Satellite A215-S7444 built-in webcam not working with MSN / Skype

Hi, I've just bought my laptop and right after installing the newest MSN and Skype, the video is not working with these programs. I tried to configure the video settings inside MSN and it told that "windows cannot connect to this webcam. It's in currently in use or not plugged in". The webcam is built-in, a Chicony USB 2.0.
Any hints ??

Hi there,
maybe you should download the webcam software for your machine from the toshiba driver download site and install it. The webcam works but the software sometimes behaves really weird so you just have to reinstall it. Maybe its an good idea to uninstall the old software before...

Hi all,
I recently updgraded to Mac OS X version 10.7.2 for my Intel based iMac. Since then, the built in iSight camera does not work with Google Chat. It does work with iChat and Photobooth though.
I reistalled the Google chat plug in (or I guess I installed it again). I ran a check, and my software updates are current. I tried the power down, unplug the power cord, wait 15 seconds routine, and that didn't work either.
When I go in to Mail Settings in gmail, click Chat, and then Verify your Settings, I don't see anything in the window next to it - just black.
Does anyone have any good ideas to help? Using google chat is just a lot more convenient for me than using iChat...

For some time now the Google Web Browser Video Chat plug-in (Also and automatic part of Installing Chrome) has been an issue in relation to going to Video Chat sites that use the Flash Plug-in.
My Flash Plug-in in Lion is version 11.1 r102
I don't have the Google one so I could not tell you the latest from them.
I am not sure that Google are moving very fast, if at all on this matter.
It could be as soon as either Flash makes an update it ruins the progress Google have made.
The Notice that EZ Jim has linked you to has been up more than a year (about 1/2 the life time of Snow Leopard)

It seems that the latest Skype versions don't work with AMD Radeon R7 200 Series graphic card. Try to uninstall the currently installed version and install the 6.14.0.104 version using the download links provided here: http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/ASUS-USB2-0-Webcam-not-recognized-by-Skype-6-18... Logitech C270 webcam not working with Skype

I'm using Skype 7.7 and it has all the updates that it needs as of right now. I've Windows 7 and my Logitech C270 Webcam won't work with my Skype and only shows the loading screen. Please, run the DirectX diagnostics tool. Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Firefox 19 not working with MSN homepage keeps crashing, Msn homepage works with IE 9 though?

I have always set MSN as my homepage with all versions of Firefox. Firefox suddenly stopped working (crashed 3 days ago). I had been running Firefox 19 for a few days with no issues, just stopped working with MSN and the screen just froze? I tried MSN with Internet Explorer and had no issues? I tried disabling the plug ins and Java, but no use? The only way I can use Firefox is to use a different homepage, then there are no problems.

I fixed the problem by removing all cookies as suggested in another similar post. Thanks.

Built in webcamera not working

I realize yesterday that my built in webcam is not working... and when I try to run the camera assistant software I recieve an error message that says that the camera is disabled.
what can I do?

Follow these steps to re-install the driver for the webcam. You will need to be logged in as an Administrator or have an Administrator password ready.
1. Click the Windows Start button.
2. Click Control Panel, System and Maintenance and then Device Manager.
3. Right-click on Chicony USB 2.0 Camera and select Update Driver Software. A yellow exclamation point indicates that the camera is recognized by Windows but is not working properly, probably because of problem with the device driver
4. Select Browse my computer for the driver software.
5. Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
6. Select USB Video Device from the list, and click Next.
7. If the message “Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device” appears, click Close.
8. Restart Windows.

Satellite C650-010 - Built in microphone not working

built in microphone did not work after three weeks. I tried to install new driver software from Toshiba website, but did not help. External webcam with microphone works well.
Yesterday microphone worked for ten minutes but then mute again.

The microphone belongs to internal webcam so you have to reinstall the webcam driver if internal microphone doesnt work properly.

Does this mean the internal microphone is muted? Please check the Windows sound settings if the microphone is listed properly under recording devices and set as default device.

New Satellite M40-237: Built in Microphone not working

Built in microphone is not working properly, when i tried to record with sound recorder.. and when played nothing could be heard . Where the built in microphone is located in the laptop, user manual doesn't show this one. I've tried all settings in the control panel. However no use but when i connect a external mic throught the jack provided that is working fine.
Does this model Satellite M40-237 has built-in microphone??????
Pl. help me locate the mic in the note book. and fix this problem.

Do you get static as well as any sounds you were attempting to record or just static? Is it picking up anything?
Try reinstalling the sound drivers.

Yoga 2 Pro: Webcam not working with Skype?

Hi all, weird problem. For some reason skype cannot load the webcam built into the Yoga 2 Pro.
It works in the Windows 8 camera app just fine.
I formatted and everything and it will just not work.
IT WAS WORKING two days ago, that's why I'm so confused. I've installed the drivers on the support page and have had 0 luck.
I'm not sure if this is a permission thing or what..
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately I've reinstalled the driver after uninstalling it from the device manager 10 times. I also formatted and reinstalled, but that didn't fix anything.
The camera works for the camera app + the webcam test online. I've tried rollback on the drivers, and installing earlier versions of skype with no luck.
Very strange, all it does is show the loading sign, and never loads.
This is the desktop version of skype btw. I'm going to try it with the non-dekstop version tonight and see if it works.
EDIT: Is there any other camera source besides 'Lenovo EasyCamera'? Their are two drivers on the drivers page, which one is recommended?

Hi, I have an iMac Intel Core with Built-in iSight, and ever since I've upgraded to Snow Leopard OS, my Skype does not recognize my webcam- when I select the "Built-in iSight" option, it says it is in use by another applications, and when I select the "Built-in iSight (leopard)" option, it's just a green screen.
I've tried reinstalling, updating, and calling Apple. My friend uses Skype on Snow Leopard with a MacBook Pro 13'' and his works fine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For any iSight trouble, start with Apple's http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090
If your iSight problem occurs in more than one app and more than one user account, the reset suggested there often restores proper function of inbuilt iSight.
However, if after carefully following all the suggestions in the "How to Troubleshoot iSight" article, your built-in iSight still does not work, and if it does not show as a USB device in your Mac's System Profiler, yours is most likely a hardware problem. In that case, contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.

HP Deluxe Webcam not working with Snow Leopard

All links to lists of webcams recommended for Mac OS X seem to be from the pre-Snow Leopard era, including the Mac Compatible Webcams site often recommended on these forums: http://www.mac-compatible-web-cam.com/
The Mac Compatible Webcams site above recommends the HP Deluxe Webcam (KQ246AA#ABA), a UVC compliant model.
However, I can say from long and painful experience that the HP Deluxe Webcam does not work on my Mac Mini (2009 edition) running Mac OS X 10.6.1. I've tried many things to get it working, based on info in these forums and elsewhere, but with no success. Some apps detect and can use its built-in microphone, but none have been able to use the camera itself, including Skype, iChat, Photo Booth, macam, meebo.com, and probably others I can't remember.
If anyone has been able to get the HP Deluxe Webcam to work under Mac OS X 10.6, particularly on a Mac Mini, I'd love to hear about it.
For that matter, there is very little online generally about getting any external usb webcam to work under Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard).
However, today in a Mac-oriented computer store, before my very eyes the salesperson plugged a Macally IceCam2 webcam fresh out of the box into a USB port on a Mac Mini running Snow Leopard, and the IceCam2 worked perfectly and instantly. It really did plug and play. So unless I get enlightenment from this or other online sources in the next day or 2, I'm going to exchange the HP Deluxe Webcam for a Macally IceCam2. If nothing else, seeing whether it works equally well on my Mac Mini will be a good diagnostic measure.

Good question. Two reasons: the store where I bought the HP Deluxe Webcam charges a 15% restocking fee on opened returns.
But more significantly, the HP Deluxe Webcam has received very good reviews and user comments online, whereas the Macally IceCam2 has received very mixed reviews, with more bad than good. Several reviewers and users raise the same negatives about the IceCam2: poor light sensitivity, bad colour distortion, and bad audio quality on its built-in microphone. I seem to have the same problem. When creating an web application it works fine, but when creating a desktop application it doesn't. I can't figure out what the problem is.

Touchsmart webcam not working with any messenger programs.

My Cam doesnt work with any messenger programs.. (yahoo, msn, skype...) Just bought it right before christmas and appearantly im not alone in this... can anyone help? its the only way my husband and i can see each other because he is deployed to Iraq. Please help!!!

first - please go to tools>options on skype, choose whichever is right for camera options and make sure the correct camera is appears in the drop-box. Anything with "hp-camera" or "cybershot" will do.
if it still doesn't work you will need to open the touchsmart software and disable the camera usage through that software - because once a software uses the webcam - any other software cannot do use it. ( just like you cannot use the camera on skype and on msn messenger at the same time.
