Sap Demo environment in a box?

Hello.
I'm looking for a very easy sap demo environment in a box (single server / vmware image). It's not to show a lot of sap backend related features, we only need to connect with sapgui / browser to show something.
So I'm looking for a
1. ECC 5 with some data to show /PO /SP /GR55 for example.
Not a lot of business stuff. Only to show one transaction with excel integration
2. Enterprise Portal.
Should be possible to import an iview and show some other EP default iviews. Don't need business data in the portal.
Is there a way to get something like a preconfigured Portal + ECC? Also a automated installer with a demo configuration would be great. Do you know a partner who can provide something like that (germany)

The sneak previews will be you best bet. It really doesn't take a genius to install either of them. First install the ABAP side, then install the java side. There are some weblogs which will walk your thru the entire process. And if any problems come up, most likely they have been seen before and solved right here on SDN. Just search the forums.

Hi Srikrithi,
SAP Testing is all about test business process/functionality & outcome using manual/automation testing. For this I find knowledge of some Buniess Process/Functional Module must...but as you are alerady an ABAPer so must be aware of some of them. & Being ABAPer you will be better at White Box Testing. Do not take it as switching to testing & come back to ABAP dev or vice-versa; its just a matter of work responsibilities & your role in the organization. But yes...if you go for automation testing then must have knowledge of QTP or LoadRunner. Search more for term SAP TAO as well.

ODI Demo Environment - Work Repository issue

I'm a newbie to ODI, and have downloaded the software and the demo environment (plus instructions). Setup seems to go fine, but when I get to the point where I should connect to the demo environment, I follow the instructions but am unable to type in WORKREP as the Working Repository - the field is greyed out, and I cannot proceed further.
I have started the demo environment using startdemo.bat, and everything else seems OK (or at least doesn't error) aside from this.
Am I correct in saying that the RCU does not need to be run, just to use the Demo Environment?
Please can anyone help? I would like to evaluate the product but have run up against this wall.

I had similar issue on Windows..
Solution,
1) I downloaded jrockit SDK.
2) Pointed JAVA_HOME to this installation
3) Extract the demo folder (i.e. under <ODI_HOME> as odidemo)
Start the agent.
Run ODI enter the details as described in http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/integrate.1111/e12641/start_odi.htm.
Specify the Oracle Data Integrator connection details as follows:
Login name: Getting Started - ETL Project
User: SUPERVISOR
Password: SUNOPSIS
Note that username and password are case sensitive.
Specify the Database Connection (Master Repository) details as follows:
User: sa
This is the database user ID/login of the schema (database, library) that contains the ODI master repository
Password: Leave this field empty.
Driver List: Select Hypersonic SQL Driver from the list.
This driver is required to connect to the DBMS supporting the master repository.
Driver Name: org.hsqldb.jdbcDriver [This is different when populated by ODI]
URL: jdbc:hsqldb:hsql://localhost
or
jdbc:hsqldb:hsql://<<hostip>>:<port>:<sid> (if you have db installed on different box)

SAP BW Environment - What documentation is needed to support it?

I am currently working on an existing SAP BW system, but there is no documentation at all for it. We need to create appropriate documentation to enable easier understanding of the environment going forward.
However, what type of detailed documentation would be needed to fully support an SAP BW environment.
I assume we'd need to create the following types of documents...
- Architecture Overview
- Blueprint / Technical Spec
- Query Spec
- Authorisations & Security Document
...but have I missed anything??

Regarding Invoice No 1003 in SAP Demo Database

In sap Demo Database SBODemo_US, for Invoice no 1003,
for an item A00006 Price is given as 786.60. Choose Goto Menu and further choose Gross Profit, it displays the base price and Sales Price(770.87). How can the price be different at two places?
If it is how it is calculated?

Authentication Query- SAP Authoring Environment connectivity to Portal KM

Hi,
We have to use SAP Authoring Environment tool to upload the LSO training content into Portal.
We installed, configured and connected to the Portal KM using AE successfully.
We noticed one thing after connecting to the Repository Explorer in AE, system prompts to enter the user id and password for ECC system. After supplying right ECC user details system directly showing the Portal KM Master Repository content without asking to enter the Portal user id and password.
Can anyone share how can we see the Portal KM Master Repository content without supplying the Portal user details?

No, it is not anonymous portal.
If you try to open the same portal url outside the AE, system prompts the user to enter user id and pwd.
But if it is inside AE, as I mentioned earlier after giving ECC user details and click on OK button system directly showing the Portal KM Master Repository without asking Portal user id and pwd.

SAP Demo Financial Accounting (case study)

Hi!
I would like to start with SAP Demo Financial Account.
I downloaded the BI CONT 7.03 from service marketplace and can see the appropriate Info Provider.
I also integrated the SAP ECC IDES 6.0 system into BI system via RSA1 --> Source Systems --> BI
--> ERB Client 200
My questions:
1) How to load the accounts payable and accounts receivable from this SAP ECC system for this example in order to execute queries for this data?
2) Can I change the data here? (e.g. characterictic, etc.)
3) Where can I find the further documenation for this issue?

Additional SAP-MI environment via client copy

Hi there. We need to set up an additional SAP-MI environment for UAT (User acceptance test). Can this be done by creating a new client (and using client copy
function) within the existing MI instance?
If so, what are the implications to J2EE engine? Could we use existing
Java stack and just create new JCo connections? Or would we need a new
Java stack? (Standalone or Add-in?).
Also, what are the implications to the back-end R/3 system (if any)?

SAP MI 2.5, SP18
Oracle 9.2.0.6
AIX 5.3

Hi Benjamin,
As per my understanding as of now MI is not available in SIT system.Once MI is avaliable in SIT system, we need to move all the development objects into SIT system from DEV system.
There is an option of transporting all the objects from one system to other(in the same release NWO4 or NWO4S)(If all the development objects like tables,syncbos,bapis etc are stored in a package in DEV system..that package can be transported to SIT system..i am not sure how far it is going to be feasible..but for sure this is a good option you can try...then all the development objects will be present in SIT system and then we can deploy the application and test it)
Other wise if this transport is not possible then we need to re-create all the tables(objects) etc in SIT system same as in DEV system.
We can connect to multiple backend to one MI client..this should be possible.

I'm looking for a SAP demo portal - the one with rilke e (mss) and jordan m (ESS) for illustrative purposes - need to illustrate the vision of an hr portal to my squad. can't access it via http://idesportals.wdf.sap.corp:1080/ - the port is not open at our company. is this system available somewhere else or any other demo portals out there?

hello, I am trying to activate SAP DEMO CONTENT..se activate all the objects but the Source System SAP_DEMO is not created. Is necessary create it before? as it is created?

I know Voodi. I managed to resolve the issue by doing the following:
1. Created an SAPDEMO system manually
2. Re installed the Demo content cube
3. Followed note: 370397 and created content for the cube 0D_DECU
4. Created infopackage manually and uploaded data (Not sure why the system did not create the IP while activating.

Forms Builder / SAP Demo News / Where is the Savepath specified?

i just want to check out how the forms Builder work and if i can use it for some little things in our Portal.. so i wanna try the SAP Demo News....
So i think i check how it works.. but i have only one question.. where in the Forms Builder in SAP Demo News is specified where the news are saved when i write one?
So the Standart Path is: \documents\News
So what is if i want to change the path to: \Documents\xyz
Where in the Form i have to specifie this?

You can pass the path as parameter (post/path=) to the url.
For example
http://server/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.xmlformedit?XMLFormID=new_form&post/path=/documents/UserMessages
Also change the configuration of km folder to your new folder. This will alow to edit the news directly from km folder.
Go to System administration -> System configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> Form Based Publishing -> forms availability.
Creat an id with the following properties - the folder path within which the form has to appear for e.g., /documents/News and under the Forms to Include - Mention the XML forms to be included.
