Satellite C660-26G - unexpected error after removing USB stick

Hello all, i am in need of help here.
I have a Satellite C660-26G, 2 days old and a USB memory stick has been removed from the laptop while it was working, and I believe caused some sort of corruption.
The machine starts, passes the logo, and the windows loading bar in white comes along bottom of the screen. It freezes about 1/3rd of the way along, and then throws up an error screen stating the following:
"Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer. This error can be caused by unplugging a removable storage device such as an external USB drive while the drive is in use .... and so on ...."
It states to plug it back in and restart the machine.
I have tried this and always the same, i have even plugged it into both ports available, and to no avail, the same problem exists.
Now searching the forum I thought nothing more of restoring to the factory settings as there were no physical discs supplied with the new machine.
Using the reboot and F8 method results in no action and same error in the end.
Bottom of the error screen states;
Status: 0xc00000e9
Info: An unexpected I/O error has occurred.

Whether this issue has any relation to the incident with you USB stick or not (I don't think so since modern OS'es simply aren't so unstable) it still seems your unit is in need of professional attention.
This is not something that is possible to fix without further hardware diagnosis.
I would suggest to call your local support or talk to your dealer about how to get your unit to service.

I hope you would help me.
I am having an issue with my bluetooth dongle and satellite c660-108.
It works all perfectly. It connects devices via bluetooth and I can do everything I want.
But then when I am shutting down laptop and turning on again it won't go if the bluetooth dongle is still in the usb socket.
I see Toshiba screen and then it hangs with black screen and blinking cursor in top left corner.
I have to turn it off, take out the bluetooth dongle and then turn it on again.
And then windows starts. After that I have to put in bluetooth dongle again if I want to work with it.
It is not a huge issue but it is a bit annoying when I have to take out the bluetooth and put it back again to get the windows started.
I am currently running under win 8.1 but had it already with win 8.
Anybody any ideas??

Mostly the blinking cursor appears because the notebook cannot find an bootable device.
It looks like the unit cannot switch to the HDD while the USB dongle is connected.
I would recommend you checking the booting order in the BIOS.
Set the HDD at the first place and the USB as last possible booting device.
Save the changes and check if it helps.

I have an HP Photosmart 309 a All-In-One. It is attached to my desktop computer, which utilizes the Windows XP system. I've owned the All-In-One for about three years. I do not use the All-In-One -- or this computer -- very much. (I mostly use my laptop.)
I have not made any changes to this computer and/or All-In-One in quite some time. This error message is new. I do not have a USB device attached to the printer. Even with the error message displayed, the All-In-One allows me to print, but it will not allow me to make a copy or scan. How do I make this error message go away? What's wrong with my All-In-One? Satellite L505-10K - Unexpected error when using recovery disk creator

Toshiba Satellite L505-10k
Can't make any recovery disc when I open toshiba recovery media creator, it says: an unexpected error occurred. Close the program and then restart it (error code: 0D00F6-49-00000015) and then I click ok and then it comes again and then I click ok and it comes again and I click ok and then the program comes and when I create the disc it comes to the verification, but then it says: Unable to read the following file. E: \ Boot \ fonts \ chs_boot.ttf (error code: 02015-20-00000000).
I really do need help, I'm afraid something will happen to my computer, so is there anyone who knows something about this kind of problem?

I don't now if that works be cause when I got my computer I tried to create an recovery disc but it says yeah, you know, and I was looking in the folder if the file was there as it says that it could not read but the file isn't there so I don't think that it works to do an recovery from the HDD but I know that I can order an recovery disc from toshiba but I don't know if it works to do an recovery with it du you think so? but if I order an recovery disc do you think that I can get it for my language? Exchange 2013 ECP "500 Unexpected Error" after Updates

after installing the latest Server 2012 Updates, i get the error "500 Unexpected Error" when i try to Login to the Exchange ECP. There wer no changes to the URL or front-/backend.

Please double check the port bindings are correct.
Please try to run lodctr /r and reset IIS as administrator.

Help needed after "repairing" usb stick -16gb

Hi there,
currently have a problem with my Lexar usb stick, approx. 2 years old, 16gb stick. I went for the usual cleaning method of removing files, and checking sizes of folders etc one day, and then decided to check a folder, right clicked and went the usual "get info" ....it started to think...and then ejected the usb stick. Plugged it back in, and did the same thing...same result. So the third time i plugged it back in and decided to do a repair disk in Disk Utilities.
It ran its course, and then it ejected by itself, thinking it was done its job. okay....so i unplug it from the side of my Macbook Pro...running Snow Leopard...and then plugged it back in...and nothing came up...
Usually a little light on the usb stick lights up, but nothing happened....tried plugging it in a few times, nothing.
Tried a variety of PC computers....the only thing i can see is that the disk keeps ejecting itself from the device manager....but i cannot mount it or anything.
I need help, as there are crucial files on it.
Also, when I try to do a boot to windows from Mac, when you hold option/alt down, it thinks and keeps thinking but never shows the drive. ....assuming its dead...by why can windows at least see it, just not connect it as a drive.
Whenever I try running recovery programs it does not find it.
so again, I cannot do much, but would really like to just put it out there for anyone who has successfully taken care of these problems in the past.

I've tried running Linux as well, but not too familiar with it...as the usb stick does not even connect there either.

USB stick is Flash memory you should not delete files often, the only thing you should if you need to free space on it is FORMAT.
You can try and connect it, Disk Utility should see it. Do erase and use format FAT32.
If Disk Utility does not see it, try the same on a windows PC; if that does not work either... gone:

I bought a new Toshiba Satellite NB10T-A-101 and would like to boost performance by changing the HDD by a SSD and install windows 8.1 Pro.
I'm however unable to boot from USB, it always mention:
+Reboot and select proper Boot Device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key.+
I already disabled secure boot, used 5+ different usb sticks (work all fine on other laptops).
Can you please tell me what the approach is to change the HDD and then boot from a bootable (UEFI) usb stick.

The notebook Satellite NB10T-A-101 was equipped with an Intel N2810 CPU which is part of the new Intel Bay Trail-M platform.
This new Intel Bay Trail technology allows the installation of UEFI capable systems:
Win 8 or Win 8.1
Just few questions:
Did you already change the HDD to SSD drive?
If yes, is the new SSD drive recognized in the BIOS?
Did you try to boot from this Win 8.1 USB flash memory stick before you switched to SSD drive?

Windows 7 doesn't release USB stick - can't safely remove USB stick

Sometimes when I'm trying to safely remove an USB stick formatted with NTFS from any Windows 7 installation, Windows 7 refuses to release the USB device.
This occurs on host machines as well as on VM guest machines. When I'm attaching the USB stick to a virtual machine (VMware Workstation) and when this effect occurs in there I can see from Workstation's device manager that the USB stick is getting accessed
once every (approx.) five seconds. The USB stick shortly flashes up accordingly then, so there is indeed some access to the USB stick.
Now, this doesn't happen all the time. This effect only occurs, say once or twice a week.
Waiting for 5 to 10 Minutes, the low-frequent regular short flashing finally stops and I can safely remove my USB stick then.
Well, what I want to know: Which Windows service is sometimes accessing my USB stick in this manner?
This happens on several machines, some of them having almost no software installed.
When exploring the file handles with SysInternals Process Explorer, there's only a Windows Explorer handle attached to the USB device.
I suspect it might either be Windows Defender (having Search Removable Devices enabled), Windows Search or Windows Defragment. But this is only a guess.
Can anyone please enlighten me on which service is capturing my USB device for such a long time, keeping me from safely removing the USB device?

We can use USB parser in WDK8 or 8.1.
To install USB ETW parsers:
1.Determine whether you have 32-bit Windows or 64-bit Windows: ◦Open the Start Menu.
◦Right click Computer and select Properties.
◦Look at the System type field. (Note: 32-bit corresponds to “x86” for the downloads).
2.Install Netmon:
◦Go to the bottom of the Quick details on the Netmon 3.4 download page and press the Download button for your system type.
◦Download and run the exe. When it asks about setup type, Typical is fine.
3.Download and install the Windows Driver Kit for Windows 8.
4.Allow execution of PowerShell scripts:
◦Open the Start screen, type "powershell", right click on the Windows PowerShell result, and select Run as administrator.
◦Type or paste the following command:
Set-ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned -Force
4.Close the PowerShell window
5.Open a PowerShell window (you don't need to Run as administrator) and run the following commands. Adjust the path if you installed the kit to a different location:

Crash at launch after removing USB drive during import

I was importing a large set of photos and yanked the USB drive out where the Photos library lives by mistake.
Now the Photos app crashes a few seconds every time after launch with the following exception:
Assertion failure in -[__RKMasterMetadataHelper initWithMaster:], /SourceCache/PhotoApp/PhotoApp-209.52/lib/redrock/Database/Models/mutators/RKMa sterMutator.m:58
Invalid parameter not satisfying: master
abort() called
Since abort() is being called, I assume that somebody wrote the code to catch this error but considered that it's a rare enough of an edge case not to bother properly recovering from the error.
I've searched the documentation but could not find anything. Is there a way to repair a Photos library?
I've already verified the disk and the volume. No errors could be found.

That did not help - BUT
Although i do not have my Wacom Cintiq UX21 anymore - The Mac had leftovers from an uninstalled driver.
As a got todays new driver from Wacom - it solved the problem.....!!??
I don use the Cintiq, but a new driver fixed the Illustrator problem !!

Recieved 404 error after removing "home" from page hierarchy

I am using JDeveloper 11.1.1.6.0 and I beleive it is WebCenter SP5.
I am encountering a 404 page when I run an application after I try removing the entry for "home" from the page hierarchy. I also receive the error even if I undo the change in the pages.xml and restore home. I get this in brand new projects as well by following these steps:
-Create a new WebCenter Portal Framework application
-Open up pages.xml
-Delete the "home" entry
-Save
-Ctrl+z to undo the deletion of the entry
-Save
-Run
-Recieve 404 after index.html attempts to have the redirect to its default "./faces/wcnav_defaultSelection"
I am assuming some other files are being modified but I cannot figure out what is going on. I also cannot find any information on how the application determines where to go with the "wcnav_defaultSelection" redirect. Is anyone able to assist with this?

May I suggest that you enable TRACE logging for oracle.webcenter.portalframework.sitestructure and see what the logs say?
Also, adding the home page back to page hierarchy (via drag-drop) does not throw the error. It's only when you perform an Undo that the error occurs.
On further analysis, on "Undo" the home page definition does not get back some of the attributes - the page_parent parameter and the permissions section.

Satellite L30-10Y: Checksum error after upgrading to 2Gb RAM

I have a Satellite L30-10Y ^ months ago I upraded the RAM to 1.5Gb by adding a 1Gb RAM card to the 512Mb card supplied this worked fine.
I also upraded my sons Hi-Grade lapto with exactly the same specification of RAM which also worked fine. So I decided to up grade my L30 10Y with another card of the same specification to bring it upto 2 Gb as specified by TOSHIBA.
I booted the computer to find the hay presto after the start screen The Following message appeared *"_The file is possibly corrupt.
The file header checksum does not match the computed checksum_"* The computer then froze and I turned it off.
Checks I made Tried both cards in both slots No change, 1 card in both slots (one slot empty) Works fine. Other card in both slots(works Fine) Sons Card in my computer both slots (works fine) All three cards and 512mb card in all configuration of both slots and cards(works fine). All three 1gb cards in all configerations of cards and slots back to error message and some time 1 long beep and 2 short ones.
Yes the cards were installed properly. Cannot alter anything to do with BIOS although this can be accssed. Cannot run from dvd drive although I can select it.
Went back to 1.5Gb and reinstalled all OS from Toshiba recovery disk tried all over again same results. Running windows vista home basic, Bios is the latest download. RAM is compatible. Sons cheep Hi-Grade accepts all RAM in all Configurations no bother OS windows XP.
Can anyone think of anything I have not tried or should I just go and by a hi-grade computer?

Thanks for your reply, 2 of these modules were bought 6 months ago from the same company at the same time (company Offtek) who do a computer scan and provide the modules specific to your computer, and even then I checked the specification of the modules against the upgrade that Toshiba who also scanned my computer on registration and the modules are DDR2 533MHz (PC2-4200) 200-PIN SODIMM . The Third module came from the same company with the same specification.
I am very sure that all three modules will be compatible to the computer, and the specifications does not require the modules are matched pairs like the old sd ram. So what we have is a computer that will run two completely differnt modules of different sizes made by different manufacturers possibly slightly different specs, but will not run two modules from the same manufacturer made at the same time with exactly the same spec.(Must be a break through of innovation for Toshiba!)
I think the beeps may have been a little misleading as these did not accord every time I started the computer over the many tests I did, I still have to look up what these codes signify. I tried looking in the Toshiba knowledge database but I think it's empty or they just don't have any knowledge complete waste of time or I don't know how to use it.
My next step its to contact Offtek and see what they suggest, Find out what the Header checksum is and what it is supposed to report and find out what the computed checksum is and why it does not match. One more thing I did notice that in the BIOS it did not report the full 2048mb it only reported 1984mb of RAM but I think this may be that video memory uses part of this. *_Unless someone out there knows something different_*

Satellite L675D: Blue Screen error after upgrading to Windows 8

I've recently upgraded my Toshiba laptop to Windows 8 and every time I use it, after 5-10 minutes, I get a blue screen page of error and the laptop restarts.
The problem is really annoying.
I've discovered that if I don't plug in the battery charger, the laptop works normally, but I'd like to solve the problem properly.
What should I do?

Windows 8 drivers for Satellite L675D dont exist on Toshiba EU driver page. The L675D series does not support Windows 8.
However, even if the drivers are not available and Windows 8 is not supported, it should not be a big problem to run this system on the Satellite L675D.
You said that you simply updated the Win 7 to Win 8.
Maybe you should try a clean installation of Windows 8?
I think its worth a try in case its an software problem.
By the way: I assume this kind of problem did not appear using Windows 7. Right?

Satellite A300 PSAGQE - Driver errors after uprgading to Win 7

I have "Toshiba Satellite A300 PSAGQE" 2 days ago I updated my Windows Vista to Windows 7.
Many Driver are ok and working without trouble but 3 drivers are makin trouble as I have noticed.
This are;
Toshiba Firmware Linkage Driver ACPI\TOS1901
Ricoh RL5C592 Memory Stick Bus Host Adapter
Ricoh RL5C843 SD/MMC Host Controller
my "FN" is not working and the LED lights are not going on!!!
I searched the whole internet for solutions and saw many people having the same trouble. There are problems but non solutions...
I hope I can fiend help for this problmes here.

To be honest for me it doesnt sound like problems because you need only new drivers for your notebook they are listed on the Toshiba page:

You need the card reader and Bluetooth driver I think.
Regarding the FN and illumination You should install Toshiba Value Added Package. ;)

Can you provide more details about your requirement? I’m not clear about the issue you come across.
From my experience, I would access the term store ,check if the hashtags and keywords term sets were empty,
and then I would check if the field "HashTags" was exist in your code.

Accessing ECP = 500 Unexpected Error, Event ID 4 logged. Error msg: 'TargetDeliveryDomain' already belongs to this DataTable.

Running E2013, CU6 on a Server 2012 Hyper-V VM. Was trying to complete the hybrid migration wizard. It kept failing at the point where it was trying to export the OAuth certificate (which I've since remedied.) Then all of a sudden I was getting 500 Unexpected
Error after keying in my credentials into ECP.
OWA works fine.
Already removed and rebuilt ECP virtual directories, ran lodctr /r, removed the Canary settings in adsiedit and recycled the application pools.
