Save As Dialog Window Size Problem

I'm having an issue with the Save As and Save Linked File As dialog windows. When using the expanded dialog window, the sides and bottom of the window extend beyond the edges of my screen.
Thus the New Folder, Cancel, and Save buttons are cut off and all I can see is the very top of each button and none of the button text.
I can't resize the window manually because the bottom right corner isn't visible. I also tried clicking the green Zoom button to no avail.
How can I get this window to size properly?

I think those settings are saved in Safari's property list file. Opening that file in either Property List Editor or TextEdit and scrolling through the entries highlights a cluster of "NSPanelExpandedSizeForSaveMode" strings, which look like they may be relevant.
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
If you're not comfortable editing the file manually, you can try moving the .plist file to your Desktop and restarting Safari. Hopefully everything will return to normal.

Save / Export Dialog Window Size

In InDesign CS4, Mac Leopard, when I go to save or export my dialog window comes up about as small as it can. I'm using column view. In CS3 I would resize to my liking and every time I would save or export from whatever file it would be sized the same as I left it. Now it always comes up tiny making me resize every time. This happened as soon as we switched to CS4. Seems to only be in InDesign, not PSD or AI.
Any thoughts?

Here's a screen shot of what I am talking about. I'm sure my description is confusing.
Basically it always comes up this size and I have to enlarge by draging or maximizing.
I would prefer to resize once, say open up to 3 columns, and have it come up like that all the time.

Can no longer do Cmd N within the Save As dialog window

Hey guys
For some reason I haven't been able to make new folders within the Save As dialog window by pressing Command N after installing Leopard, I have to manually click the New Folder button. Were commands changed? Is it a bug? I would appreciate if someone can tell me how to get this command back.

Glad to hear you aren't crazy, but apparently some programmer somewhere was. I always use the button when I'm in Save as to create a new folder, something I do rarely, so I assumed it worked the way it did everywhere else, and, of course when I tried it here in Leopard it did work the way I assumed it ought to. Evidently there was an, umm, how to put this nicely....interface inconsistency (that sounds polite, I think) that was corrected in Leopard. There, I'm sure the original programmer won't be offended. Not to mention his boss, or whoever is supposed to be in charge of Human Interface Guidelines Compliance issues. Whoever it is seems to take frequent vacations....

Open file/browse-file dialog window size too small

It seems like the size of the "Open file" and "Browse file"-dialog windows have become too small to use efficiently.
I'm not sure if this is related to the latest updates from testing, but it wasn't like this before. I have to resize the dialog window every time in order to be able to select files and folders.
The changes are not saved across the same session of a program, but it does result in unpredictable behavior in gedit.
If I resize the open file dialog, then close the dialog, then open it again, the changes are sometimes preserved, but not always. Sometimes it's small and sometimes it's resized, and there's no way of telling.
I'm running compiz-fusion and emerald, but the bug is not related to window manager, as it's the same with metacity and openbox. So it's for all GTK programs.
When I try to run gnome-appearance-properties, I get:
"Unable to start the settings manager 'gnome-settings-daemon'.
Without the GNOME settings manager running, some preferences may not take effect. This could indicate a problem with Bonobo, or a non-GNOME (e.g. KDE) settings manager may already be active and conflicting with the GNOME settings manager."
and the problem remains no mather what GTK theme I choose.
Is gnome-settings-daemon responsible for this kind of behavior?

The issue was resolved by updating all to gnome-desktop 2.24 from testing..
Seems like the swedish repository mirrors are a bit left behind..

Save as dialog window display is slow with EVERY app

Hello guys,
Since upgrading to Yosemite 10.10.2 I see a VERY annoying issue each time any application opens a "Save as..." dialog : the dialog takes about 5 seconds to load. I think I also hear something like a small beep during the time the Save window tries to open and most of the time I see the spinning wheel a few seconds before the Save as dialog is displayed.
Specs of my Mac are as follow :
Macmini 6,2
Intel Core i7
2,3 GHz
RAM: 16 Go
Intel SSD
I don't have any network drives attached, only 3 USB drives.
This Save As bug is a HUGE issue for me, sorry but I can't wait 5 seconds every time I need to Save something.
Anyone here found a solution to this issue ??

Windows size problem when resume apps, TTA SGD E4.0

Hi,
I have a problem and can�t find the solution yet.
I open windows apps in my desktop with a 800x600 resolution, the app is
configured for independent window, clients maximun size and fill my screen
completely as suppose to do. Then I close the window app clicking the X icon
to suspend the emulator session.
When I resume a suspended emulator session or move to other workstation and
take the session over the emulator session window size is 640x480 and stick
there whatever I try to do, worst is I can�t see the full window and also
there are no scroll bars, so I can�t reach the START icon on the lower left
to close the app because the session becomes useless.
The workarround solution was set the "scale to fit" properties in 640x480
and then I can see the full window to reach the star icon and close the app
to start over, but the user complain about the small letters and slow
performance. Another clue is if I click on the maximize icon the window try
to fill up my screen and then inmediatelly go back to 640x480.

Thanks for your answer but my problem is the Linux server OS, is Red Hat AS
2.1 wich is not supported in TTA 4.10.
When I tried to make the TTA upgrade failed due library issues.
Is my problem a reported bug for TTA 4.0 ???
Can you give any other advise or workarround ??

Popup window size problem

Save As dialog window disappears when trying to save or use pdf writer

When I try to create a pdf using a pdf writer/printer, or even when i try to save a pdf file, the dialog box showing where to save it appears then immediately disappears before i can choose a name or location to save the pdf. i have tried reinstalling the reader, reooting, reinstalling the pdf writer, nothing seems to work.

I have tried multiple pdf writers including cutepdf and a proprietary pdf writer so I am pretty sure the problem lies within adobe reader. Especially since the problem occurs when I just try to save the pdf and not use the writer.

Window Size Problem in Mountain Lion

I have a MacBook Pro 13" I use with a Thunderbolt display in another location. When I return home the iTunes window is sized on the MBP screen the same size as it was on the Thunderbot Display. There is no way to reach the lower right corner of the iTunes window to resize it to fit the 13" screen. With the display not available to me I cannot just reattach the Thunderbolt Display and resize. I do not remember this beirng a problem in Lion.
Any suggestions?

ADF11 - Task-Flow Run as Dialog Window Size

I've an unbounded task flow that calls a bounded task flow.
The task flow call is marked run-as-dialog
The button in the unbounded task flow that calls the bounded task flow has useWindow=True
When running the application and clicking the button the task-flow is executed in a modal browser window,
however the size of the modal browser window is way too small for the window contents.
Is there a way to control the size of the browser window opened when running a task-flow as a dialog.

Save as dialog window for excel file save ....

hi!
i have a jsp that displays all the report names to the clients and when clicked on the report downloads an excel file and saves to the client machine.this is accomplished by calling a servlet that sets the content type as "application/octet-stream" and setting the header as "setHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=myExcel.xls")
and writing the bytes to the excel file.works just perfect.
now if you open the excel file and make changes to it and try to save it with a different name by clicking 'save as' option from file menu, the 'save as file type' by default shows "text" instead of excel worksheet.
have you guys come across this problem anytime....

Video Podcasts streaming window size problem since upgrade to 9.0.3

Since the upgrade to 9.0.3 on Windows Vista SP2 when I go to the iTunes store and play a video podcast (Tekzilla, ABC news, etc.), a small window opens up without any controls to stop/start, show time played, expand window, etc. It seems the play must be initiated from a small button to the right of the specific podcast, not the play button on the upper left as before.
I have not found a way to expand the small window to full screen as worked before.
I have played with the options on the iTunes and tried Cntl + F, 1, 2, etc. Set the view option to full screen, etc. In short, every option that I can think of.
I have tried large quicktime and HD podcasts with the same result.
If I download the podcast, as opposed to steaming the podcast; and then highlight and hit the upper left play button, the podcast plays full screen and everything works as before (previously streaming and download playing worked the same).
I have a 6 MB DSL connection which works fine for Hulu, etc. and previously worked fine for full screen video podcast playback in iTunes. I am using a core 2 T5500 CPU with Vista SP2. This machine is a couple years old but is still relatively quick for non-gaming use.
Has iTunes changed? Is there a setting that I need to reset?

Likewise. I started having the problem before 9.03. The upgrade helped for a couple of days, then it started happening again. And then I upgraded to 9.1, and not only do I have to log in and agree to the settings page EVERY SINGLE TIME I LOG IN but the "remember password" box is now completely missing.
Any time I have iPhone apps to update, I have to click on "download all", which then pops up the login box. I enter my password, click on OK to agree that my settings are OK, then I have to click on "download all a second time.
This is getting very annoying.

Why do I see my open images in the Save As dialog window?

I have loaded about 10 pictures in the editor of elements 10. I want to save them to an sd card. When I try to do that it tries to save all of my pictures instead. What am I doing wrong?

To expand on what Michel said, when you use Save As, you have to select a folder in which to save the file. You will see the contents of whatever folder is currently selected. This could include the file you are about to save, any other files you may have opened from this location, and files you have not yet worked on. Opening a file for editing does not remove it from its folder.
