  • Tables in which basis users details are stored

    Hello,
I'm writing an application to read Basis users details using JCO. But I'm not able to locate in which tables the users details are stored. I tried looking at USR* tables, but most of its tables doesn't have data. Only usr01 and usr02 are having some relevant data. I also tried looking at ADR* tables, which are again of no use.
If anyone knows in which tables Basis users details are stored, please let me know.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Chandrasekhar.

    Hi Chandrasekhar,
SAP users are stored in the usr01 table (see transaction SE16.)

  • SAP-Basis system: Transaction canceled 15

    Dear Gurus,
    We have ECC 6.0 on DB2 9.1 fp 5 on windows 2003.
I am getting this error in syslog.
    SAP-Basis system: Transaction canceled 15
    Thanks
    Rao.

    Thanks for reply
This is the log in SM21.
Can you tell me how to do this in sap or database level.
    &CAUSE&
When the update data is reorganized, it deletes inconsistent
(incomplete) update requests. While one user is carrying out a
transaction, the the update data is often in a state of incompletion.
When the transaction is completed and the update begun, the data becomes
complete. If the data is reorganized in productive operation, temporary
inconsistencies may get deleted. A data inconsistency with incomplete
    data can therefore arise.
    &SYSTEM_RESPONSE&
Reorganize the update tables only where there are no users logged onto
    the system.

  • What are the sap basis administrator tasks for SAP CRM 7.0

    Hello Guys,
I am an SAP BASIS administrator. I have never worked on any CRM system.
Now a days people in market talk much about wheather you have worked on CRM.
I have  no idea how CRM basis administration is different from the basis administartion of other products based on netweaver.
I would appreciate if someone throw some light on "SAP basis administration of CRM system".
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi,
Some excellent documentations are available in:- https://websmp205.sap-ag.de/crm-inst (search for the operation guide pdfs, if required you can also check inst/upg docs). User your S user id/password to login.
From my experience, in practical field most of the issues you will face with qRFC/BDoc message flow handling and JAVA stack administration. Stress on these two areas and go through the guides, CRM admin won't be a major issue.
Once you go through the basic operation guides and start working on the system then you will come to know there exists many CRM specific trx(SMW02,SMWP..etc) codes and CRM related tables(CRMPAROLTP,CRMRFCPAR.. etc),bgd jobs/reports - which you have to take care at times.
    Thanks

  • CAreer in SAP BASIS comaprision with SAP GRC/Security

    Hi Everyone,
I am an SAP BASIS consultant with 2 years of experience working in a MNC company,
I want to change my career to SAP GRC/SAP Security, i have some basic knowledge on SAP Security,
COuld you please advice me, which one to choose,?
Does  SAP GRC/Security has demand , and can we get oportunities to work abroad compared to SAP BASIS ?
which one has more scope SAP BASIS or SAP Security/GRC ?
Because in BASIS, i am not getting enough scope to work on some good things like Installation, upgrades, Migration,
i am doing a very basic kind of work like tranports, job scheduling, monitoring, and other small activities ?
So request you people to advice me ?

    Hi Rakesh
I saw your post in GRC and was waiting of it to appear here
First up - 2 years is still junior. You may find batch jobs, transports, monitoring, etc all mundane but it is a foundation and learning ground work and foundations to being a good Basis Administration. And one things for sure, an awesome basic (I name my best-techy-friend) makes a huge difference on project timelines and deliverables for the rest of us.
Installation and Upgrades come with time. Whilst still performing junior tasks you could focus on reading up on approaches in case an opportunity in your job comes us and be prepared to prove to your management that you are ready for a bigger responsibility.
Switching to GRC/Security would be pointless unless you have a desire to learn GRC or Security. These are my background and they are undervalued until things go wrong (insurance policy in a way).
If you do switch you will reset your 2 years of domain experience back to 0 and you will start off with password resets and basic user administration
It takes time to work through the ranks. It was 3 years before I got to build my first role. I spent my first few years in security on email chasing approvals, password resets, user account creation, running reports for audit - sounds familiar to what you are doing now?
You have to master the basics before you are trusted and ready for the more complex activities. By knowing what you are doing now you will be more successful when the time comes to step up and do migrations, upgrades and installations. Support production by mastering you technical analysis skills is how you can break through being a fresher/junior
    Regards
    Colleen
Ps - if your motivation is more than "good things" happy to answer questions specific to security and GRC.
Also, boring doesn't mean it can't get interesting nor does it mean it's a worthless activity: SPAU transport imported before patching!!

  • Strategy for SAP Emergency User Management

    Dear All,
currently I am working in the authorizations team of an SAP ECC 6.0 implementation.
As we had no Emergency Users in the past, we want to introduce them at least in the new system.
I would appreciate any experiences regarding Emergency Users. Especially regarding the strategy: how many Emergency Users to set  up? To whom to assign (who should be aligible, only SAP BASIS Team or also to the functional team). Approval processes for Emergency User requests.
I would appreciate your feedback and an open discussion on this questions.
Thanks in advance and Best Regards,
    Mehmet

    Best Practice for Authorisations ?
you can use SUIM T-code for all the requirements you mentioned. coming to Emergency user, make a sheet and protect it auto password which would let you know how many times modified .
should be controlled by Basis person.
    regards

  • SAP BW User getting locked by BO RFC calls

    Hi,
we are encountering a problem with BO RFC calls locking SAP BW users that recently changed their password in BW.
Description of the problem in the ticket we raised at the SAP support:
SAP BO 4.1 SP2 Patch 4, linux installation
    Backend: SAP BW 7.01 EHP8
    BICS interface with SAP authentication
One of our users gets locked again and again in SAP BW (P19). The cause is a RFC connection that the BusinessObjects server (P59) tries to establish. The user used SAP BO last Friday for the last time and had to change his password in P19 this Tuesday. We think that there is some
process within SAP BO still trying to connect to SAP BW from time to time, using the old password. There is no open session visible for that user in the CMC. User is even getting locked when not in the office and during night time. RFC calls are established almost regualary every hour.
We already had this behaviour in our test-system. Restarting the BO-Server solved it. However, this is not the solution we want to use
in the productive environment. There has to be some way to kill the process that uses the old password on the BO server without restarting
the whole server. We do not understand why BO would still try to connect to BW with the old password - this has to be some kind of a bug.
Meanwhile the error disappeared for the first user (some days after it started, maybe the BO process ran into a timeout). However, other users started having the same behaviour after changing their password.
Our basis team tried to check the log files for advanced information on the conversations between BO and BW, but did not find any hints on which BO process might try to establish the connections.
The SAP support seems to be a little helpless at the moment...
    Has anyone had similar problems?
    Regards,
    Robert

    Hi again,
additional information: after approximately one week after the error appeared for the first time BO stops trying to establish the rfc connection for this specific user. Almost as if the "old-password-BO-process" ran into a 1 week timeout or something like that.
The problem is really strange. The SAP support is still not able to tell us how the gather the information they require.
    Regards,
    Robert

  • Generation of SAP BASIS 7.10 USERDETAILS failed

    Hello to all,
i hope anybody can help me. I have installed a new MI 7.10 and patched it to Lvl. 7 (ABAP and BASIS).
Then i tried to do all the necessary steps for administration as they are described in
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwmobile71/helpdata/de/45/17a790d8000064e10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm
But whenever i came to the step Downloading Details into User-Details Data Object the step failed. Now i searched this forum and found that i have to generate the Data Object USERDETAILS in the SWKV SAP BASIS 7.10. This step also fails with an error message 'Attribute RFC_DEST already exists' and the backend Adapter USER_DET_BA is not generated.
Anyone an idea how to solve this problem?
    Best regards,
    Mathias

    Dear Mathias,
You have to do the step with the RFC Destination created. Did you select the load type as Initial Download? (Edited to contain the word Download)
Did you check out the  following notes for SP07: 1263664, 1268773. Please make sure that you apply all the compulsory notes.
Also try restarting the server and trying the step again.
Also, just as a confirmation, are you doing it from the client you created or client 000. Are the general post installtion stms, initial profiles done?

  • SAP BASIS - Can System Admin experience (Non-SAP) transfer into SAP Basis?

Greetings everyone, I hope you are well this weekend.
I've heard how great SAP careers are for the dedicated and I'm doing my research to find out if an SAP career is viable and if so which is a good entry point. I've read a book by John Von Aspen and in his book he suggests starting out in a customer service rep position for an SAP company as an end user to use as an entry point, but for my background is there another way?
I'm a computer science graduate of DeVry in Atlanta with Technical Support experience and I'm currently working in an IT customer service position. My career has only begun and I'm in the process of mapping out the best route to start in SAP. I'm looking into BASIS as a starting point out of all the functional modules and technical roles available but I am open to all areas. If the next point in my career map were a System Administration role, and if I were to have a few years experience in that role, could I transfer the skills gained into an SAP BASIS administrator? Between now and then I would have done much self study from books and any online courses I could afford. However would I still be short of what a hiring manager is looking for if I don't have an direct experience with SAP Basis?
If such a path would not be viable, what would be the next best step to take coming from Tech/Customer Support?
    Thank you,
    Sabir

    Hi Sabir
I have not read his book so cannot comment too much on that. However, I did a quick search and saw his background is CRM. Perhaps his recommended career path was an example based on his background?
It sounds like you are a planner which is a good trait to have if you are determined to switch over. What sort of technical support are are you doing? If you are a recent graduate you might be able to look to apply to graduate programs in some consultancies (I won't mention names but if you google SAP consultancy graduate position you will find a heap of names).
As far as getting across to Basis the sort of research you could do is look at the SCN communities for System Administration and see they times of themes of the questions. To transition from general system administration to SAP you could look at skilling up with Databases (e.g. Oracle), Operating Systems, Networks, etc. These skills will compliment the Basis skill set but also protect your investment should a SAP job not work out - you still have skills to be valued elsewhere.
In relation to training and education, you want might to research about the SAP Learning Hub. If you are good at self-teaching and learning online this would be a good way for you to invest in training and go at your own pace and keep your cost down. There is a free discovery edition for you to see what the course content it like but it does not give you much of the system administration component.
I would hold off going for any certification (cost) unless until you some experience (unless ofcourse, it becomes a requirement for the job).
The final bit for getting into SAP is investigate the companies that use SAP. Keep looking out for job opportunities to join one of them and then find a way to move into the SAP system administration area.
Good luck with it all and if you have any specific question let us know
    Cheers
    Colleen

  • SAP Basis Security in Sales order pricing - Help required

    Hi,
    My requirement goes like this:
The ability to view cost and margin should be restricted
The ability to add discounts and update price should be restricted
Sales Directors, Sales Managers, Revenue Recognition and members of the Sales Ops team will be allowed to view cost and margin
Sales Directors will have the ability to add controlled discounts (i.e. up to a pre-defined % value)
Sales Ops will have the ability to add discounts without restriction
Sales Ops will have the ability to maintain price overrides
These are governed by Condition types such as PR00 etc., can you control it by using Authorization objects in sales order Item Condition tab for the particular USER?
    In T.code: V/06
For E.., EK01/EK02, double click on it....You can find a sub screen "Changes which can be made". There u can enable whatever required by tick marking ...e.g., amount, value, delete etc.,
Pricing procedure will be normally designed for a sales AREA and group of customers/Documents.
Condition type values are stored in the form of condition record by using T.code: VK11. It is stored in table KONV and KONP.
    So, actually client needs like:
Some users should NOT be allowed to change the price/discount.
Also some are to shown in DISPLAY mode only.
Some can add some conditions types too.
Is it possible through SAP BASIS security?
I am waiting for your valuable suggestions.
    Regards,
    Anbu

Yes it is possible to restrict authorizations for condition types using authroization objects. Some user exits need to be used to meet the requirement. Refer OSS Note 105621 which gives a detailed procedure for customizing Authorization check for the condition screen.
