SAP systems and Daylight savings for 2007

Hi,
We are discussing about the Daylight Saving time changes in USA for 2007 and its effect on SAP Systems.
<i>"Beginning in 2007, most of the U.S. will begin Daylight Saving Time at 2:00 a.m. on the second Sunday in March and revert to standard time on the first Sunday in November."</i>
Wondering, if we need to change any variable settings to take into effect? If so, could anyone give details on it.
Wondering if SAP systems time is getting sync with Database servers or O/S ?
Thanks,
Sam

Hi,
The beginning of daylight saving time is normally not a problem as the time will jump from 2:00 to 3:00, so seen from SAP that no problem. You will only have a 1 hour hole, as the system had nothing to do for one hour.
So there are no settings or so to maintain or change. Just let SAP system run...
But it is different when switching back to "normal" time, as there you will have the so called double hour, and even as SAP is working on a solution to this, it is still recommended to shut down the SAP system for this period.
(searching for the term "daylight saving time" in OSS should give you some notes explaining how SAP is handling it)
As i know SAP system is taking the time from OS, but you can se what time the SAP system has, by in the GUI menu to select the "system" => "Status"...
(In the Popup you can se it in upper right corner)

  • Scenario for interface between a non sap system and a SAP erp

    Hello,
I need some help in order to elaborate a interface between a SAP ERP and a non-sap system with the help of a XI system.
       -  At first regarding the interface from the non sap system and a SAP ERP :
the non sap system sends a flat file to the XI system. The flat file contains a row with header data and rows with item data. We were thinking when the file arrives to the XI system, to save the data in a header database and in a items database in XI. is it possible ?
And then to have like a job that reads the database and creates idoc and sends them to the SAP erp and updates the xi header and items database  with a flag that means that the records have been sent to the SAP erp.
       -   Regarding the interface SAP erp to non SAP system:
the SAP erp sends idoc to XI. Then the idocs are transformed into flat file.
    Is this scenario possible ?
Do we need any adaptator between the non sap system and the XI ?
    Thank you for your help
    Christophe

    Hi Bontron,
Idoc doesnot support synchronous call. So you can use either proxy or function module and inturn call the idoc from them and send response back to xi. You need to have two scenarios for your design.
Scenario1:   Source File (file adapter) -- xi -- Dump into database tables (Jdbc Adapter)
Scenrio2:  Pickup form Database tables  (Jdbc Adapter) -- xi -- RFC Adapter  ---> This is synchronous call.
Regarding the interface SAP erp to non SAP system
You can send idoc to xi and from there use File adapter to send to the receiving system.
These blogs may help you to some extent:
    /people/sap.user72/blog/2005/06/01/file-to-jdbc-adapter-using-sap-xi-30
https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/XI/step%2bby%2bstep%2bRFC%2bto%2bJDBC%2bscenario   (your scenario will be opposite to this)

  • Tungsten E2 Reset Loop After Applying Security Panel Update and Daylight Savings Updates

I applied the Security Panel and Daylight Savings updates to my Tungsten E2 handheld.  The hotsync operation required me to press reset. Now my handheld loops on the Palm Powered screen.  Subsequent attempts to reset have the same result or ask me to delete all data.
Does anyone have a solution for this?
    Bob Ludwig
    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

If you have the data current in Palm desktop, do the hard reset. Do another sync to see if the E2 starts looping.
If it does, you will need to rename the backup folder in the username folder and then sync again.
Here is a link to an article regarding the location of the username folder on the PC http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/37326_en.html
Try installing one update at a time to see if one of the updates are causing the issue.

  • Daylight Savings for Arizona

Has Apple compensated the new Daylight Savings for Arizona, USA? We do not change our clocks, rather, we "switch" between Pacific and Mountain time zones.
Thanks and of course points will be applied.

    Madok,
You asked: So, like in the past, has Apple taken into account our unique situation with their latest updates?

  • Define Logical Systems and Template Names for BW Reports

    Hi experts
I would like to know if someone used the mentioned functionality 'Define Logical Systems and Template Names for BW Reports, I would like to know too IF I create a Z REPORT for example in webdynpro and insert it in this configuration it will work and where it will appear in sourcing cockpit?
    sds.
    Javier

    Hello Muthu,
BW reports will be shown in SRM Box if the corresponding BW roles for SRM are integrated with SRM roles.
You might to activate the corresponding datasource of this in SRM.
And since you have to connect the source system to BW, I think you have to define SRM system as logical system in BW.

  • COREid and Daylight Savings Time for 2007

Do COREid or any of its components require any special fix in order to comply or function properly with the new Daylight Savings Time for 2007?
    Background:
In August of 2005 the United States Congress passed the Energy Policy Act,
which changes the dates of both the start and end of daylight saving time
(DST). When this law goes into effect in 2007, DST will start three weeks
earlier (2:00 A.M. on the second Sunday in March) and will end one week later
(2:00 A.M. on the first Sunday in November) than what had traditionally
    occurred.
    Thanks,

We have experienced many problems with DST and COREid in the past; most of them resulting in hung Access server and unavailability. I don't know if it's because we have components distributed across multiple time zones or what. Our plan is to have someone available at the time change to cycle the services (and maybe the server as a whole) and do a health check after the fact. I hope this helps.

  • CF MX and Daylight Savings Time Change

Next year 2007, the Daylight Saving day (chaning the clocks
for spring and fall) will be changing. The Spring date will be a
month earlier and the fall date a month later then it has been for
    years.
How will the Cold Fusion Server for MX 7+ handle this? Will
it use the server time or use the internal CF Server clock?
    Thanks.

My problem is that now CFMX 6.1 thinks that it is 8 hours
    later in the day
than it really is (it is stuck on GMT now) and I am unable to
    get CFMX to
acknowledge the operating systems clock. :-(

  • Daylight Savings Time 2007 - firmware upgrade ?

In 2007 the start and end dates are going to be different for Daylight Savings Time. As a result, servers are going to need to be patched. Here is a related link I came across:
    http://sunsolve.sun.com/search/document.do?assetkey=1-26-102617-1
My question is, how do I know whether or not my firmware (PROM) needs to be updated too ? I have searched and have not found a lot of information on the topic of the firmware. Does anyone have any good links or pertinent information on whether the firmware would need to be updated or not ? I have several Netra T1's, Sunfire V480's, and my Sunblade 100 workstation that I am concerned about. Here is the OBP level from one of my V480's that is on Solaris 8: OBP 4.6.8 2002/09/04
and here is the OBP from a V480 on Solaris 9: OBP 4.10.14 2003/11/19.
    Thanks for any information.

The platforms mentioned in the Sun Alert 102617 that you linked above,
are all Sun Fire Midrange Server systems.
Their "firmware" is a part of a completely different sort of of architecture.
Their system controllers are a tiny computer, with its own OS, inside the Sun Fire system.
That Real Time Operating System (RTOS) that runs on the SC's has its own
time-of-day function that is independant of whatever Solaris gets installed
to whichever domain or domains you configure to the computer.
Thus the need for the Sun Alert, separate from any TOD discussion for Solaris..

  • Has anyone had problems in v5.0a of Iplanet calendar installed on a Sun box with creating events and daylight savings time?

Events created around 4/6/2002 at 8pm get created with the wrong time (9pm) and there are several other creation and display problems tied to Daylight Savings in April and October. Version 5.1 of the software seems to fix that but we are looking for a fix until we can upgrade. We have been using Windows systems to access the calendar.
    Thanks.

We have not seen exactly this, but many users appointments are lining up in the wrong time slots. Also, when scheduling, the time display is off by an hour. We have found what looks like a temporary fix.
We noticed that the problem only affects users who have the start of the week set to Sunday (when daylight savings time started). Setting the week to start on Monday fixed our display problems (you can do it in the users, options section).
    I am placing a support call w/SUN.

  • E-Load/e-ME and Daylight Savings Time Change

If you are using e-TEST suite versions 8.10 or older, please see the following knowledge base article on updating your JRE for e-Load and e-Manager Enterprise.
    http://qazone.empirix.com/entry.jspa?externalID=201&categoryID=15
(you must be logged into QAZone to view this link)
It is recommended that e-Load and e-Manager Enterprise customers update the JRE on their e-Load and e-ME server machines using the SUN JRE patch referenced in the article.
e-TEST suite version 8.20 which is releasing this week does not require any update.

  • SimpleDateFormat and Daylight Savings Time

I am trying to parse into a Date "April 15 1999" with "MMM d YYYY" using SimpleDateFormat. This string parses w/out error and the resulting Date is: Thu Apr 15 00:00:00 PST 1999.
