SAP GUI - SAP Business client - Portal Comaprison

Hi ,
We would like to know what are the advantages and disadvantages of NW Business client over portal and normal SAP GUI in all the aspects such as development,performance .
what is the general/rule of thumb difference between development for SAP BC and Portal ?
How easy can developments be transferred from Portal to SAP GUI and vice versa ?
Are there any language specific implications for these objects ?
Are there any differences for development objects that are developed for SAP GUI and SAP BC ?
Are there any security related implications when using code that is created for SAP GUI on SAP BC and vice versa ?
Are there any additional security flags that need to be checked when switching from one to the other ?
While I cannot have more than 1 active SAP BC session (using the local installed version) can I run more than 1 with the web based SAP BC?

Using the HTML SAP GUI inside the Enterprise Portal?

Hello everyone
In our company we plan to set up the SAP Enterprise Portal (NetWeaver 7.0). The first application we want to provide inside the portal is the SAP GUI that connects to our SAP ERP 2005 system via single sign on. Therefor two different approaches exist:
1: Using the standard SAP GUI inside a portal iView. In this case every client pc needs the SAP GUI installed.
2: Using the HTML SAP GUI. In this case we have to set up the integrated ITS in our SAP ERP system.
Now I have some questions about the second approach. Is the functionality of the HTML GUI equal to the functionality of the standard GUI? If not, what are the restrictions? How high is the additional load on the network and SAP ERP system caused by the HTML GUI? Would you recommend this approach for a system with more than thousand SAP users?

Hi Marc,
At least if you consider using webgui, you should test the transactions properly as there are some issues for example with scandinavian characters and lines visible in lists of search helps.
Also you might want to consider the limitations of the screen resolutions and space which the portal framwork already takes from the gui. This of course is a topic for both HTML/SAP GUI's.

SAP GUI for Java in portal

I got a message that the instalation was succesfull. But after clicking the iview with the transaction the iview freezes and the transaction is not displyed. Any ideas where could be the problem?

SAP GUI for HTML on Portal

Hello All,
I have transaction iViews on the portal and I am using SAP GUI for HTML. Upon launching this iView, i get the logon page, even though I have SSO set up and working fine.
Now, the problem is, even after logging on with qualified credentials, the logon page disappears, 'Logon is starting' appears then the logon page reappears, as if nothing happened.
Any ideas as to why this is happening and how I can fix it?

Edgar: The ITS is working and the service launches successfully through the GUI.
I overcame the issue by using SAP GUI for Windows instead. I guess there is a problem when using the HTML GUI from a public IP. Something to do with security or a conflict in the 'hosts' file.

Can a SAP Gui iView raise a portal event?

Hi Folks,
Can anyone tell me if a SAP Gui iView can raise a Portal Event via the EPCF (or equivalent)? I seem to remember reading a blog on this way back but my sleep deprived mind could be deceiving me?

I don't think so. I think there was a hack a while ago about making it a target by wrapping webgui inside another frame, but not as an event raiser.

SAP GUI (SAP LOGON 620).Problem connecting to R/3

Hi I Installed SAP 4.7 successfully.I could see SAP R3 Management console started properly.After Installing SAP GUI,I tried to connect from SAP Logon.I get an error ,A box opens
Which has title 'Syntax Errors'
and fields in the box are,

Problem Sap Gui access Business Explorer

I have a machine is the same with Windows Vista Home Premium, sap logon 7.10 - patch 13(gui710_13-10002995.exe)

Access to the SAP system is perfect, but when I try to open the Bex query designer after informing username and password I get the error of communication rfc.

I did the following steps that SAP asked, but error continued.
I recommend following procedure for upgrade:
1. Uninstall the bi frontend
2. Delete the bw containing folders like C:Program FilesSAPBusiness
ExplorerBI and C:Program FilesSAPFrontEndBw
3. reboot the system.
4. Download and install following versions from service market place:
gui710_13-10002995.exe
BW 3.5 Addon
bw350gui710_6-10004473.exe
BI 7.0 Addon
bi710sp09_900-10004472.exe
Please, after this procedure, execute the frontend check tool as per
note 1229206 in order to verify the installation status.
Someone has been there or seen something?

don't use any Umlaute such as ö, ä, ü.
Add the SAP Services to C:system32driversetc file 'services'.
I think it is same like WinXP.

Webdynpro Vs SAP GUI

Our requirement is to make SAP transactions available over internet.We are considering below two options.
1) SAP GUI using VPN
2) Portal with java webdynpro
If we are not really interested in initutive UI , whay do we need to consider weebDypro as SAP GUI is the proven technology.
WebDynpro is considerably slower than SAP GUI, What is the need for using webDynpro over SAP GUI.
We have requirements for RF enabled trasactions.How simple to develop weebdypro applications for RF enabled devices.
Please explain How webdynpro is better than SAP GUI via VPN considering the above scenario ?

1)The SAP GUI for HTML is used in combination with the ITS technology. It runs inplace in the browser. The contents are generated by the Internet Transaction Server (ITS). The SAP GUI for HTML need not be installed separately on the client computers.
2)SAP GUI for JAVA: This GUI runs as Java applet inplace in the browser
You must provide users with the SAP GUI for Java on the Web server and edit the properties in service file Transaction_Configuration. To do so follow this link

How do I check if I need SAP GUI 7.10 Patch-Level 7?

Hi,
I have installed SAP GUI 7.10 client.
After restarting the PC, I tried to install the Patch-Level 7 but I got the message:
This SAP Front End Patch cannot be applied. Either this patch is already installed or the components to be patched are not yet installed at all.
My version for the SAPGUI installer is 2008.0.0.187
From Windows, I looked at the version for the installed file saplogon.exe, it is 7100.1.0.1027.
Does anyone know if my SAPGUI would require Patch-Level 7?

Transaction Iview - SAP GUI for HTML

Hi,
In SAP transaction iviews - SAP GUI for HTML in portal there is a possibility to go to menu,other transactions from the transaction field.Is there any way to remove the Menu button and hide the transaction field from transaction iview.

Creating CRM 7.0 Activity from ISU SAP GUI (CIC0)

Hello Guys!
I need to create CRM 7 Activity from ISU SAP GUI cic0 screen using actiion box. Can any one please help me out what would be the best way calling CRM 7 activity from ISU SAP GUI, with my understanding the CRM 7 would not support sap gui and have to use webclient technology.
My scenario: Creating activity in CRM 7.0 from ISU GUI.
Existing process is creating an activity in CRM 4 from ISU SAP GUI, now business would like to move from CRM 4 to CRM 7. I need to find out or give suggestions to business what would be the best approach or solution to create CRM 7.0 activity from ISU point of as business would not like to use CRM WebClient screen to create activities. I need help on how i can suggest the busines.
Please help me out as i am new to ISU and hope you have understood my requirements.

Kindly use the Transaction launcher service using the Customization :
SPRO > CRM > UI Framework > Technical Role Definition > Transaction Launcher > Configure Transaction Launcher
SPRO > CRM > Interaction Center WebClient > Basic Functions > Transaction Launcher > Configure Transaction Launcher (Wizard)
Kindly read help documentation next to it for details.

SAP GUI Logon does not have any anything to log on under systems

Hi everyone!
My friend installed SAP GUI 7.10 patched to 15 a few months back.
She was able to log in during that time since there were many servers/groups under the systems tab.
Right now, after her laptop has been recently cleared of a virus attack, she could no longer log on to any servers/groups because there were nothing there!!!
She is worried for a few questions:
FIRST: If she uninstall the program, will she lose her saved files that she worked on during those few months??
SECOND: Where can the saved files be located?? So that backup can be done when uninstalling SAP GUI 7.10
I really hope to get a reply soon!!! ( She needs to get her SAP up and running so she can continue on with her practicals since there is some kind of test related to SAP also... )

Does SAP GUI 7.10 include Web Dynpro client?

I want to try out Web Dynpro client, My SAP GUI version is 7.10, I can't see the web dynpro client component when install SAP GUI, and can't see the web dynpro application in logon ui too. Seem to Gui7.10 does not include web dynpro client. I search forum can see SAP GUI 6.40 include a beta version of web dynpro client, but the download of Web Dynpro Client was not work.
Does anyone kown if the Web Dynpro Client can be integrated in Sap Gui 7.10 ? Or it was still in beta version not be released official.
