Screen Shot Size

Oh, I hope somebody can help me with this issue, it's causing
much frustration. :(
I'm recording a demonstration of how to execute a particular
function within a website. When I create the project, I'm able to
align the screen shot with the red box exaclty how I want to. So, I
take the sreen shot of screen 1 and then click to screen 2. When I
arrive at screen 2, the nice box for the screen shot I created for
screen 1 does NOT align with screen 2. This is a flaw in the
website (lack of uniformity in its graphic design) ... however, can
I correct it with Captivate? I tried the crop feature when you
resize, but this didn't work properly.
Also, why is that you can't specify the size of the screen
after already recording once? I ask becuase I tried recording
screen 1 on its own... And then screen 2 on its own. With screen 2,
I'm not able to adjust the red box precisely as I was able to with
screen 1.
Please help Captivate masters!
Thanks,
WCC

My suggestion here would be having snapped screen 1 within
the red recording area and taken the first screen shot, press the
pause on your keyboard button, make sure that the second screen is
aligned correctly within the red recording area, press the pause
button again and then press the Print Screen key to manually
capture the second screen.

Put simply because you cannot have slides at different sizes
in the same Adobe Captivate project file. Whilst you cannot resize
the red recording area, you can select a different application in
the recording dialog box and then snap this within the red
recording area; you can also move the red record box manually by
either clicking and dragging on one of the edges or clicking on one
of the edges and pressing one of the arrow keys on your keyboard.
Note: You move the red recording area 5 pixels (I think) at a time
by holding down the Ctrl key and press one of the arrow keys.
If you need to capture screen 2 at a different size you would
then need to do this in a separate project file and this
separately. You could do this using either the slide navigation
options or load the second file at the end of your first project.
Whatever method you choose to use you will first need to publish
your second screen project as a SWF and include an HTML file.
Personally, I would suggest in either cases you choose the option
"Open URL or File."

  • Mail is changing the size of my screen shots

I work remotely, and so I rely a lot on snapping screen shots (via Shift-command-4) of what I'm seeing, then attaching them to emails, to communicate with colleagues and students. I've recently been made aware, however, that my screen shots are coming through too small to be read.
What seems to happen is this:
    - I snap a screen shot of some portion of my screen.
    - If I preview this file using the spacebar, or double click on it to open it in Preview, it opens at 100% of the original size.
    - If I attach the screen shot to a mail message, first it gets pasted in as an in-line image (annoying) at a small percentage of the original. Then if the recipient double clicks on it, it opens (in Preview if they have a Mac)... at the same scaled-down size as the in-line image from the mail.
    - Attempting to increase the size of this image simply results in a pixelated mess.
This is true even if I go to an item in my "Sent" folder and open the image I've attached to a message.
    Help!

I am having the same problem as Shelia all of a sudden. This is only recently.  I take a lot of screen shots to use in many different ways, sometimes to attach to email, sometimes just for my own reference. What is going on??? Why are my screen shots all of a sudden coming out teensy?

  • How can i take a full screen shot of a web page without using paparazzi?

I would like to take a full screen shot of a web page but scroll down to the page as well. i have downloaded paparazzi which seemed to be recommanded but I am not satisfied with what it does any other suggestion to get a clear picture of the page???

    Hi Keith,
It doesn't have to be a movie.  Snagit, for example can capture the complete browser window as an image which you can then save as a png, jpg, tiff, gif, bmp or snagit document.  That's what I thought the OP wanted so I didn't suggest the built in screen captures.
    Take care,
    ivan
(To Philo9, I saved this with 80% quality, so it's not the best.  You can save as full quality, png or tiff to get better than this. Click on it to see it full size.)

  • Screen Shots in APEX 3.0

    Hi All,
I have a requirement for my users to provide them with screen shots of all the forms /reports in their new application. We call these mock-ups. They will review them possibly add a column or rename something.
I have tried using "print screen" and the print button on the IE toolbar. Neither produce usable material.
Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks
    Moe

I was wondering if you had any problems copying into a word doc?
It doesn't seem to work for me.In Word, try Edit > Paste Special..., then select "Device Independent Bitmap".
    OR
Save all the Screengrab images to file, and create the Word document by using Insert > Picture > From File..., and using the "Link to file" option on the Link button. This means the document will automatically update itself if you change the underlying images (you won't want the Screengrab "timestamp in filename" option on for this).
[Note previous advice on huge file sizes.]
    OR
Get a Mac, print the screens to PDF, and stitch them together into one document using the built-in Automator action ;-) [not tested].

  • Imported Screen Shots are Blurry

    Hello FCP users,
I am challenged and need some guidance. The projects that I create a little mini-movies/demos made up of mostly imported screen shots and some still photos -- never any video. My challenge is that I have a very clean screen shot to work with -- if I bring them up in Preview, Photoshop, etc. they look great. The second I import them into FCP they are blurry, degraded and next to unreadable. I seems like I've tried everything, but nothing seems to make a difference.
I am not the one taking the screen shots -- they are provided from a different source each time. Each person most likely uses a different product to grab those screen shots, but my guess is that they are probably using snag-it or a similar product. I usually ask them to provide the "best" quality they can. That can mean a ton of different sized screen shots come my way. The ones I'm working with now range in size -- 1,116x760, 1,284x1000, 1,026x813, 1,023x830 to name a few.
I have been on the boards and did try one recommendation that I saw to reduce the size of the image to the same frame size that you are working with (in my case 720x480). Of course, when I do this there is degradation before I even bring it into FCP.
So, I'm wondering, should I be asking people to create their screen shots at 720x480? I've been playing around in Parallels with Snag-it to see what options are available -- I don't see that they can choose to produce the screen shots at a certain size -- they can reduce them after they take it, but there's that degradation again. Maybe there is some recommended product that I can suggest? Everyone I work with to supply the screen shots would be a pc user.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I do these often, and my screen quality always looks poor. I'd like to come up with a solution and I'm sure a big part of that is instructing those who supply the screen shots to take them a certain way...perhaps with a certain product...only I don't know what that is.
    Best practices anyone?
    My settings are:
    Frame Size: 720x480
    Aspect Ratio: NTSC DV (3:2)
Pixel Aspect Ratio: NTSC - CCIR 601 / DV (720x480)
    Compressor: DV/DVCPRO - NTSC
    Thanks for your insights.
    Tawny

Pan & Scan: in this context, I was referring to the idea of panning across a screen shot instead of reducing it to the size of the video frame. In other words, the original is (e.g.) 2x the width or height and then, as you explain / narrate, it moves across the screen. This preserves the "local" resolution of the original, but doesn't give the viewer a single view of the whole screen. It can be used in conjunction with the "whole view" as a kind of CU shot.

  • I am not able to view full screen shot of a USB program. Any suggestions?

I have a USB flash drive with a personal health record program preloaded.  When I plug in the flash I'm unable to view the full screen shot.  I have Windows 7.

The program may be limited in the size of the window it can create for display, I would ask the company that produces that program if it is the only program with this issue.

  • A picture is worth a thousand words and all I want is a screen shot of the basic in-box

I just want to see what a typical inbox will look like, eg date, sender, message, options like delete, folders, sent, etc

https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/features/ has a good overview and some screen shots. Columns in the mailbox views can be chosen from a list: Thread, Starred, Attachment, Subject, Read, From, Recipient, Junk, Received, Date, Status, Tag, Size, Account, Priority, Unread, Total, Location, and Order received. Of course, you would probably not choose all of those because of the available space on your screen. Subject, From, and Date (which includes time) are the most important to me.
A separate pane on the left shows your email accounts and folders belonging to them (e.g. Inbox, Starred, Junk, etc.). Clicking on a folder displays the messages in that folder.

hi all, my lap top has broken down, using an iPad2 i can print with airprint perfectly ok onto a4 paper. i select a file from my iPads photo stream, it is obviously a photo, but it is a screen shot and i want it printed onto a4 plain paper, my 6510 insists on me putting a photo sized glossy paper in, so it wont print anything on a4 plain paper ! perhaps i should add the printer is brand new and i have just taken it out of the box later i have tried to print the same picture using eprint, same result, why cant i print a picture onto A4 size paper ? Hi TIMMYTOAD,
AirPrint does not have any formatting capability and ePrint is very limited.  I would download and install the HP ePrint Home & Biz app from the App Store.  It will allow you to select paper size, image size, paper type and paper source.
If I have solved your issue, please feel free to provide kudos and make sure you mark this thread as solution provided.

  • Screen Shots in Robohelp

I am workking on several large projects in Robohelp. In 2 out

their original "full" size. I have tried changing their size before

    tricks?

HI cjohns30 and welcome to our community
Never ever even think about resizing an image directly inside
the RoboHelp editor! You will inevitably end up with poor results.

  • Creating screen shots

    Hi guys,
New to imovie and I am trying to add a screen shot (or whatever it might be called in video lingo) at the beginning of the movie. I made it in Illustrator (contains stylized text and a logo image) and then exported the screen as a jpg & tiff to a folder in iphoto. The images appear in imovie okay in the "photos" panel, but when I place them they look terrible. What am I doing wrong? Is there a size I should be making them so that they can appear as clear as they do in Illustrator or Preview? I made the screen shots to be 800x600. I just want the text and logo to look good and not blurry or pixelated.
Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.
    Peace,
    Eric

  • How do i change the resolution of my screen shots that i captured from my desktop?

How do i change the resolution of my screen shots that i captured from my desktop?
    Thanks.

Do you mean you want it saved with the resolution set to something other than 72 dpi when the capture is made, or do you mean you want your capture saved at a higher resolution than the captured area?
    1) If the first, there are ways to change the default capture format .png to something else, such as .jpg, .tif and a few others, but as far as I know, the resolution will always be 72 dpi. You can use Preview to change the resolution of the captured image under Tools > Adjust Size. You will get this:
If your intention is to set the resolution for professional printing defaults, then change the resolution to 300. Turn off Resample image to prevent the image from actually having more pixels added. The resolution will simply be reset from 72 to 300 dpi without changing the actual number of pixels in the image. It will also print a lot smaller since the output device will now use 300 pixels per linear inch instead of 72.
Leave Resample image on if you need to maintain the dimensions. Be aware however that scaling the image (resampling) will add a lot more pixels to the image than are there to maintain size. Expect the image to get very soft and pixelated looking when adding 417% more data to the image than it currently has.
    2) If you mean you want the OS to actually save the captured area as a high resolution image at size, that can't happen. A capture is a 1:1 grab of the display buffer. It can only capture what's there. So if you capture a 700 pixel x 500 pixel area, that's all the bigger it can be without scaling it afterwards.

  • Screen Shots - Help please???

I learned how to do screen shots in PSE quite some time ago and have totally forgotten how to do it. I am typing up instructions for a class I'm teaching and need to insert pictures of how the screen looks at different stages of the process. I know there is a way to take a "shot" of the screen, crop it to size, etc. and save it to insert into another project (in Word, for instance). Am I making sense? If anyone can give me a couple of pointers about how to do this, I'm sure it will spark my memory. Would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Barbara, thank you so much! You are an absolute life saver and I never expected to get my answer so fast. I knew it was something simple, but I kept looking for something to select in PSE rather than on my keyboard. Thanks again.

    hello,
i am having one basic question. How to create screen shots.
i have forgot the path. can anybody help immediately.

    Hii,
If u want take the screen shot there are different free software are there eg: Screen grabber: this is very useful for grabbing the desired the area from the required screen.
    2. if u wanna take the comple screen shot then press hot key ALT + Print screen and save it in the word document. if u want add it as a saperate image paste that screen shot in the MS paint and save it as JPEG, so that the size wil in very less.
