Screen resolution changes automatically to 800x600 after hibernation - 945GM Express chipset - Solution

Hi,
if you are using VISTA SP1 RC2 or the RTM version shipped last week with a 945GM Express video chipset you probably are having problems with the screen resolution dropping to 800x600 on resuming from sleep.
INTEL has posted a new version of the driver v15.7.3 on their website. This works fine on my Portage R300, should work on other machines too, even though this is a generic driver.
Hope this helps!

Hi Gery
Thanks for the useful information.
I have noticed a similar issue with Vista running on my non-Toshiba notebook The graphic driver update helps definitely.
Best regards

Screen resolution changes on iphone 4s after downloading OS 6. Can't see entire home screen. I must reboot to restore original resolution, but while zoomed I can't see the ok button. What is the fix?

No one here knows when the next iOS update will be released or what changes it will include until Apple releases it.
iOS 6.1.2 does not disable Wi-Fi, the vast majority of issues with iPhones that appear after an iOS update can be resolved with basic troubleshooting which is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).
If that does not resolve, then the issue is hardware related and no amount of iOS updates or restores will ever get it functional again.

  • Facebook screen resolution changes automatically everytime on Mozilla Firefox 4. Other websites opens fine.

I have recently updated to Firefox 4. I am having many problems with this version.
I am unable to use Facebook properly. The Facebook screen resolution changes every time automatically. The screen resolution gets very big.
When I open the FB site the resolution will be fine as soon I open another tab to check other website and roll back to the FB tab the screen resolution gets big and can't get back to normal view.
I have to close the FB tab and open a new tab to put the FB URL to use it. When I try to view other tabs and then open the FB tab the screen resolution is changed.
I have problem with only FB on Firefox 4, other websites are working fine.
I also tried opening FB on IE8 and Chrome. Their the site is opening normal. Have no issues with their browsers. I spotted it to be a problem with Firefox 4 and also the IDM (Internet Download Manager) doesn't work on the FF4 where it used to work on the earlier version of FF.
Do something about the IDM integration with FF4 to download FLV,MP4 videos from YouTube and other websites.
There is no "Go back to multiple pages" button in a FF4 tab. It only allows us to go back to the previous page. If I have open 10 pages in a single tab then I have to click the back button 10 TIMES to open the last (10th page) but in the previous FF3 there is a facility to view all the pages in a drop down which the current version of FF4 doesn't have :-( I am using Windows XP 2 Professional 32-bit and owner of the computer.
Please fix the issues asap else I have to move back to the earlier version or have to shift to some other browser :

  • Screen resolution changed automatically after flickering [Solved]

Hello, I've got a little problem here...
    My original resolution was 1280x1024
    Here's what happened:
I was using my PC and then the screen suddenly went black and then "No signal" well y had to disconnect and reconnect the monitor, turned it on again, and everything was working just perfectly. I finished and then shutted down the PC.
After a while (around 2 hours later) I turned it on again and there it was, same as always 1280x1024 and running smoothly, 10 min later the screen flickers and I get a 1024x768, I try to get back to 1280x1024 but it doesn't recognize it anymore (KDE SC SystemSettings) then I try with "xrandr -s" and I get a "no mode available", well I had stuff to do so I shutdown and leave...
I turn it on again hoping that it had automagically reconfigured itself, but there's no luck... I try to do some magic with a xorg.conf buth I fail, well I get sick and reinstall arch completely, from scratch...
And now, I just don't know what to do, after a clean install and with a new user it still only displays 1024x768 as the highest resolution available, the drivers are installed and everything is up-to-date.
My video card is an Motherboard Integrated Ati Radeon Xpress X200.
I've got xf86-video-ati drivers installed and updated.
The newest kernel available in arch repos.
I just can't track the problem to its source
BTW, I don't think it's a hardware problem because in my Windows partition it works just fine (1280x1024 display) so I don't really know what to do...
    Any help is greatly appreciated

    SOLVED!!
    Well, kinda...
    I just did this:
Take a look at Xrandr Wiki Article
    cvt 1280 1024
    xrandr --newmode "1280x1024_60.00" 109.00 1280 1368 1496 1712 1024 1027 1034 1063 -hsync +vsync
    xrandr --addmode VGA-0 1280x1024_60.00
Now xrandr detects 1280x1024 as an available resolution so I just:
    xrandr -s 1280x1024_60.00
And hopefully now it's all solved, I'll reboot right now to see how things go...
BTW, plk, thanks for your answer, it was a lonely place here
    Edit:
Stupid me, I forgot to add the canges to X... I've done it and now everything works smoothly

  • Spontaneous screen resolution change

I am running OS X Maverick since a few days.
If I don't use my system, the screen "goes to sleep" after 10 min. (like I always had).
Since the OS X upgrade I have the problem that my screen resolution changes to 800 * 600 after when I "rewake" the screen (by pressing a key).
When I look in the system preferences, the screen resolution is set to "best for my screen"
I have to change it manually to the original setting (1280 * 960)
    Error in the screendriver????

Screen resolution changes after opening PDF in Preview and is enlarged.

    Do a backup.
    Quit Preview.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Remove the following. You may not find them all.

    Preferences/com.apple.Preview.LSSharedFileList.plist

The screen resolution changes when I open I-Tunes. I have to go into control panel every-time to adjust the resolution to make the print and screen layout small enough so its entirety is captured which then allows me to use I-Tunes. Otherwise the graphics are too large to be captured on the screen making the program unusable.

  • Restart GKrellm on screen resolution change in KDE

    Hi all!
Any trusty GKrellm wizards still out there? Or KDE mastahs?
I much prefer GKrellm and dockapps for my system monitor needs and currently use the former as a panel in the top right corner on my KDE 4.5 desktop. It works great except for screen resolution changes where switching from larger to smaller resolutions and vice versa breaks the alignment to the right border of the screen.
My question is if there is a lean way, either through GKrellm, KDE or even bash/d-bus or similar to restart GKrellm (which is fast and good enough a solution for me) when I change resolution? Any ideas?
I wish KDE had as an option for "on resolution change, execute X". Come to think of it, I would like KDE to offer this option for power management state switches as well. Hmm, perhaps there should be a generalized "state-based" daemon for launching arbitrary external commands in KDE much like the tools available on Android phones these days, like Tasker, Locale and Setting Profiles...

No hints for how to do this? What about in Gnome?

  • After using Image Capture and watching a video, the screen resolution changes

    Hello,
Normally the colors of my screen are clear; The top ruler of each window is grey.
But after scanning a color document, the color is pale. As if someone changed the screen resolution.
    Is this a common problem?
My former Macbook Pro died because of a problem with the video system, a default acknowledged by Apple that they didnt want to repair under warranty anymore.
    Does this ring a bell?
Today, the colors quickly became normal again, but I'd like to make sure it ' s not going to become a serious problem.
Maybe this sounds kind of vague, well if anyone has something constructive to say about this, please do.
    thanks

When you decided to not copy the files into the iPhoto Library Folder you took responsibility for File Management. iPhoto does not touch your file structure. Therefore, when you delete a photo from iPhoto you have to delete it from your file structure by hand.
This is not the case if you let iPhoto do the File Management.
There is no way to get iPhoto to find the pics you have deleted from it but which remain in your file structure. In the future, you could Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected. You can then delete it from there, and after delete it from iPhoto.
BTW, many people hold on to their own file structure because they feel that they will be unable to find a pic in the Finder, should they need it for uploading or emailing. There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
    1. Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, this produces a copy.
    3. Show File: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • Reset dimention object automatically when screen resolution changes

    hi frns,
here i struggle with a prb.i set Jscroollpan prefferdsize() by using dimension obj, b'se to resize the components independent of screen resolution .
    jsp2.setPreferredSize( new Dimension( (int)(screenSize1.width/2.5), screenSize.height/2));
my gui works properly even i change the screen resloution.but i have to restart my application to reflect new Dimensions.in my view the Dimension object resets to the new values only when i reexecute(it doesnot mean recompile..just rerun)the program. Is there any actionlistener or something else to catch that action(i.e when changing the screen resolution).there is addPropertyChangeListener in toolkit but i need code in detail. ...reply urgent

1.) if its that urgent what about paying sun for support?
    2.) don't cross-post or double post.
3.) No idea what your post is about, but back to your headline-question:

  • T420 Screen Resolution Change Issue

My T420 laptop is capable of 1600 X 900 screen resolution. After changing the resolution temporarily to 1024 X 768,
I tried to change it back a couple of hours later to 1600 X 900. However, now I do not even see 1600 X 900 as an option.
The highest option is its' current setting of 1024 X 768. Can someone tell me how I can get the 1600 X 900 resolution to show up
again as an option so I can change the screen resolution back to its' factory setting? I do not know what could have happened
except for maybe a windows update took place before I attempted to change the screen resolution back. Any help
    would be greatly appreciated.

    hey Quinn,
welcome to the forums. could you check the graphic card version on your unit and compare it to the version available on http://support.lenovo.com .
is it the same or is the one on the support site ? If both of it is the same, uninstall the graphic driver from your unit and then download the driver from our support site.
do not install it yet, set your unit to diagnostic mode via msconfig first and then only install.
