Saving as a PDF with Active Web Links

I need to save Word documents that have active web links in them to PDF files. When I save them to PDF, the links are no longer active. How can I save them with the web links in tact?

You need Adobe Acrobat to do this (the Professional version, not the free Acrobat Reader or the OS X Print to pdf function. The software is rather expensive, though. There are less expensive versions (Acrobat Elements) but these only run under Windows.
You can also use Adobe's online pdf creation service, which may be a better (i.e. cheaper) option.
Hope this solves your problem...

  • Help! How to e-mail a PDF (from Pages) with active web links!

I have been working on this for hours without any success! I would be so grateful for a brainy Apple wiz to help me out. I am creating a Pages document that has active web links in it. My goal is to e-mail my document with the active web links in it.
So - If I export my Pages doc as a PDF to my desktop, the links work great! However - the moment I put that PDF into an email and send it the links become inactive. Is there any way to create a Pages document with web links > Export it as a PDF > Then mail with active (clickable) links? I have tried many times without success.
If the answer to my question is no, does anyone have a tip for where I can create a PDF and mail it with active links? Will any of the Adobe programs work for this type of thing?
    Thanks so much!!
    Kristen

    Using Pages '09 v4.2.
I just tested this. Assumption: You have the “Windows friendly attachments” checked in the attachments panel.
Your Pages document is open. The web links are active. You want to get it into Mail.
From the Pages menu bar, choose Share > Send Via Mail > PDF.
Mail will open with a compose window. Your PDF will be attached as a full view document. You see the links present in the PDF.
Now, click near the web links. This shows your PDF in blue. Now right-button click, and choose View as Icon from the pop-up panel.
Now mail it to yourself on another account that Mail can open.
You will see the web links in the PDF.
Right-button click on a link and from the pop-up menu, choose Open with Safari.
If you chose Quick Look, it would pop open the PDF and offer to open it further in your default PDF viewer. In my case, it is Adobe Reader.
If Reader opens this PDF from the Mail attachment, the web links remain active.
    Does this solve your issue?

  • Retaining active web links when distilling a PDF from PageMaker.

    OS Windows 7
I have been using my Acrobat 4 since, well, forever, and as I only needed to produce PDFs for customer proofs and printing Masters. However, it was never any good at retaining active web links that were created in the original PageMaker publication.
Now however, I need to get involved in creating survey forms, so I decided to check out Acrobat 11 with a view to upgrading.
But I've had no time for forms as even with Acrobat 11 I am still unable to create active hyperlinks that remain active after distilling into a PDF. I am pretty sure I am doing it right in PageMaker by establishing a source & destination for the particular image or text I wish to use as the clickable link, so what am I missing?
And is Acrobat 11 a good tool for creating attractive and utile customer feedback surveys that I plan on making available on my site?
    TIA
    Frank

I just made test PDFs from Pages 2 & 3 on Snow Leopard & Pages 4 on Leopard 10.5.8 (I don't have earlier versions of iWork installed on my G5 iMac with Leopard) & the links all remained active & opened the designated page in Safari each time. The only suggestion I have is to make sure you have the link set as a hyperlink before exporting as a PDF.

  • Creating DVD with PDF files and web links

Hi all, first I'd like to say that these forums are a big help. I've spent DAYS scouring through topics learning. Of course, I know this opens it up for someone to post a link to a thread where my question has already been answered. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find the specific help I need and would like to open a dialogue with experts.
I am creating a marketing DVD for a product. We produced a video for it, but the client also wants the audience to have access to a large amount of research in this specific field. This exists as PDF files and links to websites.
His previous Marketing CD was just that, a CD made with FileMaker and had the files and links and only worked in PC computers. I do not want to go back in that directions.
I want to make an informative DVD with the video and a few pages of selling points and cool tricks (I discovered multilayered menus working on this!) for those viewing on TV or Computer, and then an option for Computer users to click for more info.
How do I put PDF files on the disc and how do I put web links on there?
    Thanks,
    Byron

DVDSP uses a tool called DVD@Access. It enables a user to link to URL and call such documents as pdfs. The problem is that its never was reliable - especially on the PC side of things.
There have been many of posts in the last 2 days about its use. Do a search and you'll see.
DVD was not designed with the web in mind - it was conceived long before that time. linking to "outside" documents requires a third party tool to take over.
Just beware! - in fact if your client came to me I would refuse to do the job. I've seen the problems that exist doing work like this especially if your distributing to a large audience with different OS sets ups. If one of the users has Vista you can forget about it working at all.
My suggestion would be to design a menu that tells the user the file paths to your pdfs or URLs on the disc.

  • HT1688 On my iphone 4 below the search window, I have three greyed out safari icons with different web links attached

I have a iPhone 4 8GB. I have three greyed out safari icons that doesn't say safari but a web link. It's like a bookmark to your homepage but not in your homepage.   I noticed it when I deleted all my web pages and on that one web page where it says "search or type in a address" right below it where it's just all white, there's three grey looking safari icons with each one with a different web site that's attached to it. When I tap on it it goes to a specific website. For ex one if them says www.longchamp.com, the other macys.com. There's no way to delete it. The wired thing is each one in color it like three shades of grey . Light, med and darker grey icons. When I hold down the icon you can move it around but can't delete, nothing just nothing. It's been there for the longest time I can remember. Do you know what this is? I took a pic of it. I don't know how to attach it to this discussion. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

I seem to have fixed it by putting <div  class="clearfloat"></div> after the navigation bar?

  • Exporting to PDF with hot html links

I'm trying to create a pdf document that has functioning html links. Does Pages let you do this?

To create a PDF with live links you'll need to buy a full version of Adobe Acrobat. Adobe Reader is just as titled - a reader. It will only allow reading and basic markup of pdfs.
The PDFs created through the Print menu are also very simple PDFs. Their creation is not a function of the program the original document comes from, be it Pages, Numbers, Word, Excel, Appleworks etc. It is based on the operating system using technology which is probably licensed from Adobe.
To get all the functionality available in a PDF, you've go to pay the piper - Adobe - for the software.
    Good luck,
    Terry

  • Pdf/adobe acrobat web links yield black screen

I keep all software updated as prompted, including Adobe, Mac and Word ... etc.
I run disk utilities Repair Disk Permissions each time I update or add software, and then Log Out, Shut Down or Restart ...
Is there some setting on my Mac I must adjust ?

    Back up all data.
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder... from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Copy the line of text below into the box that opens, and press return:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
If you still have the issue, repeat the above steps using this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • Using a fillable PDF with a FormsCentral Link collection.

I want to inport a fillable PDF and then use the Forms Central link distribution to collect responses vs sending out the fillable PDF with a submit button. How do I do that ?

    Good day,
Our CreatePDF service does not allow you to create fillable PDF files. You can find an overview of CreatePDF's features here: https://www.acrobat.com/createpdf/en/features.html
For this capability, you need Adobe Acrobat.
There is no upgrade path from CreatePDF to Adobe Acrobat available.
    Kind regards,
    David

  • PDFs with active hyperlinks become disabled when opened in a browser

I created pdfs with hyperlinks from Indesign CS6, and they work when opened in Acrobat. However, my client uploaded them to their website and had the pdfs open from within the browser. Then, all hyperlinks become disabled. Is there any way to force them to stay active when opened in the browser on their website, or do they have to make them "downloadable" pdfs?
    Thanks.

"Preview in Firefox" means all PDF files are processed through and rendered by the Firefox PDF viewer.
As you have noted this in-built PDF viewer is somewhat less than ready for prime time (similarly with the in-built PDF viewers available with other contemporary browsers).
Eventually these browser vendors may deploy something that actually has some greater measure of ISO 32000 compliance.
Until then always configure all browsers used to make use of what is provided with an install of Adobe Reader or Acrobat.
    Be well...

  • Saving as a PDF with a bleed...

Is it possible to save a Pages file as a PDF with a bleed to send to an offset printer?

    Hi Bezbo
    Welcome to the forum.
No. You would need to create an oversize document with crops drawn as master objects.
The printer will then need to inset their RIP software to correctly determine the page boundaries. So use a fixed 10mm or 0.375".
Be aware this is not the only limitation of Pages for commercial offset or digital printing. It is really not suitable on many key points, the main one being low resolution output (72dpi) to .pdfs with transparency, shadows or reflections. There are also no spot colors and the color management is difficult to follow, apply and determine if executed.

  • Redirect issue - attempt to retrieve PDF file via web link

    This redirect did not work.
Had to manually change the link to access the download.
    javascript:_hbRedirect('PDF%20Downloads','us/White%20Paper','http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/SNIS-7AULCP_R2_EN.pdf','&c1=Virtualization%3A%20Optimized%20Power%20and%20Cooling%20to%20Maximize%20Benefits|US-en')

I think this is done by the browser when it is saving a temporary file and there's already a file with that exact name in the temp folder.

  • PDF Portfolio - add web link to image

The layout for my pdf portfolio is an image where i want to have links to.html pages over the image.  Is that possible?
The only links that I see you can drag on the image are images or .pdfs.
    Thanks!

Open Preview, and check Help > Annotate a PDF.  It describes such things as adding a text bubble, etc.
There is no explicit way to add a link in Preview.  Preview is, after all, primarily a viewer with a few markup tools.
I happen to use a product called PDFPen which is available in the App Store to mark up PDFs.
I have no financial interest in PDFPen.  I am a reasonably satisifed customer.

  • Problem saving Reader extended PDF with Javascript functions built in

    Afternoon
I have created an interactive PDF in Livecycle with built in Javascript functionality.  I need users to be able to complete and save the PDF so have saved it as a Reader extended PDF.  The problem I'm having is that when a user completes the form, saves it, and then opens it again the Javascript functionality is not showing despite showing the original selection that the user has made.  The Javascript is simply a dropdown menu that will show a different table based on the selection so isn't anything major.
I've trawled forums and this is driving me mad so I'd appreciate some help.
I am using Adobe Pro XI.
    Thanks in advance

I have a dynamic form that I created and I need to get it posted but am having some issues.
    1. I need the fields to be optional and it tells me that the information entered is not what was expected
    2. I have a button to click that will send the completed form to a department mailbox, but when the form arrives it is a .xml and only contains the newly entered information. What did I do wrong? I saved it as a dynamic pdf.
    3. Is there a way to send you my form so that we can talk about it together???
I am on the verge of tears with frustration.....

Here is the warning message I get.  This is from the Preview PDF mode.

I have working on this since January along with many other projects (mostly presentations) and the department that this form is for is chomping at the bit because they need to track their training requests coming in and are working to shift the process of how you request training for the entire enterprise.  I am attaching the form so maybe you can take a peek at the damage I’ve done ☺  I think it would be helpful if I took a class, everything I’ve done I’ve taught myself with trial and tissues!
Thank you so very much for your advice and help I truly appreciate it!

  • Problems opening PDF files/folders/web links please help

I have Windows XP, run Internet Explorer 7 and have Adobe Reader 8.1.2.
Now please understand that I am not terribly computer literate to I will do the best I can to describe my problem.
When I click on a link on a web page that requires Adobe Reader to view the new page, the new page is opened in Microsoft Word and of course is all jumbled.
So to actually be able to open and view the page I have to right click the link, click Save As, save it to a folder, left click Open Folder then Right click the document and choose Open With Adobe Reader 8.
So my question is how can I set the computer/Adobe Reader/ or whatever to automatically open things that require Adobe Reader to be viewed to open in Adobe Reader and not Microsoft Word.
Many thanks to anybody who can help me.

I also have Windows XP, run Internet Explorer 7, and have Adobe Reader 8.1.2.
Melissa is more computer literate than I am so bear with me and provide me with all the help you can.
My problem is that when I click on a new link on a web page to view or fill up or print a document, sometimes the document or the link will open and other times it will not open at all. What can I do to rectify this problem?
