Satellite M100-126 - Win 7 32bit indicates "only" 3GB of usable memory

Hi,
Here's the situation:
I have a Toshiba satellite M100-126 (PSMA1E - 0PV021FR) running Windows 7 32bit.
It originally had 2gigs of Ram, but after my brother's laptop broke down (motherboard failure) I took his 2x2gig ram and installed them in my laptop.
At first, the BIOS only detected 3gig, so I flashed the bios using the one recommended by Toshiba Download center, i.e. v 3.0 , direct link http://support.toshiba-tro.de/tools/eula/calleula.asp?ID=66238 (if it works). There is also a version 5.6, only for Windows Vista, but I did not use that one.
So now, the bios detects 4gigs, and so does Windows, but windows indicates "only" 3gigs of usable memory.
In Windows resource allocation, 1gig is "hardware reserved", so it's 3gig usable memory. If I replace one of the 2gig modules by a 1gig module, I get only 2mb of hardware reserved, and the 3 installed gigs of memory are usable...
Here are the questions, now:
I am aware of the memory limit for 32bit systems, and that I won't be able to use the full 4gigs anyway, but my brother got 3.5 gigs of usable memory on his 32bit system... Is it

Thanks for the answer, 3.2gigs then, must have understood the little bro wrong.. :-)
Yet, under Windows, in resource allocation, the memory used by the video card is indicated as similar whether I install 4 or 3 gigs of memory...
Oh well, not a big loss, when I find the time I'll run benchmark tests with both installs and see if there's a difference.
Any idea on whether I'd gain anything with Win 7 64bits or would it just be wasted on a 3y old system (Windows indicates it's 64bit compatible)
Thanks!

  • Satellite A100-750 PSAAR, 4GB RAM installed, 3GB RAM usable

    I've just upgraded the RAM of my Satellite A100-750 from 2x1GB to 2x2GB.
    The BIOS recognizes 4GB of RAM
    but then the BIOS output states "3GB system RAM passed".
    My Windows 7 Pro 64bit OS says that there are 4GB RAM, but only 3GB are used.
    How can I use all my 4GB RAM?
    It shouldn't be an OS issue but maybe a BIOS one.
    I've tried to update my BIOS (now System BIOS version 6.0),
    but with no success.
    Any suggestion?
    Thank you very much in advance,
    Carlo

    Dear Andrej,
    thank you for this link.
    It seems that my BIOS doesn't support the memory remapping feature,
    or at least I can't find it anywhere in the BIOS setup (any help?).
    At this point my question is if Toshiba will deliver in the near future
    a BIOS able to setup memory remapping for Satellite A100 series,
    or if it is possible to enable this feature using the BIOS of another series.
    Frankly it seems to me quite odd that Toshiba sells a laptop
    certified to support 4GB of RAM and 64bit mode instruction set
    but at the same time it doesn't provide a BIOS able to actually exploit 4GB of RAM.
    How can I setup memory remapping on my laptop?
    Thank you to everybody,
    Carlo

  • Satellite A200-21T: Windows 64bit recognize only 3GB instead of 4GB of RAM

    Hello!
    I have a A200 21 T with windows 7 (ultimate *64) install.
    My problem is that the windows only takes 3Gb!!! How "can i use" all of the ram?

    Hi,
    Please, read here:
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB82022E0000R01.htm
    As addition:
    Go Start-Control Panel-System security -Administrative tools- System configuration-Boot - advanced options
    make sure that maximum Memory option is not checked. If it's checked, uncheck, press Apply, Ok and restart.

  • X200s Win7 64Bit 4GB only 3GB usable

    Hi,
    how do i activate the memory remap functionality in the BIOS of the X200s. I guess there is a bios extension for that, because I can´t find it.
    I am on Win7 64Bit 4GB RAM installed and only 3GB are usable. (which is awful)
    Cheers,
    André

    you can't control memory remapping through the bios, it is all controlled by the software AFAIK.

  • Qosmio G30 (PQG32L) - Can only use 3.25GB memory on Windows 7 64bit

    My Qosmio G30 (PQG32L) found 4GB of memory but only 3.25GB usable memory. I upgrade to Windows 7 64 bit but it not help.
    BIOS reports 4GB RAM.
    OS Windows 7 64 bit
    Anyone can enable Qosmio G30 usable memory to 4GB?

    Hmm I doubt that Toshiba would update the BIOS on all old models with Chipsets that are limited to 3.2GB, especially considering that only 750MB is lost.
    I guess if the laptop supported 8GB max RAM, Toshiba would modify the BIOS to support 64bit OS's.

  • Satellite Pro A200 - Shows only 3GB instead 4GB RAM

    Hi,
    2 years ago I got a Satellite Pro A200 as a business notebook and it runs with XP SP2, later with SP3. With 2 GB it shows 2 GB of memory in Windows - and I know it has a Radeon 7500 with 256MB of individual graphic memory, and it has no shared memory.
    I upgraded it to 4 GB, but Windows shows exactly 3 GB. BIOS shows 4 GB and the ATI system monitor shows 4 GB. I know that 4 GB is not possible in XP 32 bit, only on Windows 2003 R2 32 bit or Vista - but on desktop systems I have seen values between 3.3 and 3.7 GB.
    So where is the memory? It looks like a bug - the memory chips have both 2 GB I have verified this. Because it is a company notebook I can't just upgrade to XP 64 bit :-(
    In the BIOS are no options - first I thought it's the graphic card, but mine has independant graphics with own memory so the computer comes up with 2048 MB or 4096 after the upgrade.
    Shared memory would show about 1900 MB of RAM to the OS like my private EEEpc.

    First of all 32bit OS (no matter if its XP, Win 2003 R2, Vista or Win 7) will not recognize 4GB RAM but only 3.2GB (and not 3.7GB)
    I have no idea where you looked for available RAM but you should run DXDIAG in RUN.
    Then you should get some details and also the available RAM.
    Secondly the graphic card supports Local cache (256MB) and HyperMemory.
    HyperMemory of the graphic card depends on the available main RAM memory.
    For example the unit supports 1024MB RAM (1GB) then the hyper memory would be 256MB this part of RAM would be shared with graphic card!
    This is the reason why the only 3GB are shown...

  • "Windows 7" on Satellite M100-222 - full discussion

    Good day everyone! This post about "Windows 7" on "Toshiba" "Satellite" M100-222.
    Maybe, this method (and like some drivers & utilities) will be successfully apply for others "Satellite" M100 models. Because some models very similar technically. For example, "Satellite" M100-221 & ect. I want to share it & discuss about. Because reliable information and practical guide about it to the Internet is virtually absent... or little information is not fully. I'm having some issues. With these issues I would like to share. Maybe, we will find correct solution together. Please, join... So...
    First, update BIOS! This is necessary for "Windows 7" If your BIOS version 3.00, update it - Toshiba Satellite M100 BIOS update v5.60;
    Before install "Windows 7"... I updated my BIOS (v3.00) to v5.60 - Toshiba Satellite M100 BIOS update v5.60
    I did it through "Windows" XP Pro x32... Simply executable file, run it & follow steps.
    Note:
    Two years ago I posted question here (forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com) about my RTC. Clock in BIOS (I forget BIOS version. Original BIOS, I bought my laptop & didn't update BIOS then) was frozen. Sometimes the time indicators worked, sometimes not. Very short time. But the indicators also stood hours. Time goes in system. In BIOS frozen - 13:13:13, for example. Then I update BIOS - v3.00, hopefully that my RTC will work again. Nothing... Two yeras I worked with frozen RTC. Everyday I fixed time in BIOS manually. Seconds are frozen... Sometimes time working... But really time in BIOS was frozen. I knew that is not RTC battery problem. Physycally battery is normal. I knew this is BIOS problem. Because tests revealed it - physycally battery is normal. BIOS no error messages. Such as RTC problem... Some gave advice on the forum, and I'm not a newbie... Nothing... BIOS time was frozen...
    Thinking about upgrading BIOS when faced with... "Toshiba" Value added package v1.2.40 (Win7 x32)... During install I receive error message - 0x8146045B
    Tried install different versions of "Toshiba" Value added package. Same error... Guessed to update BIOS! Among the drivers & utilities in site "Toshiba" BIOS for "Windows 7" propose v3.00 for Satellite M100 (PSMA1E). But BIOS v5.60 shown only for "Windows" "Vista". Same platform, same kernel with "Windows 7" (theoretically)... Elementary logical approach! I downloaded & update BIOS - v5.60! Great! BIOS was successfully updated... Maybe, "Toshiba" Value added package will install correctly. I hope. I wait few seconds after shut down the system. I turn on my laptop & press F2 - looked BIOS... Unbelievable... First I saw - seconds in my BIOS clock runs again!!! Each of us felt a sense of joy! But after two years ... BIOS time worked again! So this is unbelievable! But don't be naive. There are certainly a scientific explanation. I mean BIOS update can help solve similar problems. But everything should be studied in detail! After BIOS update I installed "Toshiba" Value added package v1.2.40 (Win7 x32)
    Then I found & download drivers & utilities. I checked it with compatibility in "Windows 7". For both platforms of "Windows 7" - x32 & x64... I'll find some utilities - "Toshiba" Touch & launch, "Toshiba" Virtual sound, DVD-RAM software, Acoustic silencer, also "ATI" Catalyst control center... These are open issue for me. But no problem, this is will easy...
    Then I install "Windows 7" x64 Ultimate (I was successfully installed "Windows 7" x32 & drivers, utilities before).
    Consistently install following drivers:
    Intel(R) Chipset device software v9.2.0.1021 (Win7 x32 & x64);
    ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 driver (Win7 x32) or for (Win7 x64) - on requirement (Download it from - http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Home.aspx & extract to folder using any archivators. Then update Standard VGA drivers from this folder);
    Realtek High Definition Audio Codecs vR2.57 (Win7 x32 & x64);
    ALPS Electric Pointing device driver v7.x5.303.117 (Win7 x32 & x64);
    Intel(R) PROSetWireless drivers v13.4.0.139 (Win7 x32) or for (Win7 x64) - on requirement;
    Texas Instruments Integrated flash media controller driver v2.0.0.8 (Win7 x32 & x64);
    Toshiba Bluetooth stack v8.00.02 (Win7 x32) or for (Win7 x64) - on requirement;
    Toshiba Registry patch for Storage config v1.0 (Win7 x32 & x64);
    Toshiba Registry patch for Win7 devices & printers v1.2 (Win7 x32 & x64);
    Toshiba SD utilities v1.8.1.8 (Win7 x32 & x64);
    Toshiba Software modem v2.2.97 (SM2297ALD05) (Win7 x32) or Toshiba Software modem v2.2.97 (SM2297ALS05) (Win7 x64) - on requirement;
    Toshiba Utility support driver v1.0.25.5C (Win7 x32 & x64);
    Toshiba Value added package v1.2.40 (Win7 x32) or for (Win7 x64) - on requirement;
    Toshiba Flash cards support utility v1.63.0.4C (Win7 x32 & x64);
    Toshiba Assist v4.01.00 (Win7 x32 & x64);
    Toshiba TEMPRO v3.3.4 (Win7 x32 & x64);
    Toshiba ConfigFree v8.0.23 (Win7 x32 & x64);
    Intel(R) PROSetWireless software (Win7 x32) or for (Win7 x64) - on requirement;
    Toshiba Software modem region select utility v2.3.0.13 (Win 7 x32 & x64);
    Toshiba Supervisor password utility v3.0.1.0 (Win7 x32 & x64);
    Toshiba Hardware setup utility v1.63.0.32C (Win7 x32 & x64).
    During install & updates folllow system restart!
    And please, help for next:
    Everything worked fine! But yesterday I run "Toshiba" Hardware setup... and receive runtime error message! I know that "Toshiba" HW must be compatibility with BIOS! Please tell, anybody know which version "Toshiba" HW compatibility with "Toshiba" "Satellite" M100-222? Or "Satellite" M100 models?
    And... problems beetwen Toshiba Value added package & Toshiba Flash cards support utility! Flash cards don't run... I uninstall both & reinstall again... Same situation... Few days ago worked fine... But not now... I don't remember, maybe change configurations in Flash cards settings... Don't remember... Help solve these problems. It is very important!
    For example I looked Satellite A500 notebook - Toshiba Value added package v1.2.26.64 (Win7 x64) & Toshiba Flash cards support utility v1.63.0.4C (Win x64) complect! Maybe, Toshiba Value added package v1.2.40 (Win7 x64) incompatibility with Toshiba Flash cards support utility v1.63.0.4C (Win x64)? Versions, I think...
    Anybody have information about these utilities for "Windows 7" platform:
    "Toshiba" Touch & launch;
    "Toshiba" Virtual sound;
    DVD-RAM software;
    Acoustic silencer.
    and "ATI" Catalyst control center... For full control "ATI" Mobility Radeon X1400 graphic adapter under "Windows 7". I can update only graphic adapter drivers. But don't know which version is compatibility with "ATI" Mobility Radeon X1400 graphic adapter under "Windows 7".
    Thanks! I have very little time... Much to do! I will try to fill the drivers on file sharing or torrent. But for this I need to collect all the drivers and utilities. I must check them out. Week of rest, I set to work and share with you what I could.
    Thanks again!

    Dear Keany! Thanks you Im glad...
    I have very little time Only this reason prevents me periodically to public any information. I wrote this post only for Toshiba Satellite M100-222. Maybe someone who need practice information about it will find & will use this practice. Because any extended information about Windows 7 on this model is very limited on Web. If youre into computer hardware you must know that theoretically requirement for each operating system! I have extensive experience in the certified computers & network technologies. But some things I prefer to share with users We learn together :-) First time my Toshiba Satellite M100-222 worked perfectly with 1 GB RAM (512 MB x 512 MB) under Windows 7 x32. Im working under Windows 7 x64 now. Also with 1 GB RAM (512 MB x 512 MB) - 533 MHz. Fine! But not great :-) Im working with multimedia converters, Microsoft Office 2010 Simply & comfortable also play FIFA 2011! You can work under Windows 7 x64 with 1 GB of RAM. But you must configure system. I dont recommend it! So good upgrade RAM to maximum capacity for my model. Ill upgrade my RAM to 4GB (2 GB x 2 GB) 667 MHz So My system rating is 3.9 now
    I found the solution for some programs
    I think that:
    Toshiba Touch & launch theoretically old for Windows 7 also for Windows Vista. ALPS Electric Pointing device software is simply & excellent for use;
    Multimedia software such as Windows Media 12, CyberLink PowerDVD 10 includes SRS WOW effects. WinAMP & Foobar have many plugins for sound enhancement. I think that Toshiba Virtual sound very scanty than these programs with integrated sound enhanced modules. Also Realtek High Definition Audio Codecs have rich sound configure tools. For undemanding users :-) But is also enough for home & office use. This problem is solved;
    Toshiba Disc creator v2.1.0.4 (Win7 x32) or (x64), I use this version have DVD-RAM utility Very easy for use friendly interface Fixed;
    Acoustic silencer I will find but some applications are include utilities for optical drive speed control Acoustic silences very simply & easy for use And not statistic dragon :-);
    The only problem is ATI CCC Still I didnt found compatibility software version. But VGA drivers working normal. No problem The only advantage ATI CCC - this software give full control VGA (ATI Mobility Radeon X1400). ATI Stream technology and etc
    Toshiba HW setup must compatibility with BIOS! I have some test results when Toshiba HW setup gives failure But I think that Ill find solution Ok, also Ill try install version for Windows Vista But we must know! Not all drivers & softwares for Windows Vista works correctly under Windows 7. Maybe they will work, but after updates will give error My own practice with some softwares
    Toshiba Satellite M100-222 is excellent model Conception - all in one! And so I love my notebook! Thanks to you, Keany!
    Long time I tried found I want that other user simply download & install drivers & utilities Ok and they will save time :-) We must help each other :-)
    If possible, help me about ATI CCC VGA (ATI Mobility Radeon X1400) Good luck!

  • Screen does not turn on after start up, but after standby on Satellite M100

    Hi,
    I have quite some experience with computers and laptops, but this problem exhausted all my knowledge.
    My girlfriend has a Toshiba Satellite M100, PSMA1E. It runs Windows XP, currently on SP3.
    The laptop always had shutdown/stand bye issues. It would go on stand bye and the screen would not come back. She usually would turn it off manually (holding the power button) and turn it on again.
    Same thing happened last week, but with me. I turned it off holding the power button but when I turned it back on the screen was completely black. After a few attempts I realized that everything was working; I could hear XP booting and the usual sound files but there was no way I could get the screen working.
    The strangest thing is that the CMOS/BIOS screen, the first one with the Toshiba logo, also does not show up. If it was a OS problem I thought I would be able to access the BIOS at least, but that doesn't work. Fn+F5 also doesn't work.
    Then something even stranger happened. I was turning it on and off with keyboard shortcuts and I realized that if I put it on stand bye using shortcuts and then turn it back on the screen turns on perfectly fine (there is some resolution adjustment cause icons are out of place, but it works perfectly well).
    From that on I tried everything I know. BIOS update, all Windows XP updates, all Toshiba QuickFix, cleaning the registry with different tools, uninstalling and reinstalling the video driver (ATI Radeon X1400), HotKeys utility, Power Saver Utility, Toshiba Hardware Tools, looking at start up programs, services, everything I could possibly think off.
    What really puzzles me is that the Toshiba start up screen won't show up. I can't access the BIOS, but I tried restoring BIOS standard values through Toshiba Hardware Tools. It didn't work. I don't even know if reinstalling XP will work because every time I turn it on it's all black and I need to do the stand bye/turn back on trick.
    When I plugged it on a external monitor I could see the whole start up process (BIOS initial screen and Windows). I then tried to access the display configuration of the video driver but it would only show the external monitor. It would only detect the laptop screen after a stand bye/turn back on, and then it worked perfectly well: two simultaneous screens, extended screen, everything. Ah, changing the BIOS from Auto-Select to LCD+external monitor also does not work.
    I'm really puzzled here and I can't figure this one out. I really don't think it's a hardware issue, because the screen works 100% after the stand bye. I guess XP is making something during shut down that completely 'shuts down' my screen, even after boot, and then I can only turn it on with the stand bye thing.
    Any help would be really appreciated!
    Best,

    Hi mate,
    that whole story sounds really weirdo since after reading all this and knowing that youve tried almost everything doesnt makes it better.. :/
    Usually I would say: update your BIOS, but you already updated everything. This problem could be BIOS related since the initialization of the hardware after a standby is controlled by the chipset trough the BIOS.
    I guess it could also be something with the background light of the LCD screen (failed initialization after waking up), you can check this by reproducing the situation with the black screen and holding some light near the screen. If you can see some schemes on the screen (something like desktop, etc..) then it could be the background lighting. In such case try to reinstall the operating system and update all installed drivers to the newest version (yes I know, sounds like more pain).
    Otherwise, click [HERE|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/generic_content.jsp?service=EU&ID=ASP_SUPPORT], find the nearest authorized service partner in your country, contact them and ask them for a hardwarecheckup. Maybe its really a hardware related issue..
    Greets and good luck

  • Blue screen of Death on Satellite M100

    Hi
    I have Satellite M100, we were having problems with the Blue screen of death occasionally, and then it seemed to get fairly consistent and the only way to ensure that the system didn't crash was to boot it in safe mode.
    The sound had also stopped working. Decided to restore the system to factory settings so used the disc supplied and all went well till the system booted into windows allows you to go through the setup then blue screen again. The sound seems to have returned although it is a bit crackly.
    So not sure whether this is the problem or not. Crashes Fatal system error and also driver_irql_not_less_or_equal.
    Now can't boot into safe mode as windows setup hasn't finished....
    Any ideas anyone?
    Cheers
    Simon

    Hi
    Yeah that;s what I am frightened of, tried several times no joy tried a normal xp pro disk as well as thought that might not have the right drivers and it might work but same there so guess it's a trip to the Toshiba hospital..... problem is guess everything is on the motherboard so by the time you have paid for a service call and motherboard you still have a 3 year old computer the figures don't add up and a new one would be the better option.....
    Cheers

  • Re: Satellite M100-221: screen goes black moving the display

    Hi,
    I have a problem with the lcd display on toshiba satellite M100-221.
    When I move the display the screen goes black.
    The display works properly only when the angle is close to 90 degrees.

    Hi buddy,
    Im not a technician but I agree with the user above. For me it sounds like a hardware problem and you should go to an authorized service provider. The technicians can check your notebook and exchange faulty notebook parts.
    You can search on the Toshiba website for nearest ASP. ;)

  • Image stretched on Samsung 16:9LCD TV connected to Satellite M100

    Hi there,
    I'm struggling to work out why my 40" lcd will only show a stretched image when I connect my Satellite M100 via the vga output. Two weeks ago I was watching movies in the correct resolution and aspect ratio using the tv as an extended desktop. Now for some reason the image is a stretched 16:10. All of the drivers are up to date and are functioning.
    I have even updated the firmware on the tv. This problem started when I recovered the M100 to an out of the box state using the recovery cd.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Ross.

    I have tried to change as many settings as I could find with no luck. Connecting the s-video cable gives me the same problem.
    If I watch the tv in 4:3 mode the picture looks fine.
    Samsung are a bunch of useless w##kers and keep giving me auto responses.
    Any help or advice would be great.

  • Satellite M100 - I can't analyse the CPU temperature

    I'm an owner of Toshiba Satellite M100 series (Core Duo T2300, X1400, etc.). The problem is that I can't analyse the CPU temperature changes in such popular application like Everest or Notebook Hardware Control. Also any other software provided by Toshiba and already installed on my HDD doesn't include some CPU diagnostics including the temperature changes!
    The only software which seems to be working is the HWiNFO32 so there is some thermal sensor inside which reads this temperature of Centrino Duo processor, but this software is not very user-friendly :(
    There is a request for Toshiba to do something with this... I've upgraded BIOS in my model to a version 1.70 but it didn't change anything I could easily notice (or is there any?) :(

    Hi
    Like Mike said the BIOS update has nothing to do with the CPU temperature monitoring.
    The fact is that Toshiba doesnt support any 3rd party applications.
    However, all the temperature programs are not precise and dont get exactly information about the temperature. Only the programs with a physical temperature sensor will give you a exactly temperature.
    I dont understand why its so important for you to know the temperature. The Toshiba notebooks support an overheating protection and if the temperature increases to the critical level so the unit shuts down automatically.

  • Installing Windows 7 on the Satellite M100

    I have the Satellite M100-JG2 (PSMA0C-JG200E). I would like to install Windows 7. The Toshiba does not list the M100 as compatible. The Microsoft Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor does point to some issues, but I do not know how easy it is to overcome them.
    I read on another forum that the touchpad didn't work after the upgrade but this was solved by installing a Synaptics driver. Otherwise, I'm seeing people posting the upgrade was successful with no other info. Can anyone tell me if they have experienced success or not in attempting this upgrade, any issues they've run in to and how they've resolved them?
    The Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor provides the following information (I've delete personal programs):
    All systems pass (I only have 1GB RAM though, so not sure if this is too little, even though it passed)
    All devices pass
    Programs with issues:
    TOSHIBA ConfigFree version 5.90.05 (don't know if I even need this)
    TOSHIBA Hardware Setup version 1.39.0.4C
    TOSHIBA Supervisor Password version 1.39.0.5C
    TOSHIBA Alps Pointing-device Driver version 6.0.2.186 (is this touchpad)
    Client and Host Security Platform version 104.0.14.2
    Any help or advice would be welcomed before I attempt this upgrade.
    Thanks!

    Okay, same Rory, different signon, as I had a password recovery issue. Alex, thanks for your very helpful response.
    Here are my two major concerns:
    1) Toshiba does not list the M100 compatible for a reason, but it does list the M300 and M500 as compatible. I do not know why the M100 is not listed.
    2) The big issue I've seen in my internet search with the M100 is that the touchpad does not work after installing Windows 7. I was this resolved by one user by installing a Synaptics driver, but that is the only thing I've been able to find on the net about this.
    Does anyone have any advice or experience about installing Windows 7 in the Satellite M100. I would have to wipe my only laptop, upgrade and find out I've hit a wall and have to try to go about to XP.
    Any thoughts or advice? Thanks!

  • Cannot install LAN driver on Satellite M100-221

    I reinstalled OS on my Satellite M100 - 221 PSMA0E.
    IT previously used Windows XP Home Edition, and now I installed Windows XP Professional SP2. I have an error in my DEVICE MANAGER with ethernet controller, mass storage controller,SM bus controller. But let's stick to ETHERNET CONTROLLER.
    I download the genuine LAN driver from Toshiba official website, and every time I'm trying to install it I get the message "The specified location does not contain information about your hardware".
    In NETWORK UPADATE wizard I don't even have option to choose Realtek driver, only Intel and some others. My network adapter worked great on preinstalled XP Home edition. What am I suppose to do? Please HELP!!!

    Hi,
    I guess you should try the intel drivers instead of the realtek drivers because your machine was shipped with an Intel LAN chipset.
    So, please visit the intel website (www.intel.com) and download the latest LAN drivers from their homepage.
    It should work and you should have soon a working ethernet connection.
    Regards
