Save before print with Reader?

I am now required to save a .pdf before I can print when printing from eBay, Google email. I have reinstalled Acrobat. I've tried the right-click to check security settings, but right clicking does nothing.

It's not a bug. Reader normally cannot save a modified document, and filling form fields is modifying the document. But you can enable certain features in Reader if you give the document usage rights. There are a number of usage rights that enable features in Reader that are not normally available, such as saving, commenting, submitting outside of a browser, and others.
You can grant certain usage rights to a document using Acrobat Pro 8 or 9, but there are licensing restrictions that go along with doing so. In particular, if you distribute the document to more than 500 recipients, then you can extract information from a maximum of 500 returned forms (including hardcopies). There is no limit to the number of returned forms you can process if you distribute the document to 500 or fewer recipients.
To avoid these limitations, you can use Adobe's LiveCycle Reader Extensions product to grant usage rights to your documents. This is a more expensive option and you'll have to negotiate directly with Adobe regarding pricing. A less costly alternative is to use the third-party service of FormRouter - http://www.formrouter.com/pdf/readerextensions.htm, who for a fee will enable individual documents for you.

  • Can't print with Reader 10.1.4

Since downloading an update to Reader on Aug 24, i can no longer print (wirelessly) a PDF from Reader.  My current version is 10.1.4.  ALL of my other printing works with all other applications.  Only problem seems to be with Reader.  I have uninstalled reader and re-installed.  Still bad.
    Any suggestions?

I had the same exact issue.  When I went to uninstall Adobe I received a message that I first had to close "Microsoft Windows Search Filter Host."  This led me to believe there was some kind of conflict between the two.  I went to services.msc and stopped the service called Windows Search and then tried printing from Adobe.  All of a sudden it worked.  I went back in and started the service again and was still able to print.  I hope this is what you're dealing with as well and can utilize the same fix.  Nothing else worked for me.

  • Duplex printing with Reader XI?

Adobe Reader XI (11.0.07) does not recognize duplex printing for my Brother HL-5370DW printer.  This occurs in OS X 10.6.8 and Mavericks (on different computers).  All other software, including Acrobat Reader 9 (and earlier versions of Reader) and Acrobat 8 do recognize the duplex mode on the 10.6.8 machine.
Is there a solution or a software workaround?
    Thanks

I don't know what is causing this; you could try Print as Image (Advanced button on the Print panel).

  • Save rather than print with Reader 10.1.3

Using Windows 7 x64 and Reader 10.1.3; when trying to print I am offered the print set-up page but when I press 'print' it saves a file in a folder. Other applications print ok. Any ideas .... it is as if it always prints to file?

In the print dialog disable the entry 'Print to File'.

  • Problem Printing with Reader 10.1.4

I have been trying to print a PDF this evening, that I have printed before.  That was before 10.1.4 was AUTOMATICALLY installed.  The document should print on an 8.5 x 14 page.  I have also printed it in 8.5 x 11 format.  Tonight it will only print in the smaller format.  I am trying to print this to send it to a national organization, and they only accept the larger format.
I have tried printing it to "FIT" using the larger paper designation, but I get the smaller print.  I have tried the next option (can't see it right now, more details to follow), but it didn't work either.  When I use any of these options they all show (after I change to the larger paper designation) that they plan to print on the whole page, but when I hit print, it doesn't again.
I looked through the online help and found something that suggested there was a place for me to enter the percentage that I wanted to print it at, but I don't have that option on 10.1.4.  The paper is very expensive so printing the wrong format is not a good thing.
I have uninstalled 10.1.4 (thus cannot see what that other option is called), with the intension of downloading an older version of Reader, but the download wizard will only give me the option for 10.1.4 based on my computer configuration.  I know this is a neat option, so we don't get the wrong one, but I have used several versions on this computer in the past and I would like to get one of them back on it.  No sense in installing 10.1.4 again, becaues it does not work.
    Can amyone help me?

  • PDF docs prints black boxes instead of my pictures, Printing with Reader works

I have one user running the most updated version of Adobe Acrobat 9 (v9.4.5 I believe it is) and when she opens a PDF document that has pictues you can see the pictures and make changes to the document as needed.  However, when you go to print, all the images in the PDF document are all Black boxes.
Now if I open this same file in Adobe Reader (any version thus far has worked) the images are there and print preview and printing all work, the images print.  It is just in Adobe Acrobat that I have black boxes.
I would really rather not uninstall / reinstall if it can be avoided.
    thanks,
    Willie IT

  • Problem printing with Reader 9.4.5 and 10

I recently upgraded to Windows 7.  I have a Cannon Pixma iP4300 printer and have installed the Windows 7 driver that I downloaded manually from the Cannon website.  The test page prints on this printer, as do Office files and images.  When I print a PDF, a sheet feeds into the printer, one pass of the print heads is made, and no further progress occurs.  I have allowed over 10 minutes to pass, but no further printing occurs.  The document is shown as printing in the printer queue, and the Cannon printer status window also indicates that printing is in progress.  No error messages are reported.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled (separately) 10 and 9.4.5 and still have the same problem.  Any suggestions?

I do a lot of graphic design work which means I work with a lot of fonts, 4880 to be exact. Since 2005 I have found a number of fonts that simply quit working with Windows Vista vs XP 7 vs Vista, and even in Mac OS X from one build to another. It also happened with Software like Acrobat, Reader, TurboTax, Firefox, and Office.
It may just be that this particular font no longer meets compatibility standards for Reader X.

    The Document contains a link like WWW.heise.de and is printing like X X X /I f jtf /ef
Open the Document and printing works fine.

    Hi,
I am not able to reproduce the issue. Could you please share the document with which you are facing the issue.
Also tell me more about the environment e.g Operating System. Is this problem occurring only on printing from the context menu ?

  • Cannot print with Reader 8.1.1 - But other (pdf) software can !

I opened a pdf document with Acrobat Reader v8.1.1 and tried to print it.
When I click OK in the print dialog then
immediately a dialog pops up informing me:
"Unable to start print job. Is printer available?"
Of cause it is available. I just selected it in the drop down menu!
I tried to start the print several times - without success.
The same bug occurs with other printers I selected.
So it must be a general printer recognition problem from Reader.
On the other side I can print the same pdf (and others) on the Laserprinter from other tools (e.g. from FoxIt Pdf tool).
So this must be a bug in Reader. Why does Reader recognize but not start the printers ?

  • Printing using Reader X

    Hi,
         according to http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/10/Acrobat10_HTMLHelp/IAC_DevApp_Architecture.99.2.h tml#1516071
I should be able to use COM intrefaces to communicate with adobe reader X.
But it looks like it's not working : is this suppose to work with Reader X or it needs Acrobat X ?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi Test Screen Name and others,
I was using a ShellExecute with "print" as the verb but, I read that the verb is not available anymore with Reader X (for security reason).
I'd than tried DDE with the server name "acroviewA10" and topic "control" but, it seems not working (I cannot connect to the Reader X application anymore).
Is there a solution to do a silent print with Reader X ?
    Thanks in advance.

  • How to allow attachments on forms saved with Reader Extensions?

I have a Livecycle developed form that includes action builder buttons to attach other documents.  When I re-save the form with 'Reader Extensions', the attach buttons no longer work.  Is there a way to allow this functionality?  How?
    Thanks.

Of course. This facility is only available with Reader extension server.  You need to apply reader Extension permissions for the form and specifically , you need to add Embedded File Attachments reader extension.

  • Printing from Reader

I'm frequently having problems printing PDF's downloaded from the web, most often statements from my LL Bean credit card account. I'll download the PDF, open it with Reader, send it to the printer, and then it just hangs up. The progress bar for the printer just keeps on scrolling and nothing gets printed. I'll then open the same PDF in Preview (Mac OS Mavericks 10.9.1and it will print fine).
Can anyone offer any suggestions as to why I'm having a problem printing with Reader?
    Thanks!

    Michael, thanks for your suggestion.
I tried deleting the preferences as well as all of Adobe Reader and reinstalled. Same problem!
I am having a hard time believing that it's the printer subsystem since it prints fine using Apple Preview. If I can't get a solution in a reasonable time, I will probably scrap Adobe Reader altogether and stick with Preview.

  • What are the security settings to lock down a form with fillable fields and yet allow someone with Reader to fill in the fields as will as save the form and print it?

What are the security settings to lock down a form with fillable fields and yet allow someone with Reader to fill in the fields as will as save the form and print it?

You want to allow someone to open your document and fill out the form (in the fields you have created), but not change or edit the form, right? Here's the answer - assuming you are using Acrobat Pro and someone will be opening the PDF using at least Acrobat Reader 9 and up:
Tools > Protection > Encrypt < Encrypt with Password
Answer YES to change the security.
    A new window opens:
Do NOT select Document Open (or that will require a password to open the document.)
Select: Permissions (Check the box next to "Restrict editing and printing of the document.")
Change the following 2 settings from the drop-down box:
              Printing Allowed: Select High Resolution
Changes Allowed: Select Commenting, filling in form fields, and signing signature fields
Leave selected: "Enable text access for screen reader devices for the visually impaired"
Change Permissions Password (insert a strong password)
Leave all other settings alone in "Options"
              OK - OK
Re-enter the Permissions Password (the one you entered above)
              OK - OK
Save the PDF to apply the security [notice that (SECURED0 will appear after the document title]

  • Print - save as pdf with Aplescript

    Hello,
I would like to know how to script : "Print" with a "save as pdf" on application.
ie: I would like to print a web page from Safari, and select save as pdf to save the page in a pdf format document.
(I don't want to use Adobe...)
    Thanks a lot.

I realized that it still might be a little confusing to figure out how to use that Automator action. So I will give you a step-by-step of mine.
Get Specified URLs->Download URL as PDFs(this is the action I linked before)(Note: I set the where to a temporary folder where no other file will ever be)->Pause for 5 seconds->Move Finder Items(Select a destination folder where you want to have your PDF in permanently)->Run Applescript (A)-> Run Applescript (B) -> Run Applescript (C)
    Applescript (A)
--For whatever strange reason when you create the PDF it names it some random name so I rename the PDF after the current date in the YYYYMMDD format so that you can easily find the PDF on a later date.
    on run {input}
repeat with i from 1 to (count of items in input)
    tell application "Finder"
set thisItem to (item i of input as string)
set thisName to (the name of (file thisItem))
set newName to (do shell script "date '+%Y%m%d'" & ".pdf") as string
set the name of the file thisItem to newName
    end tell
    end repeat
    return input
    end run
    Applescript (B)
--This script deletes the file from the original downloaded location. You have to do this because the previous applescript renamed the PDF and copied it to a new location.
    do shell script "rm /path/to/file/that/was/set/in/the/DownloadURLsasPDF/action/*.pdf"
    Applescript (C)
    --Prints the PDF
    set theLocation to ("path:to:new:location")
set fileName to (do shell script "date '+%Y%m%d'" & ".pdf")
set theFile to theLocation & fileName as text
    tell application "Finder"
    print file theFile
    end tell
I hope this works for you. I use it every day to save a PDF of stock reports. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
