Satellite C55-A-1MW wont start with new RAM inserted

Hey .
I hope to find someone that can help me.. I've bought ram-memories and tried 4 different memories in my Satellite C55-A-1MW. But every ram card I insert makes the computer unable to start.. it will light up just to shut down again.
Is there some compability issue or anything? I've used 2 different aData Ram extensions car, 1 4gb and 1 2gb . the 4gb card was 1333 mhz and the 2gb card was 1600mhz. and i've tried 2 different corsair cards 4gb 1600mhz.
Is it something that makes it only able to extend the RAM with Toshibas own memories or is the second cardslot for RAM memory broken?

As I can see you use RAM modules with different specifications. Your problem is definitely RAM compatibility problem and you should use RAM modules with the same specification.
According notebook specification there are 4 memory slots and notebook can handle up to 32GB of RAM.
Compatible RAM modules are:
4GB DDR3L-1600 - PA5104U-1M4G
8GB DDR3L-1600 - PA5104U-1M8G
Of course you can use modules from other manufacturers but please don't use some cheap products. I can recommend you usage of Kingston memory modules.

  • Power Mac G5 Refuses to start with new RAM!

I have a Power Mac G5 Dual 1.8GHz June 2004. I know I read somewhere online that it takes 1GB sticks of RAM, and that it has to be dual channel. I went to Best Buy today and got myself 2 sticks of 1GB DDR PC3200 "Compatible with 400/333/266MHz" Dimms, and installed them in pairs. When I start them with or without my old memory, my mac starts up, makes no noises, but the fromt white LED light blinks 2 times, and does this repeadedly until I shutdown and install the old 512MB sticks. I need to get this new RAM to work in here, I just paid $112 total for 2 sticks, and I am not ready to go back to the store yet. Is there something I am missing here? Something I am not doing right?
    New RAM Specs:
    1GB DDR Dimm,Q PNY Technologies, PC3200 "Compatible with 400/333/266MHz"
I need to get this to work on my machine! Thanks for any help.

Is there something I am missing here?
Not all RAM is created equal and seldom does over the counter PC RAM work in a G5.
Buy and install ONLY guaranteed Mac compatible RAM.

    BTW, you paid too much.
When I start them with or without my old memory, my mac starts up, makes no noises, but the fromt white LED light blinks 2 times,
    That means "Incompatible RAM types".

  • Satellite L30 10Y doesn't boot with new RAM modules

    Hi,
just regged with this forum as I am having a memory upgrade problem.
I have read through a few of the memory problems on here and all users say its a comaptible memory issue. I had Hynix 512MB RAM in my laptop and I purchased 2 x 1GB of Hynix memory both of these are matching sticks to the installed memory but when I installed them my laptop wouldnt boot at all. It would only boot if I had one stick in at a time.
I tried switching top and btm ports and even when one stick was installed it says in XP, Vista and Windows 7 (yes I have tried all systems) 896MB available. I even tried using my other Hynix stick but it only booted and showed the highest stick of 1GB (896MB usable in Windows 7). After reading all the threads I'm just wondering if this is a hardware fault or is there a fix in the Toshiba world or perhaps in the Toshiba world the L series is nearly obselete and not worth the bother to help out the people who unwittingly bought thier merchandise.
I apologise for being a bit down on Toshiba but a laptop which states what it can run and doesnt a company should hold its hand up and say yes there is a fault and help deal with the problem.

You are seeing 896MB because the rest is reserved for the Graphics Card VRAM.
Sometimes RAM can simply be not compatible, due to timing incompatibilities or RAM chip/controller design differences.

  • Satellite Pro 460 won't start with new hard drive in

I recently got a Satellite Pro 460 but it had no hard drive in.
It starts great with no drive in but as soon as I put a brand new hard drive in it won't start.
I thought that it might be to new a hard drive so I took my old working drive out my old Toshiba Satellite and still it won't start.
Any one got any ideas why this is and what can i do about it

It sounds like 80GB is too large for that model, I really doubt the BIOS and Chipset can support more than 8GB HDD. 8GB may not even work.
Here is some information regarding different HDD modes and limitations: http://www.adminxp.com/hardware/index.php?aid=129
504MB - limitation where the system is limited by the compatibility with the values of the BIOS system and the ATA interface by help of using the CHS mode. This limitation is valid for older computers 286/386/486. (1024 cyl 16 heads x 63sectors/track x 512 = 528,482,304bytes - 504 MB). In many cases special programs will help (Disk Ontrack Manager - Seagate, Disk Wizard - WD). Some operating systems can have problems with this software support and can have higher requirements on your knowledge of the OS and used programs.
2GB - Limitation of the maximal value of the FAT16 file system partition for DOS and Windows 9x. Some older computers cannot address more than 4095 cylinders (4,095 x 16 x 63x 512 - 2,113,413,120 bytes)
4GB Limitation of Windows NT - Partition with the FAT16 system cannot be higher than 4GB - Fdisk cannot be used for creating, but the Disk manager is used (Disk management in Windows 2000)
8GB - Limitation of the BIOS system. For the support of larger capacities you need extended functions of the BIOS system. Limitations valid for the x86 computers and some motherboards with Pentium and Pentium II processors. Some other operating systems must know how to use the extended BIOS functions (Extended Interrupt 13). We can use Windows NT 4.0 as an example where you need an updated disk driver or the Service Pack. (OS - DOS 6.xx and lower, Windows 3.x and lower and some other older OS do not have the support of the Ext. Int13).
8 GB - Limitation of the FDISK program in the DOS 6.22 OS.
?? GB - Possible problem with disks larger than 67GB under Windows 9x... See article WD800
    32GB - (65535 x 16 x 63 x 512 - 33,822,351,360 bytes) other limitation of the BIOS system.
68GB - Possible problem with disks larger than 67GB under Windows 9x... See article WD800
137GB - Limit for the ATA specifications (28-bit addressing for particular sectors - 268435455 sectors - 137,438,952,960 bytes)
2,2 TBytes - 32-bit addressing used by new operating systems (in Windows 98 by help of the FAT32 file system).
144 PetaBytes - a limit for new ATA specification using 48-bit addressing, in peparation. Maxtor, Microsoft, VIA, Compaq and other companies under name Big Drives participate the development. The standard should be implemented and authorized by the ANSI NCITS T13 Technical Committee organization (www.t13.org) in the prepared ATA/ATAPI-6 standard (see www.maxtor.com/bigdrive)

  • Satellite C660-2Q8 does not start with 8GB RAM

hello i have a toshiba satellite c660-2q8 laptop,
when i got it it only had 1g of Ram i now have got 8g of RAM for it but as soon as i fit it the laptop starts like normal with the BIOS screen then i get a black screen with a flashing - and thats it.
After some time it will restart and do it again.
I have contacted the place i got the RAM it.
The RAM is right and there said it was the BIOS that needs updating but it is version 1.50 and will not update cos it is up to date if i put the old RAM back it boots fine
    can some one please help

Its NOT BIOS issue but the RAM modules are NOT compatible.
Even if the guys says that the RAM module are right, obviously they are NOT
The 4GB Genuine Toshiba PC3 DDR3 (1333MHz) Memory Module PA3918U-1M4G should be OK and should work properly.
Also the Kingston modules are great and provide good quality.
Cheaper modules might not be fully compatible or would not work properly.

  • Satellite C655-S5041 won't boot with new RAM (8GB)

I recently bought some Ram from Newegg which can be found here. I installed the aforementioned Ram into my laptop following the correct method (unplug, remove battery, etc.) however when I booted my computer up I received a black screen with a blinking cursor that freezes after a few seconds shortly after the manufacturer's page is loaded.
I know for a fact that the Ram I bought is compatible with my laptop as I'm using one of the 2 sticks at the moment along with the original Ram from my laptop. Here's where I am really having issues though.
When I have just one stick of Ram I purchased installed without the original stick my computer fails to boot up also regardless of which slot the Rams in. I have tested the sticks I bought, and my computer will boot up with them, just not without the original stick that came with my computer which wouldn't be an issue except that a) there's only 2 slots, and b) my laptop can't have more than 8GB of Ram.
My BIOS is up to date (Ver1.6) and so long as I have my original stick of Ram installed my computer boots without any issues. Needless to say you can see why I'm in need of some help.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you need any other specifics regarding my computer or settings feel free to ask and I'll do what I can to find them out.

    Satellite C655-S5047 Specifications
    Satellite C655D-S5041 Specifications
Is your model is a Satellite C655-S5047, or a Satellite C655D-S5041, as there is no C655-S5041. Toshiba laptops are extremely finicky about the RAM they will accept, regardless of the advertisied compatability of other modules. It is imperative to to be percise about your model number as:
The only approved replacement RAM modules for a Satellite C655-S5047 are shown on the spec sheet:
    Memory Upgrade
    Part Number Description
    PA3669U-1M2G Toshiba 2GB DDR2-800 Memory Module
    PA3670U-1M4G Toshiba 4GB DDR2-800 Memory Module
Or the best quality compatible Kingston Memory modules. However, if this is your system, unless you are very lucky, I doubt you will find the 4GB modules available from Toshiba, Kingston, or a third party supplier. I use the same memory in my system.
The only approved replacement RAM modules for a Satellite C655D-S5041 are shown on the spec sheet:

    PA3677U-1M4G Toshiba 4GB DDR3-1066 Memory Module
Or the best quality compatible Kingston Memory modules. These modules:
    Part Number: PA3677U-1M4G
    Part Number: KTT1066D3/4G
You purchased DDR3-1066 modules, which might work in the Satellite C655D-S5041. However, I sincerely doubt they will work in the Satellite C655-S5047.

  • Iphoto crashes so tried the Alt start with new library and that worked. So now what? How to I get back to my pictures.

Iphoto crashes so tried the Alt start with new library and that worked. So now what? How to I get back to my pictures.

That shows you that iPhoto is working correctly and whatever issue you are having is based in your original library.
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Is it ok to leave my old photos in Aperature and start with new photos in Lightroom?  MacPro with 2 x 2.26 Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon processor, 6 GB memory, 1 TB harddrive.

Is it ok to leave my old photos in Aperature and start with new photos in Lightroom?  MacPro with 2 x 2.26 Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon processor, 6 GB memory, 1 TB harddrive?
Or should I transfer them to Lightroom?

That's really a personal preference. Support for Aperture is coming to an
end and you may find yourself unable to get to theses photos in the future
in the case of a HDD crash if you can't get the software to reinstall.
Faced with that prospect, I would probably put it on my list of things to
do when I am feeling really bored and looking for something to amuse myself
with. You can export your Aperture photos in their original format to a
folder on your desktop and then import them into Lightroom. Use the copy
option on the import to save the photos in a new folder within your
    Lightroom catalog.

  • Macbook pro wont start with 3 beeps

    hi
Few months back I purchased a refurbished macbook pro (late 2012 model) with i7 processor and 8 GB ram. Now after 2 months I experienced problem with mac - it wont start with 3 beeps. I looked at different articles in net and found about no memory bank problem. I opened the back and changed slots and it seemed to fix the issue. However the issue was recurring few times and ram was changed. Again the issue seemed to have resurfaced. I tried with memtest in single user mode and RAM passes the tests.
What else could be the issue around the macbook pro. Do you suggest taking it to local Apple store to get it checked?
    Thanks

Test each module installed alone while switching slots (power down before switching and remove battery.) Do both modules work alone in each slot? If they do, then it would appear the memory is good as are the slots. So, something else is at play and only an Apple Store has the equipment to go further - make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.

  • Satellite P300-156: Vista wont start after installation of Toshiba Tempo

    Hi
I have a new Satellite P300-156 which I have been using for about a month with no problems. It has been great.
This morning I had a message come up to install Toshiba Tempo which I did and all was fine until I restarted the laptop and now Vista wont start.
I have followed all the diagnostic tools, tried system restore etc... but still nothing.
I currently live in Italy, so is hard to take it into a computer repair shop as I dont speak Italian and the operating system is in english.
From what I can see my only option now is to do the TOSHIBA HDD Recovery, but I would loose some data which I have done since my last backup. Is there any way to backup data to a usb storage device using command promts before I do this, or is there a simpler way out of this?
    Any advice would be great.
    Thanks
    Keith

    Hi
Thanks for getting back so soon, however, F8 does nothing when starting. I have an option of F2 or F12, but neither gives me options to access last known good configuration.
Is that the same as a system restore from the Vista system recovery options as I have tried this (gives you a list of last known configurations). But still no luck.
If I do the TOSHIBA HDD Recovery function do I need a disc for this?
    thanks

  • Satellite C55-A-1MW - Get rid of malware

I just bought a Satellite C55-1MW. From the first start-up, I've been plagued with malware (not the annoying apps that come with Windows 8.1). They keep popping up everywhere, regardless of whether I'm using IE, Mozilla or Chrome. One program called V9 or something is particularly annoying, and I'm unable to get rid of it, after trying 3 different antivirus and malware programs.
Who's idea was it to start selling Toshiba laptops with pre-installed viruses? I don't think it's a good market strategy... And how in the #&%#& can I get this computer to work normally?

Maybe it sounds stupid but I dont know what kind of malware is present on your machine.
Every notebook model delivered with preinstalled OS is preinstalled with recovery image designed by Toshiba.
This recovery image contains operating system, all necessary drivers, Toshiba specific tools and utilities and some additional preinstalled software.
I have also Win8 machine with original preinstalled recovery. I have removed preinstalled software that I dont need so every of us can optimize preinstalled recovery image.
Check a bit what is installed and remove all preinstalled stuff you dont need.
