SAP CRM 5.0 installation

Hi,
Can anyone please advise whether I will able to install SAP CRM 5.0 in my laptop having configuration as 500GB as HD, 4GB as RAM.Intel i3 processor,HP pavilion?

The installation guides ARE step-by-step - you have a planning guide on how to set up your operating system (kernel parameters, filesystems etc.) and you have the installation guide itself where it guides you step-by-step through the installation steps.
Every installation, especially on Unix, is to some extend individual so just following screenshots will bump you out at the first error that will occur.
I'm not blaming, I'm just saying that following screenshots without understanding what's happening won't be that successfull.

  • SAP CRM 5.0 Installable CDs

    Hi All,
We are on a lookout for SAP CRM 5.0 installable CDs. At service place, in the link "Ordering SAP-Software", SAP CRM 5.0 is not available.
Would appreciate if anyone can tell us the way to get these CDs.

    Hello,
You are right Eyal, CRM5.0 is only available in ramp-up for the moment. It means that only customers which are taking part to a ramp-up program have access to CRM5.0 actually.
    Have a look to service.sap.com

  • Accessing SAP CRM 7.0 objects

    Hi All,
After doing lot of research on SAP CRM 7.0 documentation, I got to know that there are different ways to access data from the system:
    1) Using BAPIs
    2) Using RFCs
    3) Using SAP XI
    4) Using Web Services (Enterprise services?)
I am interested in going with the Web Services option.
I have read in the documentation that Enterprise Service Repository is part of SAP NetWeaver Platform.
We are planning to register for SAP RAC service to get access to SAP CRM 7.0.
If we have access to just SAP CRM 7.0, will I be able to access the web services.
Can someone please help me understand this.
    Thanks
    Naga
P.S I am very very new to SAP CRM. Please bear with my questions.

    Hi Isaac,
    Thanks for your reply.
I read the documentation[1] which says that there are 235 enterprise services built for 35 business objects.
That said, the wsdl will be already published for all those default web services I believe.
Can't I just consume the default web services and read the data from SAP CRM 7.0?
As SAP CRM is dependent on SAP NetWeaver, can I assume that I will have access to all the Out of the Box web services if I have SAP CRM 7.0 installation.
    Thanks
    Naga

  • SAP CRM - no confidence in UI by SAP?

After reading this blog and looking at the article attached to the blog.  I had an interesting question:
Can Rich Internet Applications finally be accepted as a credible application development platform for SAP?
Does SAP have any confidence in its own CRM software?  Right now SAP is touting how easy to use the new version of SAP CRM is, and yet this article implies they don't use their own product's user interface.
Now I know the eSOA mantra says this shouldn't matter, but I would say this is one of those cases where it doesn't.  If the vendor won't/can't use their own CRM software because the UI is too ugly/clumsy or other reason, why should I as a customer.
As a customer I don't want to purchase a CRM software and then have to purchase a better UI to go on top of the software.  I might as well spend the money on software that might have a better UI perceived by my sales folks(think siebel, salesforce.com, sugarcm, etc), and spend those dollars on integration instead.  It's a lot cheaper to do integration work, than completely rewrite the UI to meet my users needs.
I'm also wondering why SAP would even send this message by displaying this article on SDN? I'm sure if the guys at oracle saw this article, we would see a press release from that says something of the like:
"Even SAP acknowledges, that SAP CRM is too difficult to use".
I bring this up because we are selling use of SAP CRM 2007 in house right now, and it makes it harder for me to sell the solution to my business users, if there are conflicting messages on the market.
    Take care,
    Stephen

    > Wow, you almost have the "nightmare" scenario when it comes to maintenance.  I just have to ask what functional areas (high level) did you implement?  Was it the marketing module?
    I can tell you...
We were using Mobiles Sales with activities, campaigns, sales documents and master data and we switched that to CRM 2005 and Portal (+ adding BI reporting functionality with BI-CRM content). For the Java part there's enough said (by me) already, I won't start again with that (mess). The CRM looked pretty well at first sight but devil's in the detail.
    > The marketing module in CRM 40 was so unstable on SP08 that basically we ditched the application and wrote something custom in the SAP GUI instead.  Any t-code that had over 400 related notes(segment builder) is just a nightmare not to mention just plain bugs in the PCUI that we weren't willing to wait a month for fixes.
Well.. people have always be VERY helpful, especially the guys and girls in India were doing a very good job at fixing bugs - once the communication was done via email and not via phone...;) But you're right - it's taking sometimes too much time to get a fix and yet-another-note.
    > I still think the SAP GUI sometimes beats the web based interfaces, once you learn how to use it.  The problem was that everyone got obessed with zero-client installations and forgot about the benefits of "specialized" clients.  Now everyone is basically trying to make a web browser work like a desktop client, which puts you back full circle.
Everyone THINKS it's zero installation but in fact you have to configure proxy exceptions, add/install certificates, enable/disable Javascript things, add trusted sites, (re-)configure firewalls on Laptops, delete browser caches, install SVG viewer and other "plugins", install and maintain security fixes for the browser etc. etc. and this on a distributed environment where our sales reps are spread over the whole world in different time zones. So the "zero-installation" is nothing but marketing flowery because the maintenance you needed to put into Mobile Sales is now needed for the browser - nice antagonism
    > In would have been interesting to see how well SAP would have fared if they had made the mistake of making the original R/3 application 2-tier instead of a 3-tier client/server.
It's been like that @ R/2 times and I must tell you I loved the green screens (http://www.sapdesignguild.org/resources/images_hist/R2-0.GIF and http://www.sapdesignguild.org/resources/images_hist/SCREENO1.GIF)

  • SAP CRM 7.0 connected to Legacy system

    Dears -
we have the requirement to connect our SAP CRM system (7.0) - that is a brand-new installation NOT to ECC, but to a legacy system.
We have planned to implement custom interfaces to replicate the masterdatas. Doubt is: can you point out which are the Best Practices / Building Blocks in order to perform the configuration in SAP CRM without being it connected to ECC.
    Every reply is greatly appreciated.
    Teresa

    > Do you have a sort of best practifce with all the customizing steps need to be done by hand?
This depends on which scenarios you use and what you plan to do with the system. CRM is pretty complex and VERY big so there is no BP guide, especially not if there's no ERP ABAP backend. I'd start SPRO, use the standard IMG and start on top.

  • SAP CRM 7.0 Webclient - Product Identification (IBase or IObject)

    Dear SAP IC-Experts ,
I am new in the configuration of the SAP Interaction Center (SAP CRM 7.0) and have a process orientated question.
In my proyect the company is producing bathroom products which are installed in hotels, private homes, etc.. They sell their products via partner so they in most cases dont know where there products are installed until the end-user calls when they have a service problem. In the Interaction Center I have seen the Account and Product-identification Workcenter Page.
    1. My first question is do I have to use IBase or IObjects to save the proyects in the Database? If I understood correctly IObjects can only be used if I have a serial-number for example which are used for cars or laptops to be able to uniquely identifie a product. As Bathroom products does not have this this kind of identification number to identify a single object I have to use IBase right? Additionaly I the company sells for example 30 times a shower cabine to a hotel I can not use IObject too because there is installed 30 times the same product in different floors and hotel rooms. This leads me to the conclusion that we have to use IBase which leads my directly to the second question
    2. When using IObjects there is a Create-Button to create a new IOBject but this create button does not exists for a IBase in the View. When the end-user is calling me can I create in a very short time the installed base (IBase)? I hope I could make myself clear?
Basically I need to know if using IBase or IObjects for bathroom products and if using IBase how can I create it quickly as an IC Agent when the client is calling?
    Best Regards
    Oliver

    Hello Oliver,
Yes, you are correct. The IObject (individual object) is intended primarily for consumer-facing scenarios involving serialized registered products. For a B2B scenario where a company has a footprint of installed products (whether it be HVAC equipment, plumbing systems, faucets, etc.) it is probably preferrably to use the Installed Base object to model the installation.
As you noticed, there is no native possibility to directly create new Installed Base hierachies from inside the Interaction Center directly (though there is an option for IObjects). The rationale here is that while a contact center agent would often register a new consumer product, they probably would not usually create new Installed Base hierarchies; rather this is something that, like creation of service contracts for example, is typically done by a Service Professional using the ServicePro role. However, you can always add a link to your IC menu to launch the ServicePro screen for IBase maintenance/creation in order to allow the agent to create or maintain the IBase hierarchy. A little cumbersom of course, but definitely a possible workaround.

    John

  • SAP CRM V1.2007 Best Practice

    Hello,
we are preparing the installation of a new CRM 2007 system and we want to have a good demo system.
    We are considering too options;
    . SAP CRM IDES
    . SAP CRM Best Practice
knwoing that we have an ERP 6.0 IDES system we want to connect to.
The Best Practice seems to have a lot of preconfigured scenarios that will not be available in the IDES system (known as the "SAP all in one").
How can we start the automatic installation of the scenarios (with solution builder) connecting to the ERP IDES system?
Reading the BP Quick guide, it is mentioned that in order to have the full BP installation we need to have a ERP system with another Best Practice package.
Will the pre customized IDES data in ERP be recognized in CRM?
In other words, is the IDES master data, transactional data and organizational structure the same as the Best Practice package one?
Thanks a lot in advance for your help
    Benoit

Thanks a lot for your answer Padma Guda,
The difficult bit in this evaluation is that we don't know exactly the
difference between the IDES and the Best Practice. That is to say,
what is the advantage to have a CRM Best Practice connected to an ERP
IDES as opposed to a CRM IDES system connected to a ERP IDES system?
As I mentioned, we already have an ERP IDES installed as back end system.
I believe that if we decide to use the ERP IDES as the ERP back end, we will loose some of the advantage of having an ERP Best practice connected to an CRM best practice e.g. Sales area already mapped and known by the CRM system, ERP master data already available in CRM, transactional data already mapped, pricing data already mapped etc.
Is that righ? Or do we have to do an initial load of ERP in all cases?

  • SAP CRM 7.0 Java AS

    Dears,
i have install SAP CRM for Apab and CRM for Java...
My Problem when we try to login using SAP GUI on crm java the error message appeare as following :
    <servername>:SAPdp05 Not reached
    Connection Error 161
    connection refused;;
The service is running, and all parameter on sap gui is true,,
    Please Advice,,
    Thanx in advance

DO you want to insatll the Java Crm for the same host with the same SID if yes you should have used the option for ABAP+JAVA installation.
for th installation we always use sapinst for the installation Master CD.
JSPM is the tool for applying the JAVA patched as ve have SPAM/SAINT in the ABAP side.
When you use JSPM it can upgrade the patches to the final level. You dont to apply the patchesin sequence to reach the final level as in ABAP.
you van find JSPM in /usr/sap/SID/DV*/j2ee/JSPM and then run ./go in unix to run JSPM.
Please get back if you need more information.

  • How can we create Versions for Products in SAP CRM

    Hi All,
We want use Product Versions in our CRM IC Webclient. We want to be able to select a product and then have a list of versions to pick from. Can anyone tell me if they have configured Versions for Products in their SAP CRM system. If yes, then how did you go about it.
    Thanks,
    Ramesh Nallabelli

    Hi Arup and Shanthala,
Thanks for the prompt responses. Appreciate your help. We want to create Product versions like this: Product: Windows OS Version: 95, 98, XP, Vista, 7, etc.
When I try to create a configurable product, using the Configuration tab, to create or use a product model I see an error message: PME installation with errors The long text is: The environment variable PME_HOME that includes the PME application has to exist locally in order to start the PME from CRM.
This indicates the configuration of IPC in our CRM system. This is something that we have not undertaken so far.
When I use the Poduct Variants tab to create a product variant for a configurable product, I can't edit here. This view opens in a display only mode. After reading some more about this, It looks like variant configuration needs to be used in tandem with ERP variant configuration. There might also be a need to recreate this in the Java configuration engine. We are going to create these products in CRM only, so this might not work for us.
    Regards,
    Ramesh

  • Crystal Reports access to SAP/CRM 6.0 with Integration with SAP Solutions

    Hello,
we are running Crystal Reports 2008 with SAP CRM 6.0.
To boost productivity or Report writeing we need especially access to:
    - Function Modules
    - the CRM Business Objects Repository (Transaction SW01).
What kind of SAP/CRM  ( or SAP / ERP )  Objects can be accessed with the Integration for
    SAP Solutions ?
The BO Documentation  [BusinessObjects XI Integration for SAP Solutions User's Guide|http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir31SP2/en/xi31_sp2_bip_sap_user_en.pdf]  does not give a clue if this is possible.
However,  Ingo Hilgefort stated in his book that it is at least possible to access  ABAP Functions, SAP Querries and SAP InfoSets.

  • SAP EHP1 for SAP CRM 7.0 : RKT Workshop for Interaction Center

    Hi Everyone,
Please be advised that SAP is hosting a workshop in San Francisco, July 15 - 16:
SAP Enhancement Package 1 for SAP CRM 7.0 : Ramp-Up Knowledge Transfer Workshop for Interaction Center.
Click here for details or to apply:
    Best regards,
    John

    Hi,
First - the basic post installation steps are:
    1. sick t-code need to execute
    2. se06 --> Perform Post-Installation Actions
    3. RZ10 --> Utilities --> Import profiles --> Of active servers
    4. execute sgen T-code --> This will take some time
    5. setup STMS
    6. create client (If custom required)
    7. Take backup of the system
For the solution manager client you could use the default created '001' client.
Next you need to run the solman_setup template which 'sets up' the SolMan for usage.
    Follow config guide at: https://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700000308502009E.PDF
For installing the ECC system, only a install key(from SMSY) is to be generated from SolMan. But if you want to use the SolMan effectively, suggest you to run the entire solman_setup.

    Dear All,
We were having a 3 system (SAP CRM 5.0 SP8) landscape. CRM Dev(CRD), CRM Q (CRQ) & CRM P (CRP) on Oracle 10 and HP UX 11. We have the JDI 7 SP8 instance connected to the CRM dev systemand all the 3 systems were configured as the run time systems in the JDI.
Now we have added a new tier for the Intergation testing called CRM
IST viz CRI there by coming into 4 system landscape (CRD, CRQ, CRI,
CRP). The CRI server is a copy of the CRP box and has been just installed and given to us. We need to do all the post installation activities.

It would be highly appreciated if you can give us a proper documents & links. We need to give the system to the consultants and before that we need to carry out all the post refresh activities, please help us in this urgently.
