San Francisco Bay Area BART

Yesterday morning prior to heading out via BART for MacWorld I downloaded schedule and map data for the iPod.
In trying to follow their install instructions below they ended up making no sense to me as I did not see what they say should be seen. Just wondering if anyone may happen to know how to add data like this to the 'notes' portion of the iPod? TIA
Follow below are BART's instructions with their downloaded software:
Transferring BART Schedules to your iPod
Transfer the schedules into your "Notes" folder using your iPod's external disk feature:
Download "BQPiPodSchedules.zip" and decompress it with WinZip (PC) or
StuffIt Expander (Mac);
Enable disk use on your iPod and mount it as an external disk;
In Mac desktop or Windows Explorer, drag the four data folders ("BART weekdays," "BART Saturdays," "BART Sundays" and "BART Stations") into your iPod's "Notes" folder;
Unmount your iPod and you're done!
To view BART schedules and station information, scroll to "Extras" then "Notes." Select a day of the week, then the station, then view departure times by line direction. Install all the files or just the days and stations you need. As with other notes files, it may take a while to load the first time. For more information on using your iPod's Notes function or enabling Disk Use, check out your Apple iPod documentation.
Transferring the BART System Map to your iPod
Transfer the map into your photo library just like any other photo using Apple iTunes:
Depending upon your Apple iPod model, download "BQPiPodColor.zip", "BQPiPodNano.zip" or "BQPiPodVideo.zip" and decompress it with WinZip (PC) or StuffIt Expander (Mac);
In iTunes, with your iPod connected, select your iPod in the source list (lower right) then click the "Photos" tab;
Select the iPhoto album you just created (Mac) or select "Syncronize photos from..." and choose the BART System Map folder;
Click OK and the images will be transferred to your iPod.
To view the BART System Map, scroll to "Photos" then "Photo Library". For more information on transferring or viewing digital images on your iPod, check out your Apple iPod documentation.

1. Download StuffIt Expander to your computer and use it to open the downloaded file.
2. Follow the instructions in this article.
3. Double-click the iPod icon on the desktop and look for the Notes folder on the iPod; if it doesn't show up, start typing its name or scroll the window until it comes into view. When it is open, drag the contents of the folder created in step 1 to it.
4. Control-click the iPod in the Finder and choose Eject from the menu which appears.

    This shows you what's going on with my connection. These are in chronological order:

  • Is Edge working anywhere in the San Francisco Bay Area, M-F between 9-5?

    I'm in Oakland, right off the freeway. It was up and running (albeit slowly) this morning, was able to send out an email at 7:43 A.M..
    Nothing when I tried it at 11:00, nothing now at noon. Paying $20 month to AT&T for their Edge service seems crazy.
    Is anyone else out there still having EDGE problems? (Especially, anyone in the Bay Area?) Trying to get on here from 9-5 is pretty much impossible.

    Shelia, I live and work in downtown San Francisco (Russian/Nob Hill) and have no problem connecting to Edge. It is working just fine, albiet a bit slow but it does work fine. If you'll take a look at the AT&T Wireless Coverage viewer for the SF Bay Area you'll be able to better pinpoint the reliability of EDGE.
    It is here: http://www.wireless.att.com/coverageviewer/

  • Recommended Apple repair facilities in San Francisco Bay Area?

    The Apple Store just told me that I need to have the ExpressCard slot replaced on my MacBook Pro. They said I need to take it to a 3rd party certified repair center to have the slot's metal frame replaced, but had no recommendations on where to take it unless I wanted Apple to ship it away for me.
    I'd like to physically bring one in so I don't have to have the risks, costs, and most importantly time delays associated with shipping.
    Does anyone have any recommendations on really good, and really fast-turnaround repair centers I can take it? I live in Foster City, and work in San Francisco. Those locations are preferred, but I will also go somewhere in Marin or the Fremont area.
    Note that my MacBook Pro IS under warranty, so I'm looking for certified repair facilities that will conduct the service under the terms of my warranty.
    Cheers,
    Dan

    Let me get this clear... so something is broken that was in your computer when you got it from apple.... its something that "they" had installed in their factory.
    If so... than they are pulling your leg.... You have to get back to them and make clear that this is their problem Not yours..... If you have it repaired somewhere els they can always claim that the problem could come from that.
    Stop putting all your trust in Apple and take control.
    So to sum it up again.... If the thing that is broke (what ever it is) was in the machine when you got it from apple, they have to repair it... there is no discussion about it.
    If they are telling you they are not allowed to order something they are full of s*.... why would they not be allowed to buy anything.
    Don't worry I have had dealing with people over the phone and in the store similar to this and I just ask if they can give me someone who is allowed to make real decisions and they will always comply with you.
    There is a policy to make it your problem first before they make it their own.
    I hope this helps and that you get your machine fixed soon.

  • Possible San Francisco Bay Area Assistance Needed

    Hello,
    I'm in a bit of a jam and it's possible (about 50/50) that I may need a bit of assistance in the Bay Area next Thursday or Friday.
    Apple is likely going to replace the motherboard on my Mac Pro this week.  Unfortunate.  It is covered under Apple Care, but the delay impacts my April 19 deadline for my film.
    I have about 24 gig of video data from a Sandisk UDMA 32 gig card that I would like to offload so that I can shoot my final footage next weekend.  I have a 32 gig thumbdrive we can transfer it to.
    The footage was shot on a Canon 5D and I would like to borrow someone's PrPro software here in the Bay Area, if necessary.
    Alternatively, I could Fed ex the card and pay for return fedex as well.
    Thanks for considering this.

    Thanks Hunt.
    Looks like I better go out and purchase a copy of the hilarious book "My First Movie" an interview with 20 famous directors about the fiascoes and adventures that accompanied their first film:

    I backed up my media, but didn't have a spare MacPro when its motherboard went down!

  • Only in Firefox browser when a person types in Buddhist Church of San Francisco they are taken to a link that leads them to a Canadian pharmacy. Why?

    I work at the Buddhist Church of San Francisco.
    When others trying to find our website search in Modzilla: "Buddhist Church of San Francisco" They are taken to a link that looks like our home page bcsfweb.org. When they click on the link, they are taken to a Canadian pharmacy. I've been getting calls that we've been hacked. When you type bcsfweb.org into the url bar, our site comes up. When you search Buddhist Church of San Francisco in Chrome or Safari you are taken to our home page. It's just Modzilla. I've notified them through email and haven't received a response. I've left a voicemail on an 800 customer service number no response.
    Any ideas why this might be happening or how to navigate to the right office to notify Modzilla of this problem?
    Thank you,
    MBrown

    Yes.
    Your website's server has been hacked.
    This happens when you click a search result on the Google results page and the referrer is enabled (network.http.sendRefererHeader = 2).
    *https://www.google.com/search?q=http://bcsfweb.org/
    So you need the check the DNS servers.

  • LTE- San Francisco-  Speeds are horrible

    When I first got a VZ 4GLTE jet pack, I replaced my home internet over a year ago. I was getting speeds of over 10Mb/ 2Mb up at my home in the Haight area of SF 94117. The last 3 months speeds have been horrible.  I've tested speeds in different parts  of the city using Root metrics and Speedtest.net on both my Jetpack and my HTC DNA phone.  I now receive  1-2Mb/1 if I'm lucky.  From July 18th-yesterday  I was averaging 384K and for half of sunday not getting any speeds.
    My performance in downtown SF  has also deteriorated. I rarely get anything above  3Mb from my office on Pine and Front. Why am I paying a premium  for Vz LTE . I've been getting the same performance as Sprint's 3G.  Many of my peers in tech share the same frustration at Vz's lack of capacity planning for LTE.  Please advise on what is being done.
    Thank You
    Mike

  • Live in the San Francisco area and want to participate in an Adobe usability study?

    Adobe is conducting usability studies in San Francisco from 6/23 to 25. If you are interested, please respond to

    eh?
    wat is a usability study?... are you concerned that Audition is not "usable" lol...that sounds rather odd...I think it's quite usable, in fact I have no idea what exactly what would prevent one from using it?

  • There are some sma;l; weather icons in the upper right. However they show weather for New York. How do I change that to San Francisco?

    The small icons for weather just appeared. I used to have a weather for San Francisco box on the main opening page for Google, but everything I had there simply disappeared one day. These small weather icons appeared at the upper right . They are for New York.
    I would klike to change them to San Francisco, but actually I would like to GET BACK what I had before. No idea why it disappeared.

    Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
    1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
    2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
    Click to view full size
    3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
    NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • Poor network performance in busy areas of San Francisco

    Verizon LTE coverage seems to be very poor in certain parts of San Francisco. The connection seems ok at 2 or 3 bars on 4g, but data connections are very slow. In particular along 18th street between Church and Castro, and Castro Street from Market to 20th, and finally the North East side of Corona Heights park. I have a Galaxy S5, I've tried resetting a few times. Also, I've been walking with others on verizon that have the same issue, as well as people on other carriers that didn't. Any hope of seeing better coverage in the near future in those areas?  There are several people considering switching over this.

    Post a URL so we can test the page.
    My "guess" is that Flash is the video format and Snow Leopard (10.6) actually installs an "out of date" version (fixed with the 10.6.1 update).

    No they don't unless You buy an external BD-burner with Playback program (if they ever exist).
    As it looks like Apple is leaving the DVD disk format too so Blu-Ray is not on the list as I read Mac Worlds and alike.
    I use a PlayStation 3 - and it works very well.
