Sattelite C55D-B5310 Doesn't Power Up

I used the laptop last night and closed the screen without turning it off. This morning I raised the screen and nothing happens. The fan is running, power light is on, orange light is on, but the green lights will not come on. Any suggestions? I have only had this computer for 2.5 months!

Thanks BDAqua........Sorry to hear that......
By coincidence, I took mine apart today & cleaned it.  All the fans, hdd, optic, connectors, PSU, etc.  To my surprise the power supply was really clean.  No dust buildup whatsoever, but I did have to clean the fans.  On a visual inspection, the capacitors looked ok but didn't test them.  For now, mine is far from dead (knock on wood).  Works fine since I cleaned it but what's with the time & date.  I thought the battery on the motherboard controlled that when the computer was off?  Is there something else I'm missing?

  • C55D-B5310 At least 3 problems with brand new laptop, now fed up.

I bought the wife a new C55D-B5310 from Best Buy on the 5th of January, and am now ready to take it back (even though I'm outside the 14/15 day return policy.   I bought it for my wife but had nothing but problems with it.
First, there was the green videos, totally green and just sound.  No amount of windows updates solved that, I had to download a third party codec pack in order to get it to work.  I had noticed this on the display model as well, and ignored it at the time (silly me).
Second there was the constantly dropping wi-fi connection.   A search on here and an updated driver + disabling the power save feature for the adaptor has seemingly resolved that.  (but frankly why should I have to disable a power saving feature just to get it to not be 'limited connectivity').
Then last night I noticed the touch pad was playing up and was stopping responding, disappearing, or simply not being responsive.   At this point after three problems, I'm fed up with this.  A user should not have to get things working that should be working from the factory.   The laptop also seems to freeze at times or be unresponsive in general.
I'm an experienced I.T. professional, but this was for my wife, and she is also now fed up with it, and now just uses her phone instead, as it's such a pain to use.  Seriously... where was the product testing on this model.  These are such basic things to get right.
On a side note, I just also bought another (alternative brand) laptop for myself.  It works beautifully.  No connection issues, the touch pad just works, the machine doesn't freeze whilst it's thinking about stuff.  The Toshiba should work model should work just like this.
I'm now worried I'll be stuck with this pain in the butt laptop, even though it's not fit for purpose.

I actually bought an HP laptop for $150 from a sample store (i3, 6GB, 750GB HDD, touchscreen)  It works flawlessly unlike the totally non-QA'd Toshiba.  My wife loves the new machine, and without me prompting her, she simply said that it just works, and does everything she wants.  (Obviously this machine is in at least $200+ extra dollar price bracket compared to the $300 dollar Toshiba however, so don't read into this too much).
I have heard a lot of the UK guys saying that Toshiba's quality has dropped through the floor, with the same sort of problems as I mentioned (plus others).
Sorry Tosh, but you really need to get your act together with your budget range.  There is absolutely no reason why this machine should have performed so badly, and had at least 3 faults right out of the box.
I was seriously considering keeping the C55D for myself to use, but after spending a short time with it, it was clearly trash.

  • Toshiba Satellite C55D-B5310 running SLOW

I purchased this laptop 3 months ago.  When I first login with password, and try to open any programs, including Word, Excel, or my Quicken program, they're VERY slow to load.  Even after I get one of those programs loaded, Word for instance, opening a existing Word document is slow. Also, when I first get onto the web, every click to open a website is slow.  I don't have much in the way of music on my computer, and have no movies.  Any ideas?  Time to send it to Toshiba for repair?
    This is a Toshiba Satellite C55D-B5310, AMD Quad-core (A8-6410),  Part No. PSCN4U-00T019
    Thanks!!!

This is an experiment to learn more. What happens in Safe Mode with Networking? Are things still slow?
Open the System Configuration utility (msconfig.exe), set it this way, OK out, and restart Windows.

  • Poor Audio Volume C55D-B5310

    Satellite C55D-B5310
Audio has a very tinny sound, and even at full 100% volume it sounds muffled
I have tried to install the latest audio drivers from the toshiba website.
I have tried listening to audio from the browser, and from a downloaded mp3 through winplayer.
It seems as if the input level is not coming in to a full level... as if it is being limited.
The green input level on the volume control never raises above 25%
I have tried to check and uncheck the "loudness equalization" with no change.
    Advise??

Hi I am having the same problem what driver did you down load to my knowledge and according to device manager I already have the most recent driver I also re downloaded it from the website I have heard nothing but good things about Toshiba this issue is making me doubt them.

My iPod 4th generation doesn't Power Off.  Any idea how to force it to shut Off?

Try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

I did exactly this. I took my laptop apart and there are 2 slots for ram, but if I put another 4GB RAM the laptop turns on for 5 seconds and then turns off. • Satellite P200-136 doesn't Power On

    Hi there,
I have a P200 that doesn't power on any more! It's about 3 years old.
Battery LED (yellow) and "DC IN LED" (blue) are on.
Nothing happens, when I press the power on button. I tried to push it harder, repeatetly, smoothly and so on...but nothing...
If I press the "Internet" or "CD/DVD" Button (directly near the power button), the notebook powers on for about 3-4 sec., fan is active, then it powers off.
Display doesn't power on, no backlight etc.
    What I already tried:
    - removed the battery
    - tested another power supply (with and without battery inserted)
    - removed harddisk and RAM
Anyone an idea, why it doesn't power on while pressing the power button?
    Mainboard defect?
    thanks and bye,
    Heiko

    Hi Heiko,
This sounds really strange and I think its a hardware problem that cant be solved easily. My suggestion is that you contact an authorized service provider in your country. The technicians can check your notebook and repair it for you.
Here is a list of all ASPs:

  • IPod nano doesn't power on

I received a couple of days ago an iPod Nano as a replacement for the 1g Nano with battery problems.
I was listening to some radio stations, and it suddenly turned off. I thought the battery went down since it already was at low levels, so I connected it to the power supply for 1h. It still doesn't turn on. I also tried to hold down the volume down and the standby button for 20s, but nothing happens.

Contact Apple Support about the issue as the replacement Nano should still be under the 90 warranty that came with it.

  • Macbook Pro doesn't power up. How to make sure that's a logic board or IO board issue?

    Hi there,
I've got Macbook Pro of this model http://everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook_pro/specs/macbook-pro-core-2-duo-2.16- 15-specs.html
It's quite old. but as his owner told me it was working properly. Just in one day it went down. If he remembers that correctly it happend after he connected external display to it. So on press of power button, laptop doesn't react at all, even no any blinks of LEDs.
When I connect MagSafe charge cable, LED lights up red/orange and starts to charge battery as usuall. green LED at the bottom of battery itself starts to blink. Can't say now does it charge or not I just have plugged it, but at least my quess some power comes through laptop to battery.
Power button still doesn no effect when pushed.
Are there any checklists or options to determine where is the problem?
Looking forward any feedbacks on that matter
    Thank you in advance
    Regards
    Alex

Still not sure how to troubleshoot the issue properly!
    Anyone?

  • Apple Cinema Display 22" doesn't power on

All - I have an old 22" Apple Cinema Display, model# M8149 that won't power on at all - no picture, no blinky lights on the front, just totally dead. I've tried it with a known function ADC capable video card as well as a known working DVIator external power supply - notta.
Does anyone have any idea which part may be defective? I see lots of posts about replacing the inverter board, but in all cases, the posts indicate the monitor powers on, just no or blank picture. Mine doesn't show any signs of life whatsoever.
    any help is appreciated.
    thx,

Are you sure that the connector on your laptop is a "AVG" ? Never heard of that one before. Perhaps it is a VGA???? If it is a VGA and your laptop graphics card is 16 MB video or less, it probably will not support the resolution of the 23 inch. As I can recall, it needs minimum of 32MB video ram to run it. Most older laptops will max out at resolutions of 1200X800. Find out what specs are on the card.

  • WD My Book doesn't power down

Since installing Leopard, an external hard drive no longer powers down when I shut down the computer . . . any ideas . . . is this a bug-to-be-fixed perhaps ?

I have contacted WD with regards to support with Leopard, and after a month they still have not replyed, however one other user managed to get a reply.
I use 2 WD My Book Pro's 500GB. One clones the other as I am a DJ and have an extensive music collection that I back up. At the moment both mine will power down on shut down, but the 'button' will still pulse every once in a while, but this is the same behaviour as Tiger.
I use WD Button Manager to shutdown the second drive, but at the moment the Button Manager software under Leopard doesn't work, as confirmed by the other user from WD directly.
They are currently 'working on' the update, so hopefully with this, we should be able to power down our drivers.
    We hope !

  • Thinkpad Yoga doesn't power up

I bought a Thinkpad Yoga about 3 weeks ago. It came with two discoloured spots at the top two corners, so I went back to the shop and switched for a new one. This also came with the problem and I therefore switched for a third one again, which also had this problem.
I sent it in for replacement, Lenovo was willing to approve a direct replacement from them, so after 3 weeks of waiting (yes, which meant i spent only 1 day so far with this laptop). The fourth laptop arrived today. However, after working for a few hours, the laptop now refuses to power up at all.
I tried the power button trick, doesn't work. I tried pulling out the battery and power cable and pressed the reset button, doesn't work. I tried holding on to the power button for 5 minutes, pressing the reset button for 5 mins, doesn;t work.
Before I request for a fifth replacement laptop from Lenovo again, does anybody have any tips that could help me power up my TPY? I feel really helpless with this laptop right now. (Refunds doesn't happen in Singapore due to weak consumer protection laws).

Does the laptop respond when u press the power button? If you have problem I strongly suggest refund or replacement.

  • Mac Mini Doesn't Power ON

While watching a movie, the mac mini suddenly switched OFF. I tried several times to turn it ON and tried different wall outlets but it doesn't turn ON.
Anyone knows what is this problem? does the mac mini have a power supply inside? and how to make sure it's not the adapter that was fried?

Since you posted in mini (2009), assume you have an Intel-based mini. Reset the SMC:
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Unplug the computer's power cord.
    3. Press and hold the power button for at least 5 seconds.
    4. Release the power button.
    5. Attach the computers power cable.
    6. Press the power button to turn on the computer.
If there's not a more serious problem, that should take care of things.
