SAP PI in a cloud
Hi all,
I am wondering for quite some time now, if it's possible to have SAP PI in a cloud. When looking at cloud computing the biggest issue is security. One of the main things I could not solve in theory is: Segregated data and Own Identity.
When we would run SAP PI in a cloud and a customer wants to look at his own messages then I think this is not possible, because all messages are going over the integration server and basicly there is one integration server per SAP instance. So to my opion the only way to solve this is, is to put an extra layer on top of SAP PI (custom made) and when the user logs in, it will only see his own messages.
Futher more, I don't see the need of customers having to see mappings and/or routing. Because when running SAP PI in a cloud customers wants to move messages from A to B and how it works, basicly not interested for them. So to request for a new mapping or even to set up new parties must be done by the owner of the SAP PI system.
Another point of attention are the adapters when a message gets stuck we need to prevent that other clients which are using the same adapter are not bothered with that and their messages still needs to be processed. Haven't found a good solution for preventing this.
Still remains the question is it possible within standard SAP PI to give each customer it's own identity and segregate the data?
I am looking forward to all your comments and idea's about this subject.
I think youu2019re addressing two issues here.
First: the issue of data segregation and own identity. There are a lot of hosting parties who will host your SAP systems, including SAP PI. Customers or other parties can build their own solutions on these systems. Therefore I think this issue is not new, and not specifically related to a cloud solution. The solution hosting parties offer is fairly simple: Every customer has itu2019s own instance of SAP PI.
Second: The issue of putting PI in the Cloud. What I read from your thread is that youu2019re thinking of putting one instance of PI in the cloud and host specific integration solutions to different customers from this one instance. The way you put it, it really sounds like just a hosting solution. The big advantages of the Cloud are transparency, flexibility and scalability. In my opinion thereu2019s not much to win in just putting PI in a Cloud, I think you should offer complete solutions to customers. While offering solutions itu2019s not important anymore for the customer to see the PI system behind the solution (transparency), solutions can adapt to changing specs or new releases without any effort of the customer, and extra capacity can be added when necessary (scalability).
So my advise: Think about whatu2019s there to win when putting PI in the Cloud. Donu2019t treat it as just another way of hosting a PI system, think bigger, think in terms of offering Cloud solutions where somewhere in this solution PI can have a role.
While designing cloud solutions you should take things like reporting, monitoring etc. into consideration, and while doing that you might end up with a completely other approach than you should have when defining u201Ctraditionalu201D solutions in SAP PI.

Trial SAP PO instance on Cloud
Is this offering still valid? Try SAP NetWeaver Process Orchestration in Public Cloud!
I do not see the SAP PO in the list of cloud offerings any longer:
https://cal.sap.com/
But as pointed out by Abhinag I do see SAP BPM and Operational Process Intelligence on SAP HANA Trial
Please advice.hi Yusuke,
regarding your odbc issue, you can connect to hcp via odbc in the developer edition as well.
first tunnel into hcp using the command line tool. ensure that your proxy settings are correct.
then copy your DEV_ user name & password to enter into the odbc administrator.

PI Integration between SAP ERP system and Cloud for Customer
Hi,
We have set up integration between Cloud for Customer tenant and our SAP ERP system via PI.
For performing initial load, when we try to activate change pointers for Message types in the SALE transaction, we don't find the MATMAS_CFS and DEBMAS_CFS in the ERP system(IDES ECC 6.0 EhP6).
CODERINT 600(SP1 &2) are installed and BC set COD_BYD_ERP_INT is activated in the system.
Could anyone let us know what are we missing here, so that we can get the message types.
Also we tried using Message type MATMAS for sending a message from ERP to Cloud for Customer. In PI message monitoring, the status shows as 'Processed successfully', however we do not find the message in Business Communication Monitoring in the Cloud system. neither do we see the Business Object created for that Material master.
Please let me know how to debug such a scenario.

SAP JAM integration with Cloud for Customer
I'm in the middle of the setup of the SAP JAM to C4C integration and using the guide here https://websmp109.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/012002523100002202222015E/C4C_JAM_WP_1502.pdf.
In section 2.4.1.1, it says "Contact your SuccessFactor, SAP Jam customer support or administrator to get the SuccessFactors Secured
Token Service certificate for your SAPJam company."
Since it is the first time I deal with SuccessFactors, I have no idea who to contact to get this "signing certificate". Do I need to contact the SF Cloud support team or is that something I can get on my own from our SuccessFactors instance?
CheersHi Thierry,
in general the guide refers to opening a ticket in the SuccessFactors support portal to request the ticket. As this is your first implementation you probably don't have a registered user in here.
Question:
Do you have someone else on the project/at the customer to help with the basic implementation of the SuccessFactors Platform? If yes, please ask this person to open a ticket with SuccessFactors support.
If not, then you can also open the ticket directly in C4C and it should be internally routed to the appropriate support contact.
Please note: In addition you will also need to do some basic configuration of the SuccessFactors Platform and SAP Jam. More information about initial steps to access and setup
the SuccessFactors Platform for SAP Jam can be found in the document „Setting up SAP Jam for Integration with other SAP Solutions” included in the package “SAP Best Practice for SAP Cloud for Customer Integration” available at http://service.sap.com/rds-cfc-erp
If you are interested in more information, please check out the respective training offerings for SuccessFactors Platform and SAP Jam available as "Academy Courses".
Hope this helps,

SAP Jam Integration with Cloud For Customer error
Hello Experts,
We are integrating SAP Jam with Cloud for Customer tenant. We have followed the instructions that are mentioned in 1311 guide for SAP Jam integration.
But right now we are getting an error on SAP FEED work center and Account View.
Error that we are getting is as follows:
You are not authorized to access /c/C0000209652T.com/widget/v1/feed?wid=1&auth=single_use_token&skin=gr&faces=true&type=follows&num_items=30&avatar=true&live_update=true&mobile=false&post_mode=inline&reply_mode=inline&single_use_token=&locale=en
Kindly help us understand the mistake or step that we might have skipped.
Thanks & Regards,
Chandan BankarMy example in the document deals with User ID as key_identifier.
ie., we need a unique key which is common to both servers so that we can identify accounts. This is done through assertion attribute exchange.
For eg, if I have an account with userID vatsav in C4C, then I must have an account with same userID in JAM (or vice versa) provided I set UserID for "Account Name Origin" in Step 10.
Doing this way, I am telling JAM that I am using UserID as an assertion attribute which identifies both my accounts in C4c and JAM without any problem. When you login into C4C using vatsav as UserID, it automatically searches feeds for same userID in JAM and displays them in Mashup.
It's a big concept actually. Implementation's already done by SAP.
Hope, I am clear. -
Deploying SAP Work Manager in Cloud
Just wondering if we can deploy the SAP Work Manager5.3 / 6.0 in AWS (Cloud).
From a logical point of view, I think its definitely possible.
Anybody tried that option?
Would love to hear more.
Thanks,
AbhishekHi,
I haven't noticed latency problems. If the VPN connection to the ERP system falls over, you will have a bunch of errors, but Agentry recovers well once the connection is re-established (a benefit of storing all of the state on the ERP system). We've done quite a bit of development this way without very many problems.
Please keep in mind that I am only talking about development systems and I'm not focused on measuring performance. If you were really pushing a lot of data in production, you would need to be very careful about the properties of the network. You are definitely asking the right questions!
Best regards,

Enterprises are increasingly turning to cloud to drive agility and closely align IT resources to business needs. New or short-term projects and unexpected spikes in demand can be satisfied quickly and elastically with cloud resources, spurring more creativity and productivity while reducing the waste associated with over- or under-provisioning.
Figure 1) Cloud lets you closely align resources to demand.
Source: NetApp, 2015
While the benefits are attractive for many workloads, customer input suggests that even more can be achieved by moving beyond cloud silos and better managing data across cloud and on-premises infrastructure, with the ability to move data between clouds as needs and prices change. Hybrid cloud models are emerging where data can flow fluidly to the right location at the right time to optimize business outcomes while providing enhanced control and stewardship.
These models fall into two general categories based on data location. In the first, data moves as needed between on-premises data centers and the cloud. In the second, data is located strategically near, but not in, the cloud.
Let's look at what some customers are doing with hybrid cloud in the real world, their goals, and the outcomes.
Data in the Cloud
At NetApp, we see a variety of hybrid cloud deployments sharing data between on-premises data centers and the cloud, providing greater control and flexibility. These deployments utilize both cloud service providers (CSPs) and hyperscale public clouds such as Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Use Case 1: Partners with Verizon for Software as a Service Colocation and integrated Disaster Recovery in the Cloud
For financial services company BlackLine, availability, security, and compliance with financial standards is paramount. But with the company growing at 50% per year, and periodic throughput and capacity bursts of up to 20 times baseline, the company knew it couldn't sustain its business model with on-premises IT alone.
Stringent requirements often lead to innovation. BlackLine deployed its private cloud infrastructure at a Verizon colocation facility. The Verizon location gives them a data center that is purpose-built for security and compliance. It enables the company to retain full control over sensitive data while delivering the network speed and reliability it needs. The colocation facility gives Blackline access to Verizon cloud services with maximum bandwidth and minimum latency. The company currently uses Verizon Cloud for disaster recovery and backup. Verizon cloud services are built on NetApp® technology, so they work seamlessly with BlackLine's existing NetApp storage.
To learn more about BlackLine's hybrid cloud deployment, read the executive summary and technical case study, or watch this customer video.
Use Case 2: Private, Nonprofit University Eliminates Tape with Cloud Integrated Storage
A private university was just beginning its cloud initiative and wanted to eliminate tape—and offsite tape storage. The university had been using Data Domain as a backup target in its environment, but capacity and expense had become a significant issue, and it didn't provide a backup-to-cloud option.
The director of Backup turned to a NetApp SteelStore cloud-integrated storage appliance to address the university's needs. A proof of concept showed that SteelStore™ was perfect. The on-site appliance has built-in disk capacity to store the most recent backups so that the majority of restores still happen locally. Data is also replicated to AWS, providing cheap and deep storage for long-term retention. SteelStore features deduplication, compression, and encryption, so it efficiently uses both storage capacity (both in the appliance and in the cloud) and network bandwidth. Encryption keys are managed on-premises, ensuring that data in the cloud is secure.
The university is already adding a second SteelStore appliance to support another location, and—recognizing which way the wind is blowing—the director of Backup has become the director of Backup and Cloud.
Use Case 3: Consumer Finance Company Chooses Cloud ONTAP to Move Data Back On-Premises
A leading provider of online payment services needed a way to move data generated by customer applications running in AWS to its on-premises data warehouse. NetApp Cloud ONTAP® running in AWS proved to be the least expensive way to accomplish this.
Cloud ONTAP provides the full suite of NetApp enterprise data management tools for use with Amazon Elastic Block Storage, including storage efficiency, replication, and integrated data protection. Cloud ONTAP makes it simple to efficiently replicate the data from AWS to NetApp FAS storage in the company's own data centers. The company can now use existing extract, transform and load (ETL) tools for its data warehouse and run analytics on data generated in AWS.
Regular replication not only facilitates analytics, it also ensures that a copy of important data is stored on-premises, protecting data from possible cloud outages. Read the success story to learn more.
Data Near the Cloud
For many organizations, deploying data near the hyperscale public cloud is a great choice because they can retain physical control of their data while taking advantage of elastic cloud compute resources on an as-needed basis. This hybrid cloud architecture can deliver better IOPS performance than native public cloud storage services, enterprise-class data management, and flexible access to multiple public cloud providers without moving data. Read the recent white paper from the Enterprise Strategy Group, “NetApp Multi-cloud Private Storage: Take Charge of Your Cloud Data,” to learn more about this approach.
Use Case 1: Municipality Opts for Hybrid Cloud with NetApp Private Storage for AWS
The IT budgets of many local governments are stretched tight, making it difficult to keep up with the growing expectations of citizens. One small municipality found itself in this exact situation, with aging infrastructure and a data center that not only was nearing capacity, but was also located in a flood plain.
Rather than continue to invest in its own data center infrastructure, the municipality chose a hybrid cloud using NetApp Private Storage (NPS) for AWS. Because NPS stores personal, identifiable information and data that's subject to strict privacy laws, the municipality needed to retain control of its data. NPS does just that, while opening the door to better citizen services, improving availability and data protection, and saving $250,000 in taxpayer dollars. Read the success story to find out more.
Use Case 2: IT Consulting Firm Expands Business Model with NetApp Private Storage for Azure
A Japanese IT consulting firm specializing in SAP recognized the hybrid cloud as a way to expand its service offerings and grow revenue. By choosing NetApp Private Storage for Microsoft Azure, the firm can now offer a cloud service with greater flexibility and control over data versus services that store data in the cloud.
The new service is being rolled out first to support the development work of the firm's internal systems integration engineering teams, and will later provide SAP development and testing, and disaster recovery services for mid-market customers in financial services, retail, and pharmaceutical industries.
Use Case 3: Financial Services Leader Partners with NetApp for Major Cloud Initiative
In the heavily regulated financial services industry, the journey to cloud must be orchestrated to address security, data privacy, and compliance. A leading Australian company recognized that cloud would enable new business opportunities and convert capital expenditures to monthly operating costs. However, with nine million customers, the company must know exactly where its data is stored. Using native cloud storage is not an option for certain data, and regulations require that the company maintain a tertiary copy of data and retain the ability to restore data under any circumstances. The company also needed to vacate one of its disaster-recovery data centers by the end of 2014.
To address these requirements, the company opted for NetApp Private Storage for Cloud. The firm placed NetApp storage systems in two separate locations: an Equinix cloud access facility and a Global Switch colocation facility both located in Sydney. This satisfies the requirement for three copies of critical data and allows them to take advantage of AWS EC2 compute instances as needed, with the option to use Microsoft Azure or IBM SoftLayer as an alternative to AWS without migrating data. For performance, the company extended its corporate network to the two facilities.
The firm vacated the data center on schedule, a multimillion-dollar cost avoidance. Cloud services are being rolled out in three phases. In the first phase, NPS will provide disaster recovery for the company's 12,000 virtual desktops. In phase two, NPS will provide disaster recover for enterprise-wide applications. In the final phase, the company will move all enterprise applications to NPS and AWS. NPS gives the company a proven methodology for moving production workloads to the cloud, enabling it to offer new services faster. Because the on-premises storage is the same as the cloud storage, making application architecture changes will also be faster and easier than it would be with other options. Read the success story to learn more.
NetApp on NetApp: nCloud
When NetApp IT needed to provide cloud services to its internal customers, the team naturally turned to NetApp hybrid cloud solutions, with a Data Fabric joining the pieces. The result is nCloud, a self-service portal that gives NetApp employees fast access to hybrid cloud resources. nCloud is architected using NetApp Private Storage for AWS, FlexPod®, clustered Data ONTAP and other NetApp technologies. NetApp IT has documented details of its efforts to help other companies on the path to hybrid cloud. Check out the following links to lean more:

I was looking for some real world "Best Practices" of deploying J2EEapplications
into a Production Weblogic Environment.
We are new at deploying applications to J2EE application servers and arecurrently
debating 2 methods.
1) Store all configuration (application as well as Domain configuration)in properties
files and Use Ant to rebuild the domain everytime the application isdeployed.
I am just a WLS engineer, not a customer, so my opinions have in some
regards little relative weight. However I think you'll get more mileage out
of the fact that once you have created your config.xml, checking it into src
control, versioning it. I would imagine that application changes are more
frequent than server/domain configuration so it seems a little heavy weight
to regenerate the entire configuration everytime an application is
deployed/redeployed. Either way you should check out the wlconfig ant task.
Cheers
mbg
2) Have a production domain built one time, configured as required andalways
up and available, then use Ant to deploy only the J2EE application intothe existing,
running production domain.
I would be interested in hearing how people are doing this in theirproduction
environments and any pros and cons of one way over the other.
Thanks.

Duet Enterprise for cloud.
Hi All,
I want to know your views on the possibility of using Duet Enterprise for cloud based scenarios and specific comments on the following scenarios:
1. All systems viz. SharePoint, SCL and SAP backend are on cloud.
2. SharPoint and SCL are on cloud and the SAP backend in premise.
3. SharePoint is in cloud and SCL and SAP backend are on premise.
Cloud over hear means a public cloud. Please let me know what could be the complexities or road block sin each of these scenarios in your opinion.
Hoping for some constructive discussion on this topic, since these scenarios are catching a lot of eyes these says.
Regards,
Avishek.Hi Avishek,
Update:
The november update of SharePoint Online (SPO) includes the earlier announced BCS support; see [Whatu2019s New in SharePoint Online: November 2011 Update|http://sharepoint.microsoft.com/blog/Pages/BlogPost.aspx?pID=1002&prod=SP&type=BL].
Via this it is now possible to connect to external data in SharePoint Online context; through WCF endpoints to the external repositories.
However, utilization of Duet Enterprise is not (yet) possible; due:
1) Duet Enterprise is an Add-On to both SharePoint and SAP installations; and this Add-On is not included within SharePoint Online.
2) Moreover; via Duet Enterprise you have a bi-directional connectivity between your SharePoint and your SAP landscape; it is required that both parties know how to 'reach' to another. This is something that I do not see forthcoming in any shared (multi-tenancy) cloud / SaaS proposition. It effectively requires to have a organization-dedicated Duet Enterprise configuration; which should be possible in the cloud, but then boils down to a multi-instance installation in which you outsource the hosting of YOUR SharePoint environment to a 'hosting organization'.
Note that SAP and Microsoft have included in the [Duet Enterprise Planned Roadmap|http://www.google.nl/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=cloud%20model%20duet%20enterprise&source=web&cd=2&ved=0CEkQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.microsoft-sapphire.com%2Fresources%2FDuet%2520Enterprise%2520FP1.pptx&ei=45_pTun3F8GdOrr_mKAI&usg=AFQjCNH2ZjQQIxOSkBIlexBVQ2F1Fn1yVw] the following:
"Plan to support additional Mobile and Cloud scenarios" for a Next Version (following FP1)
As any roadmap, the value of this statement for now is limited; no guarantees given that it will actually be achieved.

How to use Variable in SAP HANA Information Modeller?
Hello Folks,
I have created a variable in Information modeller of SAP HANA Studio on top of an Analytical view (Regional Sales). This variable is SingleValue (Multiple Value Selections). This variable should prompt me the name of Country/Regions but somehow this is not working when I am using data preview and Analysis tab of data preview.
Could you please enlight me where I am going wrong? or Let me know if is there any other forum for this.
P.S : I am using SAP HANA studio on Cloud.
Regards
Muffazzal FaniHi,
After you created that variable as mentioned above, did you apply this variable on your LAND1 attribute.
How: Open Analytic View --> on right-side you see the attributes, measures etc. >right click on 'LAND1' and select>
'Apply Filter'--> In the drop-down select your created variable and activate.
I assume the above should resolve your issue. Please let me know if it helps.
Revision: I mean the HANA version you are using.

Hi all,
had to set up short timed a trial instance of SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP 7.4 on SAP MaxDB in Amazon Cloud
Installtion was pretty straightforward but now if have the problem of accessing the frontend via RDP.
Connecting via ssh works fine but when it comes to rdp it just says something like "rdp not activated or computer not reachable or down". Ping is also not working.
The instance is created as public.
Tried to reach it from my corporate network (ports opened), from home, from mobile broadband. Same result, ssh working, rdp not.
Any ideas?
thanks
FerdinandHi Ferdinand,
not every appliance in CAL comes with an Windows system that has the UI tools preinstalled. The system you are currently using comes with a Linux server only on which the NetWeaver ABAP and the MaxDB run. Here are a few hints which help to understand if RDP is available:
1) take a look at the default "Access Point" configuration. If Port 3389 (RDP) is not opened by default, then there is probably no RDP available
2) take a look at the number of virtual machines (instances) the solution details. If there is only one VM listed, it is the one with the server components (very likely not Windows).
3) Check if the connect button on the "INSTANCES" screen lists RDP (the connect button becomes visible after the solution has been started). If there is no option for RDP, then it is not available.
In a nutshell, for this particular solutions there is no Windows RDP available. Nevertheless, the user guides explains how to fetch and install SAPGUI to your client machine so that you are able to connect to the system.
Thanks and Regards,
Hannes

Hi,
I am an SAP CRM Technical consultant. What would be the best suited role for me in SAP HANA or cloud?
Thanks & Regards
SunilHi Sunil,
As you already have programming experience, you can choose anything because all three are going dominate the world in another 5 years.
But give a preference to SAP HANA because it needs more SAP technical side but cloud combines other infrastructures and softwares also. To be on SAP side fully, just get into SAP HANA.

Can SAP learning hub be helpful to me in getting SAP certification in India?
Hello Friends,
I came to know about SAP Learning and found a very flexible for learning. As a working professional I found it very suitable for me to learn SAP at a time I want. But I have few queries which I would like to confirm.
1) Is SAP learning Hub Partner edition available in India?
I have visited SAP training and Certification shop. when I select SAP Learning Hub partner edition it does not shows me any details for India. So is it possible to subscribe SAP Learning Hub editions from SAP India website.I assume that anybody can subscribe to all SAP Learning hub editions and not just SAP partners or Customers or affiliates. If i am wrong please guide me.
2) Can SAP learning hub be helpful to me in getting SAP certification?
Since SAP Learning Hub is cloud-based training solution i found it suitable for me as i can learn it at anytime i want and also pursue my job along with it. i tried to search on SCN and found that for every country SAP has different policies for Training and Certification so I tried to find out using SAP Certification India website that you need to provide a copy of attendance certificate in order to get Associate Certificate.I inquired on helpline whether hours of training taken on SAP learning hub can be considered in training but they are silent on this query as they are not sure whether this can be considered or not. if it is considered how I need to provide the details of hours of training taken to them for certification. So I need to confirm that if i subscribe for SAP Learning Hub will the training taken on SAP learning hub be helpful for me in getting certification and attending Certification Exams.
I would be very grateful if anybody can guide me on this issue.
Regards,
PratikHi Pratik,
to your first point I cannot say anything about it.
to your second point I can
Learning Hub can give you a hand by getting the certification, but it is not so, that you work through the content there and tata... got your certification. You need to work with the content which is explained there and get in touch with colleagues to get your question answered.
In my opinion it is a great initiative to get in touch with new things and to be a platform by side to reach the goals. But again, the learning hub itself won't give you a certification at all and if you pass it you might just have a paper saying something....
Hope I could give you a small clue and good luck with your preferred certification.
Regards
Florian
