SB Audigy 2ZS Plarinum Pro: setting source for recording

Hello!
I am having problems setting the source for recording. I want to set the recording source from 'Wave' (default) to 'Line-In /Mic'. After doing so with the mixer or the MediaSource Player it resets to 'Wave' after some time. Why? Can I force the software to make 'Line-In /Mic' the default setting? It really dri'ves me nuts to see that the source has changed without me being notified. I want to have the source changed only by myself and not by some cozmic radiation, God's will, voodoo magic and whatnot.

So can you go to control panel, and sound and there look at your recording devices and tell me what do you see? If your desired device is there, you can choose it as the default and then throughout the rest of windows, this will be THE global default recording device or the first choice, when you are in other programs to record from. Also, make sure your device is plugged in when making this change. On my system with that board, a few years ago, I could make the choice, but it would always pick something else when the source was unplugged. For example, if I were using the front bay inputs as recording, when I would unplug them and reboot, my system picked the next thing as default.
Next go into to your Creative Control panel and do the same thing there. Theoretically your choices should be linked, but this is not always the result. I can choose mine in Vista and windows 7, but lastly I always go to the Creative mixer applet and do it there and that works best. For me, my default is my front panel Mic or Microphone FP but as soon as I unplug it, it wants to make my back mic jack the default.

Pinnacle Studio 9 + Audigy 2ZS Plat Pro = HEL

After uninstall & reinstalling with a step-by-step procedure supplied by Pinnacle tech, I'm trying to find someone that had/has the same problem. Everything works fine except in Set-Up my sound card is recognized only in the "CD, Voice Over & Surround" drop down list, and not recognized in the Capture Source > Audio (Capture Devices) drop down list. A few things:
You said to disable the realtek onboard sound via the bios of the motherboard; restart and see if it works but how do I do this?
You also said "make sure you have selected the Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS as the device for recording (not only for playback" but surely if I disable RealTekl then thew Soundblaster will take over? If not, I normally select it via Windows sound control is that the way you reccommend also?
Also, "in your case when the Realtek onboard soundchip is enable, the Realtek onboard sound may be configured as the default device for recording instead of the Audigy 2 ZS)" but all I know is that I currently have the SB selected for both rec and playback - though there are no LINE IN or MIC options available.
I have just double checked by going into sound devices in Control Panel and the Plat Pro is already pre selected for record and playback.

Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro in Vista x64: "Skipping" (Distortion) when record

Hi! I've just setup Vista x64 and installed the latest Drivers for my Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro. Besides the fact that there's no software available for convenient control of the features of my soundcard (Surround Mixer, Speaker Settings, THX Console etc.), everything is fine for playback (after adjusting the bass and treble-sliders to their 0dB-Position!). But I've got a massive problem when recording audio, or when using the microphone: I can play back sound from any source without distortion, but when recording it or using the microphone for VoIP-Applications like Skype, Teamspeak or In-game communication, I get a constant "skipping" distortion like the clicking when a CD is defective and skips.
It sounds like short disruptions which come at regular, very short intervals (approx. 0 per second or so). This effect is always present, irrespective of the load situation of the system and does not change with it. In XP32, my Audigy 2ZS still works like a charme. Furthermore, I've got a "PCI Input Device" in Device Manager with a question mark, although the Firewire-Port does work. Could this be the Gameport not beeing recognised But that's not nearly as problematic as the flaw from above... Thanks in advance for your advice!

I'd like to also add that I have been observing this same problem for quite some time now. While I do not frequently have a need to record, that is changing now and I would rather not have to reboot to Windows XP in order to have functional recording capabilities.
I am currently running a dual-boot configuration of Windows XP/SP2 and Windows Vista Ultimate 64-Bit/SP, with the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum soundcard, and the latest drivers available for the card as of today's date (0/7/2008).
A clip of audio to illustrate the problem may be heard by saving and playing the MP3 file found at http://ambress.com/audigy/audio_recording_fault.mp3. The following graphic also illustrates how the sound is like a series of recorded pulses, making recording completely useless.
I would greatly appreciate any feedback confirming this problem by Creative and what solution is available or when one is to be expected. If a solution is known by any users that perhaps I have missed in searching the forum, of course I'd be grateful for that help as well.

Connecting vcr to external SB Audigy 2zs Platinum Pro

I've just joined, so apologies if I "mess up". I have some precious things on vhs tape, and want to transfer them to cd/dvd. I run Windows XP. I have to use rca connections, don't think there's another option on the vcr. I see the red and white rca connections on the back of the external 2zs, but where does the yellow (video) connection go? Would be very grateful for help. TIA.

I did send mail to Creative, but they haven't had the courtesy to respond. If I use the 2zs for the audio connection, can I then attach the video connection from the vcr to a separate video capture card? Will this bring everything together and in synch? Sorry, I'm still very much on L plates with all this. Once I get things on to the computer, I can then edit out what I don't want, and burn the rest to cd/dvd; or that's what I'm hoping!! It's getting the data from the vcr tape that's the stumbling block. I know there are?expensi've machines that you can put the vhs tape in and it will copy direct to dvd, my friend has one, but she doesn't know whether you can pause the recording (disk) and let the tape continue running till she gets to the next bit she wants to copy, then start the disk again. TIA of further help.

Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro - breakout box not work

I have an an external external breakoput box which was working fine in my old computer. I upgraded the mother board and cpu and installed the Audigy as before. The actual card works but the break out box doesn't light up. If I plug the external box firewire cable in to another firewire port on the computer the power LED lights but that's all. Any ideas anyone?

I am sorry to bump this topic but it is the same as my question and does not seem to have been answered.
I have a Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro - my old one which I decided to use in lieu of the on-board sound. I installed the latest drivers I could find SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_18_0017.exe (after unistalling the existing ones)
The card itself works fine but the external interface box is as dead as a doornail. The power for the interface is supposed to come from the two connectors.
No lights no nothing - obviously I have checked the leads and the seating of the card itself. Playback is fine on MP3, midi, wave files etc. I have disabled the on-board sound in the BIOS of course.
Unfortunately the jacks on the back of the card are 1/8 in. outputs only and the external interface provides the inputs which I need for recording etc. They are 1/4in proper ones - guitar lead size which are much better.
I know it is an old card but I like it. The last time I used in in my old computer it was fine. Card/drivers show up in the device manager. I have installed this both on a Win 7 partition and a Win XP partition on my 2 HDDs with the same result. :mansad:
Any ideas appreciated! Is there something I am doing wrong? Thanks.

Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro - ...trying to record with Videostudio, Virtual VCR, Roxio DVD Builder

...just bought (and installed) a SoundBlaster Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro - the one with the "breakout box" - to replace the on-board Dell audio sound system, which seems to have died after 4 months.
I am able to get good, clear sound from any and all applications that use "playback" audio.
At present, I can get "playback sound" from one program feature that came with my capture device - an Aver Media USB 300, which was plugged in to the "Line in 2" socket on the break out box. Then I tried to record with it... - "Record Operation Failure!" I'm stilll waiting to see what responses I get from the Aver message board in that regard.
Then I tried recording video (and the accompanying audio) with Ulead Videostudio 8, Virtual VCR, and Roxio DVD Builder, none of which could record sound, even in "preview mode". Before the on board sound system stopped functioning, those features worked on all of the above programs except for Virtual VCR, which I hadn't yet installed or tried out.
I've checked the Play/Record Volume Control in "Accessories/Entertainment" and the Line 2 is activated and selected. I've tried plugging in to Line /Mic but that hasn't worked either. I need to go to Radio Shack to get an adapter to plug in to Line 3 and give that a try.
But before I spend even more money, have you ever seen anything like this?

Thanks kindly for the suggestion, during the installation it did not complain about this patch being installed allready, I'll give this one more shot and see if it persits.
I ran memtest on the machine (10 cycles) wow this thing (G5) is loud in single user mode. I guess the fans don't have power management enabled.
I'm guessing that the issue is from lack of RAM, (512) but I am not 100% on this. Though my research points towards that, It's kind of odd that an app would reach into some other memory segment.

Audigy 2zs notebook - Can hear but NOT record effect of Graphic Equalizer

Dear people,
Audigy 2zs notebook card, using with sonar-le to record (and also with Audacity).
I can record all I play with my soft synths, and mic voice, perfectly. Various tracks simultneously.
Playback is also great.
I use sonar-le in Asio 2-Mode, and MME and all works good.
HOWEVER, I bring up the Creative equalizer, and I enable it, it makes a NOTORIOUS difference.. I can enable it while I am recording, before, or after.
So I record a track as usual, but I enable the equalizer, and I am FINDING-OUT that I can not seem to be able to RECORD the effect of the creative EQUALIZER!
Even though I can hear it in and out, big difference, the track recorded wave continues to record as if it does not see the equalizer at all.
I have tried all available inputs and many many things, but I just can not get the eq. effects to RECORD.
I have two speakers connected to the dongle that attaches to the notebook card... I have also tried using headphones, directly connected to card, and all I can think. I tried also mme mode.
I also tried audacity and same. Can't get the recording to be like what I hear with the headphones.
Why would this be? How can I solve the problem?

I haven't seen any details of the internal layout/architecture of the sound card, but I don't think that would help you in terms of some new configurations for recording.
In terms of recording capability, since there is only one input port with the NOtebook card, you are of course fairly limited in terms of connectivity, unless you have an external mixer (if you are talking about recording two things at the same time).
However, the audio quality of the Notebook card is certainly good enough to record very good quality audio with S/N, THD etc. My opinion is that people spend way too much time fussing about specs, noise etc. where in reality, most external transducers (mics, guitars etc.) always limit the recorded quality (unless you have really good professional recording gear and you have a lot of experience.
I've heard outstanding quality recorded music made on recording gear with much poorer specs than the Notebook card.
Best thing with your Notebook card is do what you've been doing. Use it and experiment and concentrate on the music generation itself.

I gather that the application may not be downloadable, specially if it is third-party. I do have the Synth effect, though that I can plug into Sonar.. I like the hardware enabled effects, though, specially since my music playing/recording system is a little complex.
Yes, I do have external hardware mixers, and though there is only the mic/line input, that's not too bad since this card has MANY internal inputs and outputs that I DO USE. All? of my instruments and music is now software based..Only the Mic is external. That's why the hardware synth of the 2zs laptop is so attracti've.. It does not bear on cpu or data... That's why I asked about architecture info orient myself.
Also, I may be wrong, but I read that many of the hardware capabilities of the 2zs notebook card are no longer there on the newer cards... That effects and other things are now mostly software based? Is that so?...Can I use two cards on the laptop, the 2 zs and the express slot one simultneously and have more inputs/outputs?
I am still interested in all practical possibilities, and I do like the Creative soundcards.
The great thig is that you told me that the Eq can not be recorded, so that's very important to me.. I can still record it, though out into a second laptop via the headphone jack. But I will try the VST's I have here first and see how they feel and sound.
It really amazes me, though, that I can hear the effect, but there's no way to record it.
Maybe a new driver could do it's

6i is an old version and I don't remember if there is a Set_Item_Instance_Property() built-in. If yes, you can use it with a Visual Attribute that held the colors.

The set up sounds like it would work fine, but what do you intend to record, a full band during live performances, or home recording guitar and vocals over some MIDI bass/drums/keyboard tracks?
You may want additional input channels to have better control of the mix if you intend to record a full band and need to isolate the different instruments/vocals.
You can always use a mixer board and just record from the line-outs of the PA if you are happy with the live mix. The MacBook has 2-channel (Stereo left/right) audio inputs built-in. So you really only need the FW input box if you lack a PA system or other mixer and want the flexibility of added simultaneous track recording. So, I guess it depends if you think you might need additional vocal channels and instruments, then maybe consider a mixer board with more inputs. Check the specs to see how many simultaneous independent inputs are sent to the computer.
The computer and software should do the trick. I haven't used Logic, just played around with Garage Band and an older version of Cubasis.

RH7- WebHelp Pro setting destination for RH Server 8

I'm trying to set the RH Server 8 "area" in the Destination window using RH7 and WebHelp Pro layout but there's not field available. Because of this, the default is always the "general" area, which means I cannot separate out my 4-5 projects for reporting purposes using the Access database.
FYI - The same is true for FlasHelp Pro layout using RH7 and RH8 (which I'm testing). However, in RH8, you can specify the area if you're using WebHelp Pro as primary layout.
Since I'm not allowed to switch to RH8 at this time because of internal procedures, I want to publish my projects using WebHelp Pro layout in RH7. Is there any way to plug the server area into the project without having to redo the set up every time?

My guess is that John is facilitating a class as he hasn't yet made an appearance. So maybe near lunchtime but more likely this evening unless he is traveling.
Just speculating on this but as Colum indicated, areas are new to 8 so I'd be shocked to see them being listed as an option in a patched up 7.

Can't use compiler constant to set source for embed tag in ASC2.0

I'm poring an application to ASC2.0. The code I'm talking about is being compiled as a flash movie, but I'm sure it applies to AIR also.
So we have some code like this:

This code compiles, but at runtime, the TextClass is null. If I replace the embed line with this, it works.

If I change the source string location, compilation fails. If I change the content of the compile constant, it does not fail, regardless if it points to a correct location or not.
Seems like another ASC2.0 bug. I suggest to open a forum that deals with ASC2.0 specifically.

OK. I know why. Its because although i create the version entity before i called the SQL. the new version entity hasn't been stored in the database, its still in the container. My colleague and me checked this by setting up a timestamp in the Version table and compared it with the time in the log. when i called SQL, the entry hasn't been created!

Setting source for image field

I'm still trying to find a way around my "watermark" issues. It doesn't have to be a watermark, per se. I just need to be able to put the picture on the form based on user submission. Here's what I've done, but it's not working as I expected. Perhaps someone can help?
The livecycle form has an image object. It also has a dropdown selection. Depending on what the user selects in the dropdown, I change the href of the image. Although the field accepts my input, it doesn't actually SHOW the image that I put referenced.
Another important point I've left out of my previous posts....
There is a great deal said about how it is easy to confuse changing the appearance of the document without changing the layout. Actually, this is exactly what I want to do. When I am totally done with everything, I intend to flatten the whole thing and save it as an unchangeable document. (This may require printing to a PDF print driver.) In other words, my application is not about the DATA in the form, but the LOOK of the form when it's filled out.

Given an image field, how do I programatically change the actual image it displays?

I believe this is one of the security restrictions in Acrobat. You can't redirect to an external source programatically. If you want the user to be able to switch pictures based on a listbox selection, you must embed each picture in the document. If you want to display an image that is not embedded, you are basically stuck with the "click-and-browse" functionality that is the default behaviour of an image field.

Having a problem with the exteral box,getting absoloutly no sound frm line in #3(audio L/R),even tho its been working for quite some time. Thought it my have been drivers or programs so unistalled/reinstalled all and updated all to current and still no sound!Any help would be appreciated.

the scritch of death for soundcard can be caused by many things.
you should first check the knowledge base and follow the classic advises to fine tune your BIOS and os configuration.
There is no official Creative lab linux drivers but you can check http://opensource.creative.com/ and the ALSA project.
