Screen light¨, screen light

There is no light on my iPad. I try to adjust the brightness, but it doesn´t work. If I go close to a light I can see what´s on the screen. In normal light the screen seems to be black.

Hi
I think I know what could be wrong with your internal display.
The issues description sounds like FL inverter would be faulty.
The FL inverter is a tiny part hidden in the display frame.
The technician should be able to replace it.
Therefore contact the ASP in your country and ask for the further handling.
By the way; What notebook series do you have?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Two problems with my iPhone: screen doesn't light up at notifications & iPhone says updated apps still need to be updated

Alright, I'm having two annoying problems with my iPhone. It's an iPhone 4.
    I'm using the latest iOS.
The first problem is that when I get a notification (a mail, text message, whatever), I hear the sound that it makes, but the screen doesn't light up. Then, when I click the home or the turn-on / off button (basically when I'm in the lock menu), it doesn't show the notification either. Yet, in the notification settings, I've set up to show them. For example mails. I just received a few mails. For mail, I've selected the banner in the notification center. But I see no banner. I see nothing in fact. I can unlock my phone and go in mail, and see the mail there.
What could be the reason for this? I've recently done some changes on it, I mean, not exactly on the iPhone, but in iTunes. I removed all photos from my iPhone (over 3000) and all songs that were on it. I decided to sync only the latest 3 months of photos and 3 months of music. I don't think it's related but it's the last thing I've done with it, and since then this has been happening, so I thought I'd mention it.
My second problem is that, while I was updating my music and photo library on my iPhone, I also synced all app updates. I have around 6 or 7 of them, lurking there for a while, and I never got the time to download them in iTunes and sync them with my iPhone. So that's what I did as well. Strangely enough, when I visit the App Store app, under Updates, it still tells me I have 5 apps to update. I remember one I updated on the iPhone itself.
They're all listed there with the little bar that shows up when it's loading, except it isn't loading. It's just stuck there, at the very beginning. No, not even at the beginning, because the blue little bar that moves forward isn't even present. The also show up this way on my iPhone "desktop" (Home), and it says "Waiting..." below them.
I've tried syncing again, and also restarting the iPhone, but it didn't help. Anyone know what's wrong here?
I appreciate all help. Cheers guys

Nobody? The second problem is solved! But my phone still doesn't light up or shows a banner or anything when for example a mail arrives?

  • My screen is not lighting up, Can anyone help?

    Hi
I put my phone on charge yesturday, and when i checked to see if it was charged my screen wuld not light up. I havnt dropped my phone or anything. Just wondered if anyone has come accross this problem before is so how did they fix it?
    Thanks

It may be related.  Here are the troubleshooting articles depending on which type of computer you have:

Wow- thanks Jim! I removed the case and voila... it worked. Knock on wood that you solved my problem with such an incredibly simple solution. I'll find out where this proximity sensor is and make sure my case does not interfere with it.

  • Does some of you see little squares on his ipad3 screen, when bright light shines directly on the display?! Is this normal?

    Hey folks,
I just got my iPad 3, and when the display is almost white like on the google homepage i noticed there were small squares or a grid visible all over the screen (when a light is shinning directly on the screen). I just want to know if it is just on my device or some of you also have experienced the same. If you cannot see the grid just tilt the ipad a bit when you are on a white background (as it is most visible on a white background). In addition I recognized that my ipad has a much "warmer" colour setting than my colleague's one. His one is "whiter" or "colder".
For any ideas, experiences, suggestion: thanks in advances!

Look like the plastic molding process is not perfect in your top shell surface, or some component might attach to that area that make the layer that block the light from lcd is not covering those area.
I don't have my MacBook with me so I cannot give you any idea or comparison, hope somebody will post either they have same issue or they inform you that they dont have any of that.
Just discuss this with you apple store or apple dealer if you feel this is annoyed, bring your picture along with your MacBook and even better print this thread so they now you are serious and not faking it.
Actually it is kinda cool when you drew up small layout of the spot, it makes your MacBook one of a kind. If you post this thread on 6/6/06, it might give me goose bump, just kidding.

  • Macbook pro screen and keyboard light turns off

    Hello everyone,
I have an issue with my macbook pro, if im sitting at a table and i glide my laptop slightly my screen and keyboard light goes off and i cant see anything.
I have to turn it left or right to try and get it back on.....same thing if i close my computer and reopen it again it wont wake up from sleep mode.
anyone else having a similer issue? is this software related?

That seems like a loose or failing cable.
You could try a SMC reset:  http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964  to elimate the controller.

You could try running the Apple HArdware Test, not always definitive however.  If it shows an error code report back.

  • MacBook Pro will not start up, get start up chime but screen does not light up.  Any help?

Upon start up I hear optical drive checked, then get a start up chime but the screen does not light up.  I have shut down by holding down power butto for 10 seconds also pulled battery and A/C power.

I had this same issue but after a new hard drive/ram install.
What solved the issue - and I hope this helps someone else who has the same problem:
1).  Install new hard drive (with or without osx pre installed) or leave old one in in your case.
    2).  Remove all ram
3).  Power on and wait 1 minute
4).  Hold power button until it turns off
    5).  Install ram
    6).  Power back on
    7).  BOOM! It works again.

    Reinstall OS X:
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
    Do the following:
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install the Combo Updater for the version you prefer from support.apple.com/downloads/.
Reinstalling Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.

  • My iPod's screen will not light up anymore and i don't know how to fix it?

See I droped my ipod once and the screen craked and then the next day the screen did not light up. One of my friends said that i shoundn't get a ipod from gamestop.

You can try the following but I think the cracked progressed and your iPod needs to be replaced or repaired.:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
