SCC Box Molex Connector

I have purchased the SCC box with power option 001 (5VDC supplied by the DAQ board). I assume power will be supplied over the 68-pin cable from the DAQ board, but there is a molex connector on the back of the SCC box that has me concerned. What is the molex connector for?

This Knowledge Base explains what different power options are available for the SC-2345 carrier box.
With the power option you have you can use +5V from either your DAQ board or an external power supply. The external power supply connects at the molex connector and generally a DC apater.
As such, if you're specific application is running correctly using power from the DAQ board and you do not need extra current, you should be fine with the current setup.

Molex Connector FX5900SP VTD128

I dont know if it is a dumb question, but even dumber is to stay with doubts.
The molex connector that comes with this vid card has three ends, one goes to the board (the end on the long part) and the other two they are supposed to go to the PSU, but I can only connect one as there is only one male molex on the PSU, Is this necessary?

No it is not necessary. There is a male and female connector so that you are not deprived of a molex connector when you connect a fan. In reality what it does that it tapps the electricity from a molex connector.

I CANT FIND A 4-PIN MINI MOLEX CONNECTOR

I installed a USB 3 interface. It requires a 4-pin mini molex connector. I have an available connector but it isnt long enough so I need an extension. I did and exhaustive internet search. Cant find it anywhere.
I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

Look for a 4-pin molex to 4-pin mini molex converter. That should fix the length issue (assuming you have an unused molex connector) since I do not believe an extension even exists for these types of power connectors in the first place.

Hi, I've just started using multisim/ultiboard. I simulate my design with potentiometers, but instead of connecting the pots into the board I want to break out with a molex connector.
a) Is there a quick way of doing this without disconnecting the pots and replacing with a connector so I can go back to the multisim design and test it
b) is there a library for molex connectors? i can't find it....

Yes, when you select the potentiometer you can choose the "no footprint" option and the potentiometer will not be physically present in the layout.
When wiring the connector, place the connection in parallel with the potentiometer (since the connector does not have a model but the potentiometer/resistor does, this circuit configuration can be used for both interactive simulation and layout.   Here is a simple divider network to illustrate this (note the color coding of Multisim components to indicate model only (black), footprint only (green), or both (blue).   You can also click on the parts and see whether a model or footprint is included in the properties.

We do not have a specific Molex library.   There are many types of molex style connectors - is there a specific type (part number) or family you are looking for?   Perhaps another user has created a specific one that you can also use.   If not it is relatively easy to create a simplified land pattern and map it to one of the existing connector symbols. Also note in v12 we did add many new connector parts and we are interested in creating more connector style parts, please let us know of specific families that would be of interest and we'll research the direct creation/inclusion in Multisim/Ultiboard (more likely if it will benefit many users).
Note that if you want to create a 'placeholder' in your schematic, you can use one of the more generic "header" type connectors that match the pin count and later on when you do your layout, create the actual footprint shape and map it to the same symbol.   (Then to sync up the layout, you just do a replace in Multisim with the correct part and forward annotate the design into Ultiboard).

Does the NX7600GS-TD256 require a molex connector?

There is no reference in my documentation about needing to connect a separate power connector to my newly acquired NX7600GS-TD256, though the card does appear to have a power connector there. Looking around the net I'm finding conflicting reports... some sites say it needs a molex, others don't mention it.
The card appears to run perfectly without it mind you, but I'm curious if I'm supposed to be plugging something in there.

yes plug it mate. its strongly recommended, to ensure VGA stability and property working.

well under heavy VGA load (hard 3d gaming) artifacts may comes, reboots, BSOD may comes also when VGA is starting to drain power and don't have it enough. also there is a possibility mobo to take damage when starting to drain too much power via AGP slot instead from alternative.(VGA power connector).
find a free power connector from to PSU and connect it to the VGA directly.

Apricorn Drivewire HDD Adapter: Old Version Mac Usable?; Molex Connector?

If you check the specs for this device it does not say anything about Macs. If you check their site their new version includes Mac specs; however, it appears the device is the same and the Mac specs only refer to the fact that the new version now includes free Mac software for hardware cloning and such. Anybody use this "older version: for a Mac?

Can anyone confirm from the pic link below that the power connector for this is a standard 4 pin molex. I was looking to use the ac power adapter from this UL listed unit with a molex Y splitter to power some external devices as opposed to tapping into a computer. Company site says nothing about if its a 4 pin molex or not.

Even though one photograph shows (3) HDDs simultaneously connected to the adapter, I think that's for illustrative purposes as to the interface options. In real usage, the power supply would likely not have the output to run three HDDS simultaneously. The determining factor as to how many and what type of devices can be connected to the power supply via a Y-splitter is the DC output for 5 and 12 volts. My $15 (Micro Center) IDE/SATA-to-USB adapter's power supply provides 2,000 mA for both the 5 and 12 volt leads. Unless you can verify that this power supply provides more current than that, I think you can spend less than $35 for an equivalent device.

PCIe to Molex Connector

I am sure this has been asked before i have searched but not really found an answer. I have a new fan on my graphics card which has a molex male connector my mac does seem to have a connector for these,
Is there a way to use the 2nd PCIe 6 pin PSU on the board to feed power to the fan ( i am aware its 12V only)
Or is it best to split the ones on the CD-Drives and trail to cable down?

Best guide I can think of. Routing power from lower optical bay is possible going behind, but I haven't gone that route. As for ability and safety of using a PCIe solution...?

Canopus capture card with Molex connector

Trying to add this capture card, which has a male Molex power requirement.
I've searched the universe and the only luck I've had is a female Molex to 6-pin PCI Express power (female). Now, how do I get from there to the mini-6-pin male, which plugs into the MPro Main Board?
I will owe you a beer or sumptin.

Great news! I telephoned AppleCare, and spoke to Jim. I was able to point him to page 4 of the DIY Graphics card manual (www.apple.com/support/manuals/macpro_diy/) and he looked up the part. It was FREE! FREE!! FREE!!!

If you are the client then you need to ask your Cisco Partner to assist you with this (Be mindful that many don't like doing it as there is no coin in it for them )
Or if you are the partner, then speak with your Cisco Account Manager who will then get Authorization for you to get it at NFR pricing from the Distributor.

P965 Platinum JPWR3 4 Pin Molex Connector

The manual states that this connector is required for stable operation of PCI express graphics card. I have a radeon x1950 pro 256 based card connected, it's the only card and I have a 6 pin pci express power connector connected to it. I have been running without plugging into the JPWR3 connector in games. So why would I need to plug into it? And what am I risking by not plugging into it? What does the power provided by that connector do?

You can use it even though your graphics card does have its own 6-pin connector. That way you have more "backup" for you graphic adapter. It doesn't hurt at all to use it.
I am also having the 1950 pro and I use both connectors without any problems. My board is a different one, but the function of the 4-pin connector is the same.

Connecting 6800Ultra VGA (2xMolex) to PSU that has PCI-Express connector

I have a PSU that has 2 PCI-express power connectors (ThermalTake 680W). However I'm still using an AGP video card (6800 Ultra) with 2 Molex connectors.
I would like to try and connect 1 of the PCI-express connectors from the PSU to the 2 molex connectors on the video card (which technically should be fine since the PCI-express connection from the PSU should have enough power for the 2x molex connectors on the 6800 Ultra).
However, I can't seem to find the cable that I need to convert from the single 6-pin PCI-express connector to the 2 4-pin molex connectors. In my case I need the exact opposite from the adapter that is readily available to hook up an old PSU (only molex) to a new PCI-express video card.
Can anyone help me locate the cable I need?

You may need a Gefen DVI to Mini DP Converter. Although my G5 (In my opinion) is relatively new, it needed this adapter.
When I first tried to hook it up, I very carefully followed the instructions that come with the adaptor. That did not work as the screen picture was broken and continuously scrolled. I took it in to my local Genius who determined that the adapter is made for single processors, and the G5 is a dual processor. According to the genius, if you turn the monitor on before you power on the G5; the G5 will search for its old processor and will not properly recognize the new one. If you power the computer first and then the monitor, the G5 will recognize it as a new model and all will be fine.
I'n not sure I have the explanation correct, but I do have to power the computer first before the monitor.
Hope this helps solve your problem, even if it costs $90+.

Internal power - what kind of molex plug do I have/need?

Hi all!
A quick question that I haven't been able to find the answer to:
Like so many others, I recently lost the 1900XT graphics card in my 1st gen Mac Pro (it's toast).
I replaced it with a flashed PC card - the 4870 (1 Gig).
Since I have a flashed PC card, I guess I'm not totally confident that it will control it's own fan speed accurately, since it's not meant to run on a Mac, and I don't want to lose another card to excess heat (the card seems to get REALLY hot really quick, but I never paid much attention to how the air was coming from the 1900XT, so I don't have a good basis for comparison)
So my question is two-fold:
1. Do I have any reason for concern, or is a flashed card going to monitor it's own temperature fine, and adjust the fan accordingly?
2. Is the extra PCI-slot fan I bought at a local PC shop necessary, or even compatible with my Mac Pro? It seems to have a huge molex connector (around 1 inch - the "old" kind apparently) while my Mac Pro seems to only have smaller molex... Do I need an adapter to put this thing in?
Can you tell I'm paranoid to lose another video card to heat? I don't have the $$ to do this again...

And have you installed the Intel graphics? If your machine has Nvidia Optimus you also need to install Nvidia driver.

AD 11g Connector Server issue

Experts,
We are trying to install the .net connector server for AD 11.1.1.5.0 connector server using 32 bit Windows 2003 server.
But after this step:
From the installation media, copy and extract contents of the
bundle/ActiveDirectory.Connector-1.1.0.6380.zip file to the
CONNECTOR_SERVER_HOME directory.
when I try to start connector server, it does not get started.
I was able to configure same steps when I used 64 bit Windows 2008 Server for Connector server.
Is there any constraint to use 64 bit Windows box for Connector Server to be used for AD 11.1.1.5.0 connector?

CPU 120 mm fan and interchange connectors

my akasa heat sink fan has a three pin fan but my motherboard has four pin does any one know where i can get four pin female to three pin male molex connectors.i have tried ebay but no luck at all many thanks

jack and jason thanks a million for both suggestion but listen to this by accident i connected a 120 system fan to one of the system fan connectors and noticed that it is much quieter than cpu fan so i removed the 120 mm cpu fan and replaced it with 120 system fan . it does about 1200 rpm i can not adjust the speed but it is much quieter than the cpu fan which easily does 2200. this is not perfect but it does the job for the time being (system fan have much large internal resistors and that is why they are slower than cpu). my akasa heat sink fan is great but currently i have not seen four pin 120 cpu fan??? many thanks for your great help

GBIC/SFP w/ MTRJ Connector for 3560G Switch?

I have a WS-C3560G-24PS switch with four SFP ports and I want to use the SFP ports to connect it to our backbone. Our fiber distribution boxes use ST connections. I have several ST to MTRJ 62.5/125 multimode patch cables, but I cannot find a SFP GBIC that uses a MTRJ connector. Is this possible and/or supported or do I have to get new cables & GBIC's?

I am unaware of any SFP transceiver modules that use MT-RJ connectors. They all use LC style.
To interface your SFP's LC connectors to the distribution boxes ST connectors, you can purchase fiber jumper cables with ST on one end and LC on the other.
