Dear krishna,
even if your thread is closed:
If you get this error in firefox you just have to install java plugin.
Please find documentation [here|http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Using%20the%20Java%20plugin%20with%20Firefox].
Best regards,
Alex

  • Ince updating my firefox browser whenever i click on an internet link in an email it does not open on firefox although my mac switches to the firefox window as this is my default browser- what to do? Previously this has always worked without a hitch...

ince updating my firefox browser whenever i click on an internet link in an email it does not open on firefox athough my mac switches to the firefox window as i have this set to be my default browser- what should i do?

I have the same problem, and I also wondered if Google toolbar has anything to do with it. There GMAIL was set as the default mail application at first. I have removed that setting, but Firefox 4.0.1 continues to use GMAIL instead of Outlook which is my selection for mailto handling.

  • Any external hyperlink (to Firefox) does not open in Firefox. Firefox is default browser. Firefox opens but does not open external hyperlink.

If I click on a hyperlink in application that is external to Firefox, clicking on the link opens Firefox, goes to the home page and that is all. The hyperlinked web page does not open.
If Firefox is already open, a new browser window is opened, goes to the home page. The hyperlinked web page does not open.

Apparently this is an add-on problem. I disabled all of the add-ons and the problem is now fixed. I have not been able to find out which is the culprit yet but I will track it down. If and when I find the problem add-on, I will post the name(s) here.

  • Can only port forward port 80, other ports does not open.

I am trying to open three ports on my AE (7.6.1), but the only port that actually opens (if set) is port 80.
    - The Airport Extreme is the router and no additional router is in place
    - I have given the three cameras (that I want to access from Internet) static IP
    - I have trired to open three ports for those (45101, 45102, 45103)
None of above ports open, but if I change one port to 80, that port opens and one camera can work. This is really strange and any suggestions or help is much appreciated!

As you don't want to use the modem as router I would recommend to reconfigure your modem into "bridge" mode. In bridge mode it works like a simple modem. You then have to configure your WRT for your internet connection (usually PPPoE for DSL or DHCP for cable). With this setup, you don't have these chained routers and the WRT has a direct connection into the internet (i.e. the WRT shows your public IP address on the Status page).
Some chained router setups shows problems with drop outs, connection loss and similar. I recommend to use only one router in home setups.
On a sidenote: port forwarding is not related to firewall functions. The reason why you need port forwarding is because a router does "NAT" (Network Address Translation). You use private IP addresses inside your LAN (e.g. 192.168.1.*). Private IP addresses are not routed into the internet. Any internet router will immediately drop packets with a private IP addresses. Thus, your router does NAT to map your private IP address to your single public IP address. It's in the nature of this mapping that unsolicited incoming traffic from the internet is dropped unless you configure port forwarding. That's simply because the router would not know where to sent a packet on a port 1234 received on its public IP address unless you tell it. Thus disabling the firewall on a router won't change a thing.

  • Acrobat does not opens a PDF in the Browser at all times

    Required:
I need to ensure Acrobat opens a PDF in the Browser at all times, and not have Reader hijack the task.  All fixes for this I have found won’t work as they render Reader inoperable. i.e. uninstalling Reader or denying users to the Reader executable AcroRd32.exe
    Situation:
I have a problem with Adobe Reader and Acrobat Standard 8.2.5.  This is on a Terminal Server 2003 with 10 users.  They require both Acrobat and Reader be accessible due to specific 3rd party applications related to banking software.
    Problem:
They must open PDFs in a browser with Acrobat so they may fill the forms and save them.  Acrobat doesn’t consistently open the file; Reader hijacks the file when clicked to open and their ability to fill the forms is hindered.
    -    Open PDF in browser is checked in Acrobat
    -    Open PDF in browser is NOT checked in Reader
Sometimes when the Acrobat desktop icon is clicked, Reader opens instead.  Having Acrobat open in the background does help but is not consistent.
Also uninstalling Reader from the Server is unacceptable due to a 3rd party banking application for loans.  This application is hard coded to open AcroRd32.exe within the application for opening PDFs.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Ken

Try this, when I right clicked on the document to rotate the image a noticed a tool bar appeared at the bottom of the page with the save icon. It then disappeared, but by hovering at near the bottom of the document the tool bar appears and I can save the PDF.

  • When I click a link in email client (apple mail), it does not open in firefox. I have checked both Firefox and Safari and Firefox is the default browser.

When clicking a link in either apple mail or even from a word document, nothing happens.

Try to redo the default browser and make another browser like Safari the default and then let Firefox do it again.

    Greetings NoNameGiven,
If I understand the problem correctly (I’m not sure I do) you would prefer ‘iii’ to be read as “eye eye eye” rather than “three”? The alt text property is the only way that I know of to make this happen. Hope this helps.

  • Jsp page does not open with firefox! plz help..urgent!!

    hi,
    i have a wierd problem...
    i am hosting my website
    currant.hos.ufl.edu/mutail/rahul/testing2.jsp
if i open it in IE, it works fine...
but it doesnt work if i open it in mozilla. it just shows me the java code (maybe it takes the jsp code as html text)...
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
    <%@ page
         import = "java.io.*"

    <BODY>
more notably, the error is in the <%= page import line...
    the error in validator.w3c.org is:
Line 2, Column 0: character data is not allowed here .
    <%@ page
    &#9993;
You have used character data somewhere it is not permitted to appear. Mistakes that can cause this error include:
    * putting text directly in the body of the document without wrapping it in a container element (such as a <p>aragraph</p>), or
    * forgetting to quote an attribute value (where characters such as "%" and "/" are common, but cannot appear without surrounding quotes), or
    * using XHTML-style self-closing tags (such as <meta ... />) in HTML 4.01 or earlier. To fix, remove the extra slash ('/') character. For more information about the reasons for this, see Empty elements in SGML, HTML, XML, and XHTML.
    thanks in advance...
    rahul

one more thing...the code runs properly on localhost... i tested it on my pc n it was fine..both in firefox and IE...
i guess there is a specific syntax i need to follow (strict syntax) but i dunno what it is...:(

  • ATT email in updated form does not open on Firefox - how can I return to classic or make the new version compatible with Firefox?

Since I updated to the latest version of ATT email from the classic email version, I can't get Firefox to open the mail. And I can't find a link to go back to classic. I need to know if there is a change that I need to make in my Firefox settings to make it compatible or how to return to classic.

The change between Firefox 3.6.* and Firefox 4 is how location bar search works. In Firefox 3.6 it uses Google "Browse by name" search. With the browse by name search, it performs a Google search and if there is a clear match it will take you to the site, otherwise it shows the Google search result. With Firefox 4 it just performs a Google search if you type something which is not recognised as a URL.
To get the Firefox 3.6 behaviour on Firefox 4 you need to change a hidden preference.
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # Locate the preference '''keyword.URL''', double-click on it and change its value to the link shown below
    [http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q= http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q=]
If you prefer, you can also do this by installing the Browse by Name extension - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/browse-by-name

  • Generated html does not open in firefox/safari when embed in an iframe

    Hello,
I have been meddling with robohelp for a few weeks now. I can generate a html site from a Framemaker book fine. This is embed in an <iframe> to integrate it into our website. It works correctly on chrome. However on firefox/safari all I get is ' '. On viewing the source, it becomes apparent that this wierd bunch of characters appears before the <html>. I looked into the actual html generated and I see this tag <feff> prefixed before <html> in every file. Naturally, I went ahead and removed it and the page now loads correctly on firefox/safari. However, the bullets are all messed up. I read a post somewhere which said <feff> contains some information about css classes.
I use Technical Comm Suite-3.5(full version). The webhelp html is generated using the publish functionality from framemaker using a saved *.isf settings file.
So how do I fix this? Any suggestions are welcome.
    Thanks

The "weird bunch of characters" is known as the BOM (Byte Order Mark). The problem is on the server.
I saw the same thing when first using RoboHelp 8 and this is what I was advised by the company hosting my site.
"I would therefore conclude that the solution to this problem (on Linux systems running Apache) is to add the AddDefaultCharset utf-8 directive to either the Apache config or the site .htaccess file. The advantage of the latter is that it only affects individual sites. The default Apache character set is taken from the locale file on Linux and defaults to iso-8859-1. It is the conflict between the Apache header with iso-8859-1 and the page character set of utf-8 that obviously causes Firefox a problem."
In a forum post Chrissy_Tissy added
My machine is Windows, but this fix still worked  - some notes about making the fix visible:
    1. Do the fix itself (httpd.conf: AddDefaultCharset utf-8).
    2. Restart the box to apply the fix.
    3. Once the box is restarted, clear your cache in FireFox to make sure you don't continue to see the cached file.
Once all this is done you will see the output content as expected.
See www.grainge.org for RoboHelp and Authoring tips

When attempting to open my emails in hotmail, I get the same error..."Sorry, there's a problem with hotmail right now." No link works from there. Hotmail works fine in IE. any ideas?

even if your thread is closed:
If you get this error in firefox you just have to install java plugin.

  • Msg_server.exe not appearing in SAP management console

    Hi Experts,
First of all I want to tell you that I am new to BASIS activities. I am trying to learn installation and error handling.
I have installed R3 Enterprise 4.70x 2.00 SR1 on Win SQL Server and everything was successful. Now when I try to start SAP from console, msg_server.exe does not appear in the process list and dispatcher status is u201CRunning but message server unreachableu201D. Also in WP Tables, I can only see two DIA processes.
I can give you developer trace file dev_ms and dev_w0 for your reference if you need them.
    Thanks in advance,

When I select a hyperlink in Mac Mail the courser changes shape but will not open in Firefox, my default browser. I have used Mail with Firefox for a couple of years & it worked fine, until now. I can change the default to Safari & it works fine with Safari.
Also periodically Firefox hangs up & I have to force close it. That started to happen only recently too.

The operating system has to have information about what the default browser is in order to open a link in a browser.
