Save or save as diplay in menu or ribbon

Hello,   why isn't there an icon to save or Save in the ribbon?  Why is it necessary for me to shift, ctrl + x to get there or use the full menu click choices.   The Save As or Save icon in the ribbon should be enabled.

I do not currently have Reader X or XI installed, but I am quite sure there was a Save icon in the Toolbar.  I can check on Monday.

  • How do you put Save as back in the File menu?

I know under File the "save as" is gone. I also know that if you push the option key it will show up under the File menu until you take your finger off the option key. What I want to know is how can you get the "save as" back under the file menu without pushing another key. I had someone tell me how to do it in Mavericks but I can't seem to remember how he told me to do it. I appreciate any help here!
I'm on a 13" MacBook Pro with Retina and running Yosemite.
    Thanks

You can try this or do a Google search to find alternatives.

  • Acrobat Pro "save as" function in the file menu does not show the current directory of the file

I have installed CC but Acrobat Pro gives me headaches.
The "save as" function in the file menu does not show the current directory of the file but something I have worked on in the past.
It forces me to navigates through my hard disk for this very straightforward thing in normal conditions. I precise: Acrobat is the only software reacting like that.
    I use Windows7 professional 64bits.

I use what seems to be the latest version available on the Cloud:
To illustrate my point, I open a directory with explorer and double-click on the only PDF in there:
    So here it is, open:
When I do a "Save as", it takes me to a totally different place on the disk!
    Very annoying...
    Thanks for your time!

  • How do i get "save as" on my drop down menu

I just got a mac. I am extremely new to this and realized there isn't a save as feature under the file menu. I learned that you must press option and it will appear. Is there anyway I can keep the "save as" permanently on the drop down?? Thanks!!

Pages 09 (4.3) has no Duplicate command on its menu. with or without the option key depressed.
Pages 5.2 also has no Duplicate command in its menu, with or without the option key depressed.
I believe that yours has so, are you using a different version, or not using Mavericks (as I am)
    Why the differences?

  • I'm using Firefox version 3.6 on my '02 Mac G4. When I installed it, it worked fine, But then all of a sudden the "save" and "save as" windows stopped coming up at all when I selected "save" anywhere in Firefox. What happened and how do I fix it?

I downloaded and installed Firefox on my '02 Mac G4. It worked great. Now I have version 3.6. But my weird problem is one day when I ran it, the "save" and "save as" windows stopped popping up at all. I'd left click a picture and select "save as" and nothing would happen. I'd go to the menu and select "save" and still no window would pop up. It would just act as if nothing had been clicked. No loading icon or anything and no "save as" window. I've never been able to get it to work. The volunteer in the live support chat typed "That IS weird.." I tried his suggestion but it did nothing. I may have deleted the plist preferences file in the preferences library folder to get it started again after a freeze up threw it out of whack but I've never had this happen before. And i've tried doing that again to see if that would restore it. But the plist always regenerates itself and the "save as " window still never appears when I run Firefox. The "save" window works just fine in every other program on my Mac, but not in Firefox. Weird..

  • How to disable "Open, Save and Save As" prompt

    I'm using IE 10.
I'd like to disable the prompt "Open, Save or Save as". Each time I tried to any document (ex. DOC or PDF file), IE will popup the follow prompt: "What do you want to do with ..."
I saw there are some similar threads, but they are particular for SharePoint.
    Thank you!
    Peter

Each time I tried to any document (ex. DOC or PDF file), IE will popup the follow prompt: "What do you want to do with ..."
You might be able to add Open with... to a right-click menu.   But that will probably only help for files which are local, e.g. don't need to be downloaded.  I think the reason for the prompt is essentially to help route the download and notify
users of the fact that if they just try to open it they will be opening a temporary file.  E.g. it typically always goes into the TIF first.  You could probably confirm and refine these ideas using ProcMon, e.g. looking for tests of registry
    values and writes of files.
For example, I just did a BING search for  filetype:doc, did a right-click Open (as one of the other thread's responders had suggested) and still see the above prompt, because the file has not been downloaded yet.  That's IE's job so that's how
it does it, with a prompt.  But then since there is a filetype association for the .doc extension when I choose Open no more intervention is required (although as the prompt notes "The file won't be saved automatically." so if a user tries to update it,
e.g. a Word document or a spreadsheet, anything they do would only be preserved if they did a File Save As... or whatever those applications provide for that use case.)
In fact, that warning is probably the main reason for the prompt when such an explicit Open command is given.  It would be interesting to see if IE could take advantage of some information left in the filetype that would indicate that it wouldn't matter
if the file was temporary because it couldn't be reused anyway--for example, if the program associated with the open action could not update the file, examples being Acrobat Reader and WordViewer.   Again, I think the simplest way to find out would
be to trace what happens and make changes to try to exploit the possibilities implied by the trace.
On another tack you could see if there are any hints or tips given by using
FileTypesMan  from NirSoft.  E.g. it might help you find some particular values to try for EditFlags and BrowserFlags  (some obscure registry values which are somewhat obsolete but may still have at least some of their original
    effect).

  • Indesign CS5 won't Save or Save as..

I have recently installed Mac OSX 10.6.3  (snow_leopard) onto my iMac and now for some reason Indesign CS5 will not save or save as.
It allows me to selecteither of them in the menu but nothing happens at all. If i try to close the document after making changes it just closes without asking if i want to save and i lose all the changes.
I have also gone to the extent of doing a clean installation  of the OS & CS5 with no difference whatsoever.
Any ideas would be extremely helpful..
    Thanks

go back to Replace Your Preferences to get the paths to the folders in your user library, then try moving the entire folders to the desktop and restart ID.
If it's still not working, John Hawkinson has mentioned some other files that seem to be involved when it works in one user and not another, but you'd have to do a search here as I don't know the names and locations for all of them (I'm on Windows). I think he's suggested these at least twice in the last month or so, so they should come up.

  • "save"or "save as"?

Why have I suddenly lost the facility to "save"or "save as"?  [email protected] using 56 on a Mac.
    Please answer by email...

It would really help if you describe exactly what you're doing, and how the result differs from what you expect.
...it has not solved the problem.
You really haven't explained what the problem is. Here are some questions you leave open:
Have you tried following Peter's advice in post #1?
Can you see the Save.. and Save As.. commands in the menu, and are they active/available (not 'grayed out')?
What happens when you try to save or save as?
Have you tried using the keyboard commands (Cmd+S, Cmd+Shift+S)?
How can you tell whether your work has or has not been saved?
Does it happen with one file, certain files, new files, old files, converted files, all files...?

  • Disabling "Save" or "Save As"  option

When someone listens or watches media in QuickTime, whether from my websites or if I send them a file, it gives them an option of Saving it.
Any idea how I can disable the Save or Save As option when someone opens an audio video file in QuickTime?
    I couldn't find a thread/answer anywhere...
    Thank you,
    L

O.K. Here's the deal in regard to publishing via iWeb.
iWeb only uses the QuickTime browser plug-in and anything beyond its basic features would require some "hand editing" of the Published pages. This wouldn't be very hard to do since all of the files can be found on your iDisk. But editing a published page doesn't change the information stored inside the iWeb app. Each time you re-publish an existing page you'll need to make the changes again.
    Sounds very complicated, doesn't it?
Here are the steps for iWeb version 2:
Open the special javascript file using any "plain text" editor (TextEdit set to plain text is enough). This .js file is made for each page that holds QuickTime content and your Welcome page uses this one:
    http://web.me.com/loriraemartin/www.AudioGirlProductions.com/Welcome_files/Welco me.js
If you click the link you'll see the "gibberish" code in your browser. Take a look at the code and then use your browser to save it. Make sure it keeps the .js file extension.
Now you have a local copy of the Welcome.js file on your machine. Open TextEdit and set its preferences to "plain text" and then open the .js file.
You'll see three different lines of code that hold a link to your QuickTime file. All you need to do is use some simple copy/paste routine to add a new line of code to the three html tag code.
    <param name="kisokmode" value="true" />
Copy the text I've posted above. Add it to the three locations in the .js file just before the closing "object" tag and save the file.
Use the Finder Go menu to mount your iDisk. Open the Web/Sites/iWeb folder and then the sub folder that holds your Welcome page. You'll see the Welcome.js file in there.
Use the Finder and drag and drop to move the new .js file to the same folder that holds the old one. When prompted that the file already exists click the "Replace" button to upload the new file.
To test the page visit your Welcome page again and "reload" it in your browser to get the "new" version. Test the page to make sure things work as expected and then move on to the next page (folder and javascript file) and add the new code as many times as needed to it. If your page holds multiple QuickTime files you'll need to add the code to any line that holds an object tag.
Lots of work that may seem daunting to a novice iWeb user. Since iWeb didn't change much with the introduction of iLife '11 these steps may be the only way to get the kisokmode tag into your pages.

  • Save and Save As options are greyed out

I have an install of Adobe X Standard. An external source is sending in PDFs which are marked as Secured. However, according to the creator of these documents, only editing has been locked down, not Save or Save As functionality. When I open the document, all Edit functionality, as well as Save and Save As are greyed out.
This is a new install of Adobe X. These documents could previously be saved using the same version of Adobe, but that machine needed to be re-installed due to OS instability. After re-installing Windows 7, then Adobe X, then updating to 10.1.13, these functions are now missing. I have no idea as to why. Does anyone know what might be causing this? Again, I've verified with the original creating that Save functionality shouldn't be disabled.

There is no security setting that locks out save/save as.
Save is greyed out when a file has not yet been changed, so that is normal. Save AS should not be greyed out at all. Don't know why that should happen.

  • SAVE or SAVE AS a DNG in Photoshop CS5?

I have gotten two different responses from Adobe as to wheter the DNG file format should be an option for saving in Photoshop CS5.  Looking at some of the help topics it appears that it should be, and I chatted with a rep from Adobe who stated that the option should be there.  The Adobe Rep gave me the number to call for tech support.  I called tech support (sounded like I was talking to someone in India) to determine why my installation was not giving me that option.  Initially tech support stated that it should be an option, then he went off (put me on hold) to see how we could fix the problem.  When he came back, he said I should just use the Adobe RAW file extension and that DNG is not a saving option.
Can anyone else confirm whether or not I should be able to use the SAVE or SAVE AS command to save a file in the DNG format?

Save your file as a tiff file, to keep all the data. In photoshop use the file>open as. In the file type drop down box, select camera raw as the type. Select your tiff file and your tiff will load into camera raw. Now at the box left of the camera raw dialog box, select the save as button. In the pop up window you can now select dng for the file type.

  • Save and Save As do not work

    Hi all,
i'm feeling really stupid asking this question, but after an import from Data Dictionary (from an Oracle 9i Database) y can see the tables, relationships, etc, but when trying to Save (or Save As) and setting the right values on the "file/directory browser" dialog box, nothing happens.
I'm using the Mac version (Modeler 3.0.0 build 665). I've tried with the Mac and Oracle look and feel and nothing.
The stranger thing is that at some point this worked and then deleted the imported model because it was taken from the wrong database (not production).
After deleting the imported model, the tool seems to not be able to save anymore? I checked briefly the version control funcionality but it is disabled now (provides SVN, i use GIT).
I'm almost sure i'm doing something wrong (it's unlikely this is a bug of the tool).
    Two more things:
    1) if i start a new model, i cannot save either.
    2) i've re-installed many times (deleted the file from the Applications folder and extrated it again from the tar.gz). Same results.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi!
FIRST: sorry i didn't answer before (my profile is supposed to alert me when something is posted to this thread, it didn't happen).

  • Can Save and Save As dialog boxes be modified to show fewer file type options in CS3?

I'm looking to simplify the choices for the Save and Save As commands to the just the formats that I use on a regular basis to make some repetitive file processing tasks go faster. Is this possible?
    Thanks for your help.

Scripting can save to Folders relative to the File’s location or to absolute Folder-paths, so that may be beneficial in Your case.
Scripting can also amend the name a File is saved as, one could even number copies progressively.
It’s naturally easiest (to create, at least) to make one Script per file-format/target-location/name-change, because otherwise creating a dialog is necessary.
The thing I have to admit here, though, is that it would probably take a little time to grasp the matter (JavaScript specifically) – so if You should be under time-pressure already it may not be very useful in the short run.
