India.
    According to South Africa taxation, only VAT 14% and Customs Duties are applicable on Import Goods.I would ike to know how will the process flow will take place in the SAP system.
    As for India Imports the following are the steps:
    1.Import PO
    2.Commercial Invoice/Bill of Entry
    3.Goods Receipt
    4.Invoice for the foreign vendor
    I tried a similar process ,but the pop-up for Commercial Invoice does not come during Goods Receipt.The currency in PO was ZAR(South African Rand ) and commercial Invoice was also ZAR (South African Rand ).Was this the reason because which I could not enter the commercial Invoice number during Goods Receipt?

    Hi,
    The process is same as below.
    1  Import PO.
    2. Commercial Invoice/Bill of Entry.
    3. Goods Receipt.
    4. Invoice for the foreign vendor.
    And in PO for custom condition type enter local Vendor, which is having local currency as ZAR (South African Rand) by selecting lens button.
    While capturing delivery cost during MIRO system will proposes this vendor and the currency will flow from vendor master. Then do GR and Invoice for the foreign vendor in other country.
    And if both the plants are in same company code then follows STO process and even if it inter company code still you can do STO with by creating vendor/customer in supplying and receiving plant.

  • Customs Warehouse solution for South Africa?

    Hello Experts,
    Is it possible to implement Customs Warehouse solution for country South Africa?
    Is it possible to do it without development and from standard GTS10.0 product?
    Customer also needs to generate Customs duty drawback for all Imports and Exports from South Africa. Is it possible?
    If all of the answer is yes, can you please guide me where to look for and share documents/links if possible.
    Best,
    Ethan

    Hi Ethan,
    The CWH functionality is built around EU requirements, but probably the ZA requirements are very similar.  The problem will be in generating the associated Customs Declarations; there you will need development - either of the electronic messages or the traditional printed forms.  Neither of those are included in the standard GTS product.
    GTS supports IPR, but predominantly the "suspension" regime.  Drawback is not allowed in the EU these days, and GTS does not support it as standard.  It would be possible with non-standard developments, and the extent of those would somewhat depend on how the drawback is claimed.

    Dave

  • Itunes Store for South Africa

    Hey guys!!
    Will Itunes/Apple EVER allow other countries other than the US to purchase music, TV shows etc? I live in South Africa and the itunes store only consists of an app store... I use an iphone 3G as well, and love Apple....

    Hello everyone. I am just as upset about the fact that we cannot purchase content from the Apple iTunes store, but they do have a valid and understandable reason why this isn't possible.
    Local Media Companies will suffer a great loss due to the fact that their music and tv shows are slightly older then that in the USA, and they also like to be the first to release such content.
    With South African's purchasing the latest TV shows on iTunes there would be no point for having DSTV since the TV shows on the iTunes store are newer then those on DSTV. This is just one example of what great drama this could cause for local businesses.
    Now the other option for apple would be to create a separate store for each country offering only the content that is available to that country as chosen by the local media. This on the other hand would take a lot of work, and a lot of money. I think that Apple is focussing on other things first, such as the new iMac's MacBook's and Magic Mouse.
    Hopefully one day.. (SOON!! Please Steve?) They will expand the iTunes store globally. With a separate content collection for each country in order not to infringe on copyrights and broadcasting rights.
    I will patently wait..

  • N78 Update for South Africa

    Hi,
    Does anyone have a clue when the latest version will become available here in South Africa. I'm still on 10.136 and having major issues with bluetooth connectivity. I've noticed from posts that it seems to have been corrected in v11, but alas my phone doesn't find any updates and now I can't connect to my hands-free kit in the car on my new phone!!! Arrrggg. Help appreciated. Thanks :-)

    now I've just got to figure out a way of getting the network operator to help out.
    Network operators aren't very cooperative on the whole. There are many hurdles to clear before you can get any joy out of them.
    Firstly, the front-line personnel that you speak with when you call customer service and when you visit one of their stores don't usually have a clue what has actually been done to the phones. They don't know what firmware is, let alone branded firmware. The idea is therefore to convince them to escalate your query to someone who has two brain cells to rub together (not easy to find in most telcos). If/when you do get to speak to someone, there's a 99% chance they'll blame the lack of updated firmware on Nokia. They almost invariably do that.
    The thing you have to bear in mind is the politics and the huge amount of money involved. Any one operator buys tens if not hundreds of thousands of handsets from Nokia, so if Nokia decided to start debranding those handsets, thus removing the stuff that the operator had put on them in order to "protect their revenue streams" (read: fleece the end-user), the networks would simply stop shifting Nokia handsets and make a deal with another manufacturer.
    Nokia Care Points can debrand a phone for you, change the phone's product code and install the latest, generic Nokia firmware on it, but only if these conditions are met:
    1) the phone must not be SIM-locked (i.e. it must work with any SIM, not just one from your operator)
    2) you must have written permission from the operator to debrand the phone, clear out the operator-specific firmware and install Nokia's generic firmware.
    If those two conditions are met (the first is easy enough, the second is as good as impossible), a Nokia Care Point will change the phone's product code, update it to the latest firmware and print out a new product identification label for the battery compartment.
    This is the only way to go about it legitimately and without voiding your warranty. Any other methods you might find on the Internet, which involve software not sanctioned and provided by Nokia, will void your warranty and therefore cannot be discussed on these forums.
    Good luck!

  • Power Plug for South Africa?

    I'm planning a trip to South Africa this summer and want to take my computer with me. I've heard of those conversion plugs that you can buy at Radio Shack and here are my questions:
    1. Are those converters safe to use with my MBP? I've heard some stories about the converter causing damage to little appliances like alarm clocks, but haven't heard anything about computers.
    2. Would it be possible/better to get a cord from Apple that is specifically for use in South Africa (not America)?
    Thanks for the help.

    You don't need a converter; the Mac power supply is multi-voltage. You will need a power cord adapter. See for example: http://electricaloutlet.org/type-m

  • HT204411 Why are games & music not available for purchase from AppStore & iTunes for south Africa?

    I get a cannot connect to ITunes error when trying to access iTunes store.  Also I cannot doWnload certain games from AppStore.  After searching I found out that these options are not available in South Africa.  What would the reason be that certain countries don't have access to these options?

    Hey ascott57. This is also disinformation. I have personally spoken to the head approver of games in the FPB in South Africa. The rating charge is only applicable for DISC-based games that are sold in stores, so that parents can identify the games for an age group and also for stores to know when not to sell a game. When a game is sold on a mobile system, it is automatically exempt from this rating system, as the selling platform has automatic parental guidance systems built-in.
    There is NO reason why developers are not allowed to publish games to South Africa on the iTunes App Store or Mac App Store. This is Apple not having a section, so developers cannot even target that category, because it simply doesn't even exist.
    I registered as a games developer for iOS and when I found out that if I develop games for iOS, I can't even publish it to my own country, I let my developer registration lapse on purpose in protest.

  • Localization of MVC3 application for South Africa

    My mvc3 application is localized to support many different countries.  Mostly everything works fine, but in a few countries I've run into problems.  The biggest of which is South Africa.  They use commas instead of periods in decimals and
    when the thread is set to en-ZA my controllers will not receive any decimals posted unless it is a whole number.  I can not duplicate this in local development, only when application is posted to Azure Cloud.  Russia which uses commas as well works
    just fine, which leads me to believe it is some sort of configuration issue on Azure.

    I was able to get around the problem using a decimal model binder that used decimal.parse instead of convert.todecimal  I think it odd there is a difference between them but at least problem was solved.
    public class DecimalBinder : IModelBinder
    public object BindModel(ControllerContext controllerContext, ModelBindingContext bindingContext)
    var value = bindingContext.ValueProvider.GetValue(bindingContext.ModelName);
    var modelState = new ModelState { Value = value };
    object result = null;
    try
    result = Decimal.Parse(value.AttemptedValue, NumberStyles.Any);
    catch (FormatException e)
    modelState.Errors.Add(e);
    bindingContext.ModelState.Add(bindingContext.ModelName, modelState);
    return result;
