SB Live External 24-

Hello, i have SB li've external and i have problem with USB bandwidth, but i found this:
Li've External not support USB 2.0, and USB. have not enough bandwith. So if I select in speaker settings "5." quality can be only 6bit. Is it true? How can I listen 5. in 24 bit's (f.e. upgrade firmware to support USB 2.0)
And second query:
Subwoofer out is acti've only in speaker selection 5., but I need to activate sub out in 2. too.
Is there any way how to activate sub in 2. ?
Thank you and sorry for my poor english.

The feature missing from the drivers that you'll need is CMSS. The Feb 3 drivers don't have it. Will have to wait and see if CL releases more drivers with this support.

  • SB Live External with Vi

    Hi Friends,
? I installed Vista and my SB li've card didn't work so I bought a USB Li've External. It came with a Vista disk. I use my sound card to mostly play along with midi or mp3s. I can't hear the line in. I can turn on Playback Monitoring but my input signal?is about /4 of a second behind. I have downloaded updates and nothing changes. I also have no mixer to change the volumn of midi or Line in. I have searched the archi'ves and found a few references to the subject but no solution.
I must be missing something. If you could point me to the info or the right thread I would be much grateful.
    Thank You
    Jerry

    Hi.
I have exactly the same problem.
    My specs are:
USB Sb li've 24 bits external?
    Intel Celeron M530
    2ghz DDR2 Ram
    Intel 945 Chipset
    Windows Vista Basic 32 bits
    Latest Bios and Drivers installed
With the latest Creative vista driver (.0.0002) and the latest audio center (.0.2)?i can't activate mic/line in monitoring under "mixer section".
In the support page (download section),?if you go to the Audio?Center download details,?it says to check out the sbusb.sys driver version under device manager...well, there is none of that in windows/system32/drivers and if you extract the latest driver there isn't?a sbusb.sys file?in that pack either.
Also the latest creative smart recorder just records loud noise if you choose 24bits and wave file options (this happens with the latest vista driver).
    So i guess this is?an huge?driver bug.
I wrote to creative support a few days ago but no answer till now.
BTW, with the previous vista driver i had mic/line in levels to?control under Playback section (windows vista sound panel) so i could control the incoming signal. But that driver is buggy and it causes random playback and recording distortions.
    Hope someone can help us.

  • SB Live External Problems finding & using a good acoustic Piano soundf

I recently acquired a 24-bit SB Li've! external soundcard which I use with my laptop computer and midi keyboard for playing piano-type music. I'm a newbie, so bear with me here. I'm trying to find a decent, full, rich-sounding, sampled acoustic grand piano soundfont. The free one's I've downloaded from the Internet are apparently too big because I get error messages like "not enough memory" and something about "cache size." The electric piano soundfonts I purchased and used from Sonic Implants work very well. I really like them. So, here's the question: Where can I get a good, rich acoustic piano soundfont that will work with my SB Li've! external soundcard? What should I do? Thank you. --sixtoeightfeet

Can you/You can set the cache as "dynamic"? You get the settings panel opened by pressing the MIDI Devices -button.

  • SB Live External connected to my Xbox

Hey folks! My name is Marc-Andre. I just signed up on this forum because I thought it would be very informati've were I just purchased a SB Li've external for my laptop. I had to get this because the audigy PCI-CIA card does not fit in my new dell were it takes an express card ... The only two questions I have are:
    . With this SB Li've -External am I able to hook my xbox up to it so that way I can use my computer speakers for when I play my favorite game, Forza MotoSport for my xbox? And;
    2. If I can do this, what is it I will need to hook to my xbox and to the external sound card inorder to get it up and working?
    Any feedback would be great
Thanks for taking the time to read my concern.
    Marc-Andre

    FragK,
Audigy 2 ZS use a different dri've from the Li've! series sound card, so it's not compatible with the Audigy 2 ZS. You'd need to get a proper Audigy 2 ZS dri've if you want to use it.

  • New installation of a SB Live External on an HP DV6000 notebook with Vista H

Hey GuysJust loaded up my new HP with an external 24 bit SB li've and when I go to the mixer panel I was expecting to see (along with Master vol and CD Audio), gain controls for Line in and Micrphone. But there is no sliders for either. Has anybody ran across this problem yet?I really need to be able to control my microphone and a line in through the mixer for Muting and such. Kinda disappointing that it's not on the mixer when the inputs are on the device itself.

Hi Nishant... I have exactly the same problem... and I read what you wrote in Tom' hardware forum. For all that you wrote and all the tests that I have done I came to a conclusion, it is also a problem of compatibility between the BIOS and bigger capacity Disks... Many years ago when installing a bigger HDD in an older computer that I had, the computer would do the same, wouldn't start for the same reason. I found out that the BIOS didn't support higher HDD, however, partitioning the disk and formatting it with FAT 32 File System made the disk be recognizable by the BIOS. I did the same with my dv6000 (5th or 6th time it boots) I booted from a CD with the Acronis Software for disk installation and after installing the Disk with 1 single partition with FAT32 the problem was gone... My problem is that my recovery CD from HP partitions and format again with NTFS =((... so Im going for Ubuntus instead, now, when I plugged the battery (which hadn't been used in months and seem to having died) it started having problems again... that BIOS is just too very picky, these guys from Phoenix Technologies tried too hard to make it start super fast so that they sacrificed Quality in the BIOS setup.
I would suggest you try partitioning and formatting with FAT32 File System if it doesn't work the only way to make it work would be to find a good BIOS ( that HP hasn't provided) or else try to find an editor and play with your BIOS which is quite risky. I'll keep trying to make stable though I never give up! if you find anything I will appreciate any additional good results in your case -- erik_apl at yahoo dot com dot mx

  • Screeching sounds in games and other problems with Soundblaster live extern

Okay i have the USB external Creative soundblaster li've sound card. i have had a few problems. My first problem is When im in games such as Americas Army i get random Screeches like a tin can being scraped on concrete. My 2nd problem is Talking with my mic. For others to hear me MONITORING has to be enabled, there for i hear myself out of my own speakers as well. I have done everything to try and fix this, i've tried updating drivers, rolling back drivers, using windows automatic drivers. Is there an option i dont see that is causing my card to not sound good? I am using a 2.0 speaker configuration, and i only play the games with headphones on.
    please help.
thanks for your time.Message Edited by Zombeh on 0-6-2006 08:30 AM

You waited 24 hours and gave up? So I'll offer this for anybody else who reads the thread. I have a USB external SB card, but it's in a box somewhere. But IIRC, the Volume Controls work similar to other SB cards. In Volume Controls, Playback, mute the Microphone. In Volume Controls, Recording, select Microphone. This should let you "record" without hearing it on your speakers. Now if a game sets the mixer options for itself, that complicates things. If allowed, choose game audio options similar to these Volume Controls.

  • Help with optical out on soundblaster live external 24-

Currently trying to connect a soundblaster li've external 24 bit box to a harmon-kardon avr 0 amplifier. We can get sound via the analog jacks but can not get any sound from the optical port. Is there a setting on the computer or the amp that makes it so it works? also the hardware mute button mutes but does not unmute. the wheel also continuously scrolls without stopping.

Anyone with an insight with WHY it was made with USB .

Hello,?I purchased the SoundBlaster Li've External 24-Bit card so I could load?soundfonts?and play?midi files. I could find no instructions anywhere on to how to load soundfonts into the card. After struggling many?days looking thru the .exe files, I happened to stumble on the SFBM (Soundfont Bank Manager) Graphic?Equalizer and EAX modules which I was able thru trial and error to finally get?working.Did I miss something somewhere or why is there no mention in Help about these modules or anywhere else I looked? For a "newbie" like myself it would have been nice if there was a help topic?on "how to load soundfonts into your SoundBlaster". • Soundblaster 24Bit Live External - SPDIF issues on Vista 32B

Hey everyone!!As the title says i'm using the Soundblaster 24Bit Li've External connected through the optical?out to a external processor. I'm able to get sound from all the 6ch but there is something wrong. When i'm using WinDVD the SPDIF option is greyed out and i'm not getting true Dolby Digital sound. When I use windows XP i can select spdif as output and ''Dolby Digital'' appears on the external processor. On the sound properties i selected ''Digital Out Only'' and ''Let the software handle playback'' (or something like this) and it didn't solve the problem. Any help is appreciated. Thx in advance

  • Sound Blaster Live External 24bit vs. Compaq 6735b

    Hello guys,
I recently bought a new laptot Compaq 6735b with Vista installed on it. I dont like Vista so I installed my original XP home OS. When I connect my usb SB Li've external to it,? the sound crackles. I already tried updating all the drivers, but nothing heplped.
Do you have any idea that could help. I would be very grateful because I am going to DJ on my niece wedding and it has to be solved... Thank you in advance
    Pudi

    ?Hi Pudi,
MS USB audio class driver is the driver that gets loaded for any USB audio device by default if you did not install any drivers that is provided by the vendor (in this case, Creative). To try this, you can do a full uninstallation of creative software for the Sound Blaster Li've External 24bit, then connect the hardware to your laptop again after that. The driver that will be loaded at this time would be the MS USB audio class driver. If you know how to look at driver publisher in device manager for the Sound Blaster Li've External 24bit, then you can also check that the publisher of the driver is Microsoft and not Creative if everything goes well.
Once you managed to do this, if you still have the same problem, then I would think that it is a compatibility problem with your laptop. For such cases, you can try to use a self-power USB hub in between the sound card and your laptop. This might help.
