  • SAPLPD problem on cluster

    Hello experts,
On our BI 7.0 system, we have our Dev and QA environments on single servers. However, for the Production system we use Microsoft Clustering (MSCS).
I am not sure if my problem is related to the cluster architecture at all, but I am having problems printing to printer named LP01 which is supposed to call the SAPLPD program and pass the print job to the default printer as defined in my Windows XP desktop OS.
The LP01 printing works perfectly when I am printing to LP01 from my Dev and QA machines, but on the Prod server if I use LP01 it "doesn't call" the SAPLPD program -- I don't see the SAPLPD listener popping up on my screen and transferring the job to the OS.
Can you please help me with this?
    Thank you in advance.

    hi ugur,
what kind of cluster arcithecture you're using ? Is your DB and CI reside on same server or different server ?
If it is reside on same server, make sure that this server has minimumly one spool WP. If you're CI and DB is reside on different server, just make sure both server have minimumly one spool WP.

  • Problem in SAPLPD after SAPGUI upgrade

    Hi experts,
Since installation of SAPGUI 7.10 (PL 12), we face problems on printing jos in SAP :
when a print is called by a transaction which usually calls SAP Printer Deamon to execute the printing, the SAP Printer Deamon is not automatically opened and the printing is not done, even if SAP displays a message for confirming the prinitng.
We have each time to open manually the SAP printer Deamon and then after to execute the printing activities.
Can you tell us why it's going like this now ? is there a way to fix this and to have back the automatic opening of this tool to have the prints ?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Kashif

    Note 519852 has the answer.
We had the same issue on at least one pc.

You can check to see if the value is a valid working folder, by doing the following:
    -- Start
    -- Run
    -- cmd.exe
-- from the command window, C: and press enter
-- type in CD <value from SAPWorkDir>     <-- without the chevrons.
-- if this gives you a message "The system cannot find the path specified.", then the key value is incorrectly specified and should be updated...thus explaining why saplpd fails.
It sure would be nice if SAPLPD popped up some sort of error message.  Oh well.

    Hi,
You are getting the error because the printer name is greater than 40 characters.
The SAPLPD can only recognize printer names with 40 characters or less.
From the log, i believe you are using the printer BKC_7THFLR_HPCOLOR3800 ON THMUMGDCPS01 (FROM BKCDT1017) IN SESSION 11
but the SAPLPD is recognizing only till BKC_7thFlr_HPColor3800 on THMUMGDCPS01.
Try to change the printer name .. it will work

Apparently our Sandbox system didn't have a Spool server configured. That's why the error. It works perfectly in other systems.
The output device's Host Printer must be defined on the spool server for saplpd to recognize. Otherwise you see an error.

  • SAPLPD vers.6.22 and Local port printers problem

    Dear all,
We have old saplpd ver.6.03, print server with low performance and now I've installed now win 2003 and sapGUI 640 Final Release
    with saplpd 6.22.
For the network printers - they are installed as standard TCP/IP port.
For printers that are attached to clients PC I'm installing them as Local port printers.
Then on SAP R/3 4.6C (Oracle 9.2.0.5 HP-UX) spad install new printer on the new print server as destination host.
    Network printers work fine.
Problem is on the localy attached printers. On SP01 for all users and for that output device I see no errors all print request have status complated. And also on the saplpd log everything is OK,
    "Printjob PRD0000007850_1 reported as done".
I don't see any error but the problem is there is NO PAPER printed.
I've tested on many types of printers like Lexmark T614, HP 1200 and others. Every time the problem is when I've installed the printer as Local port.
If I change the destination host to the old saplpd server everything is ok, and the paper is printed.
Please help, the old saplpd server will be very soon moved to retirement.
    Thanks
    Ruzica

I also have that problem in KDE. I have an external HD with firewire or USB input.
My external disk is mounted successfully, but reading directories of the external disk in Konqueror makes all Konqueror instances freeze for some time (just the same as your problem). Even accessing external folders from konsole makes the konsole freeze for some time.
And another strange thing happens: when the external disk is mounted pacman hangs after looking for inter-conflicts... done. As soon as i switch off the HD, pacman goes on working...
When mounting the HD via Firewire the problems are greater than via USB.
I just downgraded my kernel to kernel26-2.6.20.10-1 and everything works perfect!

  • Problem With SAPlpd

    Hi everyone,
Some of my users cant print on SAP.
On SP01 an error ocurrs between the step when SAP Gui try to send to hostspool.
If i load SAPlpd manually the user can print.
But SAP Gui cant load the SAPlpd and the output order finish on error status.
I search on the internet for someone who have a problem like me, but i cant find anyone =/

    > On SP01 an error ocurrs between the step when SAP Gui try to send to hostspool.
Well - it would be helpful if you would tell which error is there.
    > If i load SAPlpd manually the user can print.
    > But SAP Gui cant load the SAPlpd and the output order finish on error status.
I suggest you switch to the new frontend printing method using controls:

  • SAPLPD printing problem from Webdynpro

I am calling a function module that prints spool locally. When executing the FM directly the SAPLPD daemon appears and prints to my local printer.
When calling from WebDynpro frontend the SAPLPD daemon does not appear even though when I look in SP01 the spool is said to have been printed.
I was told that the reason is because, WebDynpro is on a different application server! I think this is where it is printing.
I am using FM RSPO_RPRINT_SPOOLREQ for printing. How do I connect WebDynpro to my local SAPLPD?

Can't do frontend printing from Webdynpro because web applications loose connection to desktop sapgui which is requirement for frontend printing. OSS note exists explaining issue.

  • Printing Problem on Canon Printer

    Hi Gurus,
    Greetings and Thanks in advance!
I have problem in Invoice printing on new Canon LBP 2900 B printer. Whenever I print on this printer the one character from right side does not print. Whereas if the same printing we are doing on HP Laserjet printer it comes perfectly.
I tried to create a new output device through SPAD in which I have used following:
Device Type: SWIN Windows printing via SAPlpd (since i didnt find Canon printer in the list so i used windows standard)
    Device Class: Standard Printer
Host Spool Access Method: G:Front End Printing with control Tech.
    Host Printer: _Default
But it was giving the same problem. Please suggest the solution.

  • Problem with printing through SAP

    Hi All,
We have problem with printing, only one person through SAP can only print the documents successfully and the remaining are getting incomplete print output. This is happening only for transactions GD23 and FB03 (FI related transactions). We have tried with removing Saplpd folder and installing Sprint as suggested by SAP from note 894444. Still problem persists. Please suggest me in this regards.
    Veerendra Kumar.

    Hi Ardhian,
We are using Front end printing and already installed SAP GUI new version i.e. 7.10.
Only one user is able to print the document correctly from SAP, and other are getting incorrect print and getting error message "System cannot print the last 80 columns of the report" on one system.
SAP version we are using is 4.7EE.
Let me know if any more information needed for analysing the issue.
    VeerendraKumar.

  • Printing problem with gray cells in smartforms

    Hi there,
i have developed a smart form with some color logo and some gray shaded cells. If i print it by SAPLPD it comes out fine but when i print it on a printer configured in SAP it doesn’t come out properly. All the gray cells print as black cells. Any advice?
    Regards.

    Asif,
it some times depends upon the printer drivers also
i faced the same problem with one printer then i tried with the other hpcolor printer then i got the printout perfectly that means sometimes the drivers of the printer will crash with the program
so its better u try this one in the another printer
if u have this problem futher let me know

    Thank you very much....

    Hi Itmar,
I was having the similar issue on my Windows Server 2003 Terminal Server. At times SAP prints stop working. Then i changed Printer Type to "G" and it had solved the problem. It skips the use of SAPLPD service and calling windows printing service directly.
    Just try with that.
