SAP BW 7.4 on Non-HANA database

Hello SAP Experts,
                                     I am in urgent need for some documentation about SAP BW 7.4 on Non-HANA databse i.e. either or Oracle or anyother database.
I tried searching google, scn but not able to get even a single line about it.
Please help me. TIA.

  • Use SLT to transfer to non-HANA target

    Tobias Koebler, is it possible to use SLT to replicate SAP source tables to a non-HANA target while still using HANA as a target? This would have to be a multi-usage to both HANA and OtherDB.
    The only information I can find is this post SLT to non HANA database | SAP HANA, with some workaround info, but that is based on an older DMIS_2011 release.
    When I look in a system at DMIS_2011 SP5 I can clearly see these options, but during configuration setup I cannot select these targets. Is this a placeholder for a future release or maybe I am missing some trick to enable? Is this enabled by 'REPL_ENABLE_OTHER_TARGET' in table DMC_RT_PARAMS?

    Hi Justin,
    the multiple usage flag is not HANA specific. So it would also work for other scenarios.
    The replication to non-ABAP targets (directly addressing Oracle, MSSQL, all SAP supported DBs) is at the moment not part of the product license. Technically it is working but not completely E2E implemented for all use cases. If customer want to go for this, we can work in a very small project together and directly safeguard it. If missing pieces appear we will deliver it within the project, in additon we enable you and afterwards you have the right to use it also for other systems. So for now this is nothing officially available with the product. If you are interested just reach out to me and we find a solution. But anyway it is on the roadmap we plan to release it on one upcoming SP's.

    I didn´t found any document which cover this type of activity. Can you tell me if there are some SAP documents/guides with that instruction how to update a SAP Hana DB!?

  • I want to connect SAP HANA database (Default database) using JDBC connection URL.

    I am using trial account .at sap cloud server.
    What will be my URL of SAP HANA database for Trail account.
    For ex:

    I had User and password but what supposed to be used in place of IP and Host ?

  • SAP HANA Database Migration

    Dear Experts,
    We are plan to Migrate our BW server 7.2 ( under oracle 11.2 database )  to HANA database.
    BW system Hardware is normal ( not HANA supported hardware ) we purchase separate hardware related to SAP HANA
    1. What is the procedure to Migrate oracle database to HANA with Minimum downtime
    2. Both ( Current BW system and HANA machine are different Architecture and Physically in different machine then How can we migrate from SUM with DMO
       Because are per different document I read, they can not clear that SUM with DMO process running with same server our BW and HANA server is    different physical machine
    kindly guide me what is the procedure with my scenario where BW and HANA are different physical servers

    Dear Shahid,
    Inorder to migrate BW on AnyDB(Oracle,DB2...) to HANA DB we can use the DMO option which is the part of the SUM tool.
    Generally to migrade any SAP Application from AnyDB to AnyDB we have meet the minimum requirements of the Target and perform some task where will need a downtime. These include
    1) Unicode Conversation
    2) SAP Upgrade of the Application Components in the source system
    3) DB Upgrade of the Source system.
    4) Dual Stack Split
    Once the above are satisfied then we need to perform
    1) System Copy Export
    2) Copy the exported files to the Target system
    3) System Copy Import
    This would result in two live system
    1) Original source system with source DB
    2) New Migrated System with NewDB
    Using the DMO option of SUM we perform Upgrade & Migrate in one step, there by having only one downtime. One of the major feature of DMO is that we do not have to upgrade the DB.
    The result of the DMO option in SUM is that the DB of the SAP Application is migrated from AnyDB to HANA DB. The SAP application will continue to run on the original host where it was running prior to migration.
    DMO does not move the SAP Application to HANA Appliance/Hardware.

    You can login to SAP support site and download the Trial version of the software which will be available for limited period of time.
    As of such there are no sites which will provide you with the system for Hands on because maintaining the same is quite costly.

    So please guide me which OS available freeware?

    SAP HANA database stores data in virtual form or  physical form in database ?

    No. The processing is not "done on RAM" (sic). The processing is done in the processor.
    That's the problem of using the "in memory" terminology.
    It is not "in memory processing", it is "in memory storage", and I think that is where your misunderstanding starts.
    As an analogy:
    The state of the DB systems:
    Traditional DB:
    Main Storage: Disk <==> Secondary Storage: RAM <==> Processing: CPU
    In Memory (HANA):
    Secondary Storage: Disk <==> Main Storage: RAM <==> Processing: CPU
    That is the reason why HANA is faster: the physical database lives inside the RAM

  • SAP Kernel update with HANA DATABASE

    Dear experts,
    I am planning to update the kernel  with HANA database. It is my first time  that I apply a kernel with HANA  and for that reason I want to be sure everything is properly planned. I have updated kernel with Oracle databases and my biggest doubt is if I have to do something in the database, what would it be?
    I have looking for any note that help me  with a step by step but I couldn't find it.   In that order I will ask you based on your own experiences.
    Current  Kernel is 742 PL28, I am planning to update to PL 101.

  • Error while accessing HANA-Database

    Hi all,
    I try to access the HANA-database (installed as secondary database).
    The table is replicated in HANA and I have created a program in ERP with the following procedure:
    SELECT * FROM [table]
                     CONNECTION ('HANADB')
                     INTO lt_table.
    HANADB is the database connection name for HANA (table DBCON).
    By running the program I become the following error:
    The file "dbhdbslib.dll" is already in the folder "C:\usr\sap\IS0\DVEBMGS00\exe\". Any idea what is missing?

    But I can't open the trace file.
    Do you know what is meaning with error 16?
    I'm not the System admin but I can ask him to check on OS level.

  • How to connect an non-hana-ewm with an Hana-ECC and vice versa

    Hello,
    for our migration project planning I am wondering how to connect EWM on SAP with ECC on Hana and vice versa.
    As it is, both systems are (productive) on non - hana with actual SAP-Release and have to be migrated.
    The background of my question: we may be not able do the "big bang" thing to migrate ERP ECC607 and EWM (with special Add-Ons) at one point to Hana (DMO) and therefore may need an interim solution. I checked ETL and LTS as "connectors" but they - from my point of view -  are one-way solutions from EWM to ECC/Hana -not bidirectional.I Found some questions concerning the same theme in the net but no solution at all till now..
    How about BODS ? (Didnt work with it yet)

    Great. So I have to either install OS X, or buy a new mcahine. Can OS X run on a G3 without grinding to a halt?
    By the way, I cannot get the iPod to even mount when connected via firewire. The USB/firewire PCMCIA card does not have drivers for OS 9. I thought that this support was built into OS 9. The USB port works (although the iPod will not mount when connected via USB either). Any ideas?

  • SOLMAN 7.1 Assigning Hana database Technical system to product system

    Hi All,
    I am trying to assign a HANA database technical system to Product system.
    I am trying to do it in conventional way (i.e in LMDB TCODE--> Selected Product system-->Assign Technical system--> ).
    But I am getting below error.
    No local proposals; search remotely in SAP SMP (time-consuming).
    So wanted to know whether there is any other way for assigning Prodcut system to HANA DB Technical system.

    You can either use a product system that already exists for the ABAP system (if the ABAP system was already connected to Solution Manager) or create a new one. After all you should use the same product system for ABAP and HANA.
