Saving - Loss of colour

Hi everybody
I've created an image and I've saved it; the problem is that the saved photo is very dark. I tried with a lot of different formats but it's still dark...I don't know if the problem is that the photo is mostly blue and dark in the background and so the program changes anything..but I can't understand how to save it with right colours (also tried with maximum quality and resolution).
I'd insert the link of the project but it's 100mb

Tried with Calibrize but I din't solve the problem (interesting program however )
Noel, here the screens:
I clicked on "Save as", then:
(in the screen you can see the lighter image :O)
I've now noticed one thing, also happening with paint: if I save the photo with something with light color, for example as the screenshot here, the image is the way it should be; if I cut the light parts and save only the blue image, it becomes dark!!!!!!

  • Loss of colour saturation when flattening layers

    Hi,
I'm using Photoshop 7, and have used 'hue/saturation' adjustment layers to add a sepia tone to some images and a wine-red tone to others. Further adjustment layers have also been used to modify brightness and contrast, etc.
I find, though, that when I flatten the layers prior to saving, there's a loss of colour satutation visible on screen. Does anybody know a way of overcoming this?
    Thanks in anticipation,
    Andrew

    That's brilliant. Thanks a lot.

  • Loss of colour and nuances in scan

    Hp Deskjet F2180
    Mac OS X 10.9.3
Lately I've suddenly experienced loss of colour and nuances in my scans. It's still possible to scan in colour, but the colours are dull and brownish, but also in high contrast, which results in lighter colours disappearing altogheter. The preview looks good, and I can make colourcorrections in preview mode, but the final scan turns out the same disappointing way regardless of what settings I choose.
I can't think of anything that has changed between my previously successfull scans and when the problems started.

    Welcome to the forums elinhjulstrom,
I saw your post about the scan quality issue you are having with your Deskjet F2180 on Mavericks. I would like to share my ideas with you that might help.
    Try:
Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system (This will delete all printers)
    Repair disk permissions
Re-add the printer (not the AirPrint driver)
    Try the scan again
If there is still an issue, check out this link and use another method to scan:

  • Dark prints, loss of colour ...(Lightroom)Nikon D80

Please help, this prob is driving me nuts. every time i send off my photos to be printed (@photobox) what looks a perfect image comes back really dark and with a loss of colour/contrast. i know a bit about monitor alteration and have set the brightness of the screen to .0. still it looks brighter than what comes back. ive tweaked the contrast of the monitor and if i print at home the pics all come out with a pink hint but brightness at home is fine....please someone what am i doing wrong !!!

Also before I forget it is absolutely necessary to calibrate your monitor with a hardware tool to get good color. On a Mac you can get away with
software calibration if you're not too critical but also there hardware calibration is essential.

  • Loss of Colour balance and brightness when burning to  DVD

Hi new to Mac and having problems with photos and video that is fine when viewed in iphotos/ivideo/idvd etc or even when printed from or viewed on a PC. All looks great when assembled but as soon as the project is burned to DVD and played on a standalone player, images seem very red and dark. has anybody experienced the same ? do i need to overcompensate /adjust balance before assembling and burning a project. Any ideas would be very helpful.

John, I saw a reply you posted in July to a similar question on the
Premiere Elements forrum, which is good because I think I will have some
extra work to do on this project.
The MPG files originally came from material I originally edited in
Premiere Elements on a MacBook Pro. The source material was AVI files from
a miniDV camcorder. I shot multiple cameras on several nights of a
theatrical production. With the volume of footage and a lack of computing
horse-power, I decided to make shorter segments based on the scenes within
the play. I know this was far from an optimal work-flow (mea culpa) but
that is the reality I face. So now I am looking for the best way forward.
Short of re-editing the whole thing (now that I have CS5.5 on a PC), which
is out of the question, it sounds like my best option is to go back to the
Mac and export the individual scenes as something other than MPG's. I
assume that in Premiere Elements 9, I need to select "Share with
Computer", then NTSC-Widescreen, and then go to the Advanced menu. Should
I then ramp the quality up to maximum? Are there other settings I need to
adjust to maximize the output quality?
At this point, I do not care about the size of the output files, nor do I
care if each 10 minute scene requires all night to render. I just would
like to get better quality clips that I can then use in CS5.5 on my PC to
assemble the full show, added chapter titles, and then print to DVD using
Encore. Any advice you can offer would be most welcome.

  • Loss of colour in transfer of analog video to iMovie.

Using an ADVC110 converter in transferring analog video from VCR to iMovie,
the video conversion was successful but no clour just black and white.
I used a S-Video cable from VCR to ADVC110 and firwire from ADVC110 to computer. Any help appreciated.
    Eric.

Check your cables and device settings.
Most VHS decks support only composite video and using a s-video cable produces B&W image.
SVHS decks can be configured to output composite or s-video via the same SCART connector. Outputting composite to a s-video input produces B&W image.

  • Mini-DVi to VGA colour loss?

I am in the process of buying a Mini-DVi to VGA connector, but have been told, by an Apple Store in Korea, that the connector isn't very good and that it has colour problems. Loss of colour and colour mismatching. Has anybody had these problems and if so, is there a way around it?
    Thanks Guys.

I don't know about color mismatching (I have an old Studio Display CRT hooked up to my iMac for extra real estate, so the color and brightness differences between the CRT and LCD are very noticeable), but I have the full palette of colors; I think the biggest concern that I have read about (see the reviews on the Apple store site) has been its sturdiness, with many ceasing to function after months of use.
I must say, however, that mine has been working fine since July (knock wood), as did my mini-VGA to VGA connector from Apple to hook my old eMac up to the 17" CRT.
To my thinking, for a little less than $20, it's not a bad gamble.

  • Please Help! - Program changes photo colours automatically when photos uploaded?

    I use photoshop elements 2.0.
When I upload photos the program automatically changes the photo colours to a duller shade across the whole photo... brighter rich colours are lost.
(i have tested that it isnt just that the colours appear different in photoshop but not when saved by uploading photos into photoshop, doing nothing to them but save it, then compare the original and the saved photo - the colours differ significantly.)
Restoring the original colours is difficult but I attempt to get close using the Enhance - adjust brightness/ contrast.
I am sure that this isn't a universal program fault so perhaps one of my settings is wrong?? It has done it since I bought it but up to now I have lived with it however it is really starting to put me off using photoshop when the striking natural colours are lost.
I am sure other photographers dont have this problem so there must be something i can do to solve it.
Please any help would be grately appreciated as to why this may be happening

    Hello All,
The below code allows you to read TIFF images. You must have Java Advanced Imaging installed on your system for this to work
RenderedImage ri = JAI.create("fileload", filename); However the problem I am facing is that, when I save the image back to another TIFF file, the image is getting saved in negative colours, i.e, black in the final image, where originally white is there.
I hope I am clear about the problem and also hope that the code works for you.
    best wishes
    Issac

  • Image resize : loss of quality by using Java API. What's wrong ?

We actually have a problem with the resizing of pictures.
    We use jdk 1.4.2.
We are trying to transform some picture from approx. 2000*1600 to 500*400.
The result is poor (loss of colors, blur ...)

Can we have a better result by using jdk 1.5.0 ?
    Thanks for your help.

    Nothing wrong - it's a feature :).
"Loss of colours" is connected with Java embedded JPEG decoder. If you transcode to for example PNG format using any image processing program and then resize using Java then colors will be OK.
"Blur..." is connected with bad implementation of interpolation algorithms in JDK/JRE and can't be fixed :)
I'm close to finish developing own resizing library which produced the next results from your image (it's a very good image to test). "from_png" means that the source image is PNG.
<b>Box interpolation</b> (also known as nearest neighbour, but it's the honest implementation, not JDK fake):

  • Animated GIFs are ridiculously large - why?

    Hi all,
I cannot figure out why the animated GIFs I am exporting are
so massive in file size. For example, I import a small 5-frame
650Byte GIF. I edit the size of the canvas to pad it to a square
(from 54x40 to 54x54, or something like that), then I save it with
    the following settings:
    Animated GIF
    Exact Palette
    0 Loss
4 Colours (5 including alpha channel)
    No dither
And it comes out as 64.4KB. How can the file size increase by
100 times with barely any change? Even if I import it, change
nothing and save the file with the same settings as above, it's
still 64.4KB. Is Fireworks padding the file with unnecessary
    information or something?
    Thanks for any help,

  • S-video output B&W

    Hi,
From time to time I like to connect my PowerBook to TV thorugh S-video (using adapter S-Video to scart) to watch movies with friends etc.
Though, it has been some time (over half a yar) when I last watched a movie on TV that way. Since I know for sure that I have been able to connect my pb to tv via s-video with no problems I can't understand whats wrong now.
Here's the thing. When I connected my PB to a TV now, it shows the picture in black&white on the TV. Anyone know how to get back the colour image? I have the same cable set that I used before to connect to tv (latter is the same one also) without any problems - full colour. So, I think the problem is software-related (maybe os x update).
Can anyone recommend what to do to get the colour back?
    cheers,
    r. pello
P.S. PB's lcd screen works fine. So, problem only with s-video output colour.

Have you checked the resolution/TV type in the Displays preference pane once the TV is connected? If your PB is detecting your TV as PAL rather than NTSC (or vice versa), that could certainly cause a loss of colour like you describe.

  • Did anybody know about the OMR(Optical mark reader) tools.

I have to read a image file using OMR(Optical mark reader).Did any third party tools for java r available in market? Plz help me....

    Hi Karsten,
Some of my experience with stills is discussed here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2331300&tstart=120
This mainly covers the "freeze frame" problem with loss of colour and definition/brightness. I use the "video adjustments" tool to match the still with the original video frame.
Like you, I'm generally happy with the quality of stills obtained from iMovie '09. Other than "freeze frames" I import stills from the Events into iPhoto for enhancement/adjustment then either prepare slideshows in iPhoto or re-import to iMovie for slideshow preparation etc.
None of this is probably that relevant to your question, but it gives me an excuse to ask you - what happened to your Mac Mini, or have you turned to the dark side?
Incidentally, thanks for all your invaluable help over a lengthy period - keep up the good work!
