Scan problems with my HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m

Hello
I have been experiencing a problem when I attempt to scan a Document or Photo on my HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m  printer.  Specifically when I scan it now takes longer to do so and when finished I save it to my deskstop but the result after saving consists or either a totally black background with horizontal white lines or a greenish background.  I have tried resetting back to ‘default’ properties but nothing changes and the result is the same. I have shut down the printer, and unplugged it for several minutes and restarted it..but still no luck
Anyone out there with an answer on how I can fix this?
Thanks

Hello JWB46,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand when you scan a document, it takes longer and the background is black with horizontal white lines or a greenish background. I will do my best to assist you! First, I need to find out your operating system on your computer? Windows or Mac?
How is this printer connected? Wireless or USB?
Please make sure you have followed this entire HP document on Color or Brightness Level of Scanned Image is Not Correct. I would like to test out the hardware within your printer. Try copying a blank document on the scanner glass. Let me know if you have the same results. I will be looking forward to hearing from you. Have a great night!

  • HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m will not connect wirelessly to laptop

    Hi
I am having huge issues with my HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m. I have had it for just over a year, and have NEVER had any problems with it.
I am going to give as much information as I can.
    I have:
    HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m printer
     Samsung ML-2010 Series (Working wirelessly)
    Gateway (Acer) NV5915h laptop
    Windows 7 Home Premium
    64-bit Operating System
    Intel(R) Pentium (R)CPU  P6200 2.13GHz
    4.00GB Ram
    Norton 360 Premier Edition
    Wireless Logitech Mouse
    Wireless Microsoft keyboard
It started about 2 weeks ago
At first it would lose connection, and then I would have to reboot my laptop and the printer, and it would come back. Then I had to start removing the printer and then re-installing it. It worked for a bit, but now I am not sure what I am doing wrong.
I disabled my Norton while I did everything.
I tried adding the Photosmart through the install CD, Manually adding it, disabling the HP services, and I downloaded the setup from HP, in case there was something wrong with my CD. I have gone through the entire trouble-shooter.
I have run through the install CD over a dozen times, it finds the printer and goes all the way to the end, and it says “printer setup has failed to complete. Click retry to try installing again or click next to continue without connecting to the printer now, I will connect later."
    I also went to
Start typed in cmd Services.msc  located the HP Network Devices Support  right click Properties changed start up type to Disabled. Then re-installed the printer. It didn’t work!
I uninstalled all the HP software, and then installed it again.
I even tried typing the IP address in.
If I open a webpage and type in the IP, it brings up my printer; it shows everything with no problems.
When I added it manually I tried to set it as my default printer and I get error0X00000709. It won’t let me set it as the default, so I tried leaving my other one as the default, and then selecting the HP Photosmart from the dropdown list, then print. Same thing happens I get the error.
I also installed through a wired (USB) connection, so that I could get all the driver updates. It updated everything, and I was able to print to it, but then when I went to switch to wireless, it errors.
    I also installed it by:
Start Devices and printer  add printer add a network,  wireless or Bluetooth printer.
It searches for my printer, it finds it. The problem is it finds 3 of the HP Photosmart!!
    It shows them as follows:
    HP0AB1A0 (HP Photosmart premium c309g-m)               IP http:\\192.168.1.70:3910
HP Photosmart on OWNER-PC                                             IP: \\OWNER-PC\ HP Photosmart
Samsung on OWNER-PC                                                        IP \\OWNER-PC\Samsung) (working)
Photosmart Premium C309g-m (HP)                                   IP 192.168.1.70.
I have gone through and installed them one by one, and deleting it when it didn’t work.
I have gone through the entire fix it problems on the HP website.
I can print to both of my printers through our desktop computer. I can print to my Samsung wirelessly from my Laptop; it’s just the HP that won’t print.
This is so frustrating!  I used to work for HP, so I have gone through all the tricks I know.
Please help I really need to get this working. My email is [email protected], if you want to contact me directly. I might forget to come and check this.
Thank you in advance to anyone who has any ideas!

I am having the same problem with our hp 5514 printer.
    IT SHOULD JUST WORK!!!!!
Why will hp not answer anybody here?
We have even changed printer from 5510 to 5514 and it will not work.
Please answer as this is very frustrating.

  • Issues with McAfee IPS and HP PhotoSmart Premium C309g-m performing port scan

Trying to run a HP PhotoSmart Premium C309g-m printer wirelessly and connect to a laptop computer with Windows 7 32-bit operating system.  Printer is available for about 3 and a half minutes and then is blocked by McAfee because the printer is trying to perform a UDP port scan.  The IP address of the printer is blocked for 10 minutes and then becomes available again.  After about 3 and a half minutes, the printer IP address is again blocked by McAfee IPS for 10 minutes and the cycle repeats again.  Goes on all day.  Difficult to get any work done.  Anyone have a fix to stop the port scans?  Thanks

  • HP Photosmart Premium c309g wireless network printing problem with 64bit Windows 7

A problem exists where the c309g is installed on a wireless network where one of the PCs on the network is running 64bit Windows 7.  Amongst other things, the printer may print very slowly, appear disconnected or unavailable through the HP Solutions Centre and may not be pingable from any of the PCs on the network.  The problem will affect ALL the PCs on the network !
Network monitoring software will also show an enormous level of network traffic between the printer and the Windows 7 PC.  As soon as the Windows 7 PC is switched off, everything returns to normal.
    The problem is solved by disabling the HP Network Devices Support Service on the Windows 7 PC as follows;
Run services.msc from the Run command on the Windows 7 PC.  This will display the list of all the local services running on the PC together with Description, Status and Startup Type information for  each.
Scroll down the list until you see the HP Network Devices Support Service.
Right click on it and select Properties to bring up the Properties window.
Use the dropdown list to Change the Startup Type to Disabled.
Once disabled, the printer will start to work normally.  HP are aware of this problem which may be unique to the 64bit version of Windows 7.

Thanks but no luck... I tried it..... Got back from son's baseball game.. checked on printer - as in tried to have printer print something... nothing...   prior to going out I went ahead and deleted the 6  c309 print devices and reinstalled a new one and got the printer to work...  after the game it was back to ignoring print commands...  When I go to printers there again are 6 print devices for this printer - one titled HP Photsmart Premium C309 g-m... then 4 copies of that and then one version titled HP0AC58C (HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m).
As I just finished writting that... the printer came alive and started printing some previous jobs... so maybe it helped - not sure but what about the 6 versions of print devices?   I just checked the statuses of all the versions and the default is offline... the various copies have different amounts in que but have a pending status of pending deletion...  When I tried to make one of the other copies the default printer - it errors out with  0x00000709

  • Printing problem with HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m

I'm running windows XP sp3 on all of my  machines with this printer{HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m} wireless network.Recently everything starts  to print one inch lower on the paper and cuts off the bottom of each document I try to print.I print mostly from microsoft word 2007,and I have checked all the settings in word.It is almost like the printer skips an invisible header then starts to print the document.Any ideas would be appreciated.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the DSL modem HW.  There might be an issue with how print data is being routed though.
Please try the second experiment where you blank-out the default gateway and DNS entries from the printer's internal web configuration page.  Open the printer's internal web page by browsing to its IP address.  Select Networking and then Wireless (802.11).  Under the IPv4 Configuration tab, select Manual IP:
For Manual IP Address, use the existing printer IP address.
For Manual Subnet Mask, use 255.255.255.0
For Manual Default Gateway, leave blank.  This is important.
    Select Manual DNS Server:
Leave both the Manual Preferred DNS Server and Manual Alternate DNS Server fields empty.  This is important.
    Press Apply.
Turn off the DSL modem, the printer and all computers connected to your network.  Wait 60 seconds then turn on the DSL modem and then turn on the printer.  Then turn on the computers.  See if this corrects the printing speed.

  • HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m connection decay problem

    Hello,
I bought a HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m today and have it succesfuly connected to my wireless N network.  My problem is that everytime I reboot the printer it's connect lasts for about 30 seconds and then gets intermitent and then stops responding all together.  This is repeatable and happens every single time I reboot the printer.  All other nodes on my network continue to work just fine so I do not think it is my router that is at fault or any of my computers that I can reproduce this problem from.
As you can guess this is really frustrating to have a printer that works wirelessly for 30 seconds and then just stops.  The printer itself shows a very good wireless signal the whole time so I can't understand what the problem is.  Any help would be appreciated as I rather like this printer and would rather not have to shop for something else.

The Linksys WRT600N is a simultaneous dual-band 802.11n wireless-router.  There are a couple of things to try:
Please check that the channel width setting and for 2.4 GHz band is set for 20 MHz only (you can always use the 5 GHz band for 40 MHz clients).
Make sure that you're not running in 802.11n only mode (it's not well defined by the IEEE 802.11n standard).
If you still have trouble, open the printer's internal web page by browsing to its IP address.  Select Networking, then Wireless (802.11), then Advanced.  Scroll to the bottom of the page and check the setting for In an infrastructure network use 802.11b/g behavior.  Press Apply.
If the printer doesn't stay connected long enough to make this change, you may have to use a LAN cable to temporarily connect the C309g to the WRT600N.
BTW -- how is DD-WRT working for you?  We have a WRT600N in our test lab that I just decommissioned and I was considering reflashing it with one of the Open-WRT FW images.

  • Extremely slow wireless printing with HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m

I'm seeing extremely slow print speeds when printing wirelessly from a Mac or a Windows XP system to a new HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m printer. The printer begins printing immediately when I request a print, but it only prints one line. It will then take about 15 minutes to print the rest of the page, printing each line after a very long pause. Demo page printing doesn't exhibit this problem, only documents from programs like Word 2008, Safari and Firefox (tried firefox on PC and Mac) are affected.
If I connect to the printer through a USB connection it prints fine, so this problem appears to be with wireless printing only.
    Printer: HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m
Computer: Mac mini (Late 2009 model) (also tried a Windows XP laptop as a comparison, using latest drivers from HP's website)
OS: Mac OS X 10.6.2 with all available updates installed
Computer connection method: Wired Ethernet connection to wireless router
Printer drivers: version 2.2.1 (Apple supplied, HP drivers never installed as system shipped with 10.6)
Wireless router: Apple TimeCapsule (Early 2009) 1TB, running in a/n and b/g modes on 2.4 and 5GHz. TimeCapsule is in bridging mode as the DSL modem handles DHCP service
Encryption: WPA2 Personal, no MAC filtering or hiding of the SSID.
IP addressing scheme: All addresses are handed out by DHCP server with no reservations of any kind
The TimeCapsule is sitting three inches from the printer and the printer indicates full signal. Connection of the printer to the wireless network and setup of the printer on the Mac went without a hitch. Only when printing a test document did we discover the problem. The wireless network is behaving as expected when accessing the Internet from both Mac and Windows devices (tested with a Dell laptop running XP and a MacBook running OS X 10.6.2), so I don't see any overall problems with the wireless network.
    Attempted remedies:
    1. Rebooting and powering off, waiting, powering on computer
    2. Resetting the print subsystem, turning the printer off and on again and reinstalling the printer
    3. Unplugging power from the printer and letting it sit for several minutes before trying to print wirelessly.
    None of these worked.

  • Printing problem on HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m

    Hi all,
I am currently using HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m to print my documents and it runs on five different ink catridges. I usually print text documents using the black ink catridge. I realised that the moment the ink runs low(when they display the ! sign in the yellow triangle), the print out quality is significantly reduced in the sense that my text documents are printed with certain areas being missed out such as having half a line of text not being printed etc when my ink isn't even out or nearing to being completely out.
Does anybody else experience this problem? Is this problem exclusive to this model or just this particular printer I am using? Is there any way I can go about solving this problem because essentially this means that I have to replace the ink catridges once they go low because I can't print a complete document at all! Thanks!

    Print a Wireless Network Test.
I hope you are not using this for MAC filtering on your router.  It is pretty much a useless security method.

  • OCR scan using PhotoSmart Premium C309g and Mac OS X 10.8.5?

Greetings! I'm wondering if there's a way to scan text documents in an OCR format from my PhotoSmart Premium C309g to my Mac, which is running 10.8.5?
When I updated to 10.8, I downloaded the required driver from the Apple store. It works well for photos, but not so well for text files. The "text" option is grainy and not very readable. The black-and-white option works better, but the text is still dim, regardless of how I manipulate the manual settings.
I've seen responses that are three or four years old to a similar question relevant to earlier versions of Mac OS X, but I'm wondering if there's a work-around for 10.8?
If not, can you tell me if the driver for 10.9 includes an OCR option?
    Thanks much!

    Hi krisc,
Welcome to the HP Forums! I see that you are wondering how to scan text documents in an OCR format, using your HP Photosmart Premium c309g and Mac OS X 10.8.5. I am happy to help you with this issue!
At this time there is no OCR software for this printer for Mac OS X 10.8.5 or newer. I would however suggest looking for Third-Party software that could possibly work, with Mac OS X 10.8.5, and this particular printer.
Hope this answers your question, and have a great day!

  • HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m wireless problem?

HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m works great beside the problem wireless network keeps disconnecting.... It disconnects from my wireless network often, and to get it work i have to turn off my router and priter and then turn them back on... It's kinda  frustrating doing that every single day, and the one of the main reason i bought this  printer is wireless netwrking... I have THOMSON TG782 router and i'm on Windows7 system... Thanks in advance for any help...

Sometimes DSL providers have more control over the router than the printer likes.
    - Unplug the telephone line from the router
    - Turn the power off on the router, wait 30 seconds, then turn the power back on.
    - Go through the normal process of connecting the printer to the router.
    - Now find the IP address of the printer (it should be on the self-test printout), type it into a browser.
    - On that screen you will find a Networking Tab, then on the left Wireless, then the IPv4 Tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you know what that is, set an IP outside that range but no higher than 254 (the last number in the address). If you do not know, use the current IP address.
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Leave the gateway and DNS blank
    - Finally, plug in the phone line, reboot the router and test.

  • HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m on wireless for a wired PC

I have a Photosmart Premium C309g-m connected wirelessly to the LAN, as also are several other computers (both Windows and Mac). No problem here, all connect and print fine. I also have an older desktop (windows) connected to the access point wired. How do I get the desktop to print/scan on this device? It appears HP desktop software only gives me a option of having both the devices wired to the access point or both wireless. This is silly. This is a network printer and I should be able to simply connect to it at least with its IP.
    What am I missing?

What is the model of your router?  Some routers have settings that prevent communication between the wired and wireless devices.  The network diagnostics here may help.

  • HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m (Fails or SLOW to Print Wirelessly)

My printer has usually worked until recently (past couple months).  I have re-installed the driver several times, uninstalled the HP software, re-installed the driver only... and still the same symptoms occur.
    OS: Windows 7
    WiFi Router: Linksys E4200
    Printer: HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m
    STEPS TAKEN:
I begin a continuous "ping" of the printer from my PC and my ipad, to ensure I'm not losing network connectivity.
Pings are received on both pc and ipad without issue..
I print a "test page" from the printer properties screen.
Pings are dropped continuously...on both PC and ipad with one or two sporatic ones received with extremely high latency (29165 ms).
Printer sometimes fails to print the document or the document takes 3 or more minutes to print.
I believe it is an issue with the wireless network device on the printer.  I was hoping a firmware would fix it.  Can you advise me as to what the problem may be, where should I focus my troubleshooting?
I did run a HP Print/Scan Doctor tool, and it did say I had a "port mismatch" and that I needed to reboot my PC.  I rebooted my PC, re=ran, and still the same "Port Mismatch" error comes up.  So.. that leads me to believe it is an issue w/ my PC...but I can't find any thing that seems to be wrong w/ the port settings. Currently it is set on my printers hostname address, RAW, Port 9100.

Are you installing and reinstalling the printer from the CD? Just to establish a clean baseline lets try a full uninstallation/ reinstallation from the drivers available from the HP website.
First if you use a USB cord, make sure to remove it. Do not plug it back in until the software directs you to. Then go through the Devices and Printers, Programs and Features and Device Manager folders and insure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. Then as directed, restart the computer.
In the START menu type "%temp%" and press ENTER. Here I want you to press Ctrl+A and hit DELETE. Some of the files will not allow you to delete them, skip those files and delete the majority that allows it.
Then follow this link to download the full feature software and drivers for the printer (make sure to match your correct OS):
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=3793676&
Install that and let me know the result!
    Have a great day!

  • HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m slow previews

    Hello,
Yesterday I bought HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m printer and I really wonder on few things with it's speed. Whenever I try to use some advanced features when printing photos like: adding frames, cropping, rotate etc it is incredible slow! I firstly thought that it not works at all as when I used any of these functions then just a black space appeared there. But today I tried to wait about 2-3 minutes and then the image appeared, but it is still not usable.
Any ideas how to fix that? (maybe firmware update or so) The same applies when using the snapfish.com .
    Thank you so much!

I have the same problem when I want to crop a photo after it is scanned. I have to wait several seconds for the dotted lines to appear for cropping. And then when I grab them to move them, that takes up to 10 seconds also.  I agree, it is slower than I expected. I am working with a Macintosh G4 PowerPC , with Mac OS 10.5.8.
