Screen not going to sleep or dimming BBM Classic

Dear Team,
My BBM Classic does not put the screen to sleep during  a call or when placed in holster.(does dim the screen a bit)
Does the BBM Classic have a setting (to turn on or turn off) for dimming or putting the screen to sleep during call or when placed in holster.
Await reply .

So that mean the screen does swithch on and off when placed in the right type of holster and this works due to magnatic and not photosensor.
Is there application available to enable the photosensor to turn on and off the screen since i had bought & using side flap case and not holster.
Await reply on the above,
Thanking you in advance.

  • IPad screen not going to sleep

I have the iPad 4th gen iOS 8.0.2 (not enough space to update). Recently, sometimes when it shows a notification, and the screen turns on, it never really goes back off. It basically freezes at that current time, dims the screen, and stays like that until I put it on sleep myself. It also messes up the battery, because when it' sin that frozen semi-on state, it thinks it's on sleep or off, so after being unplugged for the whole day it still shows 100%. I'm not sure what other info to give right now, but I'll try to give as much as I can. I'm trying to get a picture, so I'll try adding that later. When I press the home button or power button when it's in this frozen state, it resumes back to full brightness, as though it was on sleep. I then have to press the power button again to put it to sleep. I've had my ipad for 2 years and this never happened before. Any help would be nice, and if you need any more info I'll get it as soon as I can, plus a picture.

  • Screen not going to sleep

My iMac (21.5" 2.7 Ghz intel Core i5 mid 2011") screen won't go to sleep by itself. I have the energy saver set to one minute but I have left it for more than an hour and it still hasn't turned off.
    Please help

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    pmset -g assertions | open -f -a TextEdit
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V).
A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. If the command produced no output, the window will be empty. Post the contents of the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window), if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that.

  • IPod not going to sleep correctly

    Hi there,
I am having an issue with my iPod 5G not going to sleep correctly. When I select the "Sleep" function on the menu screen the iPod with stop responding to the wheel, as per normal, BUT the screen only fades and does not blank itself completely. I can still see the menu items.
Is this right? I though the screen blanks completely, to save on battery power.
    Advice and thoughts needed...cheers

Hi, I have managed to change the battery of my Ipod
mini, but still after the Ipod is fully charged the
battery life still lasts only a few hours....
My assumption after reading all the technical
documents, is that even though the Ipod mini appears
to go to sleep (either by itself or after the play /
pause) button is pressed for a few seconds, that in
fact the Ipod isn't a sleep and the battery runs
    down....
I have updated to the latest 1.4.1. software... only
recently happened, and replaced the battery (but
    perhaps it didn't need it).
And it's 14 months old so out of warranty...
Does anyone know of issues with sleep mode not
working correctly? Is there a software fix for
    this????
    Cheers
I think I'm having the same problem - let me know if you find an answer and likewise I'll do the same. Is going to sleep the same as turning off? Mine doesn't even turn off when I press down the play/pause button!

  • Computer hanging on closing lid and not going to sleep, indicator does not blink

    i have a 1 month old Macbook Pro 13" i5 with 4Gb memory.
when i am closing the lid the computer is not going to sleep, hard drive continues to spin and power indicator does not blink and it remains solid.
on opening the lid again screen keep blank and does not show anything while i can hear spinning of hard drive. than i have to forcefully shut off the computer by pressing power key and than computer starts after that.
Apple support told me to press shift+control+option+power and than start computer, it fixed the problem only once and they told me to do it again when it comes again. but write now i am getting it everytime.

    Hi guys -
First off make sure you don't have 'Wake for ethernet access...' enabled in System Preferences/Energy Saver/Options - I'd also run Disc Utility and repair your permissions as well. OS X requires 'maintenance routines' to be performed on a certain basis and you can use this free application to help you with that...Onyx.
Check the obvious as well - that you don't have any applications that might keep your Macbook awake ...some printer utilities do this for example.
After all this shut down and restart and hopefully things will be better - if not, there may be a chance that the mechanical parts that put your computer to sleep may be at fault ...and you'll need to visit an Apple dealer to verify this.
    Hope some of this helps.

I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion 15 Notebook and issues with sleep or shut down after upgrade to Windows 10. Try using the Windows Update Troubleshooting tool to fix the problem. Here is a document that shows how to update drivers that are not working correctly with Windows 10. HP has been working closely with Microsoft on the development of Windows 10. I hope this helps. Thanks.

  • Computer not going to sleep when lid closed

My wife's new MacBook Air has a couple of problems we can't figure out.  First sometimes the computer is not going to sleep when lid is closed and when we lift the lid everything is frozen.
Second, the user Library folder is not seeable in her user account.  I know it's there because on the side bar there's a short cut to Preferences folder which we can open.
    Strange behavior.
    Thanks,
    Ron

    Ron,
The user library folder (~/Library/) is hidden by default in Lion. I assume Apple doesn't want people mucking around with the sensitive files in there. So this is normal behavior.
As for the freezing issue, I would suggest you reset your power management and perform a safe boot to clear out caches. You should also see if the issue persists after disconnecting USB perhipherals.
    Here's how:
    Power Management:
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.
    Safe Boot:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).

  • MBP not going to sleep

I have had my MacBook Pro for a little over a week now and i am noticing that it is not going to sleep according to my energy saver preferences, or at all for that matter. Any ideas?

Something must be preventing it going into the appropriate sleep mode; either some software running or a lack of space for the sleepimage file (most unlikely at this point). Run /Utilities/Console, click 'All Messages' top left and then select Sleep from the Apple menu top left - there should be some lines in the Console Log that will give a clue about what's going on (post them here if you like).

  • MacBook not going to sleep when connected to WiFi

    Hi there,
my MacBook 3,1 is not going to sleep as long as it is connected to WiFi.
It starts the process of going to sleep as my VNC connection gets dropped but it stays awake. I can easily reconnect.
Everthing else is working fine. Any suggestions?

    Hello everyone,
I'm facing the same syptom. I tried many things and now havw to live with putting the MacBook to slee by hand. I had some other issues just before that:
1: The MB returned randomly from sleep while being closed. That was annoying. I think it was fixed after installing smart sleep and doing some cleanup in the preference files.
2: Then I was put "randomly" to sleep. I figured that came from overheating the processor (thus I'm gld it went to sleep). The fan speed control was set to constantly 2000 rpm. Installing fanControl helped.
3: Lid closing did not init the sleep mode and the backlight is not turning off. Niether does it wake up on opening when I put it io sleep manually (I have to press a key).
The sensor for closing the lid seems to work, if it is the same which controls the maximum brightnes of the sleep indicator light (pulsing). It is darker when the lid is closed.
I wonder if there is some settings tool.
Besides I think the issues started after the Software updates around 12th of dec. 2008, with MacOS10.5.6 and the EFI & SMC firmware updates.
    I'm eager to get answers.
    Kid regards, Ralf.

  • External hard drives not going to sleep

External HDs (I have two) connected to my 2.26 unibody macbook are not going to sleep even though I have the appropriate check box selected in System Prefs. Running 10.6.8. Connected through the USB ports in my 23" cinema display. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Lion may not be able to put them to sleep (as it can internal drives). The drives often come with drive management software to do that (check that it is Mac OS compatible). I have two Segate drives that backup my server and then sleep, but that is managed by the managment software.

  • Just Updated to 10.5.2 on Feb 10, 2008, Display not going to sleep anymore

    Greetings:
I am running on a Macintosh G4 Graphite (which has been heavily upgraded to a G4 1.8 Ghz processor (Sonnet Tech Encore) and it has 1 GB RAM and an upgraded ATI Radeon 9200 Mac Edition video card). Under 10.4 -10.5.1 everything worked fine.
I have my Power management settings set to put the display to sleep every 30 mintues and changed to 3 mins to check if something else was up.. but the display is definitely NOT going to sleep any more.
Any thoughts and is anyone else having this issue?
I have not yet trashed the preferences file, mainly because I am not sure where it lives.
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hello All Again:
Just wanted to update you on how I fixed the problem. Not sure what specifically in the combination fixed it, but it does now work
First I opened System Prefs > Energy Saver and hit the set to defaults button. I then exited System Prefs.
I then went into Terminal and ran pmset displaysleep 30 and exited terminal.
Lastly, I went into System Prefs > Energy Saver and selected 3 minutes. Exited System Prefs and waited and lo and behold it worked. So I rebooted my system and then set the timer back to 30 mins and it has been working again so far.
I suspect that the pmset from terminal may have refreshed something in the prefs file someplace, but again it was just something in that string of things I did that worked.

My MacBook wouldn't go to sleep, it keeps loading, so I have to turn it off. When I turn it on a blank screen comes on, I shut the lid and open it and the main menu screen comes up but the cursor won't work for awhile. Then, eventually, the cursor will work and everything is fine. Hmmm?

  • Monitor Not Going To Sleep on Mac Mini Server With Lion

Summary: I am attempting to configure a Mac Mini Server that runs OS X Lion. This machine was originally shipped with OS X Lion; it is not an upgrade. My current specific problem is that my Viewsonic VX2835wm monitor will not go to sleep when the minutes setting on the Display Sleep setting for Energy Saver has been reached. Instead, the screen goes blank for a couple of seconds and is replaced with a blank blue backlit monitor. (Ironcially, the display sleep menu cautions: "Never letting your display go to sleep may shorten its life".) I very much want and need the ability to have my monitor go to sleep so as to save energy and to extend the monitor's life for as long as possible.
Additional Background: I have had a couple of calls with Mac support and they have been unable to tell me whether this is a "design feature" or a flaw in the Lion OS because they have had no similar reports and they do not have the latest hardare available running Lion Server to test to see if this happens with other monitors. (They also, of course, don't have the VX2835wm monitor.)
I do, however, know the following:
    (1) My HDMI monitor is connected to my Mac mini via a DVI KWM switch (ATEN CS1784) such that the HDMI output from my Mac is converted to DVI (using the DVI to HDMI converter that came with my Mac Mini) and is then run through the KVM and then converted back to HDMI (using a full pin DVI to HDMI cable). However, I have tested the monitor with a straight HDMI to HDMI cable running directly from the Mac Mini to the monitor and it has not changed anything.
    (2) The Lion operating system correctly recognizes (in Hardware / Displays) the model of my ViewSonic monitor.
    (3) I have a MacBook Pro running Leopard (OS X 10.5.8) that is connected to the same monitor through the same KVM switch (by way of a BookEndz docking station) which properly shuts down the monitor when there has been no activity for however many minutes are set in the Display Sleep setting under Energy Saver. (Indeed, all I want is the same functionality on my Mac Mini that I have enjoyed for the last two years with this MacBook Pro.)
    (4) When fully connected to the KVM, if I switch from my Mac Mini to my MacBook Pro and my Mac Mini display goes to sleep while I am working on my MacBook Pro, when I switch back to the Mac Mini, my monitor backlight will be off (and the power light will be standby yellow rather than the blue on) until I wake my computer up by touching the mouse of keyboard. I wonder if this may mean that the Mac Mini's signalling of the change in status from on to standby is somehow dysfunctional.
    (5) Shutting down the server functions (and other open applications) has no effect.
I would greatly appreciate feedback from anyone out there running a Mac Mini with Lion regarding whether or not their monitors go into standby mode when the Display Sleep time is reached (please note whether or not you are running the Server or Client version, whether or not it is a new install or upgrade, and what monitor you are using).
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

No, I didn't solve the problem. The monitor still goes to sleep with WIndows but not with my Mac Mini. About 8 months ago I basically wore out the power switch on my monitor so I bought a wireless power switch to shut it off at the outlet. The VX2835wm monitor itself is now starting to fail as well-- a couple of times it's gone through a weird sequence of flashing screen colors on power up and ended up in an overscan mode (that took me for ever to figure out how to fix). I have decided to replace my VX2835wm with a Dell u2412m once it fails for good partly because I really want to keep the 16:10 resolution (very hard to find these days) and partly because I want to see if a different make of monitor will go to sleep properly based upon my Mac Mini power down settings.
