SB 24Bit Live Card - Choppy so

Hi.
I recently built my new pc system. Prior to making it, i ordered a Creative P5800 speaker set, which i used, hassle free for months before buying the other parts. I bought a Creative Soundblaster 24bit Li've card - OEM, and installed it. It was working fine, up until a month ago, when the audio started to cut out at random intervals. At first, i thought the card was getting heat from a graphics card, so i moved it to the lowest PCI slot. The problem keeps returning, though only happens randomly. It seems to be cured when the volume on the remote is turned off completely, and then back on again, from which it return at a later period.
I realise this might be a problemw with the controller, but i wanted to post here (and in the speaker section) to see if it beared fruit.
TIA
Sam

  • New computer has a Soundblaster 24bit Live card and I am seriously disapointed? Anyo

    Hi-
I just bought a new Dell Dimension 3000 desktop. I replaced my old HP 520N but am disapointed with this sound card... I game alot like Counter Strike and listen to alot of music. I mostly use winamp and windows media player.. Well today when I got the new Dell I couldn't wait to hear this new sound card. On my HP I only used the onboard processor dri'ven sound, and by far that sounded awesome with my Altec Lansing satelites and sub.... But this Creative card sounds real low and muffled? I Can't figure out what could be wrong? I tried all the options and still I have to turn my speakers up to half to 3/4s and check the creative volume at more than half to listen at a decent level? My old pc Did this performance at like /4 the speaker volume and half the windows pc volume? Just seems to me that this card might be shot or something is wrong with my setup? I have the speakers plugged into the green output on the card. that is the only one I could get sound from. I can't seem to turn the onboard sound on for this computer to test it against the card? Can anyone offer me some insight or help? I know these are in fact low end as far as money goes but you would think it would be better than onboard sound and so far its way below that...
Thanks for your help and INFO!!!Spankey

I tried messing with direct out and such but no avail.. It seems that when I play a normal audio cd it sounds AWESOME.. But when I play mp3s on my pc they sound lower almost as if they are not of quality at all? I even tried to convert them to wav files to see if that would work but nothing...
Again, sound effects and original cds sound incredible.. Guess I am done listening to mp3s on my pc
Thanks again for your info and help...

  • Xbox Live cards not activated - Bought online and picked up in store

I got this as a birthday gift but when I try to activate the xbox live cards, it says they are not activated.
    The order number is {removed per forum guidelines}
I've been trying for about a week now, trying every day since it says to try again later.
I don't want to return it, I just want the cards activated.

    Hello otguy87-
It’s awesome that you received Xbox Live cards as a birthday gift, but it would have been even more awesome had they been activated to begin with.  I’m sorry to hear that we’ve caused you some frustration with this.
Regrettably, we are unable to activate these cards remotely; you would need to bring the cards back to the store along with the invoice for assistance from the store with activating or replacing the cards as needed.
I apologize for any further inconvenience that this causes you.

    Many thanks

I haven't had 5.1 installed for a long time. Have you checked there are no shipped examples through the example finder or its equivalent.

  • Bought Xbox One Sunday. Can I get the free Xbox Live card at the "Holiday Shopping Event"

I am referencing this event coming up thi Saturday, November 8th: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/seo/null/pcmcat344700050000.c?acampID=0&ref=8575135&loc=0&id=pcmcat34470...

Plus Free Xbox Live 12-Month Gold Membership
Limit 1 per household. No rainchecks. Products must be purchased on the same receipt to receive package savings. See a Customer Specialist for details.
I bought an Xbox One Assassin's Creed bundle this Sunday, November 2nd. Is this bundle eligible for this promotion? And furthermore and more importantly, as I bought the Xbox One bundle less than a week before this promotion takes place, am I eligible to get the Xbox Live card for free on Saturday without having to buy another Xbox One?

    Hi jimmykup,
A free Xbox Live 12-Month Gold Membership is a great deal, so I can understand asking if the Xbox One bundle you recently purchased would be eligible.  As offizzdeapo14 mentioned, the terms of the offer state that the Xbox One and Xbox Live membership would need to be purchased on the same receipt during the Holiday Shopping Event in-order to be eligible for the promotional savings.  With that being said, the Xbox One bundle that you purchased would not be eligible because it was not purchased during the actual event.
Thank you for posting to the forum and enjoy your new Xbox One!

  • Using onboard audio with SB Live card installed

Is it possible (or even wise) to use onboard audio with a SB Live Value card installed. I need to keep the SB Live card as I still have a couple of gameport devices, but I'd like to take advantage of the onboard audio (or should that be free myself from the disdavantages of the SB Live).
I guess the key issue is diabling the SB Live sound but still keeping the gameport active. Is this do-able or am I just opening a can of worms ?

Could well be a can of worms.
I can only say that I have had both installed on my K7n420 NF1 and was able to switch back and forth, all I did was set what sound controller I wanted to be used in the sound device config in the windows sound control panel.
Try it and see....but I am a bit pessimistic as far as it doing what you expect.

The card has been long discontinued and Creative will not support it any longer. The drivers made by Daniel_k are your only option. I have set someone's PC up running those on Windows 7 and they do work but not that great. It is actually worse than onboard sound.

  • WinFast PVR2000 and Sound Blaster 24bit Live crackl

    Hello dear colleagues.
I am monitoring the crackling issue with Sound Blaster cards for some time now.
I have Sound Blaster 24bit Li've sound card. It crackles rarely, every 5-0 minutes maybe one small crackle or peak pop.
When I am recording with Adobe Audition on LINE IN when crackle happens it is not recorded in the main signal so that is ok.
Now, I am using also WINFAST PVR 2000 cad (TV card).
When I am recording COMPOSITE or SVIDEO with WINFAST from time to time there are crackles which are unfortunately recorded inside the file too during the capture.
I am wondering has anyone noticed those crackles with WINFAST and 24bit li've...
I have by the way updated Bios, SIS video card driver, WINFAST PVR driver and Blaster 24 bit driver. They are updated but crackles with WINFAST are also there.
I am wondering is there maybe solution with some kind of latency setting for WINFAST card or Blaster card? They are all set as 32 by default.
Or there are some other solution. Any other WINFAST and 24bit users out there how are noticing similar problem with crackling during COMPOSITE and SVHS capture?

You can also check up this little Knowledgebase article SID4863 guide which may be helpful to you. Of cos, it still depend on the type of connector your TV have.

  • Soundblaster 24Bit Live External - SPDIF issues on Vista 32B

Hey everyone!!As the title says i'm using the Soundblaster 24Bit Li've External connected through the optical?out to a external processor. I'm able to get sound from all the 6ch but there is something wrong. When i'm using WinDVD the SPDIF option is greyed out and i'm not getting true Dolby Digital sound. When I use windows XP i can select spdif as output and ''Dolby Digital'' appears on the external processor. On the sound properties i selected ''Digital Out Only'' and ''Let the software handle playback'' (or something like this) and it didn't solve the problem. Any help is appreciated. Thx in advance

    can anyone help?

  • Computer Crashes with Creative Labs Sound Blaster 5.1 Live Card

Several weeks ago when I booted up my computer a msg apeared saying new device found(the sound blaster card mentioned in the title) even tough it had worked for months beofre then and even the night b4. Shortly after I get a beep from the mother board and the computer crashes several seconds after start up.
I thought maybe their could be some conflicting driver issues or something so I checked the BIOS and it said the onboard sound was disabled. Restarting the computer several times it kept crashing. I removed the card, booted up the computer and everything worked fine (except the sound) and it did not crash. I tried putting the card in the other PCI slots thinking that was the problem but it crashed each time.
Right now the card it ploped on the desk and I have the Creative 5. speakers running off the onboard card on my Is7-E mobo but the sound is **bleep**ty as hell and the speakers are ligned up corectly and I am having all sorts of trouble with that. I am getting basic sound though. I havnt had time to pursue the matter untill now. Do you guys think the card for some reason is damaged or Its an issue on my computer Crashing it's
    Thanks,
    -Mark

Heh, srry about using the S word. Ah, I whiped all the audio drivers etc...from the guid in that link. I poped the card in, booted up the computer...alas it still crashed. So now I have to get my temp sound working again. Is their anyway to tell if a compenent is phsicly dmged? I can not be shure if this is a software issue(which I dont think it is because I followed your whipe guid) or a hardware issue. I dont understand what could of hapened to it, it simply stoped working. Im not shure why my computer crashes at start up as mentioned above and doent simply not work. Any more thoughts would be great.

  • Creative Playcenter wont install. I have an older Sb LIVE card with no softw

My center speaker is not working. Many people here state that activating CMSS will make it work. I however no longer have my SBLIVE software. I downloaded the Update to Creative Playcenter but it would not let me install it. I need a previous version!!! Is there a way around this?

Dude, I was not shouting back at you. I put Creative player in caps to emphasize what I was asking. Thanks for the help but those files do not contain Creative Playcenter. You can not be assuming I was yelling at you. If I was everything would be in ca
    ps.
You need to step back and enjoy the forum. I am in no way yelling at you. Just relax. And thanks for the help.
And since your not going to reply anymore. Does anyone out there know if this will make my center speaker work. Someone stated that the CMSS feature I believe in Creative Playcenter will solve the problem?

  • EMU or X-Fi for 2 channel music?

The EMU cards have been around for a while, but the X-Fi is just out and seems to be a good card. I don't play games, all I care about is just good 2 channels playback.
This card will be used just for music playback (I will just feed the 2 channels stereo out the card to my CD in of my preamp processor with my pream-processor set to bypass the signal from the card as is)
Should I invest in an EMU 1212M or the X-Fi Elite pro card?
    Thanks,

    www_96KHz_tk wrote:
what you want is just a very standard pci-soundcard. This because you just want stereo, so you really don't need Emu A2zs A4 or X-FI...
goto computershop and buy the cheapest pci soundcard, it has probably more features that you want, but emu/X-Fi is too heavy for just 2 channels playing music.
i guess a AWE32 or AWE64 or Ensoniq AudioPCI or 16PCI or onboardaudio is enough for you.
even a 24bit live card has way too much, if you just want to play 16bit stereo audio sound. so a card below 20 dollar should be fine.Message Edited by www_96KHz_tk on 09-17-2005 12:25 PM
Sorry, but I don't think you understand what I want. Ok, let me be more specific.
My home theater so far includes:
An Aragon Stage One Preamp Processor combined with one Aragon 2002 amplifier (For the Front) and One Aragon 2005 feeding the Center/Surrounds and Surround back speakers.
My Speakers are all Klipsch Reference series(RF7/RC7 front/Center, RF35 surrounds, RB5 rear, and an RW-12 sub). So far, I'm using a Home Theater computer ((Audigy 2ZS) SPDIF out is connected to my Preamp processor) for DVD playback and also music(mp3/CD) playback.
    For DVD playback:
I setup the audigy/DVD player to output the AC3 stream via SPDIF, and all decoding is done by my pre/pro.
    For music plaback:
(All my CDs are ripped in my computer using a lossless ripper (APE)). Also sending the PCM stream over SPDIF to my pre/pro.
I'm using winamp configured with the following plugins (Mad (24bit) ->Asio (upsampled to 96KHz). While this setup sounds excellent, but I wondering if buying a sound card in the rank of the EMU or the X-Fi can help me archieve the best audio quality possible (comparable to the most expensive high end audiophile CD players). Or, do you think it is a waste, feeding such quality audio equipments with the noisy output of a sound card?
I don't want to spend a $1000 for a Lynx 2B or RME sound card, I just want the best bang for the buck, and it seems the Creative EMU line or the X-Fi may be it.
How do the DAC/ADC on the EMU cards compare to the X-Fi?
Can the DAC of the EMU, or X-Fi cards rivale my Aragon Stage one DAC? (If I have to connect the analog outs of the sond card directly to my amplifier)
You see, using an HTPC for music/movie playback is so convenient, since I have quick access to over 5000 songs right there in my computer.
    Thanks,
    Sorry, for my english.

  • Sound blaster 5.1 live! 24bit probl

Hi all, i am currently havin some problems with my sound blaster 5. li've! 24bit sound card. I just updated my driver. It seems that with the new di'ver, the 0077, when i play some aduio on windows media player and i put in a game cd or any cd that has audio, my windows media player gives me an error. I had no problems with the previous 0076 driver on this issue. And also when i play any audio and i open another window or page anywhere on my pc my audio starts making crackling and distortion?noises. Is there any fix for this or does anyone know any solution to this issue? I would greatly appreaciate any help. I?am using Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit. Cheers

    Hello,
I've got a 5. system and a li've!24bit too, but I've got no problem. In the eax-console, select surround-mixer, and click on advance, you can adjust the volume of the speakers seperatly, doesn't this help?
