Saving window don't stay opened

Since I updated all the drivers on my laptop, the saving window where I am supposed to choose the format (jpg, gif, etc.) of copies of my file don't stay opened long enough for me to save in another format than PS. How to fix it?

The OS save dialog (the one you can't keep open) should only close when you hit the save button, or press enter or return to commit the save).
My guess is that something on your OS is interferring with the OS save dialog.

  • Serious problems in Illustrator CC with OSX Mavericks: Open, Place and Save windows don't stay open

I just upgraded to OSX Mavericks. After that, Illustrator started acting up. When I try to save or open a file, or place an image, the command window opens just for a second or two then closes right away. Even the Save shortcut doesn't work. I've saved the file a few times using Command-S, when I was closing it I got a warning that I had to save it. Of course, I couldn't save it using Save As or Save commands because their windows wouldn't stay open, so I had to just close it. When I opened it again, it was an older version; Illustrator just ignored my last two or three saves.
I tried restarting the computer and relaunching Illustrator, nothing worked. The problem was worse when I have InDesign open too. But just quitting InDesign didn’t always work. This morning, I had to quit and relaunch both InDesign and Illustrator a few times before the problem temporarily disappeared.
I think it might also be worth mentioning that I use Apple Trackpad, and my computer is brand new.
Is anyone else having similar problems? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks. But I always have the List View.
One lame thing worked though. I would hit the command short cut and keep hitting it for a few times. This forces the command window to stay open, and it actually helps getting ridding of the problem temporarily.
I also had a similar but nastier problem in Acrobat. I tried to save a Photoshop PDF file in Acrobat, the Save As window opened and closed right away. Then all the command menus went gray; non of the commands was available including Quit. The only option I had was to force quit Acrobat. However, I didn't have this problem when handling native Acrobat files. The good news is that my lame solution worked.

Please guide me how this problem would be solve...?

For URGENT questions go right to https://support.oracle.com and file a Prio 1 SR with Oracle Support. For everything else I don't see why your question is more urgent then others.
Did you check if maybe the port OC4J runs on (8889) is already used by another program (netstat)? Did you check the logfiles?

  • Office 365: dropdown menus don't stay open + theme problem

    Hello
I recently encountered some problems that make the Office 365 unusable. Could you help me figure it out?
    Problems:
These problems appear in every office program: word, excel, power point...
Windows are in some very old 98 looking theme
Office programs appear to be in a window within a window (Image 2)
Dropdown menus in ribbon and in settings stay open less than a second - makes them unusable
    Situation:
Office worked well for 2 months, then problems started
Graphic drivers are up to date
    Windows is up to date
All the other programs work normally
    No recent hardware changes
    Comodo Internet Security installed recently
Automatic updates enabled for pretty much everything
When reinstalling, even the installation windows goes to 98 theme
    My actions:
Selected default theme from control panel, no effect
    Restarted, no effect
Reinstalled Office (Image 1), no effect
Disabled Comodo Internet Security, no effect
Tried running in safe mode, no effect
    My setup:
    Acer R7-572
    Windows 8.1 Pro N
    Office 365
I would post some screenshots, but seems that it is not allowed for me.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi,
Seems you've already tried lots of steps, including a complete reinstallation of Office, but to no avail. As per your description above, I'm thinking it might be something on Windows side that is interfering with Office product.
Have you ever tried to disable the hardware graphics acceleration in Office? Sometimes a recent updated video driver might be incompatible with Office. Please have a try and see if it helps:
Open any Office 2013 component, for example Word 2013, then go to FILE>Options>Advanced
Tick the option of "Disable hardware graphics acceleration" under the section
    Display
If issue persists after the steps above, I would suggest we try to perform a clean boot in Windows and then verify result. This will help to determine whether any program conflict is causing the issue:

    Hope this helps.

It's recommended to download and install

  • Hard drive window won't stay open

When I click on my hard drive icon on the desktop, the window opens but only stays open for about 1 or 2 seconds. Can anyone suggest a fix? Thanks.

Maybe the invisible .DS_Store file in the HD is corrupt.
-launch your Script Editor (Applications>AppleScript>Script Editor) and paste the (blue) code below into it
-then click Run (to delete the .DS_Store file)
do shell script "rm -fr /.DS_Store"

  • Reminders Info Window Won't Stay Open

Reminder info (location, date, time) won't stay open long enough for me to input location. Winndow fades away before it can search for a location i.e. trying to input Airport but fades before I can enter airport name.

I have given up. Sometimes it takes me 4 or 5 times to open the window before I can complete my short entry. I think it definetely has to do with syncing and iCloud. I wish there was a way to setup the frequency of syncs or something.
I have resorted to using notes. It syncs with iCloud, but doesn't seem to show the same quirky behavior
Reminders is SO frustrating to use on any level. It is half baked IMO, this issue, can't sort the lists, can't do a delete all for completed items.

  • Help! Folder Windows won't stay open in the Finder

Please, what is causing this and how do I fix it? Some folders will not stay open in the finder. For instance, when I click on the Applications folder (either the actual or alias), the window will try to open, but before it can show its content, it disappears. This doesn't happen with all folders, only some of them. This is very disturbing.
    Please help if you can.

Through the network I was able to figure out what was going on. There was a weird file, its name was made up of Chinese characters. Whenever it was supposed to show up on the screen of this one mac, the window would close. I guess that particular mac isn't set up to show those characters. I was able to trash that file and that took care of it.

  • Findow Window won't stay open

When I try to open the Mac HD via Double Click or RtClick Open, and ditto if I click the Finder icon in the doc, the Finder window appears for a fraction of a second and then closes. I went to Disk Utility and Verified Disk & Verified Permissions - returns all is OK.
I have an external drive attached and that window opens perfectly,as does my iDisk icon. However if I click on the Mac HD from within the window I open via the external drive, the window immediately closes.
How can I get the window to stay open?

The problem was that the HD was too full. As soon as I freed up some space, the window would stay open. I used the Activity Monitor to discover that my storage space was over 96% used. I deleted and transfered files to external hd and all works jes fine.

  • "File Upload" window won't stay open

When you go to add an attachment/document via the "File Upload" window, you can select Photos from the Media section on the left side, then choose iPhoto library to find the pictures you want to send/upload.
My iPhoto library is pretty large - over 200GB (I take a lot of pictures!) and I can't seem to be able to use this feature. In some apps, the file upload window won't even open any more - it pops up, then closes immediately. In other apps, it just hangs.
Any suggestions (other than delete my photos, which is not an option!)
    Thanks!

Thanks for the response. Sorry for the delay getting back here.
    I get several:
[ERROR] no photo paths dict from iPhoto DB.
    then:
Mozilla has caught an Obj-C exception [NSInvalidArgumentException: * -[NSURL initFileURLWithPath:isDirectory:]: nil string parameter]
What is interesting is that this was happening in every application that I tried to upload/attach files with (Mail, Safari, Firefox) but since I created the account to test with, it only happens with Firefox (at least so far - Safari and Mail are working). I still get the "[ERROR] no photo paths dict from iPhoto DB." messages from Safari but get nothing when attaching in mail.

  • Finder Window Won't Stay Open

This started a couple days ago. When I clicked on the Documents folder in the Finder, the Finder window would close. Now, when I click on the Finder in the Dock or open a new Finder window, the window pops up for 1/2 second and then closes. The entire screen flashes when this happens. Something has gone wrong. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Hi Sleddaddyfro, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Do you have another account you can log into?
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for action in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport in 10.4 & below, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Stuffit AVR has been a big one, if you have that use the Pref Pane to turn it off, but others have been implicated too. Check System Preferences for a Stuffit Pref Pane and disable AVR.

  • CS 6 Image Windows Don't Stay Where I Put Them

I installed CS 6 yesterday.  My system runs 64 bit Win 7.  In Preferences > Interface, as I did in CS 5, I unchecked both Open Documents as Tabs and Enable Floating Document Window.  However, unlike CS 5, in CS 6 images 'insist' on positioning themselves in the upper left corner of CS 6 and will cover both the options bar and the tool bar.  For example, this will happen after opening an image if I try to move it or if I enlarge the image window (CTRL-0).  If I open two images and try to move one so I can see both at the same time, the one I try to move will not stay where I put it but instead will reposition itself to the upper left, and cover the options bar and menu bar.
As you might image, this makes working in CS 6 difficult and inconvenient.  I assume this is a bug, and wonder if there are any workarounds or other solutions.  To this point, I have not yet uninstalled and re-installed CS 6.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Best regards,
    David

Can we assume you hate the Auto-Hide feature even worse?
    Hi,
The answer to your question is 'probably'.  I like things to stay put, ideally where I want them.  So far my feeling is that having the task bar on the bottom is the lesser of the two 'evils'.  But your note reminds me to give auto-hide another try.  Thanks.

  • Windows don't stay maximized, please help.

I'm working with 6i and I have a document window maximized(WINDOW A) withen the MDI. Once I open up another document window, WINDOW A switches from maximized to it's specified size. Is there any way I can bring up another window(like a pop up window) and keep the previous window maximized???

I have no idea why this has happened and have already reinstalled iTunes several times.
    ... it's certainly exotic ...
does anything peculiar seem to happen during the installs? do you get any messages about the install being interrupted, or does the installation just quit abruptly?
    love, b

  • External HD window won't stay open

When I click on the icon for my external HD, the window opens then immediately closes. It started to happen when I changed the View from icons to list. Disk Utility and Data Rescue II both say there is nothing wrong wih the disk... I've seen some other threads with window open/close problems but no one seems to have found a solution.

Go to your Hard Drive Window that is you star up disk> Applications> Utilities> Disk Utility or Spotlight Search Disk Utility. Once that is open select your main drive. And click repair disk permissions and after that restart your Mac. And if That does not work do the same thing except press verify disk and if some thing is to wrong with that it has direction on how to start off of the original disks that came with your mac follow those. Will Check Back Soon Best of Luck.

  • LE8 Multi Instrument Editor Window won't stay open

Following the instructions in the user manual, I have double-clicked on a multi instrument to open the multi instrument window so that I can enter my own program names, however, it is visible for a nanosecond and then disappears. Is there another way to open it?

This has a been a serious bug since the LE9 came out and its a major problem. So far I can find nothing on the bug but tons of people experiencing the same issue. I'm a bit upset that Apple has let something so important remain non functional for so long with no fix in sight.
