Satellite P10: blank screen

I have just replaced my hdd and used recovery disks.
All semed to install fine but when setting up Windows XP closed then screen went blank and now will not work at all?
HELP ANYONE???

Hi
What happens when you press the power button?
Can you see if some LEDs are ON?
Is it possible to access the BIOS?
Additionally you could disconnect the notebook from AC adaptor and could remove the battery for about 30min.
After this short period of time connect both parts and try to power up the notebook
Check it!

After login, get blank screen mouse but nothing else.
Can run Explorer.exe manually via Task manager to get going but some apps such as Acrobat and Windows Mail don't work.
I've searched online and tried all sorts of the suggested fixes to no avail.
    Any suggestions gratefully received!

I don't know what is wrong there but you can try to shut down Win8 completely and check repair options. Try with system restore and roll back OS few days back. Maybe this will help.

  • Satellite P10: Black screen appears after 5min

Hi my name is colin, I have a Toshiba P10 laptop and I want to change my power settings ie.
My lap top blanks out after five mins if I do not use mouse but can't change settings because the panal is greyed out.
I use it for my karaoke but if a song is more than five min long blank screen. Tapping mouse pad restores it.
Can somebody please tell me what to do.
    Thanks colin.

    Hi Colin,
Sorry to hear that you still have the problem. My only suggestion now is that the Toshiba Power Management utility is not propwerly installed.
I presume that the system was re-installed after the new MB and HDD were fitted. Was this done from the recovery CDs or was it a Microsoft install CD ?
I would suggest removing the Toshiba Power Management utility from your notebook and then re-installing it (you can download it from the Toshiba web-site). Please make sure that you use the correct version (there are two) for your particular P10.

  • Satellite L450D - blank screen at start-up

    Hi
my laptop shows a blank screen totally black on start up the hard drive light is not flashing but I can hear the fan.
    Suggestions welcomed

Sounds like a serious hardware problem.
You can check if the issue is related to the display or graphic chip.
Connect external monitor and check if something would be visible on the 2nd monitor.
In case nothing would be visible on the external monitor, your graphic chip (maybe motherboard) is affected

  • Satellite P300 - blank screen since turned on, but sometimes working fine

    Helo,
    I have a Toshiba Satellite P300-1F0.
The display is blank when I turn it on, even on the boot up screen, and I cant hear the startup windows sounds.
Although if I turn it on and off, it will work after some tries, sometimes it works on the first try, some others I have to turn it on and off like 20 times before he finaly starts working. When it turns on it works perfectly.
    I tried:
pressing the power button for 1 min while charger and battery out,
    Checking manually the ram.
reinstalling and updating monitor and graphics card drivers.
shaking the lid to check if there is a cable broken
but none of these actions worked
I also noticed that the computer works with a external monitor (TV) connected via hdmi.
If i turn the laptop on, the screen is blank, and no windows sounds played, and after some minutes I plug in the hdmi cable, the Tv shows that windows was on, and sounds start to work from there.
While connected to the TV, I try to turn the display on by pressing (windws key+P) but it doesnt work.
In Screen resolution menu, windows cant detect the display, only the TV
Can anyone help me? what can be thr source of the problem?
    Any soluction?
    Thank you for your Time,
    Adriano

  • Satellite P10: black screen - only LEDs light

My laptop has given me some problems:
    Problem 1 = doesn't recognise ANY blank dvds so i can't burn
Remedy - bought an external drive
Problem 2 = usb ports stop working even though the troubleshoot says thier all fine, searched numerous boards & followed various procedures but none works
Remedy - only able to buy & use firewire compatible devices
Problem 3 = My damn lighting doesn't work!
When i start up my leds are lit up & the fans running but my screen is pitch black!
If i get really really close to my screen i can just about makeout my screen name, sign-in, (hear the windows xp intro noise) & just about makeout the icons on my desktop.
I have searched the forum but found knowone with this problem or a remedy for it.
Are thier any techies hear that can offer any advice?
    It would be much appreciated!

Its very sad to hear that
Problem 3 seems to be an Fl-inverter or display malfunction.
Did you try to connect the external monitor to the notebook?
Check if something will appear on second monitor and use the FN+F5 option for switching between the displays devices.
Problem 2; something like that could happens because the external USB devices were not safely disconnected. In such case you should remove the USB ports from the device manager. After the new notebook rebooting the OS will recognize the ports automatically. Mostly such procedure should helps.
Problem 1; this could be a calibration error. Every time the lens must be calibrate to read or write the medias. If the lens cannot calibrates the drive will be not able to handle the CD or DVD.

  • Satellite C660 - Blank screen - No output - External monitor OK

I recently bought a C660 from ebay as a non-working repair project, listed as having no output to the LED screen but working ok on an external monitor.
After stripping it down, I found that the 40 pin connector to the LED panel had 3 damaged pins on the left side, so assuming that was the issue, I got another cable and rebuilt it. However, still no output to the LED panel, but all working fine on an external monitor.
As I have a spare new panel in stock, the next move was to replace the LED panel - still no output, except to the external monitor.
I have checked the setting for the video output (Fn+F5) and it is no different on any setting.
I have seen a couple of threads on here where people are having issues with no video output after a BIOS update (however I do not know if this has been done or not in this case).
Does anyone have any ideas as to what else I could check for to see what the problem might be?
    Any help greatly appreciated.

    >I have seen a couple of threads on here where people are having issues with no video output after a BIOS update (however I do not know if this has been done or not in this case).
If BIOS update fails, the unit would not power up and this results in black screen but this has nothing to do with your issue. The external monitor works properly so BIOS is OK.
Your issue is related to faulty internal display or the connection between the display and motherboard.
    Both should be checked!

  • HELP with Satellite Series - P305-S8837; displaying blank screen with cursor

Help! I have a the P305-S8837 laptop in the Toshiba Satellite Series. I have had the laptop for several months now and it's been working fine until now. I was using it this morning (on the internet) and it started freezing up and so I hit Crtl + Alt + delete and selected the option to restart. It restarted and asked which mode I wanted to start it up in (safe mode, safe mode w/networking, etc.) and I selected the normal option. It started out fine - little windows logo came on with the sound and then went into the Welcome Windows Home Vista premium page (that's like bluish greenish) and then afterwards the screen just goes blank with the exception of the mouse cursor. I let it sit for about an hour and there was no change. I have tried pressing the Crtl + Alt + delete and that has had NO affect. So i manually turned it off and then back on using the power button and tried starting it up in Safe mode w/networking and then just safe mode - both are able to get to the welcome screen but after that it's just a blank screen with cursor and it says safe mode and stuff on the border. Crtl + Alt + delete does not work in the safe mode w/networking but in just the regular safe mode it will go to that same screen that is the welcome and ask if I want to lock the computer, change users, start task manager or restart / shut down. I have selected the restart option and nothing happens and then the Crtl + Alt + delete option no longer works. I have tried manually starting the laptop with the battery unattached and just using the AC Adapter and that has had no impact. I have tried just using the laptop's battery only with no AC Adapter and that has had no impact.
As you can see, I am in desperate need of some assistance! Please tell me what to do!
    Thanks

Turn the computer on and immediately press and hold the F8 key.
On the Advanced Boot Options menu, choose Repair Your Computer.
When you reach the System Recovery Options menu, choose Startup Repair.
If that doesn't do the trick, go back to the System Recovery Options menu and do a System Restore.
If that doesn't fix things either, go back to the System Recovery Options menu, choose Command Prompt, and follow the directions here

  • Blank screen after display driver update Satellite Pro P200

I installed the latest ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600 display driver (8.432, from the Toshiba site via Tempo) on my Satellite Pro P200 yesterday. On rebooting everything looks fine as far as the Windows Vista Business "Please wait ..." screen, but instead of displaying the login page I get a blank screen (with a mouse cursor that moves around as normal). All I can do at this point is power off, and I've run out of ideas on how to get any further.
    Things I've tried:
    # booting into safe mode, low-resolution video or last known good configuration all result in the same blank screen.
    # connecting to the system using remote desktop (to disable the driver) isn't possible because the system hasn't loaded the network drivers yet.
    # I can't revert to a restore point because Vista can't find any (I made a manual one after installing windows updates on a couple of days ago).
I can run a command prompt from the system recovery options and would prefer to use that to disable the driver +if+ I knew how before resorting to the more drastic options.
A web search (http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ati+catalyst+vista+blank+screen&hl=en&sa= N) reveals that this has happened on a wide range of laptops with
previous releases of the driver, but none of the links I've looked at give a solution that's available to me.

No joy with an external screen so I bit the bullet and reinstalled from the product recovery disk. I tried expert mode to retain the data partition but that failed twice, so I had to restore it from the previous day's backup after doing a full reinstall. Two consolations, though.
    # It allowed me to increase the size of the data partition.
    # The display driver update worked fine on the fresh install.
Needless to say I've since found [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927525] which describes how you can disable a problem device driver (atikmdag in my case) from the system recovery command prompt :-(
Hopefully the instructions in there will help anybody who gets caught with similar problems.

  • Satellite A105-S4164 - won't start only blank screen

    Hi all,
I have a Toshiba Satellite A105-S4164 laptop that won't start.
I thought that perhaps there is a problem with the battery. I took the battery out and then hooked up the laptop to the electrical outlet, made no difference. The blue lights in front the laptop, come on, but I don't hear any noise from the mother board or the fan. The laptop is purchased in July of 2006 and it is out of warranty.
All I see is the blank screen.
My guess is that the mother board must be replaced. I also had kept up with Symantic Anti virus and also windows XP upgrades prior to April 1, 2009.
    Thank you for your feedback.
    Seyed

Can you see a picture on an external monitor?
Well I think in this case the notebook should be checked by notebook technician. You should contact an ASP and ask for help. This would be the best way because the technician can make sure what parts are faulty.

Satellite A85-s107 blank screen on boot up using battery power
When I boot up A85-s107 in battery power, it is getting booted up in the background, but my screen is blank.
After that if I connect it to AC power and switch off/on the laptop power button, the display comes back to life.
There is no problem when I boot up when connected to AC power.
Battery is fully charged and computer will run off battery if I remove AC after boootup
    Any suggestions?
    Ps:
also notice that when I remove AC and then reconnect I have to start the computer twice as it doesnt boot the 1st time?

    hi nick34_99,
sounds to me like a bad charging electronic...
i got this issue on my sat3000 too, but only when battery is not fully charged...
start the unit with a dos-disc (freedos has an cd image) and let the battery run "dry"...
after that boot without battery (ac-adapter connected of course) and log on.
after that shut down insert battery and try with batt only....
this trick has done magic on my machine...

  • Satellite A300-1LT won't boot up - blank screen & no HDD activity

I had a problem, touch pad won't work.
I found on internet solution to shut down computer, take out battery, wait a little bit, and start again.
That is when my problems start.
When I placed battery back on, i turned on the laptop.
Blank screen (nothing happens), led indicators are on (except for hdd), cd drive tries to read but nothing happens, and the fan is on.
I tried everything that I could find (wait for 30 min, take battery out, start without battery, etc...) but no luck.
My lap top is Satellite A300-1lt, and I had it for 2 months.
I don't want to take it to service, unless it is really necessary, because i really need it now, I can't wait for weeks until it is returned.
Can please somebody help me out, Im desperate....
    Thanks in advantage...

Connect your notebook (with battery) to the AC power supply and leave it an hour and try to start your notebook again. If notebook starts again leave it running until the battery will be full charged again.
I hope it will work properly again. I have had similar problem with my Satellite A300-1LI and I have do this. Now notebook runs perfectly with and without AC adapter.

  • Satellite A210 PSAFGC - Bios update to get rid of blank screen issue

I also have the blank screen problem and I would like to update my bios from the 1.30 version it came with.
The problem I have is that I have a model A210 part number PSAFGC.
The support bulletin 98082422 for the Bios update doesn't mention my part number exactly and I can't find anything for my model.
The 2 updates are to 1.70 and 1.90. I have read the text from both of these and they seem quite different.
Not sure what to do. Here is the bulletin info.
    Resolution:
Update the computer's BIOS to fix this problem, by clicking the appropriate link for your computer model from the following list.
    - Satellite A210 / A215, Part No. PSAFGU: BIOS version 1.70
    - Satellite A210 / A215, Part No. PSAEGU and PSAELU: BIOS version 1.90
    - Satellite Pro A210 / A215, Part No. PSAFHU: BIOS version 1.70
    - Satellite P200D / P205D, Part No. PSPBLU and PSPBQU: BIOS version 1.40
he computer's Part No. is printed on a label on the underside of the case.
    Any help??

    Hi
The Satellite *A210 PSAFGC* series seems to be a Toshiba *Canadian* series and I would recommend checking the Toshiba Canadian driver page if you want download the compatible BIOS for your notebook.

  • Satellite L500 - blank blue screen after login to Win 7

    Hi
I have this laptop and i can start up the laptop and it loads fine to the login page i then can login but when the screens opens after login it appears as a blank blue screen with the document folder open i have no background picture and no startup menu nothing else except the document folder.
From there i can access my files etc and anything else internet etc everything but i dont know how to get the screen back to normal.
If i go on background display i can see the image that should be on the background and change it but nothing happens on the full screen.
I have no restore point as yet as new laptop for xmas, i do have backup discs but think its just something to do with the display.
If go into files and folders it shows me the icons on the desktop but all i see is this blank screen.
Any ideas please, if not would restore files work or full back up disc
Thanks very much for any help

    Hi
    Check this:
Click right on the desktop and choose Personalize.
There you should check the area: Basis design and design with high contrast
    Choose Windows 7 basic.
    Then reboot the unit.
Usually this should help to get the Windows 7 common design and desktop settings.
But if this will not help then you could use an fast solution which would be a usage of the recovery disk of HDD recovery option.
This would format the HDD and would reinstall everything again

  • Blank screen & no booting after running BIOS update on Satellite A200-1AE

Here is my problem with my A200-1AE (PSAECE) Notebook:
I downloaded the latest BIOS update from the Toshiba download drivers library to install Win XP since finally the drivers are realized. (Note the update clearly stated to run ONLY if you want to install XP on you NB).
So I unzipped the file and after hitting the .exe file it started updating the BIOS on its own without me giving the liberty to do so. Half way the N/B froze for about 20 minutes and as I didnt know what else to do so I reset it.
Result? The NB does NOT boot. I press the power button, the Hard Drive icon flashes 2-3 times as well as the DVD drive, I get a blank screen and the power cord & power button icons constantly on. I removed the battery and the power cord for 48 hours hoping it will reset the BIOS on its own to no avail.
The BIOS battery is under the touchpad which means I have to disassemble the whole laptop and I am not ready to do so. I dont know if on the motherboard there are BIOS reset jumpers and I need someones help as to what I should do. I am starting to think that things where MUCH easier back to when I just had a desktop PC.
THERE must be something I can do other that taking it to the service center and pay half the value of the laptop in repairs.... PLS HELP Im desperate....

    Hi there,
first of all: a notebook is not a desktop and such mobile computer does not have jumpers like a deskop computer. They surely have something to delete the BIOS but I am not so sure IF resetting the BIOS could help you.
I guess you will have to send your machine to a service center for repair because in such cases you will have no other option. Do you have still warranty on this machine?
