Sax parser returned an exception. Message: Invalid character (Unicode: 0x12

Hi,
I'm getting the error 'Sax parser returned an exception. Message: Invalid character (Unicode: 0x12), Entity publicId: , Entity systemId: , Line number: 47, Column number: 75'
when I try and run a report in BI Answers 10g.
Apparently it's to do with a Java applet (or piece of Java code anyway) not being sent to an exception so it can't handle it. The problem is that I can't
run the report to get at some of the views that seem only available at run time. eg. charts.
Does anyone know how I can see behind the scenes of views without running the report?
Or does anyone know how to get rid of this error anyway?
Many thanks,
- Jenny

Hi Satya,
I am facing the same issue. but I am facing this issue with Mozilla Firefox browser only. If I modify same reports in internet explorer I don't get this error.  It seems this issue is with OBIEE 10g version only and Oracle has provided some patches on this in OBIEE 11g .
You have posted this question long back. If you have got any solution for this then please let me know also.

  • Cannot edit wiki pages-- Exception message: Invalid field name

    We have migrated from one Sharepoint 2010 environment to another Sharepoint 2010 environment and only wanted to preserve a few sites, mostly Enterprise Wiki Sites.
    We have imported 5 total Enterprise Wiki Sites, all of which point to particular Term Sets in Managed Metadata.
    2 wikis are pointed to term set A, 2 wikis are pointed to term set B and one wiki is pointed to term set C.
    One of the wikis pointed to term set A is working, and one is not
    The malfunctioning wiki has the following symptom:
    Whenever you try to edit a page (new or existing) and save your changes, regardless of whether it is tagged, you cannot save your changes.  When you try, you get the error below.
    Error
    Failed to get value of the "Wiki Categories" column from the "Managed Metadata" field type control. See details in log. Exception message: Invalid field name. {f863c21f-5fdb-4a91-bb0c-5ae889190dd8}

    Go back to site
    To me, it looks like there is an invalid URL, since it gives the URL path, and then there is a space, and then it also has a relative URL to /wiki/adminwiki/pages ...is this normal?
    Any ideas on how to fix this is great.  I don't think it has anything to do with the Managed Metadata service or the Term Store since the other wiki site (pointing to the same exact Term Set) is working normally with no problems.

    To solve the problem make sure that the template you are using for the current page (with errors) has the same content type as the page. In example of the Enterprise Wiki page, I forgot to set the content type to an Enterprise Wiki page on a custom page
    template I just added to the Master pages.
    So what I had to do is:
    go to properties of the page with errors described above and set it to be
    Enterprise Wiki page
    go to master pages and set the custom template to be of the same type, Enterprise Wiki page
    That solved the problem

    Which OS did you install ZCM 11.3a on? I'm guessing Linux based.

  • I get an error message "invalid character in line 1" when loading my ISP's webmail program

    I've tried ALL possible solutions offered in the Firefox articles without success. No problem with any other web sites, just the web mail site offered by the ISP, which blames Firefox. However, I can load the web mail site in IE (don't want to, though). The web mail program first gives the error message then allows login information to be filled in, then starts initializing and gets to "90%" of initializing then freezes while the wheel goes round 'n' round. Any ideas?

    In looking at the console (first time - I am a naive user, not an expert) I find that there is a 404 error appearing on the 6th line of puts and gets in the console. All subsequent lines are 404 file not found errors, until the computer hangs. Here is the reading of the 5th and 6th line:
    16:01:02.248 PUT https://www.webmail.bellaliant.net/ajax/multiple [HTTP/1.1 200 OK 443ms]
    16:01:03.366 GET https://www.webmail.bellaliant.net/ox6/v=OEU5Kkd/plugins/com.openwave.richmail.userguide/lang/en_US.po [HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found 32ms]
    Now I have found a virus on scanning the computer with Bitdefender, and I believe the problem may be caused by malware attached to a script library. Bitdefender says it cannot clean the file. Here is the message from Bitdefender:
    c:\users\Tim\AppData\Local\Temp\DI\ValidationSctiptLibrary.dll has been detected as infected. Bitdefneder could not clean this item. Your computer is not virus-free. Virus name:Gen:Variant.Adware.AdGazelle.1
    Cor-el suggests cleaning the Firefox memory with "forget about this site" - will that remove the problem?

    I've enabled OBIEE 10.1.3.3.2 on Suse Linux 9.x writeback successfully for an OBIEE report, however if any of the fields contain XML special characters like ampersand, less than, greater than symbols etc when I save I get error:

  • OBIEE Sax Parser Error in Firefox only?

    I was working on a report in Answers and came across the following error when trying to "Display" the results
    Sax parser returned an exception. Message: An exception occurred! Type:UnexpectedEOFException, Message:The end of input was not expected, Entity publicId: , Entity systemId: , Line number: 1, Column number: 1862
    The report, when viewed on a dashboard works perfectly fine, its ONLY when I try to "Display" the results in Answers I hit the above error.
    The interesting thing also is that I tried Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Firefox
    ONLY Firefox is throwing this error.
    I am using the latest version of Firefox (ver 22)
    OBIEE is version 10.1.3.4.0
    Again, everything with the report works just great its just when I try to display the results in answers that it throws an error.

    I think my issue just got worse
    Now when I log into Answers and try to view the report I see the following error
    State: HY000. Code: 1736874543. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 27005] Unresolved column
    The biggest issue I am noticing now is that my column names are actually changing!
    So when I first log into the report in Answers I see the columns being used are
    Type Animal
    Type Tree
    I click on "Display Results" which yields the above error
    Now when I click back to the columns view, the column names have changed to the following
    Adjusted Animal = Type
    High Yield Tree = Type
    The column names have totally changed
    I am now guessing there may be an error some where in the RPD, between the physical/presentation and business model layer.
    Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

  • Exception message, failed to get value, could not load managed metadata, invalid field name

    Hi, i have created some site collection columns with managed metdata and taxonomy term sets. I have then created some site content types of those site columns. Some of them function properly and some don't.
    When i have created or uploaded a document to the document library i start to "tag" the document by first choosing witch conent type i want too use, but when it comes to save the document it renders an error message(its not the full content
    of the message):
    "exception message, failed to get value, could not load managed metadata, invalid field name"
    I have created some other site content types before and with the same site columns and they do not generate a error message. Is there a solution for my dilemma?

  • Invalid XML Character (Unicode: 0x0)

    Hello guys,
    I have a problem with one mapping. The error is that there is an invalid character ( Unicode: 0x0 ). I have seen this is the null character, but how can I found it?
    I can't test the message mapping because we have a dynamic configuration function, or there is anyway to test it avoiding the function?
    How can I know what is the wrong character? There is any tool that opening the file I can see the character in error.
    The scenario is File -> PI -> Proxy
    The error is in the message mapping of PI, and file is being taken with Content Conversion, Text Format and UTF-8.
    In message mapping the occurence is 0..unbounded so there are no mandatory fields.
    Normally this interface is running well but sometimes we have this error.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Xavi.

    Hi Xavi,
    " suppose we have to do it before to take the file, or another way could be to take the file without content conversion, and with a java mapping delete the nulls and create the message we send to R/3.
    What do you think about this?"
    Ans)
    Yes that's correct. You can follow this blog http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/4018
    where without FCC the mapping code directly creates the target XML.  you can add code to replace all null characters as example shown below
    String line = bin.readLine();
    String s="";
    for(int i=0;i<line.length();++i)
         if(line.charAt(i)!=)0X00)
            s=s+line.charAt(i);
    line=s;
    Any source interface is fine in interface mapping and no need to use FCC. Rest all setrtings will be normal as per the blog.

  • Catch RFC Exception message text

    Hi Experts,
    I am calling a RFC from WebDynpro using adaptive RFC Model.
    This RFC returns some Exception message along with the exception key from SAP R/3.
    Like this :
    MESSAGE e000(ztxx01) WITH 'this is exception message'
         RAISING table_not_available.
    Now when i am trying to fetch this data in WebDynpro using the following statement:
    msgmgr.reportException(ex.getLocalizedMessage(), false);
    msgmgr.reportException(ex.getMessage(), false);
    I can only see  TABLE_NOT_AVAILABLE .
    How can i fetch the exception message thrown by RFC?
    Regards,
    Ashish Shah

    Hi Ashish
    you can't get the RFC-Messages directly (as i know).
    You have to rebuild your
    ABAP-Program that the errors will be redirected as a table.
    There it gives a structure named 0_return (i don't know exactly) this is the standard table for outgoing error-messages.

    Hi All,
    For anyone who this happens to, what ended up fixing it was uninstalling and reinstalling excel.  I was using excel 2010, so I did this
    Go to add/remove programs
    Highlight Microsoft Office Professional 2010
    Click Change
    ensure Add remove features is selected and click continue
    click on the little arrow beside excel and click on Not Available, click continue
    After it is done, excel will be uninstalled.
    When this is done, you can do the same process again, but this time chose the other appropriate selection
    instead of not available.  I chose Run All from My Computer.

  • Fix Invalid XML character (Unicode: 0x1c) before xml data parsing

    How to fix the error :- "An invalid XML character (Unicode: 0x1c) was found in the element content of the document."
    This error message is generated before parsing of xml data.
    So how to filter the unwanted characters like 0x1c during XML file generation?

    ASCII has nothing to do with it. XML is a text format and so an XML file may only include text characters. 0x7 isn't a text character, it's a control character, and it isn't allowed to occur in an XML file.
    As for how to identify which character is causing the problem, the error message tells you that.

  • Error parsing document index: invalid character in attribute value

    Hi,
    I am working on an eBook with iBook Author. Once in a while, after I finish working, and want to reopen my eBook a few hours or days after I get the error:
    'title' could not be opened
    Error parsing document index: invalid character in attribute value
    I have to go back to an old backup I always do before quitting.
    What is the reason of this error message and anyw ay to fix/repair it on a version I just saved?
    Thanks,
    JP.

    Hello,
    I have the same error, but for me the above solution did not work.
    Did I understand correctly? This is what I did:
    1. I changed the extension of the IBA file in ZIP
    2. I unzipped the file
    3. in the folder with the unzipped book I have changed the file index.xml in index.html
    4. I zipped it all back (in a ZIP file)
    5. I renamed the extension ZIP archive in IBA
    6. I tried to open the book and I got  the error that there was no index.xml file
    7. I changed the extension of the IBA and in ZIP
    8. I unzipped the file again
    9. I changed back index.xml to index.html and I zipped it back (compressed it)
    10. I renamed the extension ZIP archive in IBA
    11. I opened the book
    Is this correct?
    The problem is that I am still receiving the same error message: Error parsing document index: invalid character in attribute value
    Did I do something wrong?
    If you can help I would be very greatfull, I worked hard on this book and it is the only backup that I have saved.
    Thank you!
