Saving a web page including images for offline viewing

Yes, I can view and save the HTML for a web page. But is there a utility or technique which will enable me to pull all the images and enable me to view the page without distortion when offline?
G5 iMac 1.8Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Hi Morley!
This may work for some web pages, but not all.
Navigate to the webpage.
From the browser File menu, select Save As.
In the window that opens, enter a new title if desired, save to Desktop, and at Save as:, select HTML Complete.
When completed, click once on the html file, not the folder that contains the images, to highlight.
Depress the  Command + I keys, to Get Info.
Click the Contextual Triangle for Open with:.
Select TextEdit.
The page should now open on your Desktop.
This may not work for all websites.
You can trash the image folder if you want.

  • It appears that Revel can't be used for offline viewing

If I have my iPad airplane mode on, I am unable to view photos or if the photo is displayed it is very very blurry.  I concluded that Revel must have an internet connection, which also means that it will eat into my data plan and since it appears the photos are not stored on my iPad, viewing photos is slower and will also be slower if there is an internet connection but is a slow internet connection.
Am I correct on all counts?

    Hello,
You do need an wifi connection to download thumbnails for previewing your images in Revel on your Ipad. When you view your photos with out a wifi connection, Revel will show you a cached thumbnail of the image but its not the full resolution. To see the full resolution of the image, you do need to be connected to the wifi as Revel downloads and caches the full resolution of the image from the cloud service.
I tested this as I viewed an album of photos, clicked on a 5 out of 7 images and viewed them in loupe view(single image). These images showed the full resolution, then turned off the wifi on the ipad.  The remaining 2 images still did show but did show a bit blurry. This is because I did not view the image in loupe view to download the thumbnail.  I then turned back on the wifi and viewed the image again as Revel was able to view the image in the full resolution. I hope that didn't sound to confusing. If you view your images in single loupe view this will cache the image for offline viewing. Granted its best to be connected to wifi as it does not take too long to download the images.
let me know if you have any other questions
    Thanks
    Scott

  • Can I save multiple web pages for offline viewing?

I'm just about to head off on a big trip and there's a great travel website that I'd like to save.
I dimly remember in the early 2000s it was possible to save an offline version of a webpage and specify how many depths of links also to save, i.e. you could save a page, all the linked pages on that page, all the linked pages on those linked pages and so on.
I'd really like to do that so I can access this website and one layer of (internal) links for offline viewing.
I'm on a Macbook Pro with 10.6.8 with Safari 5.1.10 (but can access a MB Air with 10.9.x if need be).
    Any help appreciated!

try the newer version, since the 10.6 one at least doesn't handle depth (limits : levels in the preferences) very sensibly for saving webpages.

  • Firefox freezes frequently when saving a web page.

    Hello.
Around 80% of chances when I'm saving a web page, Firefox freezes and nothing works (such as close tabs, reload the page, etc), what I have to do is open the Task Manager and end the process of FF then restart it.
I have this problem for a long time after using FF 4.0 beta (include the latest beta 11), as the beta will end soon. I would like to ask if anyone having this problem too?

See the [[Unable to download or save files]] article that could covers your issue.

hello there! i am using Adobe acrobat pro DC and using windows 8.1. Recently I was trying to convert a web page (includes Greek letters) into PDF. I noticed that the conversion is not accurate, some words are missing, some are misplaced. Especially Greek words are not accurately converted or even not converted. Please give me some suggestions to improve this issue. Regards

    Hey quantum info,
Thank you for posting at Adobe forums. We would love to help you out.
Could you please let me know if you have tried converting other web pages to PDF and checked if the same issue persists.
How have you been trying to convert the web page to PDF?
Are you trying to convert to PDF directly via browsers or using "File > Create > PDF from Web Page"  option in Acrobat.
Let me know more so that I can analyze where actually the issue persists.
    Hope to hear from you.
    Regards,

  • Keeping copies of my messages including the attachments for offline viewing  will use up my memory drive?, keeping copies of my messages including the attachments for offline viewing  will use up my memory drive?

I just re set-up my MacBookAir and it works veeeery slow. I did install the email accounts as IMAP and I choose as an option to keep copies of my messages including the attachments for offline viewing. Is that what slows down my computer?
I wonder because, even though I have little data saved on this computer, if I go to "Finder" / "Search for" / "All photos" appear 7,883 items (looks like there are all the attachments from my email messages...)

Thanks a lot Jason. So, cache them locally means that it saves them on my hard drive? I do have a lot of files and large multimedia attachments.
You say my machine will be  sluggish until this is done... Shall I understand that soon enough this problem will disappear? If not, will any of the next actions help?:
    - choose to keep copies of my messages for offline viewing but omit attachments
    - select "All the photos" from "Search in" in "Finder" and send them to Trash (will this command delete the attachments also from my emails server? and all the photos already saved on my computer in folders?)
    - waiting until my machine finished the "indexing" (Whatever what that means...)
Thank you for getting back to me as you can,
    Camelia

  • Just subscribed to Acrobat for $19.99/year to be able to use expanded pdf manipulation features. From left hand window I signed in successfully. However when I try to use a feature like export to Word doc I am sent to Web page to subscribe for more money.

Just subscribed to Acrobat for $19.99/year to be able to use expanded pdf manipulation features. From left hand window I signed in successfully. However when I try to use a feature like export to Word doc I am sent to Web page to subscribe for more money.  I thought I had already paid for access to these features by subscribing for the $19.99? What features did this $19.99 allow me if NOT to edit or export PDF files?

Please check the name of what you subscribed to. You say "Acrobat" but that isn't $19.99/year. Unfortunately Adobe have products which do the same thing and need to be used in different ways.

  • What is an easy web-page creation program for use with MacBook Pro?

Can anyone suggest an easy web-page creation program for use with MacBook Pro?  I have used FrontPage with my PC, but am changing to a MacBook Pro.

It largely depends on your skill level. Do you want to write web page code, or do you want to just design something and have it turn into a web page automatically?
If you are more of a designer, try these:
    RapidWeaver
    Freeway Pro
    Muse
If you want to write web page code, try these:
    Coda
    BBEdit
    Dreamweaver
If you really don't want to write the code and want the best experience for your viewers, and you want to spend the least amount of time on it, my recommendation is:
    No program at all.
Instead, sign up with a web site company like:
WordPress.com (hosted by them) or WordPress.org (hosted on your server)
    Squarespace
    Wix
The reason is that these companies have fully operational, nicely designed web site templates that you just fill in with your words and pictures, and they are ready to go. They also give you these benefits:
Already designed to the latest web standards
    Already designed to resist hackers
Already designed to work on all browsers
Already designed to automatically adjust the page for readability on desktop, laptop, tablet, and smartphone screen sizes
    Already designed for accessibility
Already designed for Search Engine Optimization so that your page will be found on Google
Already designed with social media links built in if you want
It is not like the old days where you build a site in Front Page and you assume it will only be seen on a desktop computer. If you build it yourself with a web page program, do you have the knowledge to make a site that works on all of the different web browsers and mobile devices, and is friendly to search engines and social media? If you don't have those skills, working with a website company can be a lot better, faster, and more reliable than trying to hammer all of that out yourself using code in some app.

  • Excel workbook saved as web-page - In IE it displays correctly (eg all non-hidden columns) - In Firefox it displays what I expect, plus the first of what should be a series of hidden columns

I saved an Excel workboob as a web-page - In IE 8 it displays exactly as I want (that is all visible, non-hidden columns) - In Firefox 10 it displays the same, ''plus'' the ''first'' of what should be a series of'' hidden columns'' - Why would Firefox see a hidden column which IE doesn't - I'm working on XP (fully up-to-date with all patches applied)

Thanks fmdeveloper as a result of you confirming that it is an FF bug I delved deeper into it and I've now found a fix as follows:-
    1) Unhide Excel columns, format cells to ;;;
    2) From first re-formatted col to rightmost end of all cols select & hide
When saved as web page this then displays in FireFox as it does in IE
NB: After re-formatting previously hidden cols it is necessary to hide '''all''' the remaining cols or there will be a display of blank cols in FF where garbled 'hidden entries' were seen previously

Changing body text is not simple. It's a desperate last resort. You need to buy the exact font. Acrobat will not let you edit in a font you don't own. Even then, it's undertain. Consider preparing an overlay in InDesign.

  • Adobe TV Video Tutorials: how to download for offline viewing?

How do I download Photoshop CS6 video tutorials from Adobe TV for offline viewing ?

It depends on which browser you have.  If you are using Safari, post in their forum area.
If using FireFox, use one of there many (hundreds) YouTube video downloader add-ons.  My personal preference is the DownloaderHelper add-on.
