Saving QTVR files from Safari

Hi to everybody!
I have a question regarding saving virtual panoramas QTVR from Internet. I used to get this message, that I need to upgrade to QT Pro in order to be able to save these files. So I shelled out the money and I succeeded twice, but most of the time there is no way for me to save the file.
Is there any trick?
I am using Safari as a browser.
Thank you,
Tomek
Regards
PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

I went to http://www.expedia.com but couldn't find any reference on the page to "virtual tour"
So I googled, "virtual tour" site:expedia.com and got this page:
http://www.expedia.com/daily/deals/FiveStarFantasies/default.asp?rfrr=-35056
I scrolled down to:
Mandarin Oriental San Francisco
Take a virtual tour ( JavaScript:S3D('http://display.maxvr.com/expedia/propertymap.asp?hotelid=6505', 450,575) )
Which opened a new window for:
http://display.maxvr.com/expedia/propertymap.asp?hotelid=6505&lang=1033
And the window was completely white, nothing playing, no source.
So I went to:
http://www.maxvr.com/visitorsample.asp
And the panoramas there all play fine (in Java)
I repeated step 2 onward in Windows XP Pro with the same result, the expedia.com tours resulted in white windows with no source while the maxvr.com page worked fine. Perhaps expedia.com forgot to pay maxvr.com? I dunno.

  • When downloading a file from Safari, it goes to downloads and you can't re-name the file before it is saved

I am new to MAC and have trouble when downloading files from Safari that I want to save to a particular folder with a new name.  Can you do that without first saving to downloads, then moving the file to the documents stack, then changing the name?

Although the right-click contect menu has "Download linked file as" and you would think that would allow you to rename the file as it is downloaded, it always gives me a useless html file.  Maybe I am misunderstanding what that menu item actually does. I long ago gave up on renaming files during download. So I'm as curious as you about whether it can be done.

I am trying to open PDF files from safari, but when I click on them they open in a separate window and the information is encrypted. Any ideas on how to get them to open them in Adobe? Any help please!

The pdf is loading as html code. If you save it, it will download as :
    605124.pdf.html
    Change the extension to .pdf
And it opens and works perfectly, I just tested it:
Use this link to download it automatically:

How does one remove temporary files from Safari?  A friend logged on to her Facebook account using my iMac running Mac OSX 10.7.5 and Safari 6.1.6.  Now I can't remove her e-mail address from my computer.  When I open Facebook her address shows in the user button.  I do not have a Facebook account.  It was suggested to me that I try clearing temporary files from Safari but I can't find anything that tells me how to do this.  Are temporary files the same as the cache?  It also was suggested that I try clearing Safari cache.  How do I do that?

Check Safari/Preferences/Passwords to see if the Facebook account is there. If so, select it and remove it. If you are still having problems, Safari/Preferences/Advanced - enable the Develop menu, then go there and Empty Caches. Quit/reopen Safari and test. If that doesn't work, Safari/Reset Safari.

  • Cannot download any files from Safari 6.0.1 (Mountain Lion)

Hi, I have had an ongoing issue with downloading files from Safari 6.0.1. When I click any links (even from emails) to download various files from pdfs, zips to photos, firmware etc, Safari opens a new tab with the file URL in the navigation bar. However, the tab is a blank gray window, and the download does not begin. I have been copy pasting the links into firefox and the downloads work fine. Would rather be using safari though and its rather annoying to be opening a separate browser anytime I need to download a file. Any ideas?
    Thanks.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output andWi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Open PDF files from Safari after deleting Acrobat Reader

I can not open PDF files from Safari. I already threw to trash Acdobe Reader and internet plugs in, too. Can anybody help me

I know you said you threw away the internet plug-ins, but you should double-check this since that is a very common cause of the behavior you describe.

  • I cant download any file from safari on my ipad 3 WI-FI it gives me safari can't  download this file

I can't download any file from safari on my ipad 3 why
It gives me : safari cant download this file

    Hi Morning mist,
If the app did not specifically indicate that it was available from the iTunes & App Stores then, as Diavonex indicated, you cannot download it.
The App Store has 2 free Heartmath apps for the iPad - Inner Balance, and HeartQuotes HD. You can click on your App Store icon and find them under Heartmath in the Categories search bar.
Not sure what you might have paid for?
    Cheers,

  • I am trying to download a file from Safari. It doesn't work.

I am trying to download a file from Safari. It doesn't work. It always comes up with a notification saying, 'Safari could not download this file'. Why does it do that? More importantly, what should I do? how do I download it?
Thanks to the users who reply to this. It will help me a lot.

What type of file is it?
If safari can't natively open the file, or there is no App installed thatr can, it won't download.

  • Upload iCloud file from Safari (iPad)

Hello Community. Like many people, I consider iCloud as a great initiative from Apple but I am desperate to see that it's impossible to select an iCloud file from Safari (iPad) and to post this file on a website. Does nobody have to upload a CV, a PDF or an Excel sheet on the Net from his iPad from example? At the moment, you can only select a picture or take a picture! This is not serious. Thanks for your replies.

    Hey Flightmood,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, you want to access content in iCloud from the iOS device. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.
iCloud Drive FAQ - Apple Support
You can access your files in iCloud Drive any of these ways:
On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 8, you can access your files from Apple apps like Pages, Numbers, and Keynote, or any apps that support iCloud Drive.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Have a good one,
    Mario

  • Save a pdf file from Safari

On the real Safari, I can right click on a link to a pdf file and get the option of saving the file for later use, emailing, whatever. Using the iPod Touch version of Safari, all I've been able to do is view the pdf file. What is the process for saving such a file. Also pertains to pictures - right click on a picture and you have the option of saving it to a location of your choice using the computer version of Safari. Not sure how to do that with the Touch.

This is not a feature of ipod touch. You cannot save anything from the internet. This is one of the reasons that the platform is so secure.

  • How to save downloaded files from safari for offline use?

Need help how to save downloaded PDF or images from Safari for offline use. On Mac or PC, we "save as" the files. How do you do it on safari on iPhone?

You can't detach email attachments as separate files, though you can view supported formats as attachments. If you're viewing webmail with Safari, the attachments aren't saved on the iPhone.
Apple hasn't made any announcements about new feature for the iPhone and rarely does. The other iPhone users in this user-to-user forum have no access to unannounced Apple plans, and speculation about them is prohibited by the forum Terms of Use.
If you want to make a suggestion to Apple, post it on the iPhone Feedback page:

  • Drag File From Safari Download Window to Other Volume - Moves not Copies File - Bug or Feature ?

    Hi,
Appreciate comment on what I thought was unusual Mac OS behavior.  Running Safari 5.1.5, OS 10.6.8.
Mac OSs in my experience copy a file when it is dragged and dropped to another volume/drive. (Let's leave classic desktop out of this.)
It may be the first time I've ever done it in any version of Safari, but just dragged a file directly from the Safari Downloads panel onto another drive's icon - and it appeared to "move" the file from its original download destination to the other drive and not simply copy it onto the other drive.
Didn't look like a copy and standard Finder delete since I didn't see file in the trash, although it was gone from the finder window for the download folder (Desktop in my prefs), and afterwards Safari Download Window magnifying glass icon "can’t show the file “filename” in the Finder because “filename” has moved since you downloaded it." It's reproducible.
Assuming it's not unique to my configuration, is this a bug or "feature" ?
    Thanks.

    HI,
From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Preferences then select the General tab.
You can deselect: Open "safe" files after downloading.

  • Why Acrobat Reader doesn't open pdf-files from Safari?

I'm new Mac user and cannot find answer why I cannot open pdf-files directly from Safari. My Macbook OS X 10.9.3 and Safari is 7.0.4. Only way to open pdf-files is to download the content first and then open it. If I try to open it directly Acrobat says "Before proceeding you must first launch Adobe Acrobat and accept the end user license agreement". I have downloaded Acrobat Reader several times already and cannot understand what I'm doing wrong.

Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print or save PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to do so by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar should appear under the cursor. Click the printer or disk icon.
    Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
    Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
    and check the box marked
              Allow Plug-ins
    Then click
              Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
    Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
    Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others—I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
    Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari.
