Samsung N150 Verizon mini + adding Virgin mobile broadband 3g USB

I got the Verizon mini notebook 2 days ago and am having a heck of a time connecting my Virgin mobile broadband 3g USB adapter. I disabled the laptop network card and I followed Virgin's directions and still no internet access. I cannot get a hold of Virgins customer service. Is this thing even possible? Thanks, Mark

Go to Verizon or T-Mobile sites and check their coverage maps
for 4G.  If it is not available, you have what you have.

  • Virgin Mobile Broadband incompatible with Snow Leopard?

*Has anyone had this same problem?*
After I installed Snow Leopard, it was not compatible with some of my software (specifically: Virgin USB Mobile Broadband) and I ended up having to revert to Leopard 10.5.8. It seemed there was nothing else I could do as the software would not work at all on the new OSX. It just kept crashing. As it is my internet software and the only access I have to the net from my Macbook, I wasn't able to gain access to the net to try and get an update or a fix from the Virgin Site, or Apple.com.
Does anyone have any idea when things like this will be ironed out In Snow Leopard? As I don't want to reinstall it knowing that my internet software will be incompatible again.
    *Thanks heaps in advance. Soph*

The software installed as part of the virgin mobile broadband is coded to look for a 10.5.* or less. It crashes when it finds 10.6.*
As a work around i installed the huawei driver and manually configured the APN and dialup preferences and it worked fine and used far less CPU time
When i called Virgin tech support they were pretty vague and said that a hotfix should be available in a few weeks!!

  • Virgin mobile broadband dongle on Lion no longer working

I uploaded OS lion last week and since then my broadband dongle has not worked. Calls to Virgin mobile have proven fruitless and they never seem to pick up the calls and I can't seem to find any threads online about people with similar problems. The dongle still functions on a windows pc that I have from work. The dongle worked well on Snow Leopard.
    Any ideas?

I spnt some considerable time on the phone yesterday to both Virgin and Apple trying to resolve this problem.  The guy from Virgin (who, try as I may, I found all but impossible to understand) gave up after 5 minutes when he realised (and I said it at least 5 times) that I was using Macs. not PCs, so his advice to go to Control Panel was wasted.  he put me through to someone else who I cojld understand but who flatly blamed Apple.
Apple's response was fast and very efficient.  Since the dongle works on a PC (which it does) and works on a pre-Lion Mac (which it does), the problem is with the Virgin softeare which is not compatible.  The guy from apple pointed out that it is not Apple's responsibility to solve the problems of other hardware provides (all of whom were advised about Lion before it was released).
Virgin, in this as in so many other things, are a waste of time.  I am now arranging for the dongle to be unlocked so that I can use it with Three data cards (which do work with Lion).  I will be suspending my Virgin account until they resolve the issue.  I will not hold my breath.

  • Why won't my iMac or airbook (using 10.6.8) recongnise my Samsung galaxy S3 mini when I connect it via USB?

I'm trying to connect a Samsung Galaxy S3 mini to my iMac (using 10.6.8).
I used to be able to do this easily (fairly) with a Galaxy S2, but now neither my iMac nor my Airbook recongnise with S3 mini when I plug it in.
IS there something in either the phone or computer settings I need to change to make this happen?
    Help appreciated.
    Thanks
    Rob

I have to have 2 service providers to make sure I have coverage everywhere possible.  I have a S3 on Verizon and went to go get my 2nd phone at ATT, it was the day before the iPhone 5 came out.  I was tempted, don't get me wrong.  I have had an iPhone in the past.  But for me, I'm tech savvy, rely on my devices so much given the amount of travel that I do and the amount of info that I need to have with me on a  regular basis, both nationally and internationally, and went for the Red GS3 on ATT.  It was close, but the removable memory, able to have 80gb of memory with 16 built in and a 64gb card on ATT/96gb on the Verizon model with 32g built in and a 64gb card vs 64gb max on the I5, great camera on both, and running andoid system (which i really prefer over iOS on my phone, and I have an iMac, iPad2 x3, and a MBP13", so usually and apple girl).  Otherwise, spec wise, it's fairly a draw.  Yes, people copy, and lawsuits are everywhere, including against the I5 by HTC for the 4g guts, its a personal preference.
Since my initial issues with syncing I have had no problems since on either phone once I had the settings right to sync.  Good Luck!

  • Virgin Mobile Broadband 2 Go

As a recent Mac convert, I wanted to move my Virgin Broadband 2 Go USB 3G modem to my new MacBook, and after endless runarounds from Virgin and two weeks worth of emails, was finally told that the modem is not supported in Snow Leopard.  In theory, I can make it work in BootCamp (have not tried this yet) but if you're considering buying one, don't.  If you've found a workaround other than using it in Windows, I'd love to hear it.  For the record, trying to get service from Virgin is slightly more unpleasant than plunging long rusty steel needles deep into your eyeballs.

It does work in Snow Leopard, but only if you boot the 32-bit kernel.

  • I upgraded to mountain lion. Now my virgin mobile broadband internet card will not work

I uninstalled the broadband software and then tried to reistall it but it will not work. I pluged in my usb card but it doesn't show that it is pluged in. I tried the card on my girlfriends computer and it works. I pluged a camera in my usb port and that works. Can anyone help me out.
    Thanks

My internet card will only work on 32bit,and it sounds like mountain lion only works on 64bit so that must be my problem. I think I will have to upgrade my internet or go back to lion.

  • Samsung N150 - can mine be unlocked for used with Chuang Hwa Telecomm's prepaid data service

The netbook is marketed as global ready, and has a SIM slot.
I have owned this for about a year.
Next month, I plan to travel to Taiwan.  Chuang Hwa telecomm has a prepaid 3G data plan 500NT$ for 7 days that seems to be a very good deal.
Question is if the netbook (or the Gobi chip) needs a unlock code to use with a foreign SIM.
    Does any one know?
Better yet, has anyone used Chunghwa's prepaid data plan?

    Hello alin43:
Yes, that 3G prepaid data plan does sound like a good deal!  When using another carrier's 3G SIM, you must first unlock your global device.  If your device and line of service qualifies for the Unlock, this would be handled by Verizon Wireless Global Support Team.  They can be reached M - F 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Eastern Time at 800-711-8300.
Let us know if this answers your question, and well wishes on your trip next month!

  • Windows 7 not recognizing device - Dell Wireless 5620 EVDO HSPA Mobile Broadband Mini Card

Windows 7 is not recognizing my Dell Wireless 5620 EVDO HSPA Mobile Broadband Mini Card (Qualcomm Gobi 2000).  I can't even uninstall the driver, it says that I don't have "sufficient permission" to stop device or something to that effect
(though I'm an administrator).  I also can't re-install the same or different driver.  I might have installed the wrong driver, though this is supposed to be the correct one according to Dell after typing in my service tag.  I went to the FTP
to get one specifically for "Verizon Wireless", but I can't uninstall the prior driver.
How can I fix these issues?  Thanks.

    Hi,
    Any update?
Have you tried safe mode mentioned in the first reply? What is the status of the driver in device manager? For "Verizon Wireless", have you installed any verizon software or related verizon device? Uninstall this kind software, then uninstll driver again
    as a test.
Contact this support, maybe they can give some different ideas.

  • Am a new user have the iPad mini have the virgin mobile wifi as have not Internet connection but it loses the connection and have to call to have them reset device is there another way for wifi service thank you terrie

Am a new user have an iPad mini and have virgin mobile mifi device for wifi, as this is the only Internet we have but it keeps going out as they are upgrading there system and I have to call at least 3 times a day to reconnect is there another way or other service for wifi that would work instead, I am not good at these devices thank you terrie

Windows 7 Home Basic does not support ad hoc or hosted network functionality (what Connectify and Virtual Router use). At a minimum you would need to upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium. Note the Applies to these editions of Windows 7 statement at the right in this article.
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Set-up-a-computer-to-computer-ad-hoc -network
Again using a broadband wireless (WiFi) router is the best way to go presuming its in your budget.

    Hello,
Did you find a solution because I am having the same issue with my Sony Vaio SA. It has a Gobi 2000 and works perfectly on Ubuntu 14.04 and all other distributions I have tried so i know the hardware is fine.
I dont get the message repeating although I can get it like that by using the firmware from the AUR. If I use the firmware I got from my previous Windows installation then the error only occurs when turning the device on. This is so annoying
    I get the following:

As of today, 9/13/2006, neither Verizon nor Sprint offer a USB based solution for Mobile Broadband.
Does anyone know of a company that does?
Also, what are the options for people that want Mobile Broadband, but don't have a Type II PC Slot?
    Thanks!

Get a cellphone with the capability to act as a Bluetooth modem. Then you can connect from your iBook to your cellphone with Bluetooth and then from the cellphone to the cellular data network.

  • Why is Windows 8.1 causing my Verizon Mobile Broadband USB Pantech modem to auto connect/

Why is Windows 8.1 causing my Verizon Mobile Broadband USB Pantech modem to auto connect? If I turn it off in Windows Settings I can not get service. As I am on a 5 GB plan I do not want my internet running at all times nor do I want o have to disconnect from the internet every time I turn my computer on.

        mebpapa,
Hmm. That is a bit conflicting. After all, we don't want you to have to worry about usage running up or having to get disconnected each time you get on the computer. Ultimately, this is a software functionality of Windows 8.1 however. Have you noticed a high increase of usage when the auto connect is left on or are you just taking precautionary measures?

  • ThinkPad W530 Mobile Broadband Mini Card

    Hi all.
I've recently buyed a ThinkPad W530 (Lenovo Model Number: N1K4JIX).
Tecnical sheet and distributor sheet say that in this model there is an "3G Open SIM" WWAN card. In fact, i've under the battery the slot for insert my 3G Telephon VODAFONE SIM.
The problem is that i not can see nothing (software or hardware switch) that can control 3G Broadband connection.
I update the notebook at Win8, with shipped Lenovo CD, i try to install ERICHSON drivers but this give me error (it's impossible initialize device).
Now, my intret is in first how i know if i really have an Mobile Broadband Mini Card installed and not only the SIM slot and, after iìm sure of this, how can i enable and use 3G connection with my laptop?
    Thank very much at all,
    regards,
    Mauro.

Don't hold me to it but the Wan Miniport 2 I don't actually think is the Ericsson card
If the drivers aren't installed it would display under other devices if it was included in your system
A lot of W530 systems to my knowledge don't come with the WWAN installed, it is WWAN Upgradeable and has a Sim slot and the antennae cables already there, mine was like this and I had to remove the keyboard and install the WWAN card (cost : £100ish)

  • DELL WIRELESS 5560 HSPA + Mobile broadband Mini-Card - Win 8

    Good morning everyone.
I have a big problem with ultrabook "YOUR 3460."
I updated the S.O. Windows 8, but the "DELL WIRELESS 5560 HSPA + Mobile Broadband Mini-Card" does not work.
On the website of DELL, I found a type of driver, but installing it in the device manager, does NOT recognize the card. How do I proceed? Can someone help me, please? Tomorrow I need to connect mobile ...
    Thank you.

    Hi Fabio79,
Please check in BIOS if the WWAN card is detected in BIOS or not. Also, is the wireless driver (network controller) listed in device manager under 'Network Adapters' or 'Other Devices'?
Turn off the computer, restart it and press F2 key as soon as the Dell logo appears.
Navigate to 'Advanced' screen, select 'Miscellaneous Devices' and press Enter.
Check if 'Internal WWAN' is enabled. Navigate to Exit screen and select 'Exit Saving Changes'. Once done, download the drivers from this link: http://dell.to/XEzTO0.
    Hope this helps.
Keep me posted with the status.
