Saving a query in Bex Portfolio

Hi all,
I am new to this portal thing, But i need some advice from you.
I am running a query from BW(writing a query in query designer and execute on web)which publishes it on portal. When i see the query, i see i save as button at the top and so i went there and i saw that i can save the query to bex portfolio ( which actually is my primary aim to get the query in left navigation panel of the page of BI or Bex). When i try to save under the Bex Portfolio its aske me for description so I put in some logical name and hit ok. But then it gives me two errors
"the technical name must be between 0-30 chars and 1-9 numbers" which I have it in the same format
"no valid element selected".
I am not getting what does it mean by valid element not selected.?
Can some one help me how can i save the query in BEX portfolio.
If any one has a related document which helps with issues about this whole query execution on portal I will highly appreciate it.

I have the same problem as you and I didn't find any OSS note for that.
It seems that it depends in the user. If your user id contains a decimal point at the second position, you have the problem. If not it seems to be ok.
As we have many users with a decimal point at the second position, I have to find a solution. Thanks to give me your solution if you have one.

Unknown Error while saving the query to My Portfolio

Hi,
We have a report published on the portal and users are accesing these reports completely through portal. After running the report user is trying to save the report to My Portfolio on the portal and it is giving an error as "Unknown Error". Anybody who faced this particular error, please give your suggestion.

Hi Mike,
Please follow the following steps to resolve the issue:
a. Identify the list of users who are getting the unknown error while saving to My Portfolio
b. Provide a role called COM.SAP.IP.BI.Business_Explorer_Showcase
c. Once the role is provided to the users, they will get a new tab called Business Explorer in the portal and ask them to click on that tab and then click on My Portfolio button in the subsequent screens
d. Once the user clicks the My Portfolio tab this will create the KM folders in the backend for the users to save the report at the run time
e. Once this is done, ask the user to log off and log in again in to the portal
f. There after users will be able to save the queries to My Portfolio
g. Once this is resolved ask the security team to remove the COM.SAP.IP.BI.Business_Explorer_Showcase role (this role need not be given for a long time).Points.

Getting Brain Error while saving the query--Need Immediate solution

I designed query like this.
G/L account structure is defined in Rows. Before explaining about columns Let me Explain u about my ORG structure.
Company codes are defined in R/3 like this.
Company Code
1000 for Local Currency(HSL01)
2000 to 7000,IEL for group Currency(KSL01).
Iu2019m extracting the data as it is from R/3 to DSO and again by writing routine I splitter the data for months(EX: HSL01 is ApriL,Hsl02 May,u2026u2026u2026u2026u2026u2026.KSL01 April, KSL02 may,u2026u2026u2026. Upto to 16 periods) this is R/3 data. This data I differentiated based upon currency types. If currency type is 10 then Local Currency 30 Means Group Currency.
Again Iu2019m receiving the data from Flat Files for subsidiaries(IEAI,IEG,IEEL,ISSCI,IHAL,TTM-US,TTM-INDIA,TTIT). This data I loaded first into DSO by writing Routine at field Level for G/L account to convert G/L Descriptions into Numbers.
After that I loaded data from first DSO to Second DSO by writing to convert respective currencies into INR and again loaded to cube by Direct mapping.
Again Iu2019m receiving the eliminations data from R/3 through Ztable. This also Iu2019m extracting from R/3 and loaded into dso and again into cube.
Now I will Explain about my Report.
In Columns I defined 3 selections for each month. U can observe that in Document. Like that for each month Iu2019m getting three selections and for subsidiaries 2 selections for each month. If we observe total Iu2019m getting 13 selections for India and 9 selections for each subsidiary. If subsidiaries increase I need to increase selections, automatically columns will increase. Now for Q4 2 new subsidiaries are added I need to added. After adding and while saving the query then only Iu2019m getting brain error.
Could any one sort out this.

Diagnosis
Query ZQ3_MISGRPSUMMARYREPORT_010209 contains 8192 differing selection cells. However, only 8191 selection cells can be processed in a query.
Procedure
Please simplify query definition ZQ3_MISGRPSUMMARYREPORT_010209.
This was the error i'm getting. How to simplify this....

Restrict authorization for saving BI query bookmark on BEx Portfolio

Hi experts,
I would like to find a way to control the saving query bookmark functionality on BEx Portfolio. The problem is that every BI user can save in the BEx Portfolio which is observable to every user at global level. Is there a functionality to restrict the authorization so that only Power users are allowed to save bookmarks under BEx portofolio and where as non power user are allowed to access them

Problems with URLs generated for My/BEx Portfolio in a FPN

Has andone successfully configured a FPN that uses My/BEx Porfolio?
We are facing a problem with the URLs generated when launching a BEx web query stored in either My Portfolio or BEx Portfolio after it has been saved from the BEx Web Analyzer. After saving the KM document in My/BEx Portfolio in BEx Analyzer attempts to execute the link from the Portfolio IView result in "Page not found or not avaialble". The KM document appears to be correct as it can be opened correctly from the BEx Analyzer template.
Current Setup:
Consumer Portal: EP 7 (SP17)
Producer Portal: EP 7 (SP17 patch 11)
BW System: BI 7 (SPS16, BW SP18)
SSO and Trusts are configured and working.
WebDav is configured to store BEx Portfolio entries on the Consumer
Currently RSPOR_T_PORTAL is configured with hostname of Producer, however it was initially configured with Consumer host, resulting in the same problem, though this should not matter, as the RDL IView is used regardless of the setup.
Scenario:
Existing Roles have been imported from BW System into Producer Portal, the roles are not used, only the imported IViews
IViews of the Queries have been included in Consumer Roles using RDL
IView has been added to this role to display local BEx Portfolio links
RDL IView has been added to this role to display Producer My Portfolio links
1. Launch IView of Query included in Role
2. Use Save As functionality to store KM document in My Portfolio or Bex Portfolio
3. Open the cooresponding Portfolio IView and click on the link

Do you wish to know more about BEx Portfolio or all these items?
That help link explains many things, in addition to that...
New Analysis is the new as-hoc navigation, created by slicing and dicing in the query/wad output.
Open is opening of already saved navigation created earlier.
Save as is for specifying where you wish to save your present state of navigation so that later you don't have to drill down and filter again.
Information is about query, filters and other technical details about the query.
Send is used for broadcasting reports. (you'll find many docs about broadcasting on SDN)
Print is a button with PDFprint. In WAD you can select item on your layout to be printed.
Export Excel is for taking data to an excel file for more cell level analysis (Finance ppl love that)
Comments is another web item for putting comments from users on info object level for that particular report.
Saving can be done at various please and same way open will show you those locations on tabs favorites,BEx Portfolio,My portfolio. These portfolios are on Portal side, created as different folders. According to your user rights accessibility you can see those view in your portal login.

How to customize the Save as dialog Box for saving Web Query???

we are usnging SAP NW Portal and BI 7.0 (SP14).
We have published BI web queries in the Portal and it works just fine, now when the User select the Button "Save As" in the Context Menu of any web query, this will open a new Dialog Box name "Save As Dialog Box", so from this dialog box the user can select where to save the query, he/she have 3 options* to save qureies: My Favorites, Bex Portfolio and MyPortfolio, this also works fine.
My Quetsion is: How can i customize the View of this "Save As" dialog box, so at the end the User can only select 2 Options: My Favorites + MyPortfolio. So how to hide the Tab: Bex Portfolio in the Dialog Box.
Points for any good answer.

In what you have posted, there is no reason it shouldn't work the same way in Acrobat 9. I would recommend that you submit your complete application to developer support.

Saving a query takes long time

Hi
i have developed a query on the AR cube. This query has a 36 month structure and about 5 key figures. Since the key figures are inter dependant, I am using the cell formulas in the structure.
Till Friday i had no problem in saving the query after changes to cell formula. But today i am unable to save the query in time. It takes more than 20 minutes and still does not save. What could be the problem in the system causing this? Could this be due to temp space problem? Any suggestions?

I think, Siggi is right.
In such situations I usually do the following:
- Hide all windows (Show desktop icon)
- CTRLALTDEL - Task Manager
- Close Task Manager
The popup window from BEx should be on the screen.

Open_save_dialog_layout , remove Bex Portfolio tab

We are using
<bi:open_save_dialog_layout with value="TEMPLATE_PERSISTENCY"/>
from 0Analysis_pattern.
I want to remove the Bex Portfolio tab.
and I don't want to use value="DATAPROVIDER_PERSISTENCY"
We tried restricting access thru KM, but the tab still appears.
Is there another command Data Provider Command for Calling Save?

if u try to restrict acess thru km folder
the tab will be there, but can you check that eventhough tab is there , are u able to save the view or not....
there might be possible it will not let u save or open the view saved there
did u contact portal administrator
he can definitely help you in doing management of km folders
you can create your own buttons which will do save and save as and in order to that ....you have to create web templates and u need to use web application designer....
in web application designer u can use button_command_item
then you can create the option which willdo Save and Save as option...

Folders are not visible in BEx Portfolio tab of Save As popup window

when I try to save a report in BEx Web Analyzer by open Save As popup window, I can't see any folders in neither of Favorites, BEx Portfolio nor My Portfolio tabs, even though I've created some directories in "/documents/Public Documents" for example. I can only see the list of already saved reports.
What needs to be done to be able to the folders in Save As (or Open) popup window?

Right click and delete when you're in the "open" dialog in Analyzer.

Problems in Saving a query

Hai all,
I created a query in development server and trying to save it. But I am getting the following errors:
1. The query could not be saved due to a problem in transport
2. BEx transport request '' is not available or not suitable
3. Choose an existing request
When I am ssaving the query, the system is not prompting for any workbench request. Do I need to create a request for BEX? or I am making any mistake?

There are several ways
1> Create a request in SE09 and then when you will save the query system will give the request you created in SE09 also system will ask for the Package name give the correct package name.
2> while saving the query system will automatically ask for the request if you have not created any request already in SE09 then say create and the follow the same procedure.
3> Transport connection in RSA1 you can use this if your query already SAVED in $TMP .
You can follow any of these but in your case only first two are applicable.
I will suggest you to after following any one from 2 go in transport connection and check whether all elements are assigned to request or not.

Bex Portfolio location in KM

Does anyone know of a way to change the location of the Bex Portfolio in KM? Currently it points to /documents/Public Documents. We would like to move it to another location in KM. I know how I can change the Bex Portfolio iview to point to another KM folder but that would not effect where KM bookmarks are saved from a web template using the SAVE_AS command with OPEN_SAVE_DIALOG_LAYOUT=TEMPLATE_PRESISTENCY.

Where are Bex-web favorits and Bex portfolio stored

At the moment we use the portal and I views to execute queries. After executing you can add your own filters, drag and drop object, key figures, etc.........
SAP offers to save this variant as a Bex-portfolio(available for all users) or favorit(available only for user who created the favorit) in the portal. I have seen that this favorit or Bex-portfolio is saved in the portal but has a size of 0 Bytes. Does anybody knows where the favorit of Bex-portfolio is saved? and is it possible to show these variants in SQL?(Like it is possible to show queryviews in SQL which are created in the Bex-analyzer)
