Same Technical System multiple Business systems?

Hello,
We have a unique (atleast i felt it) landscape where we have 2 Prod PI system. We have divided out interfaces logically into 2 categories and they will run on the respective prod system. Both this prod have its own SLD and hence there is no issue here.
The issue is with the Pre-Prod where like prod we have 2 PI systems (and 2 integration servers) but they both share the same SLD. We have only one SAP R/3 backend system and hence we have only one technical system in the SLD but this SAP R/3 system has to connect to both the Pre-prod systems for different interfaces. For this to happen we have to create 2 Business systems with the respective PI pre-prod Integration Server. But SLD doesnt allow to create 2 business systems for the same technical systems.
Is there any way around this as we cannot change the SAP R/3 system and also cant have different client in R/3 for each of PI Pre prod.
This is a major roadblock and requires your expert advice on how to proceed in this scenario.
Regards,
Yash

Shitij,
You are correct in understanding that the requirement is to create 2 business systems for the same technical system with same SID (S*1) and same client.
The reason i need this is because I have 2 PI system P1 and P2 with 2 different integration server which share the same SLD. Now when i create a business system for S1 i specific the inegration server for P1 and add this business system in the transport target for P*1.
How will i do the same for P2? I cannot create a new business system for S1 with integration server of P2 and add it in the transport target for P2. If i dont do it i cannot do any transports as it will give error like no Business system found in SLD.
Hope i made it clear.

  • When I can reuse Business and Technical Systems in IR and ID

Assuming the case(1 scenario) when I already created All SLD object Business System , technical system, SWC and product for interface scenario when file is send from R/3 MM module(Outbound) to XI through File adapter and than mapped and send to 3 party partner via firewall ftp server... All SLD object exists and are created.
In a different scenario(2 Scenario) the 3 party partner will have to send via XI some MM related data and XI will have to feed this data into R/3 via different type adapter – this time Idoc adapter(Inbound)
    My questions are:
1)In 2 scenario - Can I use same already created 2 Business systems for both R/3 and 3 party partner or I need to create new ones?
Or at lease can use one of the business systems. With words – is the Business system dependable on type of adapter, inbound/outbound ?What is the criteria for reusing business system for second scenario?
2)In 2 scenario -Can I use same already created Technical systems for both R/3 and 3 party partner or I need to create new ones?
Same questions here...for technical system  -  can I reuse it  and when I need newone...
    Thanks all
    Regards
    Jon

    1. If u r posting data to the same R/3 with same client then u can use same WebAS ABAP Business System. U can use same third party business system for this.
The criteria for reuse is just that if the systems are same (in case of R/3 - the clients should be same), then u should reuse it.
2.Only 1 Technical system is created for one R3 system. This will be of type WebAS ABAP. So u will have to use same Technical system for both the scenario
For 3rd party case, u can use different technical system, but that would be redundant. So better to use one.

  • Can One Business system have two technical systems assigned to it

Can One Business system have two technical systems assigned to it

    hi,
the technical system describes the physical view and the business system the logical view, respectively.
So in most cases you must define both but while a technical system can only link to one WEB AS, more than one business systems can link to the same technical system.
But one Business System can have only one technical system.
Logical system for senders and receivers in XI can be defined as business systems which is associated with technical systems. You may req to create BS for identifying individual senders and recievers. Technical system is gateway having the technical details and it is in the ID we designate it to be either a sender or a receiver.
Follow the link below to learn moer on it:

  • Can One technical system be assigned to multiple BS system

    Hi All,
I just need small confirmation, i want to know wether one technical system(ABAP) with same client be assigned to multiple busines system..
    Regards,

    Hi ,
No, you cannot have 2 BS for the same technical system and same client.
(you can have different BS for every client of a technical system)

  • Same folders in different business areas

    Hi,
Is it possible to access folders across business areas?
I was not able to do the above so I created (New folder from database) the same folder into 2 different business areas. But I cannot have the same names. Why? I see some folders created previously with the same names in both the business areas. Is there some other way?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello everyone
Business area names, folder names, and join names are unique across the system. It is possible to have the same folder in multiple business areas and this is not uncommon. It is also possible to reference the same object using multiple folders, making sure the identifier and folder names are unique.
If you have a folder that you want to duplicate, rather than share between business areas, you can highlight the folder in one area, copy it using CTRL-C, and the using CTRL-V paste it into the other area. Doing this gives you a copy of the folder pointing at the same underlying object. This is useful if you want to reference the same object several times, say for aliasing purposes or for ease of querying. I do this all the time when working with fiscal time folders and it works like a dream.
    Hope this helps

  • 3rd party tech systems for multiple business systems...

I think this might a very stupid question but still would like to post it..:).. In a 3parties involved scenario, can 1 technical system be assigned to multiple business systems , if all business systems refer to the same 3 party..or does each 3rp party business system needs its own technical system..
Also I need to move only 1 product and the SWCV assigned to the product to QA..I do not want to export entire SLD..By exporting this single product and importing into the SLD of QA, I hope it will not overwrite the SLD components of the QA box but add this new product as delta.
    -Teresa

    Hi Teresa,
    >>>Also I need to move only 1 product and the SWCV assigned to the product to QA..I do not want to export entire SLD..By exporting this single product and importing into the SLD of QA, I hope it will not overwrite the SLD components of the QA box but add this new product as delta
I believe you can only do an incremental export/import
sld does not allow importing/exporting one product...
Remember to do a backup of your QA SLD
    (from the SLD - administration)
then if you make a mistake nothing will happen
    about the second question:
<i>"Business systems, which name the logical receiver independently of technical properties. For example, a business system might be a client of an SAP system.
Technical systems with which the hardware of the system is specified in more detail (server data, and so on)."</i>
this should be possible not only for SAP systems

  • Multiple Business systems

    Hello,
Can Multiple Business systems be associated with one Technical system in SLD and assigned in D ?
    Regards,

    Hi,
    > Can Multiple Business systems be associated with one Technical system in SLD and assigned in D ?
    It is possible.
You can create N-number of business systems (if ECC system then we can't create more than one business system by using the same client value) for a particulat technical system.
For any application system we can create only one technical system.

  • Multiple Business Systems for Multiple Receivers?

    hi,
idoc > xi -> multiple receivers with xml payload
I have a scenario where i have to configure multiple receivers for each Supplier from an IDOC. All the receivers will be either HTTP or SOAP.
When the mapping would be the same for all the Suppliers but during configuration we have to determine the receiver based on an IDOC value to route the xml via HTTP or SOAP
For this to achieve do we have to create multiple business systems for each receiver?
If i create a receiver in the business service how can we determine the interface mapping in this scenario?
    Thanks,
    Tirumal

    Hi Tirumal,
<i>For this to achieve do we have to create multiple business systems for each receiver?</i>
As you know,Business system is a logical name for the Techincal Systems, Theoretcially it is not required to create different Business systems for the each receivers.
Generally Business Systems are grouped/created based on the Business Process/Functionality/Type of Receivers etc.
So if you think, your each receiver is of type different type/process then create different Business systems.
    It depends~
If you create Business Service, then you need to add your Message Interfaces explicitly into the Business Service( By open the Business Service->You can see the Sender/Receiver Interface tabs).
    Hope this helps,
    regards,

  • Technical Systems and Business Systems

    Hello Everybody!!!
I have some doubts, can you help me, please???
    1) Technical Systems are application(software) systems, ok? They aren't hardware systems, ok?
    2) In my SLD I should have a SAP ECC system as a technical system and each of their clients as a bussiness system, ok?
    3) For third-party systems, where the client concept doesn't exist, I should have one technical system and only one business system for my third-party system, ok?
    thanks a lot
    Julio

    hi  julio ,
ur view is correct  except in the technical system .
    1)   technical systems are the physically  located systems in which we can create only technical system for any physically  located system .
    2)   bussiness systems are logical  systems . according  to the type of technical  system we can  create the no of bussiness  systems .
technical system of type W AS ABAP  we can create multiple business systems as there is the concept of clients .
technical system of   third party   we can  not create more than  one business system  as there  is  no  matter  of  client .
    3)   so  for  every  third party  systems  only  one   business  system  will  be  there .
    some  important  points :.
atleast  one   business  system  will  be  there  on   any   system .
we  can   create   more  than  one   business   system  on  third  party systems .

  • Business System and Technical System ??

    Hi Experts,
Please tell, What is the Technical System and Business System. How many Technical and Busniess Systems do we have in XI ?
    Early responses are welcome.

    Hi,
    Business systems:
Business systems are logical systems, which function as senders or receivers within PI. Business systems can be SAP systems or third-party systems.
Depending on the associated technical system, the following types of business systems are defined in the SLD:
    Web AS ABAP:
A business system, which is associated with a Web AS ABAP.
A business system, which is associated with a Web AS ABAP, can play the role either of an application system or an integration server. An integration server is the central component of PI, which provides a framework for the exchange of information among various internal and external entities of a company. The integration server facilitates the interaction between the different operating systems and applications across internal and external networks.
    Web AS Java:
A business system, which is associated with a Web AS Java.
    Standalone:
A business system, which is associated with a standalone Java application.
    Third-party:
A business system, which is associated with a third-party technical system.
    Technical systems:
Technical systems are application systems that are installed in your system landscape. An example of an application system is a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) server. In the SLD, there are five types of technical systems:
    Web AS ABAP:
Web AS ABAP technical systems, ranging from any SAP system to an APO server or CRM server, are based on the same Basis Component (BC), which includes the ABAP interpreter, ABAP Dictionary, ABAP Workbench, and so on. A dedicated database, which stores most of the data of the BC and the application components, is associated with the system.
    Web AS Java:
Web AS Java systems consist of one or more instances and each instance is installed on a separate host. An instance itself consists of cluster nodes that can communicate with each other.
    Standalone Java:
Standalone Java technical systems are standalone Java applications that are installed in a computer system from an administration perspective. They can also be installed as an operating system service or as a daemon.
    Third-Party:
Third-party technical systems contain third-party software components and products.

  • Technical system definitions on multiple SLD servers in a SAP landscape

    Hi,
If we want to migrate an SAP SLD server from Solution manager application to ECC application(s). In this process solution manager's SLD server data will be migrated into multiple servers at ECC environment(say for example, we define one SLD server for all development systems and one for Production systems).
Is it required to have all technical systems of SLD servers to be same? (I mean do we have to have all the technical systems defined on Dev SLD server to be available even at PRD SLD server?)
Thanks in advance for all responses.
    NetWeaver admin.

    Hi,
Yes. If you configured some technical system which reports data to your DEV SLD. And you want same data should be replicated to PRD SLD then you can configure data bridge between DEV SLD and PRD SLD. Then your DEV SLD will replicates its data to PRD SLD.
In order to  configure data bridge, you can check below link:

  • How to Create  Software components , Technical systems , Business Systems

    Hi,
How to Create  Software components , Technical systems , Business Systems and Logical Systems
and Link between them. foe different adapters.
    Ponts will be awarded..
    Regards,
    Jayasimha Jangam.

    Steps to create software component,
    1. Goto SLD --> Software catalog
    2.select new product
3.Fill the Vendor, Name , version and choose create
4.now go back to the SLD main page and then choose software type as sofware component
    5. select new component and in the next page select your product which you have created in the previous step
6.then give your vendor, name and version and choose create
    7. now the sofware component is created, you can import the same in you integration repository for your scenario
Go through the following link which gives you a clear idea about technical, business systems,

  • Regarding business and technical system

    hi
Iam having a doubt, i want to create a business and technical system in SLD .
But already a business and technical system was defined in my SAP 200 client ,
Is it possible for me to create one more business system in the same SAP200 client

    Hi,
like mentionend above this is not possible.
BTW it was already asked in this thread:
Re: One Business System Per Client
The question is: Why do you need the second Business System?

  • Regarding Technical system or Business sytem

    Hello,
What is the difference between Technical system and Business system. What makes the difference between these two. Already we are taking physically located system as Technical system, So instead of using technical system directly in the scenario, why should we go for Business system. Is there any technical information.
    Thank you

    Hi,
    Business system
Business System is a logical rep of a Technical System. Technical system can be a physical machine, it have a IP. Can be a ERP, J2EE etc. A Business System is a logical term that we use into the Business Scenarios and represent these Technical System that we had created
    Technical system
Basically Technical system is a physical system. That means a machine with certain machine mane. While on the other hand a business system is a virtual system which resides on technical system. So there is possibility that there can be more than one business system working on single technical system to make proper utilization of resources. Even though they a on same physical system there is no interference among them.
So instead of using technical system directly in the scenario, why should we go for Business system. Is there any technical information.
A very good question. Suppose if you are using the technical system directly in your scenario if any upgrade happens in the techincal system like if your ERP upgraded from 4.7 to ECC then you need to change every ever where you define your techincal system details. so for that purpose you define business system. If any upgrades happens you can make change only at the begning and then you are pointing it to business system it will take care every thing. Hope you understand
    Thanks

  • Technical System Vs Business System

    Hi,
Can anybody briefly explain me about the following 2 queries:
    a) Why do we need to create Business System, When we have Technical System in our hand?
b)why do we need Message Type? When we have Data Type in our hand,
    Cheers.,
    Xeon

    Hi Xeon,
Check these two links for why we use business system and technical system:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/42/c817d9d2296bb2e10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/24/8fa93e08503614e10000000a114084/frameset.htm
For Data Type and Message Type and Data Type see below:
A data type is a basic unit for defining the structure of the data for a message type and, as a result, for the message to be exchanged
->A data type is a basic unit for defining the structure of the data for a message type and, as a result, for the message to be exchanged.
A data type is an XML Schema Definition (XSD). This definition determines how the valid payload of a message will look. Data types in XML schema are only an abstract description of a structure that you can assign to elements in an XML schema definition. A message type or a fault message type that references a data type determines the name of the root element of a message.
    2)Message Types
A message type comprises a data type that describes the structure of a message. At the following points in SAP Exchange Infrastructure you can refer to the message to be exchanged at runtime by using the message type:
    · More than one message interface can use the same message type. For example, an asynchronous outbound message interface and an asynchronous inbound message interface can reference the same message type because the request message does not need to be mapped.
    · When defining a message mapping you can directly reference message types to map messages from an outbound interface to messages from a receiver interface.
