Hi ALL,
Our oracle database crash with errore code in trace : ORA:00490; i started database again and it working fine; but could not fine reason of down and what is this erroe all about
can some help me

Theres plenty of notes about ORA-00600... all depending on what is you Oracle version and what was running when the crash happen.
If it was during the night maybe the system was updating statistics then you can check SAP Note 365421 ORA-00600 [1113] when generating statistics

ORA-00490: PSP process terminated with error

We get this error and db goes down. Till warm start.
There is not much information on PSP0 process on the net.
Any ideas?

Not much on Metalink either. PSP is the Process SPawner. It is responsible for spawning and managing the Oracle process (Note: 331000.1).
Are there any errors or traces generated in the Alert log that occur before the instance is terminated by PSP?

My Oracle instance crashed after running for 2 days
with 5 reads and 2 updates in every 4 seconds. The
alert log are

The client access the data through stored procedures.
The database is running on Windows NT 4.0 service pack 6a.
The Oracle is v8.1.5.0.0
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

ORA-00472 PMON process terminated with error
Cause: The Process Monitor process terminated abnormally.
Action: Check the accompanying messages, and the background process trace file. Correct the problem mentioned in the messages. Then shut down and restart the instance. If the trace file mentions any other background process messages, check the trace file for the mentioned process until the root message is found.

A week before we stopped oracle using "Shutdown abort" command. But two days before we stopped using "shutdown immediate", it went fine and system up and run fine.
But today it stopped with this error message.

I changed the parameter parameter fast_start_parallel_rollback to HIGH from LOW, but no use
SQL> ALTER SYSTEM SET FAST_START_PARALLEL_ROLLBACK=HIGH SCOPE=BOTH;
System altered.
SQL> show parameter fast_start_parallel_rollback

Usually The dead transaction will be rolled back after raising the Priority from LOW to HIGH. But this time its not rolled back. still etting the same error.
Your answers will help to stop the oracle getting down in the LIVE production server. please share your experience guys.

sorry to revive this thread but i have one more issue with this. I created a database with DBCA insetead of CREATE DATABASE command and selected option for Fast Recovery Area space. This automatically set initialization parameter db_recovery_file_dest and db_recovery_file_dest_size, but did not create a OMF redo log group, but instead created three redo log groups with 1 member each.
select * from v$logfile returns:
1          ONLINE     /u01/app/oracle/oradata/testdb2/redo01.log     NO
2          ONLINE     /u01/app/oracle/oradata/testdb2/redo02.log     NO
3          ONLINE     /u01/app/oracle/oradata/testdb2/redo03.log     NO
Any idea why if creating a database with create database command and specifying db_recovery_file_dest creates an OMF redo log group and with DBCA it doesn't?

Hello Gurus,
One of our database had gone down, I tried to bring it up. When tried to do so it gave follwoing errot ORA-00205 error in identifying control file, check alert log ..... When I checked alter log entried I found a new error ORA-00470 LGWR process terminated with eror.
All my control files are intact where supposed to be, so are all redo log files. Please could any would help parity at my end.
In need for restoring my database at the earliest.

Could you please post the full alert.log contents when the database starts up ?
Are you really sure that all your control files are OK ?
ORA-00205 error in identifying controlfile, check alert log for more info
Cause: The system could not find a control file of the specified name and size.
Action: One of the following:
Check that the proper control file name is referenced in the CONTROL_FILES initialization parameter in the initialization parameter file and try again.
When using mirrored control files, that is, more than one control file is referenced in the initialization parameter file, remove the control file name listed in the message from the initialization parameter file and restart the instance. If the message does not recur, remove the problem control file from the initialization parameter file and create another copy of the control file with a new file name in the initialization parameter file.

I am having 10g R1 on LINUX.
To find cause of error.I read somewhere that I should check sid_dbwr_*.trc file.
But there is no file bdump related to DBWR.
According to me there must be atleast one trace file of DBWR in bdump.
Can you tell me why there is no trace file of DBWR in bdump and how can I ensure that i find trace files of dbwr in bdump.

sorry, it is me agin:
I forgot:
it must a trace file produced by PMON because it was PMON who killed the instance.
These background processes function as watchdogs for each other. If one finds that one of the others is missing it will kill the instance.

Standard Data Collection Failing with Error ORA-04054: database link does not exist.

Hi Gurus,
When I am running Standard Data Collection in ASCP(APS) instance R12.1.3, its failing with error : ORA-04054: database link does not exist.
There is no such Database link exits which is showing in above error.
Also the database link name in the above error is not profile values in the database.
I think, concurrent might be fetching this database link name from some tables related to plan.
I am not having much knowledge about how this ASCP/APS works.
Need your help to resolve this issue.

Oracle Database 11g Installation Issue: ORA-12560:TNS: protocol adapter error.

Hello. Initially, my Windows XP host name is "localhost" and IP address 127.0.0.1.
I installed Oracle Database 11g with Windows XP successfully and all Database clients work with Database instance correctly.
For some reasons, I uninstalled the entire Database Server and delete the entire installation directory /oracle.
I configured Windows XP IP address into 192.168.196.101 in order to ping other machines.
For my need, I installed Oracle Database 11g with Windows XP again. On step 7 of 8: Oracle Database Configuration Assistant, I got this error:
ORA-12560:TNS: protocol adapter error.
I click "Password Management" button, there are no rows in this Windows (no username, no lock accounts).
I check listener as below:
C:\>lsnrctl
LSNRCTL>start
Its output: listener name LISTENER has already been started.
LSNRCTL>status
Its output: ......Service DB1 has 1 instance. Instance DB1 status ready. The command completed successfully.
I check \Oracle\cfgtoollogs\dbca\DB1\trace file, the entry is :
listen[0]=LISTENER address=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=localhost)(port=1522))
I also check \oracle\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\NETWORK\ADMIN\SAMPLE\tnsnames.ora file and listener.ora file, the entries are the same as below
HOST=localhost port=1522
I think HOST=localhost and port=1522 is the cause of the error ORA-12560 because Windows XP has been configured into HOST=192.168.196.101.
But I don't understand how to solve this issue.
Can any folk tell me how to solve this issue ? need to cancel the installation on step 7 of 8 and install it again ?

Hello. Oracle Database 11g Installation Wizard is on step 7 of 8. I don't cancel the Wizard. I am not sure whether there is effect or not. listener.ora is not removed. I have been waiting for a while after stop listener. I run the 3 commands again and copy the result as below:

ORA-00488: RBAL process terminated with error causing ASM instance to crash

Hi Freinds,
I am manging a three node ASM cluster on 10g(10.2.0.2).Yesterday I observed one of the ASM instance got crashed .On reviewing the Alert log of crashed ASM instance I found
"*ORA-00488: RBAL process terminated with error*"
and subsequently
"*PMON: terminating instance due to error 488*".
I could restart the crashed instance without an issues but I want to know what kind of event could lead to such scenario.
I searched net and metalink but didn't found any helpful information.
Did any of you faced similar issues and do you have understanding why and when it happens.

Hi,
I got this error in alert log.But the clients didn't complain they had a downtime.But in alert log I see the following.Why the db got restarted and why the clients could not notice it.Can somebody please reply why this has happened.
