Screen Frozen on Emoji Keyboard

I have an iphone 3gs, and the screen froze on the emoji keyboard. I tried turning my screen sideways to see if I was just hitting an insensitive spot trying to change from emoji to alphabet, but it will not change the keyboard either way. I can do everything on my phone but type messages other than emojis, and as I recently discovered, delete my running apps. Although holding the running apps down will cause them to wiggle, which would normally allow me to delete them, my phone will not let me actually delete them. Ive tried syncing my phone to my computer, resetting it multiple times, and left it turned off overnight, hoping it would somehow help. I've even tried turning off the emoji keyboard - which it will also not allow me to do. I updated my phone a week ago now, and havent had any problems until now. I am trying to avoid restoring my phone if at all possible. Has anyone had this problem, or have any suggestions as to go bout fixing it? Thank you!

After update to iOS 8.3 I do not have emoji keyboard.

Prior to the update I had Emoji++ keyboard installed; which worked fine. After the upgrade, the Emojii++ keyboard crashes occasionally (it never did before).
I was hoping I would get the new Apple emoji keyboard after the upgrade but it isn't there. I uninstalled the Emoji++ keyboard then deleted it from my iPad Air, but the Apple Emoji keyboard is still not there, just the speaker button.
I backed up before upgrading, so I tried doing a restore with the thought of removing Emojii++ before the 8.3 upgrade. I've never restored before.
When it was finished restoring I was presented with a plain screen with the following text "swipe here to upgrade". I assumed that this was "upgrading" me to 8.2 because there didn't appear to be any other option. Unfortunately, this put me back to 8.3 and my current issue. What else could I have done besides "swipe here to upgrade"?
I Really want the Apple emoji keyboard, so any assistance would be appreciated.

Can't "unselect" Emoji keyboard

My IPhone 3 is having a problem with the Emoji keyboard in that I can't select normal text when typing a message, either in Messages or Whats Ap. When I try to unselect it under Edit>Keyboards it won't play nice. I downloaded the latest ios this morning which reset my phone and still have the problem. Help please 'cause I can no longer send texts and I can't afford a new phone.

My bluetooth keyboard rarely syncs with my G5 on startup or after sleep but I put this down to using a belkin unsupported usb chip (i'm assured they link properly with an internal apple certified bluetooth chip). I've found the best way to sync is to turn off the keyboard (switch on back) and turn it back on. Then type on the keyboard - i know, sounds mad, but if you just type away it's sending signals out all the time and eventually it just syncs and starts typing on screen. I've found key combinations are best, for example, shift-a letter or control and spacebar... just anything... just type away until it connects!

Make sure you first add the Emoji keyboard:
Settings/General/Keyboards/Add New Keyboard, then select the Emoji keyboard.
To use the Emoji keyboard, you access it anytime the on-screen keyboard pops up for use by tapping the smiley-face icon on the keyboard's bottom row, left-hand side. I believe iOS 7 & ealier don't use the smiley-face icon but an icon that looks like a globe.
To return to the normal keyboard after using the Emoji keyboard, tap on the globe icon on the bottom row, left-hand side.

Iphone stuck in Emoji keyboard

I have an Iphone 3G with IOS version 5.0.1 and all of a sudden any app that uses the keyboard will only bring up Emoji. I am unable to delete the Emoji keyboard. For example, if I want to search the iPhone, no keyboard comes up, I just get the Emoji keyboard option and clicking on the globe to the left does nothing.

Thanks modular747. I reset all settings and this removed the Emoji keyboard, leaving me with just US Qwerty and that definitely helped me. I was then able to confirm I have a hardware problem. Basically the characters on the left most part of the screen are not touch active anymore, so when I was in Emoji, that cut out the globe which is the only way to switch out to another keyboard. Now I am having trouble with passwords that use A or 1 etc. Time for a new screen or a new phone. BTW, I guess the phone is a 3Gs.

The Emoji Keyboard is enabled. (Not an app. The default Emoji Keyboard that comes with iPad)
I can touch the smiley face between the 123 & mic symbol. Usually this works fine, but sometimes I just get a gray box, no emojis display. I cycle through all the groupings on the bottom, all show a blank gray box, no emojis. If I double tap the Recently Used, they often come back, but not the others. Maybe recently used are stored locally, not loaded from a server? This problem usually persists for hours or a day, then resolves on its own. I don't know why this happens, or how it fixes itself. Exiting iMessage and reopening has no effect. Deleting conversations has no effect. This has happened ever since I first got this iPad Mini. There has already been 2 iOS updates since purchase, problem still happens. It happened last night and continued until a few minutes ago. Now it's normal again. No idea why.
Now for the really weird part: Sometimes even when I can't see any emojis on the keyboard, if I touch the screen randomly, an emoji will appear in my text message. As if the emojis are there, functioning, but they are not displayed on the keyboard, so I have no idea what I'm touching. ???
Has anyone else experienced this? Anyone know how to fix this permanently?

Have your tried a reset of your iPad to see if that corrects the problem? Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.

Once the keyboard is connected, it should work with any app that uses the standard keyboard interface, so it will work with iWork.

I think you are missing the point here. There is no known problem with the keyboard and it's functionality on the iPhone. You do not need to remove the keyboard to fix it. I have it installed and use it, it does not make symols appear when using other English keyboards. If you are seeing symbols entered unintentionally there is a problem with your iPhone's software. To see symbols you must add the Emoji keyboard to the keyboard list. Even then you must select this keyboard when typing a message and physically select the icon you want. It may be possible if you have a different keyboard selected, other than US English, that has some built in short cuts for symbol. The US English keyboard does not.
If you jailbroke and modified the iPhone's software in any way it may have messed up the keyboards functionality. I suppose any app you installed to enhance keyboard function may have effect it, but I don't believe Apple would allow it intentionally. Any chat app you use may come with it's own keyboard, changing the system keyboards will probably not fix them. Restore will fix any software issues the iPhone may have although if caused by an app it may come back when it is installed. Restore will erase media files which are not included in the iPhone backup files.
Discussing jailbreak procedures of iPhones here is prohibited and I do not recommend it to fix any issue. I only mention it since some people have problems with iPod/iPhones after they have jailbroke them but fail to mention it in their initial post. It gets futile trying to help someone with a very rare issue such as this and after many attempts to fix it you are told the iPhone is jailbroke which caused the problem.
Again the best fix here is to Restore it back to a clean iOS install using a back up. If it still does it Restore it as new and add apps till you see the problem appear.

Emoji keyboard shortcut not working on Yosemite

On my iMac running OS X 10.10.2 I'm trying to use the keyboard shortcut ⌃⌘Space to get the emoji keyboard shortcut menu.
Example:
Problem is I cannot get this to pop up on my iMac. I only get the full special character menu and the option to copy and paste the emoji then I have to erase all the code of the emoji which is a real hassle. Example of what it looks like when I ^⌘Space below:
Update: I tested this out on my friends Macbook Air and the shortcut works fine. The Macbook Air has the same OS 10.10.2 as my iMac. There are no settings that are different on these computers from what I can see. Only thing I know is it works on this computer and not mine. Can someone please help me with this issue?

Normally you should be able to double click or drag drop to input emoji from either version of the Character Viewer.
To get to the smaller one, just click on the little icon at very top right of the bigger one, next to the Search field.

Yes. you should keep your media in iTunes, and indeed you should also keep a backup of your library as well. if you have the device set up for manual management then the content would remain on it when deleted from the library, but you would have no way to restore the device if there was a problem.
