Saving to PDF with hyperlink sections

I've saved a 200 page PDF document from Word. The Word document contains hyperlinks on the contents page to jump to the relevant section in the document.
Is there a way to do with for the PDF I've created? I've received large PDFs in the past which allow me to jump to certain sections, often using the drawer or hyperlinks on the first page.
Can anyone help?

You can use Tools > Protect Document in Word. The first choice (protect for Track Changes) just locks in the Track Changes mode and prevents accepting them; however, edits can be made and hidden if Markup view is turned off.
What you need to do is select protect for Comments and enter a password (twice). This locks the document so it cannot be edited without the password. Only comments can be entered. Attempting to type in the document does nothing (except display a "This command is not available because the document is locked" message at the very bottom of the window). If it matters to you, the locking carries over to Word in Windows too. Hyperlinks still work from inside the protected document.
To remove the tracked changes from an existing document before sending it out, you can copy and paste the entire contents of the document into a new document. That eliminates the tracked changes.

  • PDF with hyperlinks to images and other PDFs.

    Hi, All.
    I would like to create a small booklet with approximately 12 to 16 pages as a PDF document but wish to have images and text in the document set as hyperlinks so that they can launch other images and/or documents. In other words, a viewer could click on an image or text and then see an enlarged image open on the center of his computer screen or see another document open over the original PDF. This would work in a similar fashion to what one can do with interactive books on the iPad created with iBook Author.
    The questions I have are:
    Where can I find more material to read on how to create PDF with these features?
    I have seen PDFs that open with an application on screen that makes them 'feel' more like a real magazine. They are not a typical Acrobat or similar PDF viewer but rather an application that 'flips' the pages in a similar manner to what one would do holding a real magazine. Is it possible to do this with the PDF documents launched by hyperlinks on my PDF document?
    Can these hyperlinks open enlarged images in the center of the screen while the remaining area around the image (background) become darker to place emphasis on the image?
    How can I learn more about these features and how to use them with Acrobat and PDF documents?
    In case the information is relevant I am currently running Acrobat 9 Pro version 9.5.3 on a Mac.
    This is sort of an urgent project so any help you can share will be very appreciated.
    TIA,
    Joe.

  • Insert a spreadsheet and word docs into a PDF with hyperlinks

    I have a spreadsheet index with hyperlinks to 455 single page word docs. I want to make a single pdf by inserting the spreadsheet followed by the word docs.
    Is there a way of having the hyperlinks recognize the inserted word docs pages inside the pdf via the original hyperlinks, or do I need to remove the hyperlinks before inserting the spreadsheet and then do bookmarks for all 455 pages? Or some other method?

    James,
    I doubt that will work. But it should be easy enough to find out. If you
    print to pdf from ID, I guarantee is will not work. If you export from
    ID, I doubt it will work, but ask in the ID forum, since the creation
    does not depend upon Acrobat.

  • How to import pdf with hyperlink and and maintain its hyperlink while exporting it as HTML?

    We can import pdf in indesign either using plaacemultiplefile script or using place submenu  under file menu but both of them import pdf as graphic object and lost its all hyperlink. no doubt when i again export its as pdf than hyperlink are there as it is but when i export it as HTML,IDML or other format than than all hyperlink are lost so is there any way to maintain this if no than is there any way to write some new script utilities which will do the same .one solution i think is first convert pdf into docx and than import it as docx indesign import  it as text frame and maintain all hyperlink but in this process pdf file lost its some formating while converting it into docx .

    I probably should've remembered "rtfm" before writing all that.  It seems to me now that I need to create a Master Page for each of the different layouts, then dynamically select the one I want to use at run-time, maybe with a script event ?  The Master Page creation is a bit messy ... the only way I seem to be able to get multiple Master Pages is to open each Word doc, let Livecycle import it, then copy all the content into a new Master Page in my main document.  That is, there doesn't seem to be a way to import a series of Word docs directly into separate Master pages of a single Livecycle form.  I'll continue with the "read" part of "rtfm" ...

  • Cannot Export PDF with Hyperlinks and Bookmarks

    August 1, 2008
    Hi Everyone,
    I've recently upgraded to InDesign CS3. I opened a 40 page document that was completed in InDesign CS2. When I try to export to a PDF (with include hyperlinks and bookmarks) the program quits once it reaches the 5th page.
    I've tried exporting without hyperlinkes and bookmarks checked and PDFing works fine. I had no previous PDFing issues when working in CS2.
    Any suggestions/tips/guesses would be appreciated.
    Thank you,

    Hi! I need help w indesigns hyperlink...
    I am working on a long document and have 5 files, I was able to use hyperlink on each one that way the reader could jump fr one file (or page) to another. The hyperlink worked perfectly on PDF. Now I need to merge these five PDF's into 1 PDF file but the hyperlink that I have created on individual files doesnt work in a combined PDF. Is there a run-around on this? Any suggestions? I'm just new in indesign and need inputs. Thanks!

  • Email pdf with hyperlink

    Hi,
    I am trying to email an optimized pdf file with hyperlinks. The links work and show up when I am in Acrobat (version - Prof. 9.0), but when i email the pdf they do not show up in the email. My ultimate goal is for the entire pdf page to show up in the email (so u don't have to actually open any programs) with the links active, so when reading the email you can move your cursor over it and the link will show as active. Hope that makes sense, in essence it's basically an email blast, but for some reason my links aren't showing up in the final email. I would appreciate any help.
    Thanks

    >My ultimate goal is for the entire pdf page to show up in the email
    Impossible to assure that with all users. Many may have their email client set to show it as an attachment only.

  • PDF with Hyperlink dead in mail

    Hello!
    I have a PDF with a Hyperlink (url). I want to send it with the Mail Application to my friends, so they can click right into the link in the PDF. It doesn't work. Any solving answers?
    Thanks a lot!

    Dani,
    I have sent PDF created with links that remained live. In fact, in some cases the presence of those live links triggered some filters. In one case the email was blocked, and in another the attachment was removed. I would expect some cases could result in the links simply being "killed".
    As best I can remember, my PDFs mentioned had live URL links, such as:
    http://www.apple.com/, and not what I usually reference as a Hyperlink Apple.
    Do you have a sample of what you have been trying to send, that would not be so private, as to prevent sharing with me? If this can be done, my email address can be found by clicking on my name to the left of this post, and looking in the bio line of my Profile.

  • PDF with Hyperlinks to Flash/Flex

    My company is looking for a solution to put our print catalog
    online, with links from each part number. Here is a sample of
    this...
    http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/nimco/redribbonweek07/
    Our catalog has approx. 30,000 part numbers in its 280 pages.
    I have a PDF that contains hyperlinks to each part number on our
    site. I would like to be able to merge the incredible flexbook
    found at
    http://www.quietlyscheming.com/
    with our own catalog and keep the hyperlinks.
    NXTbook was able to take our hyperlinked PDF and create a
    flash-based catalog complete with hyperlinks intact, but my company
    wants to host it on our own servers for shopping cart reasons. So,
    I know this can be done.
    Are there any Flex/Flash gurus out there who can point me in
    the right direction?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Pdfs with hyperlinks on a droid

    is there an application that will open my pdfs with the hyperlinks on a droid?

    I am replying to myself...
    It seems this is an issue with Publisher, not Acrobat (?). I want to use PDF/X settings and it's probably a limitation of Publisher, even without Parallels etc.

  • Placing PDF with hyperlink in InDesign loses link

    Hi,
    I was hoping someone can help me with this. I have a PDF that I've created a hyperlink using the Link tool in Acrobat. I've placed that PDF into InDesign hoping the interactivity will follow through. When I export the InDesign file to PDF, the hyperlink is lost. Is there a way to ensure that the hyperlinks get carried through?
    Thanks!

    Still.
    Generally I think the engineering assumption in InDesign is that placed PDFs will mostly be images, not text, and certainly not interactive text. Of course that is less and less true.
    You can always file a feature request (adobe.com/go/wish).
    Yes, it is possible to export hyperlinks from a PDF...I would ask in the Acrobat scripting forum, I guess. But it's definitely technically possible.

  • [JS] [CS3] Saving to PDF with restricted printing "PRINT128LOWRESOLUTION"

    Hi All,
    This is my first JavaScript. Trying to create a script which will save the active illustrator document to PDF with the following:
    a) sets permission password
    b) restricts printing to "Low resolution" only.
    I was able to get the script to do everything, except restricting printing to "Low resolution". Though i have set it to low resolution (PDFPrintAllowedEnum.PRINT128LOWRESOLUTION), it seems, illustrator ignores this statement, and set it to "high resolution" (PRINT128HIGHRESOLUTION).
    See my code below:
    var curDoc = app.activeDocument;
    var destName = "~/Desktop/Testpassword1.pdf";
    saveFileToPDF(destName);
    function saveFileToPDF (dest) {
    var doc = app.activeDocument;
    if ( app.documents.length > 0 ) {
    var saveName = new File ( dest );
    saveOpts = new PDFSaveOptions();
    saveOpts.requirePermissionPassword = true;
    saveOpts.permissionPassword = "test1";
    saveOpts.pDFAllowPrinting = PDFPrintAllowedEnum.PRINT128LOWRESOLUTION;
    doc.saveAs( saveName, saveOpts );
    Any advise will be much appreciated.

    Hi
    I see the same thing with Reader, seems they've chosen to restrict it in that fashion.
    Preview works ok, but sure, doesn't open some pdf's.

  • PDF with hyperlinks problem

    Hi all.
    I have a PDF document that I generated from a word document. The word document was created using Office 2007 on a windows XP PC. I converted the document to PDF using Acrobat 9.0 Standard. Upon conversion, the hyperlinks within the PDF file worked fine for me. My PC has IE8. I sent the document to the administrative assistant in our office to review the PDF document. When she clicks the links, she gets the security window asking her to allow or deny PDF access to the web. She clicked the button to allow the link, and then nothing happens. No browser window opens. I checked her machine and it's an XP box with IE7 on it. She is using the acrobat reader 9. I asked a few other folks in the department to try clicking the links and their computers acted as expected. I do not see why problems exist. The only difference I could find on the problematic PC was that the Bing and Google toolbars had been installed. I tried disabling them and that did not solve the problem.
    The boss in my department wants to insure everyone in our department (all 9 of us) can open the links within the PDF before we declare the document in its current PDF state complete and ready to distribute. I have been searching Google for assistance. I found out how to use the link tool to modify the links so they run JavaScript code "app.launchURL("http://www.somesite.com", true);” instead of using the open a web link command. That way a new browser window is opened with every link click rather than using an existing open window and having the user possible missing the opening of the link.  I’ve now tried both methods and am still at a loss. Both methods bring up the security window, but fail to launch the browser.
    All help is greatly appreciated.
    Mike

    There are a few possibilities. First try removing the toolbars rather than disabling them. See if there is any security configuration in IE and Reader that is stopping the weblink from opening. It is possible that the issue is with a security setting within IE that is causing the problem. To check this out see what happens if you view the pdf from within Firefox.

  • Printing a .pdf with "boxed" sections appearing as "white" and showing a "white" border to the "box"

    Dear Community,
    I have created a .pdf file from an email and then "boxed" sections of the document with a white border and a white fill, intending the recipient to be unable to see the text within the "box". However, when I print the document it appears as if the "boxed" sections did not exist. In other words, all the text in the email is printed. Can anyone help with a solution, please.

    You cannot create pdf files or forms in Adobe Reader. If you used Acrobat, please repost in that forum.

  • Saving a pdf with the latest version?

    According to what I have read online, versions of adobe acrobat 8 and higher will save the latest pdf version out to version 1.6. I am using adobe acrobat pro 9 and when I create or save a pdf it is saving version 1.5. Can anyone let me know if there is a dropdown or something that chooses the latest version.

    What you have read is misleading at best.
    The latest PDF version is PDF 1.7, which Acrobat 8 is capable of making and reading.
    However, recent versions of Acrobat will look at the PDF to see whether it needs to be marked with the latest version, and if not they will mark it as older. This allows more old software to work seamlessly. You cannot stop this.
