Satellite X200-252 - Toshiba hardware utility - cant launch under Win7

I have installed HW utility, I can see its icon in Toshiba Assist but it doesnt launch. I see in task manager process "control.exe" appears for a sec. I tried launch it as admin, tried with vista compatibility but no luck. Anybody has it working under Win 7?

You have installed Vista version of Toshiba HW Settings?
I don't know if this will help but try to remove preinstalled version from the system and try to install Win7 version for other notebook model like Satellite P300. Maybe it will work.
Problem is that Win7 drivers, tools and utilities are not available for your notebook model.

  • Sat A200-1AE: Toshiba Hardware Utility - "the serial number is invalid"

    Dear Sirs,
I install Vista Business to my A200-1AE (originaly it was Home Primium). I install all drivers exept TOSHIBA Hardware Setup Utility . Then i try to install it is says "the serial number is invalid"
Can some one help how to install it and what can be a problem?

What I did - I walk thru the original drivers that were added on the cd with Home Vista.
I found out that Toshiba Hardware Utility version is 1.48.0.8c, it is not the same as it is on a download drivers presented by toshiba for downloading v.1.48.0.9c.
1.48.0.9c - this is the version wich didnt want to be instaled -"Serial number is incorrect". So i found it in the net and install 1.48.0.8c
Plus it was mentioned that all drivers from the beginning have to be installed in order - given by toshiba, but by number 8 it was mentioned *TI Multiple Digital Media card Reader* - only after Jeffrey msg i found out that it is the same ->Flash Media Driver - the one i was installing right after Flash card Support utility - since i coudnt figure out what they mean by T*I Multiple Digital Media card Reader*.
I tryed it on my girlfriend notebook and it worked.
Right now I will try it on my Notebook - after usefull help by you Jimi regarding incorrect ROM size i will try it and let you knoiw if it worked.
I just dont understand why it is important to install drivers in the strick order + different versions appears.
One more thing, I have a problem with Robson Package - it is all the time against me -no instalation :-( but it is appears with the rest of drivers presented by toshiba for my model.

  • Satellite X200-252 and Vista sound mixer problem

    Hi,
My Satellite X200-252 is running under Vista Home Premium operating system.
I have strange problem with sound mixer. After (I think) some security patches applied my vista stopped from recognizing the sound device.
The taskbar sound icon on the right side of the screen is marked with red cross and while im clicking the icon the info-window states that there is no sound device connected.
When I select the properties, I see all 3 output devices, i.e. internal speakers, hdmi and digital output. However no icon is displayed in the window. But the configuration is working.
Moreover the keyboard shortcuts as well as touchpad works as expected. I mean I can mute/unmute etc..
But I can not change the volumes per channel. For this I need the mixer app.
What I can do to repair my comp?
    /Arek

    Hi
In your case I would recommend reinstalling the sound driver.
As far as I know this notebook supports an Realtek sound card.
You could visit the Realtek website and could download the sound driver directly from this page.
You need an HD sound driver.

    Hello.
Have you already tried to reinstall the chipset drivers? Normally those install this needed USB driver.
Check the Toshiba download page here:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com (Support & Downloads)
Select your notebook model and Vista as your operating system, download driver, install it, and restart you machine.

  • Satellite X200 1AA - What is Toshiba x64 ACPI compliant?

I have a Satellite X200 1AA notebook with Windows Vista Premium SP1 and I received through Windows Update the following optional updating notification:
"TOSHIBA x64 ACPI-Compliant Value Added Logical and General Purpose Device".
What device is this? What does it do? Should I install it?

    Hello
When you check Microsoft updates you will see several optional updates for WLAN card, LAN card, Synaptics TouchPad and c64 ACPI....
I don't want to do any updates for these devices because all tested drivers are installed and this update can change something and maybe make some problems.
I have removed check mark in front of these update options. In my opinion you should do the same.
If notebook runs well (all listed components) you don't need such updates.

  • Installing a second operating system (Windows XP) on a Satellite X200 20G

Hello everybody, I would need your help on the following:
I know lot of posts describe parts of what to do (I spent sometimes on then), but I would like to limit at maximum the risks so I am looking for the most simple and exhaustive guideline for this change.
Why XP? Just because I run lot of astronomy hardware and software, and, well, Vista is not ready yet...
I am happy with Vista for other uses so I will keep it, install XP on the second hard drive and make a dual boot.
First fear: will I have all the appropriate drivers to jump?
I run a Satellite X200 20G PSPB9E-02G021FR and I have found on the Toshiba support site "some" drivers for XP, but it looks as if the display (at least) is missing...
==> 1) could you pls give me a link to a page which lists all the drivers for my specific system?
==> 2) could you pls point me to a post which describes the steps to follow?
==> 3) it looks as if nLite is the right choice to make the XP installation CD, but I assume I could not just launch it under Vista and capture my drivers for XP, is this right?
Thank you very much for your help

    > Please note that you can use only the BIOS which were designed especially for this notebook series!!!
Well, excuse me *Gipsyman* I surely don't want to be a pest, but the need to install XP on the Toshba X200 20G (for example) is not a dream, it is a hard reality and in Europe I know tens of people (if not much many) who had to do so because their preloaded Vista was not at all answering their needs, and there was no longer Toshiba laptops available preloaded with XP.
I am member of a forum which is dedicated to the Toshiba X200, I can tell you that we love our Toshiba and are very happy ( /proud ?) of it and I am not sure how many have kept the original platform, but definitely it's very few.
By the way, Toshiba releases 32 drivers for XP in his European download page, so this does not happen by chance.
In fact lots of people are wondering for the BIOS compatibility under XP, so my purpose, asking this question earlier in this post, and trying to make our position clear in this one, is to make the part between what is the theory: e.g. "The Toshiba X200 is preloaded with Vista, all changes to XP is under customer responsibility and at his own risks" (let me smile a bit here as Thoshiba still kindly provides XP drivers....) and the reality: e.g. "hei guys!, be careful, if you update your BIOS while you are running XP, you take the risk to break something".... see what I mean?
I hope this clarifies what I (my European friends and I) need to know: what is the real risk of making BIOS updates while our laptops are running XP because we had to.
Pls, again, don't see anything aggressive in my lines (I really appreciate your help), just a willingness to make things clear.

    *Original:* 1024MB + 1024MB Memory 667MHZ / 512MB VRAM *Replaced:* Kingston Kingston KVR667D2S5/2G (I have this 2x)
*Original:* 200GB + 200GB Harddisk Drive (4200RPM) SATA *Replaced:* Only 1 HDD left, other one I will get back in 2 days.

    W-Lan (802.11 A/G/N)
    1/3MPixel Web Camera
    Bluetooth
Microsoft Vista Home Premium 32 Bit
    _*My Problem:*_
I take out the battery, plug it in the power. Charging light turns on.
I press the power button, power led turns on. Followed by the hdd led turn on, which blinks real quick, stays on for 1 second, then turns of. The power led stays on during all the time.
2 seconds after the power button, a fan starts blowing, while the above mention hdd led blinks for 1 second, 2 seconds after the fan starting to blow, it turns off.
We are now 4 seconds farther, pretty much, everything stopts, except a very tiny minor humming sound. (I just left it on for a couple minutes, sound remains, nothing happens.) (While writing this all I left it on for 10 minutes, the laptop heats op a bit, the adapter gets hotter, but still only the very tiny minor humming sound.)
+So my laptop works for 4 seconds, wont give any screen (black screen) wont load even BIOS. What could be wrong ?+
    _*Fixing?:*_
Ok so I left the laptop after a couple of months, being told it was dead, just getting it dusty. (Read history to get this)
But since last week, I figured its getting dusty, I never opened a laptop before, why wont I try doing that.
_+*I replaced the Memory modules, Slot A and B , both memories , same time, one at a time, all possible ways.*+_
_+*Since I have only 1 HDD, I used it in both slots. Looks to no difference. Using NO HDD, I do NOT have the very tiny minor humming sound!!!*+_
I followed a guide [http://www.irisvista.com/tech/] to open my laptop, to see what is inside.
Finding no lose plugs, but did find a certein oil, and some white paste.
Closing the laptop, to try it out, I accidently screwed a couple wrong screws in the laptop, piercing the top cover of my laptop, but no chips were hit during this :P (Yeah, Im a bit to strong, I should have figured using force for a couple of the screws wasnt the best thing I could do, but now i know :p)
*SOOO* My question, while I wait for the extra old HDD (getting it in 2 days). (Probably making no difference)
What could be wrong, more precisly. Should I like try taking out the video card or something ?
Is there something I should do with some soldering?
Any tips/tricks that could work, wether to fix the laptop, or to narrow down the problem , to a small part which i could replace ?

    _*History:*_
Not sure if this is any important, but just to let you know, if intrested what happend all to the laptop ;)
I bought the laptop at Shape Computers (in the netherlands) Asking this laptop mentioned above, with 2 things changed. I wanted more Memory, and I wanted windows XP. The shop told me this was possible. They bought me the laptop in, they replaced the Memory with the kingston memories. They installed windows XP instead of the Vista. They laptop did work at this very moment. So I bought the working laptop, with 1 year warranty.
With the folders extra given with the laptop, I was able to increase my warranty from 1 to 2 years for free, so I did.
After probably a couple of weeks I noticed that the laptop was getting real hot, after longer usage. But according to the manual this was normal.
I did use the laptop for gaming, but also 2 months for a gaming study. So I did take it several times to school in a backpack.
After not using it for school anymore I reinstalled Windows Vista 32 BIT
At a very point not sure when precisly I noticed that it wouldnt turn on (probably same problem as I have now) but I was really relaxed about it, tried it later, and somehow it did work again. This happend perhaps about 5 times in total.
Knowing something was wrong, I took it back to Shape Computers. They checked it. (Not showing me what they did to it) But they told me I had nothing to worry about.
After about 2 years I actually sold this laptop to my mom. She used it a couple times (she is like realy noob, just about computers in generally, not even knowing if she should double click icons or not) She took it with her a couple times on trips, and they after about 2 years and 2 months ... this problem happend.
My mom knows a guy, and a friend of that guy, works alot with broken laptops, which told me that the problem was the _+motherboard+_.
I decided to take it back to the shop. After a long progress being down there (about 6 to 8 weeks)(Me going to the shop like 15 times). The shop managed to tell me it was the motherboard. That the motherboard couldnt be fixed and that a new one would be way to expensive.
+(I Known at this very point, after getting the motherboard back, that this laptop was not screwed open yet. The screws were still brand new.)+
Funny information(not for me), during this period of about 8 weeks, they actually told me lies like ... I left a message at your voicemail, I DONT HAVE A VOICEMAIL ... sorry for the caps but im still xxxxxx about those lies.
So still believing the shop ... my laptop is gone .... dead ... but then since last week, I started looking into the laptop myself ...(Fixing)

Ok, the company did not reply at all ... I ended up sending another email. And they did reply with a automatic message. Now weeks later still nothing more then that auto reply.
While I was waiting I contacted another guy that knows alot from these laptops. Getting a new part would cost me about 300 euros, and thats just the part, not even replace time.
Considering the toshiba help I have gotten ... (pretty much none) in these last years.
I declare my laptop dead. And decide at this very moment, that I (ofcourse) never will buy toshiba hardware again.
I might pay a bit more at my Dell computers, but the support in the last 8 years with 5 different computer systems and 1 laptop. Has been perfect in compare to the toshiba support I have gotten in the last 3 years, which just fails.
Thx tho all you guys for the replys.

  • WLAN has stopped working - Satellite X200/N00, Vista 32-bit Ultimate (SP1)

When I purchased this laptop earlier this year, everything worked pretty well with no significant issues. A few weeks ago, however, my WLAN connection stopped working -- specifically, it does not get a valid IP address from the router.
Notebook is a Satellite X200/N00 (PSPBUA). OS is 32-bit Vista Ultimate (SP1).
It was working fine right up to the point where it stopped working. The router itself still works fine -- I have used the wireless connection with a completely different laptop since having the problem on the Toshiba.
This seems to be a fairly common Vista issue, but so far everything I've tried has failed to get me anywhere.
The router is a D-Link DSL-G604T. I have updated it to the latest version of firmware, but this has not made any difference.
In Vista I have disabled IP v6.
I have installed the latest version of the Intel wireless driver (v12.1.2.1). The hardware passes all self-tests, the only thing that fails is obtaining the IP address.
I don't know why the wireless connection just stopped working -- as best as I can recall, I had not installed any new software or updates just prior to it stopping working. It doesn't seem to be a hardware fault.
One thing I have not yet done is test the connection with a completely different wireless router (e.g., at a public access point).
That may be instructive, but not really useful, since I need to get it working with the router I have!
    Any thoughts?

    Hi
There are many different reasons why the IP address cannot be obtained.
In first case you should check if your firewall is disabled or doesnt prevent the IP address from receiving.
Secondly you should check if the TCP/IP protocol was set to automatic
You can find such settings in TCP\IP protocol properties.
Last but not least I would recommend disabling all security settings on the router and trying to establish the WLan connection.
Please check if the Mac address filtering was disabled, disable the WLan encryption, and check if the right SSID is in use.
If it will be possible to establish the Wlan connection then you could enable step by step the single WLan security settings on the router.
    Bye

  • Need Windows 7 64-bit drivers for Satellite X200-21P

    Hello everybody,
Hope someone could help me with my query.
Recently I have made a clean installation with Windows 7 64-bit and now I am having drivers problems. Except for nvidia driver which I have downloaded from their website, I could not find any other drivers and not even able to use the drivers that are in toshiba website.
    My notebook is Satellite X200-21P.
Any suggestion or direction would be appreciated! Thank you very much!
    Kind Regards
    Suraj

For me is logic to check support at fist and then make decision which OS should be installed.
Fact is that your notebook model is not supported for Win7.
For me there are two options only:
-try to use Vista 64bit stuff
-check if some other notebook model with similar hardware is Win7 supported and try to use these drivers.
Sorry but I dont see any other solution for you.

  • Satellite X200-22U - FN key driver for Windows 7?

    Hi all!
I use a Satellite X200-22U notebook, and I want to install Windows 7 32bit on it.
The problem is, that my FN key functions don't work.
They worked fine with the factory installed Vista, but the multimedia keys were dead.
Now, under Win7 my multimedia keys are working fine, but the FN key functions are dead.
I installed almost all the drivers (Value Added Package, Controls, Flashcard, Assist, Chipset, Bluetooth, etc.) but some of them is available only for Win XP, some others only for Vista, there is no Win7 support. Despite this (as I see) my only problem is the FN key support. I want to switch the displays, set the brightness, mute the speakers, so it's problem.
My tfncky.exe doesn't run under Win7 and I got a message about it after startup.
Is there any newer version available for Win7, or can I use the driver(s) of an other notebook?
    Could you help me?
    Thanks,
    McLawrence

    Hi mate
Ive got a older notebook and the Win 7 drivers were not released for my series.
I downloaded simply the Value Added Package and Flash Card Support Utility from the Toshiba European driver page: chosen the tools which were released for Satellite L500 series.
I installed first VAP and after new reboot I followed with Flash Card installation.
After second reboot I tested the Fn buttons and could get this functionality and the control bar appeared at the top of the display.
You could also check if you could restart the Flash Card in All Programs > Toshiba -> FlashCard restart

  • Satellite X200 - Drivers for Windows 7 32bit

Please, I'm looking for drivers for the Satellite X200 Windows7 32bit.
    Can you help me?

    Hi
You can use Win 7 drivers like WLan, LAN, Bluetooth, touchpad from other notebook series because many notebooks series are equipped with the same devices.
Here you can download the WLan and BT driver:
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/
The Toshiba tools like VAP (value added package) or Flash Card Support Utility can be used also from other series like Satellite L500 or newer
These tools are needed to get the multimedia buttons and FN buttons to work.
I would also recommend checking this HowTO:
    http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=78
This helps you to identify the unknown devices and to find the right driver!

I have a Satellite X200-191 whit BIOS 2.70 on it when I wont to install Configfree than I get the messege that my laptop is not a Toshiba. And I got the program that you can install from Toshiba that downloads the drivers of your laptop that is not a Toshiba. But when I load the old BIOS 2.50 every thing is good no message that it is not a Toshiba laptop nothing white the same drivers. Is there somthing whit the BIOS update?
It doesn't happen when you update the BIOS from 2.50 to 2.70 only when you have 2.70 and do a clean install of Windows 7 64bit
    Greetings

    Hello
    > But when I load the old BIOS 2.50
How you have installed the old BIOS? Older BIOS versions are not available on Toshiba website and downgrade can only be done from an authorized service provider because special BIOS update program is necessary.
Satellite X200-191 belongs to PSPB9E series so have you downloaded the update for this model or other model (PSPBUE) that would be wrong?
I read about similar messages here in forum and the reason was a replaced mainboard and the ASP did forget to write the DMI information. Did you exchange the mainboard?

  • Help toshiba recovery utility

satellite pro a 210 goes through ram disk setup and comes up to toshiba recovery utility and asks for machine model.   i have tried many numbers and only get wrong machine.      any ideas

It' s very easy to do it:
    1. You should make a windows clean installation, install all the drivers and programs you like. It can be antivirus, download manager, video players. But I recommend to install the most necessary programs otherwise more space required.
2 Download and install ,, Acronis true Image,,. then, activate it, Google can help you how to do it.
3 Run Acronis, Click on Backup at left side panel. Then, click on Disk and Partition Backup, the new window appears ,,Backup wizard,,
    where:
a ,,What to back up,, - Mark the Os partition located. In my case, it's C disk partition.
b ,,Archive Location,,- Browse where you want to store hdd backup, should be another partition for example D: partiton
    c ,,Scheduling,, - choose, don't schedule
    d ,,Back up method,, -Full
e ,,what to exclude,, Just ignore
f ,,Backup option,, you can choose a password protection,, and other options
Press ,,Proceed,, and it will start backing up, it takes about 10-15 minutes.
Now, you need to manage acronis secure zone. go to Tools and utilities and choose acronis secure zone.
    in
    a. ,,Free space selection,, - Mark NTFS C
b ,,Size,,- choose 250-300 mb space
Then, click on Finish and Proceed. it will proceed and then ask you to restart it. After restart it will perform ,,Partioning,, and restarts again.
In Tools and Utilities, choose Acronis startup recovery and press activate. So, on the laptop startup you just need to hit F11 to enter the Acronis recovery utility and follow all the instructions. In 10-15 minutes, you will get the new installed system.
