Saving in Acrobat shrinks image

Creat an image in Illustrator 15.0.2 (CS5) and Save As a pdf. Open that image in Acrobat 9.4.6 (CS5). The size indicator in the Acrobat toolbar shows the size to be 78% and it looks correct. It the size is increased to 100% or not, it prints at 78%. What's up with that? How can I correct it so it prints in the proper size. [MacBook Pro early 2011, OS 10.6.8]  Thank you

dnkcamp,
It may depend on the PDF print settings; you may have Shrink oversized pages to paper size or something.

  • How can I drag an image from a page in Safari to the finder and have it be saved as an *actual* image instead of a webloc?

    Safari used to let me drag an image from a webpage to the finder and have the dragged file be saved as an actual image but now all that's saved is a webloc file.  I want the image saved, not a reference to the image's URL - do I now have to always use "save as" to save it?
    I can understand Safari creating a webloc file if I dragged the site icon from the location bar to the finder, but to make the default behavior for dragging things that are parts of a page (not the page itself) as webloc files seems like a HUGE step backwards for usability.
    Does anyone know if there's, say, a key to hold when dragging to avoid saving a webloc file or a defaults command or something to make Safari revert back to sane draging behavior?

    Good questions...  I'll have to try and figure out when the problem first happened - I was thinking it was when I upgraded to Safari 5.1.4 but that might not be the case...  I'll try your suggestions to see if any of them eliminate the problem (I have restarted recenlty and that didn't fix it) but I'll try repairing permissions,etc.  Thanks!
    hmmm... Mcbuffy: are you implying that you *don't* get the webloc when dragging an image out of Safari and that this isn't a caused by change to Safari but is a big/conflict in mine?

  • PDFs saved in Acrobat 9 Pro can't be opened in 4...

    I have some PDFs that I've created in InDesign CS4 and they open fine in everything. If I make any small changes in Acrobat 9 Pro, say just changing the Initial View, and then doing a Save As the new file will not open in Acrobat 4.
    I'm greeted by the following error message:
    "There was an error opening this document. Could not repair file."
    I'm also experiencing scrambled text if I open the PDF in Preview.
    I've also recently had a print shop that wasn't able to handle a PDF saved in Acrobat 9, but was able to handle the same PDF saved in 8. So I was just wondering if anyone else out there has been experiencing the same issues?
    The details:
    Acrobat 9 Pro (9.1.2)
    OS X 10.4.11 PPC
    Why does the PDF have to open in Acrobat 4? Well there's no real reason it shouldn't, plus I like to see what my PDFs will look like to someone using an old program that doesn't support transparency.

    You need to use the optimizer to set the version you want the pdf to be saved as.

  • Characters truncated when saving to acrobat x

    THis is happening for a user of ours when they import data and then are saving it as a pdf. They had Acrobat 8 Std installed. I removed that and installed Acrobat X and its still happening. You can see the words Docement, From, Overdue and Frequency all have hte last, or part of the last, letter cut off. Only one year is cut off. The text in red of cut off on the edge of the page. Another user is pulling the same data and saving from Acrobat and does not have this issue. Any Ideas? I made the pixels/inch settings larger and smaller but it dodn't help...

    Thank you for pointing out the difference between suite and individual product - helpful, time- and cost-saving for me (since I almost ordered). Adobe should maybe be more specific about this in product informations about upgrades for distributors / vendors so that they can in turn inform customers. Since CS6 and Acrobat X are not in synch and my CS5 has 2 sn (one for the CS and one for Acrobat) I had not expected this.

  • IPhoto 2 shrinks images before uploading them to flickr

    The new version of iPhoto 2 shrinks images before uploading them to flickr. Now you can't use flickr to backup your orginal photos through the iphoto app.

    In fact no matter if I use a High or Medium compression size JPEG, the size after upload is the same.
    Starts with 1,5 MB/5600px (high) or 780kb/5600px (medium) JPEG and ends after upload in 115kb for a 1024px image.
    This means that iPhoto auto compress in order to publish to Mobile Me, even if we start with a bigger file.
    I hope this info is useful to others.
    Thanks.

  • Is there a way to automatically shrink images in an epub file to fit the visible screen?

    Is there a way to automatically shrink images in an epub file to automatically shrink to fit the screen in Adobe Digital Editions?  This happens automatically with the Kindle and I assume with the iPad and Nook as well.  However, the large images in the epub do not automatically shrink to fit the Adobe Digital Editions viewer. Is this an issue with the software or the epub file?
    Thanks

    Hi Ken,
    In my code i have something like that:
    public static bool IsEmbeddedAttachment(Outlook.Attachment attachment)
    //Anexos que não são embedded são obrigatóriamente olByValue, porém os embedded podem ser de qualquer tipo
    if (attachment.Type != Outlook.OlAttachmentType.olByValue)
    return true;
    //Busca a propriedade contentID do anexo. Anexos embedded não precisam necessáriamente gerar um ContentID. Anexos fixos não geram ContentID
    string strATTACH_CONTENT_ID = attachment.PropertyAccessor.GetProperty(@"http://schemas.microsoft.com/mapi/proptag/0x3712001E").ToString();
    //Busca a propriedade contentLocation. Para que o anexo seja embedded é necessario que essa propriedade esteja vazia ou nulla
    string strATTACH_CONTENT_LOCATION = attachment.PropertyAccessor.GetProperty(@"http://schemas.microsoft.com/mapi/proptag/0x3713001E").ToString();
    if (!string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(strATTACH_CONTENT_ID) || !string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(strATTACH_CONTENT_LOCATION))
    //Busca a propriedade AttachFlag se for diferente de 4 é uma imagem embedded
    if ((int)attachment.PropertyAccessor.GetProperty(@"http://schemas.microsoft.com/mapi/proptag/0x37140003") == 4)
    return true;
    if ((int)attachment.PropertyAccessor.GetProperty(@"http://schemas.microsoft.com/mapi/proptag/0x37050003") == 6)
    return true;
    if ((int)attachment.PropertyAccessor.GetProperty(@"http://schemas.microsoft.com/mapi/proptag/0x37140003") == 4)
    return true;
    return false;
    And was working very well until last week.
    I have a problem with a single email. This email attachments possess 2 PDF type files. These files are not embbed in the email, but they have the contentId property. Could you tell me why? or if its possible discovery why this happens?

  • Edit not saved in Acrobat 9

    I am using acrobat 9 at work. we are scanning jobs which have color and B&W originals when I edit an image (page) in PS the color ones after saving change to the edited version but when I edit the B&W pages they change in PS buit when you hit save they revert with no edits?
    The scans are from a Xerox scanner and the ones I can edit image are 8 bit RGB color, the B&W ones are Bitmap. I convert them to 8 bit grayscale and that is where I edit them and they change until saved, then snap back to the original image?  I have even converted them to 8 bit RGB color and the same thing occurs.
    We are in a production shop scanning archival documents and i really need a solution to this...
    Thanks
    Rob

    Make the file again, save it again. Never rely on the PDF, it's no more useful for editing than a printout, especially if you don't have hundreds of dollars to throw at the problem.

  • Scanned doc, saved as Acrobat X pdf, then edited, prints only edits not the whole saved pdf

    In PS CS5, I imported a text document from scanner. I made some edits, including some paint brush (white on white) and some text layers. I saved it as a pdf and then opened it in Acrobat X 10.0.10, then printed it. Only the text layer edits themselves printed and not the rest of the original document with the edits.I think the problem lies with Acrobat, so posted here.
    Win7 SP1

    This is bordering on breaking physical laws. In PS the only thing that prints are the changes on created layers. The original document (background) does not print along with my changes, the same output as in Acrobat. Then in PS I saved it as a jpeg. Im looking at the image of the changed document in its entirety in the photo viewer but the same thing happens as in PS and Acrobat - only my changes (new layers) print, nothing else. Thats kinda creepy...

  • Saving a series of images (from a smart camera) into an AVI file

    Hello,
    I have a lab setup in which we view brain cell deflections in a well-plate after being pressurized with air for 50ms. I have a smart camera hooked up to an IMAQ PCI card to acquire images.
    I'm trying to save the series of images into an avi file, so that I can view the deflections in a slow video.
    The way I have it set up at the moment takes an image and saves it in an avi pre-existing (some random .avi that I didn't need) format. But here are some problems:
    1. I would like for the VI to create a NEW .avi, rather than saving it into a pre-existing one.
    2. Right now, each image simply overwrites the previous one in the avi file. So the resulting avi is a 00:00 length movie with a single image (the last frame that camera viewed).
    I have what I have programmed attached. Any help would be appreciated.

    Here is an updated version (attached). I kept trying to incorporate the examples you showed me, and I have made a little bit of a progress.
    It now saves a new avi file, and it's not a single image movie anymore. It's got as many images as I run the VI for. BUT, it only saves the very first image the camera takes and just loops it over and over again until I press stop. So the resulting avi shows a still image of the very first view of the camera for however long I ran the VI for.
    Any suggestions on how I can fix this?
    Thank you,
    B.J.

  • Why do the file extensions (.jpg .gif .png) no longer appear when I click on a previously saved image to use that image's file name (particularly important when saving a series of images using the same root name)?

    I save a lot of images using firefox, often times from a large batch or series of images. It used to be that I would click on a previously saved image and the entire file name including the file extension (i.e. image_example.jpg) would appear in the "save as" line. Now when I click on a previously saved file, the file name appears without the file extension (i.e. image_example). Which means I have to manually type .jpg every time. For a large collection of images that I am hoping to use the same root file name and then add chronological numbers at the end, this has become incredibly frustrating, especially as it is a previously unnecessary task.
    I am using a new Macbook Pro and maybe there's something Apple related to this...? It did not happen on my old PowerBook G4. I have file extensions turned on in System Preferences.
    It should be noted that I have searched high and low and have even gone into the Apple Genius Bar where they were just confused as I was and of course ended by urging me to use Safari (shocker!) as it has all kinds of new extensions and bells and whistles. I seriously feel alone on an island with this dumb, hard to google problem. Thanks so much for any help anyone out there might have.
    I mean: is this as simple as changing a setting in about:config?
    Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for your response Mylenium, however like I mentioned multiple times, I did change all of my trackpad/scrolling settings in system preferences.  And if I wanted to use a normal mouse (or a tablet), I would've gotten an iMac instead of a MacBook Pro.  I travel often and work all over the place, not always with access to a decently sized workspace that would be required for using a mouse or tablet.

  • Cannot find .TIF file saved with Acrobat 9 Pro

    I have a Canon document scanner that I use with Acrobat 9 Pro on Windows 7. I can scan the document into Acrobat, and save it as a PDF just fine. However, if I try to save it as a .TIF or a .TIFF, it appears to save just fine, but I'm unable to locate it afterwards. Here's what I've done so far:
    - Checked to make sure hidden files are visible in Windows Explorer
    - Made sure the permissions for the folder allowed writing files (even saved the TIF files to the same folder as the PDF files)
    - Searched for the filename with Windows Search. It finds the file, but when I try to click on it to open the file, Windows says that the file cannot be found.
    We're needing this for importing documents into a LIMS program, and we can't get that working until this part gets resolved. Anything that you can think of to help would be great. Thank you!

    Solved: It appears to be a Microsoft Word issue as it doesn't occur with other apps. When using the built-in 'convert to PDF' tool within Word the file name length is respected. It's an older version of Word (Word 2002 SP3). I printed a file using the same name length with Wordperfect and it works fine.
    I know this isn't a Word help forum, but if anyone does have a solution to offer it would be appreciated :-)

  • Printing to Acrobat = no images!???

    I writing my own software that does a bunch of stuff for a lab, and one thing it needs to do is print a two page report.  Page 2 has two bitmaps on it.  I can print (on paper) to a number of printers, HP LaserJets and inkjets, with no problems, but when I try printing to Acrobat, to create PDF files (obviously), the two bimaps don't print.  Well, sometimes they don't print, or maybe only one of them prints.  But this doesn't ever happen on my other printers.  I can create PDF files using a SmartDraw PDF FIlter, something that came with a flowcharting program I bought last year, and it works fine.  But, again, Acrobat doesn't.
    One other thing, I've been dealing with this for a while, and in earlier versions of Acrobat, v5 I think, it didn't work, then an update came along and it started working, then another update came along and it quit working...
    Recently I've started trying out programming tools from other authors, things that promise to streamline my prinngint, and they do, but the bitmap printing problem is still with me.
    Given that my program works well and consistenlty for other printers, and I'm not doing anything special regarding how I call Windows' printer functions, and for that PDF filter, what's up with Acrobat and how do I fix it.
    By the way, my bitmaps are 2400x1800 images, and they are bitmaps, not tiff or jpeg.  They print at about 7.5" wide and 4" or so high, so I think my file size is about right for getting good results, about 320 ppi.
    Finally, for the image prining itself, I've used DrawBitmap and StretchBitMap (I'm programming in Delphi, but these are probably familiar to those using other languages) which both use DIB when printing.  DrawBitmap printed the images sometimes, StretchBitmap never.  I'll try using StretchGraphic today and I'll see if reducing the sizes of the images helps.  But, I doubt image size will matter because in the past even 640x480 images had problems printing.
    Thanks.

    Manually?
    My program just uses standard Delphi and Windows functions to print.  By print, I mean when I want to create a PDF file I print to Adobe PDF, same as I do with all the other programs on my PC.  I'm not using and Adobe SDK routines.
    Like I wrote initally, I can print fine to several other printers, but not to Acrobat to create PDF files, and in the past Acrobat has sometimes worked and sometimes not worked, depending on the update.  SmartDraw's PDF filter works, but that software is not on a lot of people's systems.  I may contact them to see if I can find out what they are doing differently.
    Also, I have all kinds of error trapping around the bit of code that creates the bitmaps and sends them to the printer, all part of trying to figure out what is going wrong.  No errors are reported either by my program or Adobe PDF.  I even went as far as, during the print process, to copy the bitmaps to the clipboard so I could see exactly what Adobe PDF is getting.  I then pasted them into Photoshop.  The images look fine.
