SAP for Sugar Industry

Hi
I am working as SAP PM in a renewed US Group of Companies. After SAP deployment in two group companies we are extending SAP to our group sugar units.
Expert opinion required,
Which one is best to map Sugar production from Sugar Cane? & Why.
1) PP-PI
2) Repetitive manufacturing
3) Process Industry
May be a reference Business Blueprint of SAP PP module for Sugar manufacturing will helpful for me to understand the things.
I will keep it to my own.
Thankful indeed.
James

Dear James,
Check these links and I hope many of our experts have suggested for PP-PI,check these once and then
decide.

  • Business Flow in SAP for courier Industry

    Hi,
anted how will the business activities flow in SAP for a courier industry configuration.
The complete scenarion from receiving a call from Customer in a call centre / directly by route agent to collection with status management and thereafter repacking for transfer to another HUB or distribution from the centre directly along with FI.
Request to please send me the complete process mapping in SAP.
    Rgds,
    Rajeev

    Dear Rajeev,
This courier concept is mapped in SAP through Service Notifications in Customer Service module.
The Service Notification  which is attended by the Call center has to be linked through the Action Boxes by configuring it whether or not to be notified to the concern Pick up / Delivery Agents by a pager or sms to their mobile and inform about this to the customer also simultaneously.
For this some ABAP requirements will be there.  Some of the Action boxes configuration need to set the workings via ABAP coding.
Again each notification status will be updated based on the actions taken for the process number.
The entire process scenario, you can get from the Customer Service Module.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks and regards.

  • BOM creation for a sugar industry -reg

    Hi,
in all otehr industries we fix the base quantity and then create BOM with its components and their quantities based on which planning for procurement and consumption of the child parts happen .
but in the sugar industry the BOM headers quantity depends on the incoming sugar cane quality .
if the sugar cane is of some quality you may get 1 ton out put , if it is of different quality you may get 0.8 ton
it keeps changing continuously as sugar cane feeding keep continues ....
in this type of cases how can be BOM created ?
we dont know the base quantity of the BOM header ?
any inputs and thoughts on this
    regards,
    Madhu Kiran.

    Hello,
SAP explodes BOMs top-down not bottom-up hence this is diffcult to accomodate.
Is there a way to know the likely output quantity in advance by classification information of an input batch? Then perhaps 'material quantity calculation' in PP-PI can help. If you are using that module that is.
    Cheers!

  • "Cleaning Validation Process Scenario" in SAP QM/PM for Pharma Industry

    Dear Gurus,
I have a client requirement in the Pharma Industry. The scenario needs to be mapped in SAP for which I need your help.
The scenario is that the company is making medicines (tablets/capsules). Whenever, there is a changeover of the product, there are certain regulatory requirements which the client needs to adhere to.
For example, a shutdown of machinery for 10-12 days may be planned during which the machines are cleaned with soap/cleaning agents. Now, during this cleaning process, the QA department would take samples of the soap water recovered after cleaning process. These samples would be inspected for residues of the previous product that was being run on the line.
If everything is ok, then the approval is given by QA to start the next product.
This process has to be mapped in SAP, maybe in QM or PM.
I thought over the following process. Please let me know your inputs to fine tune the below process -
    1. As the shutdown for changeover will be a planned one, we can create a Maintenance Plan in IP42.
    2. Schedule the Mantenance Plan by IP10.
    3. Release the maintenance plan in IP10.
    4. Preventive Maintenance order will be created. (Also assign an Inspection Type in config to this maintenance order so that inspection lot also is triggered. The doubt here is that the inspection lot would be triggered for all preventive maintenance orders which may not be required. How to control this?)
    5. Carry out Result Recording in QA32.
    6. Confirm Preventive Maintenance order in IW41.
    7. Carry out Usage Decision in QA32. The status of order will now become TECO.
    8. Order Settlement in KO88.
    9. Business Completion of Order in IW32
    Thanks for you time!
    Regards,
    Nitin

    Your ASIS Process
    1. Cleaning is done by maintenance before change over
    2. Inspection is done to ensure that cleaning is acceptable
    3. Records of inspection are to be maintained
    4. Information is to be sent to concern regarding  quality testing  and its status
    5. Change over performed
You can MAP this by Notifications also. Follow the steps
    1. Create a new notification type ( config)
    2. Ensure you have following mapped in the action box (config)
        a. Send a mail
        b. Create a inspection lot
        c. Create a QM order
        d. Close Notification
The process will be as follows
    1. Create a dummy material and activate insp type 08 in the QM set up.
    2. PM creates the notification (t-code QM01) (New notification & triggers a mail (Action box) which is delivered to QC as information regarding the start of process .
    3. QC on looking at the information creates the inspection lot through the notification (action box) the QTY specified in the notification is moved from unrestricted to Quality .
    3. Perform  RR & UD and post stock  to unrestricted
    4. Close the notification giving your remarks or set the notification for further processing if required .
    Note :
    1. The material is a dummy material
    2. The intial stock can be one qty which is posted to quality -
from unrestricted and then again to unrestricted.

    Hi,
For multiple samples we can use no of sample(SAmpling Procedure) to record more than one results and system will calculate the arithmetic mean of all results of all sample
For this we have to maintain control indicator of MIC . Single result radio button will enable us to record results based on the number of sample defined in sampling procedure
And if you have requirement like different target values at different level,
Then you can configure inpection point -
SPRO > Quality Management > Quality Planning > Inspection Planning > General > Define Identifier for Inspection Points
in this Field act - 2 and give description

  • SAP BP for forging industry

    Hi,
is there any SAP BP avilable for forging industry specific.
    kindly any body respond.

    Hi shiva,
thankyou for ur replay, i want to know is there available any BESTPRACTICE PACKAGE  all-in-one (ECC.6.0) FOR FORGING INDUSTRY

  • Sugar Industry.

    Hi Professionals,
Please go through the scenario and please help in setting the solution.
    Scenario:
The Sugar Industry contains one plant. Sugar and Ship Sugar are the two main products and spirit, liquor, power are by-products. The production of Sugar takeplace from Oct to May of the year. Other by-products are manufactured full year.
    Conflicts:
    1. I'm thinking for Repetitive Manufactruing (REM) because in the specified period of time with the rate of 12,000 Tonned Cane Crushed Per Day (TCPD) production takes place. But as I told about sugar depending on brightness and the crystal size graded into various grades and at the start the quantity to be produced i.e. Planned Quantity is not finalized. After production completion and seperation of sugar as per grades and their packing into different types of bags, the actual production quantity is confirmed grade wise.
    2. While producing Sugar the Bagasse get generated which is then used for Boiler Steam Generation which eventually used for Power Generation.
    3. Molasses is produced as by-product/co-product which then used for producing Spirit, Ethanol.
    4. From some quantity of Ethanol Liquor is produced.
By the same process with one main product three by-products/co-products are produced simultaneously. So, REM in SAP will provide solution OR PP PI will be the best option?
Please suggest me the solution utilizing your best of the experiences Industrial/SAP.
    Regards,
    Abu Arbab

    Hi ,
As per the Situation in the Sugar Industry u should Go with the PPPI , because sugar yield is depend on the sugercane quality & the net production will come to know after the production , if u will go with the PPPI u can impliment the Material quantity calculation scenario which will give you exact production rate .One more thing U can impliment the PI sheet which is very important in the process Industry which will provide the less documentation & keep record in the systeam. U can manage the Batch in the PPPI & resource & capacity planning is quite high in the PPPI.

  • What is the Best practice for ceramic industry?

    Dear All;
i would like to ask two questions:
1- which manufacturing category (process or discrete) fit ceramic industry?
2- what is the Best practice for ceramic industry?
please note from the below link
    [https://websmp103.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_FRAME=CONTAINER&_OBJECT=011000358700000409682008E ]
i recognized that ceramic industry is under category called building material which in turn under mill product and mining
but there is no best practices for building material or even mill product and only fabricated meta and mining best practices is available.
    thanks in advance

    Hi,
I understand that you refer to production of ceramic tiles. The solution for PP was process, with these setps: raw materials preparation (glazes and frits), dry pressing (I don't know extrusion process), glazing, firing (single fire), sorting and packing. In Spain, usually are All-in-one solutions (R/3 o ECC solutions). Perhaps the production of decors have fast firing and additional processes.
In my opinion, the curiosity is in batch determination in SD, that you must determine in sales order because builders want that the order will be homogeneus in tone and caliber, and he/she can split the order in diferents deliveries. You must think that batch is tone (diferents colours in firing and so on) and in caliber.
    I hope this helps you
    Regards,
    Eduardo

  • Batch Traceability for Sugar as raw material during the production process

    Dear Colleague ,
I need your support for a traceability issue in a customer on beverage sector
    See the case below:
Batch Traceability for Sugar as raw material during the production process
In AMSB the batch traceability in some production processes is very difficult, especially in case of sugar where tanks wherein more than one batches of the same material can be mixed. For example, in a single day almost 17-20 batches of the same material can be mixed and as the result is a composition of water and sugar the normal FIFO rule strategy cannot be applied during the component consumption.
The raw material (sugar) is received in tank S5 at different points of time, and its content is transferred to tank B1 for storage purposes as well as for mix the sugar with other material such as water.
At a specific moment the S5 tank contains only a single batch, while the tank B1 contains more than one batch. Tank B1 is used in order to supply the production line and the corresponding material consumption is triggered in backflush as soon as the production activity is declared (production confirmation). Along with the material consumption the batch determination takes place and a complex algorithm is applied: at a very high level, the single batch is consumed depending on its percentage inside the mix of composition and in case the this
percentage is under a threshold level the current batch should be full used in order to avoid that it will exist for ever.
Moreover, the good movement reversal (reversal of material consumption) and its correction lead to a complete new calculation of all the batches consumed after the original movement date/time. This means that the algorithm for batch determination should be reapplied for all the consumptions subsequent to the original movement.
On the other hand it’s not possible to identify the mix of batches at the exit point of silos B1 because the total consumption of the material in the tank will never happen. As long as the tank level decreases it will be filled up from the tank used for receiving of sugar (S5).
As requirement AMSB needs to post the material consumption starting from EWM, this means that EWM should be the master system in this case and the correspondingmovements have to be  transferred to ECC afterwards. This mainly because EWM  should guarantee the business continuity in case the ERP system is not available.
AMSB asked if the scenario depicted has been implemented in some customer, in EWM system or in any other SAP solution.

    Hi ,
At the time of consumption you can put ' * ' aestrix sign in the batch field.
You will get list of batches of that material.select ur batch and consume the quantity.
