Saving planning data in SEM-BPS application
Hi Colleagues!
When I tried to save entered plan data and get the error:
"Not all characteristics for line item tracking fou Required: 0DATE,
0TIME, 0TCTUSERNM and 0TCTSYSID.
Message no. UPF001"
I do not use these objects and maybe anyone knows what the source of this problem?
There is no any characteristic relationship in area and level.

Hi,
What are the pre-requisites for being able to lock planning data when using certain header characteristics
in customizing the Status and Tracking System in BPS ?
I have done the following and expect the locks to be set, but they are not set and the data is still available for planning :
1. Assigned the 0COMPANY hierarchy to a subplan with a planning area which has header characteristics : VERSION and CALYEAR.
Header characteristic customization is as follows :
CALYEAR = 2005
VERSION = V1
2. Have set the status of all nodes in the hierarchy to 'approved' .
3. I execute a Web planning interface for this planning area with a selection of a 0COMPANY within this hierarchy, PLANYEAR = 2006, CALYEAR = 2005 and expect the plan to be locked but its not.
Could someone kindly explain why ?

The plan data should be locked after the status is switched if
- the package selection used in the planning function or planning layout is entirely contained in the header selection
- you do not access the plan data via a multi area
- the user does not have the authorization "STS_SUP" (super user).
It is important to note that the characteristic used to define the hierarchy is not used in the locking. The characteristic is only used to define the hierarchy.
In your example only the characteristics year and version are relevant for locking as these are the only ones used in the header selection. The data should be locked if the package selection is year = 2005 and version = V1. If you have a selection like year = 2005 and version = V1, V2 then the data is not locked as the selection is not completely contained in the header selection. Note that even if you only use version V1 in your selection but if you use a planning layout that has V2 in a comparison column then the system will enlarge the selection and data would not be locked.

Function types for Balance Sheet Planning missing in SEM-BPS 6.0
Hi BPS experts,
After upgrading our BI-system from SEM 4.0 to SEM 6.0 (level 10) as part of the upgrade from BW 3.5 to BI 7.0 (level 15), the BPS function types for balance sheet planning are not available in the planning environment (Transaction code BPS0).
According to the SAP Library the balance sheet planning functions in SEM-BPS comprises of 6 standard function types - one of them is "Depreciation":

Menu path: Business Planning Functions -> Functions for Balance Sheet Planning
In our existing SEM 4.0 we are using "Depreciation" and the functions based on this function type are of course short dumping when executed in our upgraded system (SEM 6.0) as the function type does not exist here.
Odd though - we do have the function type "Allocation" available in SEM 6.0, which should be delivered with SEM together with the Balance Sheet Planning function types (It is listed directly under "Business Planning Functions" in the SAP Library) .
I have tried to figure out whether we missed out on activating something during or after the system installation, but our basis consultant has not found anything in the installation guides related to this issue. Also I was wondering whether it could be a simple matter of activating some Business Content but without any luck.
Does anybody know why the Balance Sheet Function Types are not available in SEM-BPS 6.0?

Right click the Button Group Item ® Properties ® * Button ®
Type Caption Save ® Command ® Select All Commands Tab ®
De-select Execute Planning Function and then select checkbox Save
Changed Data ® Double click on Save Changed Data ® OK ® OK ® Save your template.

I have read than for CO-PA there are standard functions that send the data to R/3, but I cannot make they work to me.
And in addition I will need to also create other Retractors for RRHH, and there are not standard functions.
For that reason I needed know how to create a Retractor step by step.

Integrated planning Content and SEM-BPS Content

Is there any integrated planning Business Content for CRM? Where do I find it?
SEM-BPS has Business Content planning scenarios for CRM. Is this BC also available in BW-BPS now? Where do I find it?
We use NW04s BI and CRM 5.0.

as of now I have not heard of such content.
Also SAP is not talking about CRM-content for BIIP yet. What we have learned is that a lot effort is put into making the system stable and going for "additional" functionalities like BC later.
What you could do is use BW-Business Content for CRM as far as possible (InfoCubes etc. ) and build the Aggregation Levels, Queries & Templates by yourself.

When you meant "to add new (or change existing) data in a planning layout, you have to make use of the function module
<b>API_SEMBPS_SETDATA.</b>
The parameters what you have to pass are:
1) Planning area
2) Planning level (where your layout is defined)
3) Planning package
4) Planning Laoyut
5) Characteristic values of each row
Check the documentation of the Funtion Module (CTRL+F4).
<b><i>1) Be sure to convert the key figure values in string format, otherwise you would get a runtime error.
2) Make sure that no two rows have same keys (characteristic value tuples)
3) Make sure that all the characteristic values are contained in the planning level (Check the filters)</i></b>
A simple working example (ABAP Code) you have it from me when things dosen't go forwards.

Plan data from 2 applications(mulitprovider)
Hi Experts,
I would like to see plan data of 2 bpc applications( X & Y) via bex query. our version is bpc75nwsp04.
By default when application created in bpc, system generates one mulitiprovider. In my case, i used mulitprovider of X and in that included bw enabled cube of Y(i.e Y_B cube). I created a query on multiprovider and trying to see the output.
Is the way what i proceed is right? Is it anyway disturbed by optimization process in future.

LaxmanOptimization should not distub the multiprovider, that is the purpose of having the MP. However I would caution you on some other things regarding using BEx queries on BPC content....
- Avoids BPC shared query engine
- Sign handling by account type is ignored
- BPC authorizations (member access security) is circumvented
- BPC Measures are not available
- Dim formulas are not known
- Comments can't be seen
- Hierarchy display can be an issue

Will you please suggest, we have a scenario up to Branch Offices level we have a Plan Data. In BPS we have a webinterface application in which we distribute the Plan Data Manualy to the each Employee in the Branch office.
Now my requirement is we have to Distribute the Plan Data of Branch Office to the Employees with Percentage Dynamically.

Thanks for respond, i am thinking how i can suggest my ABAP Person to write the code in the FOX to Distribute the Plan Data of Sales office to the Employees, by Percentage. for eg: if the Plan data of Sales office is 100, we can give a Function at webinterface where he can input some percentage, lets say 10% then 10 should be distributed among the Employees.
Let me tell you ours scenario is such, we use to Massupload data to plan cube by text file ( Fiscal period, Compcode, Division, Product wise Sales Office, Qty and Value)
Then we distribute the data Manually by using the webinterface(backednd connected with Planning laylout) where by selecting Division, Sales Office, all the proudcts and against Employees will display, then manually distribute the Sales Office allocated data to the Employees.
we have exit function for Employee in which by selecting the sales office it will pick the Employees of the particular Sales Office.
Now my requirement is this Sales Office Data needs to Distribute Automatically by the system when the Function Executes.
Pls suggest any sample code, so that i can refere and work on that.

Changes are not reflected into SEM-BPS 1 layout.
Hi,
1st, I've included code in SAPAfterDataPut that copies data from SEM-BPS 1 into New Sheet.
Now, I've inserted a method in the sheet module of New Sheet. This method takes care of reflecting changes from New Sheet into SEM-BPS 1 layout. but, finally am not getting changes back to SEM-BPS 1 sheet.
I've tested this in excel (outside of BPS) and it works fine.
in BPS, I went into VB debugging mode (after inserting a break point) and I can see that change that has been made in New Sheet was reflected back to SEM-BPS 1. But, when i test the same out of debugging mode, am not getting the same result.
Looks like,after changes in New Sheet, SAPAfterDataPut is again being executed and is overwriting the changes that I made in new sheet.
Do i need to inlclude code only in SAPBeforeDataPut to reflect changes from new Sheet into SEM-BPS 1?
In excel (outside of BPS), this method works in such a way that, as soon as i make changes in Sheet2 will get reflected into Sheet1 without runnning any macro.
but, with same code, this doesn't work in BPS. (instead of reflecting changes to SEM-BPS 1, changed value in New Sheet is reverted back to original value that is same as the value in SEM-BPS 1)

Usually you work with a second sheet in the following way: write a macro that copies the data from the SEM-BPS 1 sheet to the new sheet. In order to run that macro include it into the macro "SAPAfterDataPut" and set the flag in the check box of in the popup of the third screen of the layout builder. The system will call the macro after the data has been written to the sheet SEM-BPS 1.
There is a second predefined macro that the system will executed provided that the flag is set on the popup in the layout builder. This macro is called "SAPBeforeDataGet". It is called before the BPS reads data from the SEM-BPS 1 and should be used for transferring the data back to the first screen (similar to the coding you have done in SAPAfterDataPut). Using this macro should solve your problem.
I did not understand how the changes are transferred from the new sheet in your (stand alone) case. Unfortunately it sometimes does make a difference if you test a macro in a stand alone Excel or in the Excel inplace. Some features are disabled in Excel Inplace (by Microsoft!!).

Does SAP not support integration with Powersim in this new version of SEM or is there another way to integrate Powersim with BPS? I have seen these menus in version SEM 3.20 with underlying BW version of 3.10.

I know that Powersim is sold by own and has seperate license, but to connect Powersim and BPS there is a delivered planning function in SEM-BPS as I read and in "Planning" menu (in screen bps0) was a menu named "dynamic simulation" in Version SEM 3.2, I had seen this menu option in Version SEM 3.2.
I think these menus are necessary to call simulation model that is prepared by Powersim, otherwise how can I connect my Powersim model to BPS?
Can be the problem Support Package level or something that is not installed to system?

Does SEM BPS support "Cost Estimates"?
Hi,
I've been given a task to assess if SEM BPS application can do "COST ESTIMATES"?
I don't have enough information, but "COST ESTIMATES" estimates the cost based on certain factors by looking into multiple tables in SAP R/3.
Please remember that I have pretty good idea of SEM-BPS with 2 projects experiences, but, it's just that I don't have enough idea on "COST ESTIMATES".
I appreciate if anyone could share their experiences on "COST ESTIMATES" in BPS.

I do not remeber that this function is available in BPS. What I can suggest is to use an exit function. in this case as you know you should put down on your own the algoritm with ABAP.

Data in aggregates not updated after planning in SEM-BPS cubes
We are running BW 3.0B SP27 with SEM-BPS. Our database is DB/2. When users modify plan data on planning layouts, the data in the cube and the aggregates can become inconsistent.
For example, when a user runs a report that uses an aggregate, they get one number, but when they add a drilldown that causes the report to bypass the aggregate and hit the cube directly, the number will be different. The only way to fix this is to deactivate and then reactivate the aggregate that has stale data.
We've tried opening an OSS message, but that hasn't been helpful, since we aren't able to reliably reproduce the problem. Sometimes the aggregates are fine, other times the data will be stale.
We roll up aggregates in the SEM cubes at the end of each business day. We include a request ID filter for "most current data" (0S_RQMRC) in all our SEM queries, so the queries should be bringing in data from the latest open request in addition to the data in the relevant aggregate.
What causes this, and how can we fix it without manually reactivating aggregates?

SEM BPS - Planning function to distribute total value over months
Hello,
We use SEM BPS. In fact we use the integration of SEM BPS in the CRM opportunity component as opportunity planning.
Now we want to distribute the total value of certain key figures over the months. Either equal distribution or increasing distribution like 1% increase every month. What would be the best way to do that with a planning function?
We need to take into account that the number of months depends on the start and end date of the transaction (opportunity).

I would probably create a fox formula, do a foreach in selection loop over the months and distribute the values within that formula.
If you want to use a standard distribution function, you need to create the reference data somewhere before, which could be a bit difficult if the timeframe changes according to user selections.
