Satellite C55-B5299 RAM Upgrade

Hello all, I just bought a new Toshiba Satellite C55-B5299 and I would like to increase its RAM for better performance. On a few review sites, however, it is stated that the user is not able to upgrade the RAM in this laptop. So, is it possible to upgrade the RAM? If so, what is the maximum RAM it can hold, should I not exceed 1333 MHz, and is there any particular brand that would be best to use? Thank you!

i would like to add a optical drive I need the part number
Assuming you have the model in the Subject...
Satellite C55-B5299 (PSCMLU-02801M)
Satellite C50-BBT2N11 (PSCMLU-03801F)
That second computer (in the same part-number family as yours) can be ordered with the optical drive. Try asking for the part number of the drive in that model.

PS These models are too new to be listed on the website. It would take a phone call.

  • Overall Trouble With Satellite C55 B5299

    Hi Guys.....
My wife has a Sat, Laptop C55 B5299. We have had constant trouble. Now I understand that she only has 2 gb
of RAM...(which, if you figure the video card takes 1/2 gig....only 1 1/2 gb)....Could this be the only reason why there is so much trouble? Thanks, in advance. Carl

While 2GB RAM is low for modern standards, it shouldn't be a major problem for regular use. Windows is very efficient at managing its memory. The impact of graphics use of memory varies based on how much you have and what you use it for. That number is just the maximum and isn't reserved (not on newer machines). I'd check what software you have running. For instance, I used to use AVG Antivirus on all of my computers. As it turns out, AVG is VERY resource intensive, so I switched to Avast instead. Try doing a bit of research. Open the Task Manager and go to the "Details" tab to see specifically what's using CPU or memory and look up any questionable applications.

  • SATELLITE C55D-B5212 Ram Upgrade?

I really would like to know if I can upgrade this specific model of my laptop. I want to put more ram into my system (8 or up to 16 if possible). So if someone could get back to me on this, it would really help. And if anyone knows if Toshiba or a basic company like Best Buy would do the upgrade for me, that would also help a lot!

I want to upgrade my Toshiba Satellite M100-222 RAM to maximum. My laptop supports 4 GB of RAM.
Laptop's current RAM is factory default I bought my laptop with 1 GB RAM:
    2x Hynix HYMP564S64BP6-C4 - 512 MB (DDR2-533, 266 MHz)
Please advise... whether to purchase these memory modules:

  • Satellite C55-B5299 Optical Drive

I purchased two C55-B5299 laptops for my grandkids for Christmas and didn't realize they didn't have an optical drive.  After removing the insert blank and looking in the side slot of the unit, it looks like a drive can be installed on the laptop.  Can anyone give me a part number for a drive that will work with this particular model/
    Thanks for the assistance.

  • Satellite A110-174 - RAM upgrade questions

    Hi,
    I have a Satellite A110-174
I want to buy some RAM module (it uses ddr2 ram, 533 MHz), but it seems impossible to found them.
I can only find 800 or higher frequencies.
Can I use them or they will give me problems / incompatibilities?
Can I mount 1 module or it's necessary to buy 2 modules?
Will the motherboard read up to 4Gb or it is necessary a Bios update?
    Thank you

Satellite A110-174 can be upgraded up to 4GB RAM.
In order to use a RAM dual channel feature, two modules have to be used.
This means 2GB RAM module in each slot.
The 4GB RAM limitation is caused by Mobile Intel 945GM Express chipset
http://ark.intel.com/de/products/27857 as well as the Intel Core CPU T1350 http://ark.intel.com/de/products/27243
The CPU supports the 533Mhz FSB (front side bus) and the RAM modules will work max at 533Mhz.
So you should use the DDR2-533 modules
But sometimes you should be able to use the DDR2-667Mhz modules. In such case the 667Mhz module speed will be clocked down to 533Mhz

  • Satellite A110-195 - Ram upgrade questions

    Hello
    I have Toshiba Satellite A110-195
    My questions are:
1)Whats the maximum size of ram per slot,1gb or 2gb?
I have 2 rams on my laptop right now 512 MB each.Am I able to replace one of them with a 2gb ram?
2)Right now on my laptop I have DDR2[PC2-4300] rams.
Any DDR2 SoDimm ram will work?
Or the ram must be DDR2 and exactly PC2-4300.

Notebook supports the Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset
    http://ark.intel.com/products/27857/Intel-82945GM-Graphics-and-Memory-Controller
According to Intel page, the chipset handles max 4GB RAM.
This means that you can use 2 x 2GB RAM or one 4GB RAM module.
    The chipset supports DDR2-400 / DDR2-533 / DDR2-667 RAM modules

    Hi,
I bought 512MB PC3200 RAM to my L10. After installing the module the computer failed to boot up. I tried all possible combinations (like changing the slots, installing only the new modules) but the computer only boots up with its original memory module. I would appreciate any help on the issue.

  • Satellite M50-108: Ram upgrade from 512MB to 1GB

My Laptop model is a M50-108! But i cant see info about this model anywhere, what kind of memory would be best to add to my computer? (512 MB one )!

    Hi,
you surely mean the type because to ask which size would be funny. :) (more is always better)
The right type for that machine is DDR333 and the maximum amount of RAM you can install is 2GB (2 x 1GB memory module).
It does not matter which manufacturer but I can tell you from my experience that a well known brand (kingston, crucial, samsung) is always better then a no name. And try to use two absolutely similar modules because of performance and compatibility reasons.
    Hope I could help.

  • Satellite C55-A-1NU - RAM upgrade information and SSD upgrade

I have a Toshiba Satellite C55-A-1NU and I want to know if is possible to replace the optical drive with a SSD? Can anyone tell me what do I need to do? What kind of rack and SSD should I buy. Thanks
Also I want to improve the ram memory the laptop has only 1 slot 4 gb ddr3 1600 mhz but is single channel. What model should I buy to work in dual channel I use cpu z to identify the model and it shows me hmt451s6mfr8a do I need exactly this one or I can put 2 of other manufacture ty.

This upgrade with SSD is not supported by Toshiba so all you do is on your risk. Check please this forum. If Im remembering well some people have already posted own experiences.
I think in most cases they have ordered such HDD/SSD caddy but disc drive was not recognized at all.
In my opinion you should not do such upgrade.
    RAM
According notebook specification you can upgrade RAM up to 16 GB and at the bottom side under memory cover you should find two memory slots. How to upgrade RAM is described in users manuals. Check please page 72.
Compatible RAM modules for your notebook model are:
    4GB DDR3L-1600 - PA5104U-1M4G
    8GB DDR3L-1600 - PA5104U-1M8G

  • Can i add ram to the existing ram on my Satellite C55-A5308

I got a C55-A5308 in a bundle about half a year ago. It came with 4GB RAM and I would like to have 8GB. I want to avoid having to replace my RAM, as that would save me $50 or so. Problem is I don't know if i can simply add 4Gb of RAM to what I already have. I know that is possible on some laptops but I am unsure about my model and Satellites in general. I don't want to waste $40 on 4GB when it turns out it won't fit. Would really appreciate the help
edit: Also if anyone could tell me the best memory cards to use that would be great
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Satellite C55-A5308 (PSCF6U-0E4066)
According to the spec above, you have two slots and only one is occupied. You can indeed add another 4 GB in the second slot.
See the section Adding memory (optional), which begins on p. 44 of the User's Guide.
       Satellite/Satellite Pro C40/C50/C70 - A Series User’s Guide
The spec suggests this module for your model.
       Toshiba PC3L-12800 DDR3/DDR3L-1600MHz Computer Memory Module - 4GB
You might also check the prices for Kingston's KTT-S3B/4G and KTT-S3C/4G, both of which are also recommended.

  • Satellite C55-A5182 - Screen flickering after windows 10 upgrade.

Satellite C55-A5182: screen flickers after windows 10 upgrade....help!!!

Hi there ,  Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome! This is a great site to get answers and ask questions. I read your post on the HP Support Forums and I understand that you are having an issue with the Touchscreen on your HP Notebook - 15-ac020nr. You had mentioned that since your Windows 10 Upgrade, it no longer works.  Have you tried doing all updates (Windows, HP Support Assistant, BIOS)?Have you tried restarting the Notebook a couple of times?Have you tried to run the Windows Troubleshooter? Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system that need updating for Windows 10. The HP Support Assistant will also help find a proper driver for you to use.  Updated Windows 10 drivers will become available on the HP Drivers and Downloads Page for your product. They will be released as they become available to HP. I did find a troubleshooting document for you called Touch Screen Issues. Although it does say it is for Windows 8, it will still work for Windows 10.  Please follow the provided troubleshooting steps and re-post with the results.  Have a great day!

  • Satellite C55-A-1MW wont start with new RAM inserted

    Hey .
I hope to find someone that can help me.. I've bought ram-memories and tried 4 different memories in my Satellite C55-A-1MW. But every ram card I insert makes the computer unable to start.. it will light up just to shut down again.
Is there some compability issue or anything? I've used 2 different aData Ram extensions car, 1 4gb and 1 2gb . the 4gb card was 1333 mhz and the 2gb card was 1600mhz. and i've tried 2 different corsair cards 4gb 1600mhz.
Is it something that makes it only able to extend the RAM with Toshibas own memories or is the second cardslot for RAM memory broken?

As I can see you use RAM modules with different specifications. Your problem is definitely RAM compatibility problem and you should use RAM modules with the same specification.
According notebook specification there are 4 memory slots and notebook can handle up to 32GB of RAM.
    Compatible RAM modules are:
    4GB DDR3L-1600 - PA5104U-1M4G
    8GB DDR3L-1600 - PA5104U-1M8G
Of course you can use modules from other manufacturers but please don't use some cheap products. I can recommend you usage of Kingston memory modules.

  • Re: Satellite A660 - No boot after RAM upgrade

    I have just gotten 8GB of RAM for my Satellite A660, it is Corsair CM3X4GSD1066 4GB PC-8500 (1066MHz) 204-pin SO-DIMM DDR3 RAM CL7.
The system posts fine and the 8GB is showing up in BIOS but once its clears post and goes to load Windows it stops on the black screen, the cursor flashes a few times then it stops. I have left it for about 5 minutes and it wont boot through.
    Please Help.
I have replaced the 4GB sticks and it works fine.

    Hello
For me it sounds like that the modules are not compatible or have defective sectors
As Akuma wrote, such performance modules are risky in notebook because you dont have any options to change the latency values as on desktop computers. So I always prefer Kingston modules for notebook RAM upgrade.
But before you buy other modules, try a BIOS update and load the default settings.

  • Satellite C55-A-19N: 4GB RAM installed but only 2,39 is usable

    Hello,
I have Toshiba satellite C55-A-19N with Windows 7 32-bit. It has 4 GB of installed memory, but only 2,39 is usable.
    Bios is the last.
I can not find anywhere in the system the ability to change it.
My desktop with core i5-2500K can see 3.29Gb from 4Gb RAM, why toshiba cant see it?

The shared part depends on the RAM amount which is installed.
The notebook description and the NVIDIA GeForce 710M details says this:
Video card: up next to 3787 MB with 4 GB system memory installed
and up to 4,095 MB with 6 GB of system memory (64-bit Windows operating system only).
So the shared part seems to be bigger than 300MB.
    By the way:
    open msconfig using search
    in msconfig click on boot
next inside boot click on advanced options
In boot advanced options click on maximum memory and increase the value
then click OK. Next click apply in msconfig and then restart your pc
