Scripting possibilities

Hi guys,
I am new to the Illustrator scripting, just doing my first steps and I have some questions. Please help me to find out is it possible or not:
1. To access Illustrator tools from JavaScript? For example, "ask" Illustrator to take its scissors tool and cut a path at some point. I see no way to do that.
2. To access Illustrator tools from any other programming language?
3. To edit a mesh (its grid, colours, etc.) from JavaScript? I see no mesh info in the scripting manual at all. I only see how to get a list of meshes, nothing else.
4. To edit a mesh from any other programming language?
5. To get a colour of some pixel with JavaScript? For example, we have a rectangle filled with a gradient fill. It is 100 pixels wide, and 50 pixels of height. I need to know the colour of a pixel at x=15, y=20. How to do that?

I kind of cheated, I just wanted to have all "no"s....at least with scripting none of that's possible, maybe 5, I don't know. But if you want to get into C++ I think you can do all that, again, not sure about 5, maybe you can ask Photoshop to do it from Illustrator.
you can ask in the SDK forum, it might be possible using C++.

SLM2048 Scripting Possibilities ?

Hi everyone,
i do have 3 SLM2048 Switches installed and configured as a single Stack.
The switches are running fine. My problem is, that the Web interface is quite slow and also in some cases not that flexible ( if i want to configure VLANs i have to do this for each port seperately, what takes me too much time).
Because we have a test lab, i need to switch the VLANs almost every week.
Is there a way to configure multiple ports for VLAN with almost one click ?
Or is there an advanced CLI interface to script VLAN configurations ?

Maybe next time you might consider the SRW2048-k9-NA (NA standing for North America) as a Small business purchas , this is the very new replacement for the old SRW2048. The SRW series traditionally was one step above the SLM series in features and functions. Now with the SRW series refresh that recent occured it really seems to be generations ahead of SLM and the older SRW series.

It's a newer technology switch slight more expensive but a nice fully managed switch, but comes with great warranty and forward NBD replacement where applicable..
Very young in it's life cycle and has the option to modify an text based configuraion file for faster delpyment. You may note from the script below a few features;

PL/SQL is not an interactive programming language, so there is generally no place to print any sort of message, no place to prompt the user for input, etc.
A SQL*Plus script can use the SQL*Plus client as a very basic way of interacting with users using the PROMPT command to accept input and using DBMS_OUTPUT to print messages to the console (assuming the script does a SET SERVEROUTPUT ON to enable printing the results). Other applications may have similar sorts of scripting possibilities, generally based on a subset of the commands SQL*Plus supports.

But I thought that all of you who have posted requests to this wishlist might like to get specific responses to some of the items on this list.
First of all, though, I'd like to point out an innovative set of features that I think addresses a request that many of you have made... just not exactly as you asked for it. All of us have wanted a better way to see into and navigate among nested compositions (precompositions). The Composition Mini-Flowchart and Composition Navigator make moving around in a complex project much, much faster and easier. Telling you to see the
"Opening and navigating nested compositions" section isn't going to do this feature set justice. You'll only appreciate how slick this is when you get your hands on it.

Any way to create Execute Queues or set Load Order using ANT?

Hello All,
Does anyone know whether wlconfig or some other Ant tasks can be used
in order to automate the creation of specific Execute Queues? We'd like
to script and package this so as to avoid having the user configure
queues through the admin console.
I'd also like to find out if there is some way to set the application
Load Order through wlconfig or wldeploy.
I have looked at the WebLogic command reference here: http://e-
docs.bea.com/wls/docs81/admin_ref/ant_tasks.html but don't see anything
promising.
Am I missing something? I'm not too familiar with all the scripting
possibilities so any help would be much appreciated. We are using
WebLogic Server 8.1 SP3 on Windows and UNIX.

What I usually do is just enable automation Latch, select the objects in the enviro and then send data. You can only select so many paramaters at a time, for example 2000 events won't all transmit and record properly so you can't do it in 1 fell swoop but it goes pretty quick, you can then write it to the region (as opposed to automation data-or does this method not work for your purposes?
What may be happening is you're transmitting MIDI data and expecting it to work as autom.-I don't work this way so i don't know what to expect but maybe it's a difference between v4 and v5 (which is still used in 7) automation. You didn't exactly say which version you came from...

IOS.sh is still in its infancy. It was only recently added to the ISR in 15.1(3)T. There are many things you may be used to with bash scripting that you cannot yet do in IOS.sh (i.e. redirect command output). If you want to have more complete scripting, consider using Tcl. You can either use the Tcl shell (started with the tclsh command) or the Embedded Event Manager Tcl interpreter. Documentation for tclsh can be found at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/netmgmt/configuration/guide/nm_script_tcl.html where as documentation for EEM Tcl can be found at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/netmgmt/configuration/guide/nm_eem_policy_tcl.html . Support for tclsh was added to 12.3(2)T, and support for EEM Tcl was added in 12.3(14)T. So chances are you have this support in your ISR already.

Notepad AU plugin!!!

For those who asked for some kind of possibility to keep notes within a track , I found incidentally this plugin:

Exactly. I guess with apple-scripting possibilites and OSX features that I don't even know (but somebody does) it should be easy to implement an OSX TextEdit. into Logic's Channelstrip and export all notes from all (or desired) tracks (channelstrips) to one TextEdit file, so we have a complete Track Sheet. This would be really helpfull for those who are migrating with projects from one studio to another, for example when pre-mixing in Logic then moving to Pro-Tools based studio equipped with analog console, etc. etc. I made myself a FilemakerPro based TrackSheet template, but it is pain in the a** when yyou have to fill the track names two times (once in Logic, once in filemaker...). But I do believe it should be possible to create application (plugin) that will be able to read all track (Channel) names and it's settings (including plugin settings maybe?) and export it to one file -together with notes from Notepad plugin or similar "built-in" TextEdit. So we have a complete Project-Info

How to change the script event?!?

Here I have a small form with two different parts...
The first part is a table containing many checkboxes to be able to show whatever form you want to fill up..
All of the checkboxes create a form into a table which each row represents the form to fill-up.
When you click 1 checkbox, it adds a row to the table with some values needed for the form..
In that form there is a chance to have 2 or 3 radiobuttons, depending on the checkedbox which each do something different..
the 1st one hides a new table to fill up information (under the radiobuttons),
the 2nd one shows up the new table with some values to show instructions into labels...
the 3rd one shows up the new table with some other values to show different instructions into labels.. (This radiobutton is only in half of the forms, so it is hidden)
those labels must be different for each checkbox chosen
instead of making a huge script in my radiobutton change event, and writing all the different possibilites
i'd rather create the script depending on the checkedbox the user have chosen...
Right now I'm using something like : this.resolveNode("...radiobuttonList").event__change.script.value = "--_ Write all the new code here_--";
After this line is written and everything is working... I show up a messageBox to see the result which is all correct..
But when I'm clicking on the radiobuttons nothing is working at all...
the only code working is the initial code written in the event
Anyone have an idea if I'm missing something?!?

Actually this is not what i was looking for, I really need to change the script...
e.g. I have a button in a expandable table and i want each buttons to have a different messagebox....
when the button is created a new script is assigned to the event_click...

Looks like LiveCycle Designer is not able to change the scripts events even though the property is there and is a "get" & "set"
so I should be able to change script event.... but I think i need to reload/recreate the form by using the modified code...

How to bind data from script created variable to embed element of XML schema (xsd) in "Data View"

Hi, i have got another problem with livecycle designer scripting.
I have got script line which is defining of string variable:

and i have got embed XML schema like this (it`s only short part of whole file):

After saving data to XML i would like to get "this is my string" as a value of my "bbb" XML element.
To save this data i`m using submit button which is connect with submit.php file on my server.
How to connect script created variable and embed XML schema element which is present on my "Data View" tab.
Please help me a bit becouse i don`t know even where to search answer of it...
Of course i know possibilities to create fake unvisible text field object and bind it with 'bbb' and than put "this.rawValue = aaa" to connect those two variables but i think that is not a good idea to solve it in that way. It`s too primitive

Urgent: Error in script output "output could not be issued"

1.check whther the entries are there for the corresponding billing doc no...
2.Now suppose if you want to some data to be displayed in one
page and the rest of the data in another page i.e you want to force the data
to move to next page then use this sap script command
/: NEW-PAGE[page_name]
This will force the data to move to the next page.
3.assuming that u r using two pages(FIRST,NEXT) in the layout...
the statement that displays the line item should probably be inside the loop and corrosponding form and end form.. so that if it exceeds the page it'll automatically display it in the next page..
4.Try to expand the main window size so that continous line item
5.Make sure that u have alloted the corresponding output type for the billing document issued...
6.check the form name and the driver program name)in NACE transaction

About «networking» possibilities and limitations ...

Hi,
I experienced 2 major network crash of my little home network: iMac G5 (OS 10.4.11) + iMac Intel (10.6.2) + Airport Extreme Base Station.
I don't know what I did exactly either times other than that I was experiencing with the network. I was either running a script to mount a shared volume on my G5 or maybe trying to get access of a folder located on the G5 from my Intel machine and I suspect that while doing that a backup was maybe running from the G5 to the Intel machine. I cannot recall what was really going on ... I was so surprised by the consequences. I don't really want to try it again, because it is long to get back to work after this type of crash.
The network crashed ... 2 times with the same result. I surely did something wrong. After restarting both computers, the result was that on my G5 the frontmost user had lost it's Library folder, thus all the user setups were lost and with it my personal data folders also. I had to do a full restore from a SuperDuper backup done a few days ago. Restoring personal file was also possible from my Dropbox and CrashPlan files and folders.
What preoccupies me is what did I do to cause those 2 crashes ? If I better understand what are the limits and possibilities of networking that should help. Maybe that somebody experienced in networks, will help a novice like me find what he does not understand:
• on computer B, can I mount at the same time the shared volumes A1 and A2 of computer A ?
• if I am doing a backup from A to an attached drive to computer B, can I mount at the same time the shared volume A1 on computer B ?
• can trying to mount a shared volume by script over a network easily crash the network ?
Hoping somebody can help me with this crashing problem ...

By network crash I mean that both computer froze ... After restart, I realized that the frontmost user before crash had lost it's Library folder and all personnal document folder. The crashed user on the G5 was replaced with a brand new user with the same name but empty. Both crashes gave the same result ...

My experience is, for the first item, that I can only mount one volume at a time ... If I mount one volume, to see the other I have to unmount the first. For the second and third item, my experience is that they are probably why my network crashed ....

Essbase Calculation Script taking more time in new environment

We have four environments in our implementation.
1. DEV Environment - 64 bit Essbase Version 11.1.1.3
2. PreProd Environment - 32 bit Essbase Version 9.3.0
3. PreProd Environment - 64 bit Essbase Version 11.1.1.3
In the above mentioned environment PreProd Environment - 64 bit Essbase Version 11.1.1.3 is a newly installed
environment.
We have migrated our Application from PreProd Environment - 32 bit Essbase Version 9.3.0 to PreProd Environment - 64 bit Essbase Version 11.1.1.3. A calculation script that takes only 20 minutes in 32 bit PreProd is taking more than
5 and half hours in newly installed 64 bit PreProd.
We have also migrated our Application from DEV Environment - 64 bit Essbase Version 11.1.1.3 to PreProd Environment - 64 bit Essbase Version 11.1.1.3. The calculation script that takes only 20 minutes in 64 bit Dev is taking more than 5 and half hours in newly installed 64 bit PreProd.
All the server settings and cache setting everything looks similar in all the three environments.
Please advice us what are all the possibilities that creates the issue.

and aslo find the caches that we define:
Index cache:250000
Data Cache:250000

The all above settings are identical both servers.
In New server ,only one script that is taking more time but remaining scripts are working fine with less time.
We also did one test cause that splitting the script in to multiple and executed ,in this cause the script where we are using direct assigning value from member(say A1) to another member(Say A2) is taking more time.But same scripts we executed in old server it executes fine.
Still we are not able to find out exact root cause for this issue.
Could please anyone help me to resove this issue.
